One of the best beer bars in LA, 52 taps featuring a fantastic selection of mostly local independent beer, with a good mix of a few beers from across the country and Belgium. There's always something rare and interesting on tap. They must have some kegs stowed away in their cellar because it's not unusual for them to put on tap a barrel aged beer from a year or two ago. Good bottles available as well. The beer program has really improved over the last few years. There's a couple of small TVs but it's really not a sports bar. There's a pool table and a juke box. Bowls of free peanuts are available and you can bring food into the bar. A block away is the awesome Dinah's Fried Chicken if you're looking for dinner. Plenty of free street parking. read more

This place is a little gem. It's cool little craft beer bar that sits unassumingly off San Fernando Rd on the edge of Glendale and LA. They have a insanely large selection of craft beer on tap for such a small bar (Yardhouse might have more beers, but face it most of their craft beers are from larger breweries). This place has lots of small unique craft brew places, quite a few are local as well. The interior looks kinda like a mechanics shop / kitchen / bar. Its cozy and they have a pool table. They also have an outdoor area where you can chill out and grab a bite from a visiting foodtruck operation thing. They also have The Cellar where you can grab bottled/canned beers to go. I have had great experiences here for beer runs, just beer and coming for the food pop ups in the patio area! They have a delicious beer menu and a rotating food pop up! Glendale Tap is easy to love. It's a cozy beer bar with dozens of beers on draft, a little more divey and less self-consciously hip than the rash of new brew pubs that have opened up in the last few years (which, let's be real, I enjoy them all). June K. and I had just under an hour to kill one Sunday afternoon, so we walked in and stayed for about forty minutes. We sat at the bar and had a perfect quick round. The place was pleasantly busy, not loud or crowded but fun and alive. We got two seats at the bar right by the entrance, next to a woman with a shoulder tattoo that read "Executive Producer Dick Wolf" in the Law & Order font (I googled this later and it turns out it's a common tattoo? God, people are weird). The bartender helped us out right away. He was super friendly and fast at the tap. We picked four beers from the extensive draft list and ordered 5 oz. tasters, building our own little flight. We tried The Other Guava, a lambic by Beachwood Blendery; Bottle Logic Brewing's Local Dialect, an American pale lager; the Pure Project Murkeley, a hazy double IPA; and The Pupil, an IPA by Societe Brewing Company, that I'd only ever seen at the Societe brewery in San Diego. All four were delicious, and they just hit the spot on this afternoon. I live far enough away from Glendale that I can't just waltz in here whenever I want, but I'll make a point of going again when I'm back on this side of town. What a local gem that is actually within the Jewel City (Glendale) unlike its not-so-golden neighbor to the north. After all, who needs to drink canned beer when Glendale Tap has over 50 beers on "tap"? The Glendale Tap was originally a motorcycle repair shop until it was converted into the current "beer bar". Perhaps that is why you still see bikers here from time to time. But don't think that the Glendale Tap is just for the Sons of Anarchy. To the contrary, the type of people that visit the Glendale Tap are varied and include the usual mix of bearded hipsters and beer aficionados, as well as just downright awesome people because beer people are jolly people that definitely have the bellies to prove it. The beers on tap include a bountiful selection of craft beer and this is one of the few places where I can regularly find Torrance's Smog City Groundworks Coffee Porter... you know Starbucks beer. You can also find beers from The Bruery, Stone, Eagle Rock, and other local breweries. While they do not really offer food aside from meh-diocre reheatable empanadas, do take advantage of their complimentary peanuts where you can toss the shells on the floor. Just try not to get offended when the bartender asks "do you want peanuts?" because it can get loud in the Glendale Tap and it may sound like the bartender is asking if you want some well, use your imagination. True story, bro. Aside from awesome beer, the Glendale Tap has two pool tables, a digital jukebox and two televisions that show random cartoons. If you ask them nicely, sometimes they change it to the local sporting event. Also a true story, bro. The bartenders and service from our many experiences have always been really good and my wife was surprised when we went for her birthday in February and the bartender paid for her drink. At the end of the day, the Glendale Tap is a much needed addition to Glendale where aside from some shady dive bars and chain restaurants, there really weren't too many beer places. It doesn't happen often but sometimes I walk into a place and say to myself, "this is the kind of joint I would open someday." Well, that is exactly what I said when I stepped foot inside The Glendale Tap this past weekend. It's kind of dirty looking to the eye but in reality very clean. You know, it's a bit like when YOU, (not me) buy a Rolling Stones shirt from Target. It's weathered and road-worn looking but actually has never seen a bead or sweat, switchblade or hardcore drug in its life. Granted there are lots of old automotive and drinking artifacts from floor to ceiling, but it's all tidy and well kept. The beer... oh boy, the beer. Being from San Diego I know great beer bars and live a quick five minute walk from Hamilton's, one of the best in the country. This place gives them a great run for their money with about 50 options on tap but the best part about it is that there was zero crowd at 1:00pm on a Saturday. Thankfully it also lacked the pretentiousness and beer-snobery that often goes hand in hand with beer experts colliding with beer novices. However they have no parking lot and the place is dark. ONLY BEER. And it's flat. They don't know how to pour a beer. read more

You know youre in a dive when you immediately notice the pungent smell of warm beer emanating from the inside and a floor covered broken peanut shells. It's so divey that the cash register isn't even from this century. I also liked that there were a couple of pool tables to play at for free while you sip on some carbonated goodness. My friend and I decided to check this place out last night because the reviews looked good, and they seemed to have a nice craft beer selection. From a distance it seemed there was some sort of disturbance at the bar. As we got closer we saw NINE police vehicles AND A HELICOPTER circling overhead! We parked and went to go into the bar, and I asked the cops if someone had been murdered or maybe robbed a bank. No. Turns out some guy had a Trump hat on. That's it. No fight. No guns. No threats. No dead bodies. Just a hat. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely HATE bigots, but that goes both ways. Bigot - a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing  creed, belief, or opinion. I might not agree with certain people's political beliefs, but I could never imagine being such a vile, hate-filled *BIGOT* as to call the police over some guy wearing a hat, drinking a beer, minding his own business. And, whatever the person who called said to the police was obviously AWFUL to warrant such a response. The police obviously expected some major, major violence. When you call the police and get them riled up, that's how innocent people get shot and killed. What if next time, instead of it being a hat the bar tender doesn't like, it's a trans person, or a person of color? Are they going to call and have THEM thrown out of the bar, too, or SHOT? We need to stand up for all minorities, and to me, that includes minority opinions, even if I don't agree with them. I will never go to this bar again. The beer list seems well-curated - there were a ton of options I wanted to try. Alas, we could only spend so much time there. I got a few good ones in and I was impressed with everything I tried. I wish I could have tried the BBQ from Ribs Against the Machine. We'd just come from lunch, though. Since it was the middle of the day, the bar wasn't too busy. However, service was kinda slow. There was only one bartender. In fact, on my last trip up to the bar for the check, I ordered one last beer along with it. I planned to down it if he brought the check immediately. Sorry to have to change my opinion of this place so drastically. I have certainly had my share of good times here, but they are now over. There was a time a couple of years ago when they had a movie on that I guess was rated R, perhaps MA, but it had so much ongoing nudity that it was making me uncomfortable. I told the female bartender and she looked and saw what I saw and immediately changed it, 'cause frankly it was inappropriate and awkward for people just trying to have some casual fun who are not at a "gentleman's" club. But apparently not all workers have the same consideration. There was a MA movie on tonight that was playing an uncomfortable three-way sex scene that went on far too long, but when I told Tyler that I felt it was inappropriate and could we change it to something not so nasty, he actually said he doesn't care and that he didn't care what I thought about it either. Wow, way to care about customers, and even regulars, 'til now anyway. Guess your raunchy movie smut matters more. So bye then. I'll be going where workers have class and care about their customers above themselves. This lower review has actually been a long time coming. Even when they're not busy, it's difficult to get a drink order in because the staff is busy off in the corner chatting with each other. I'm going to miss the quality beers I got to discover here, but I won't miss the customer service issues one bit. read more

DRINKS: They have a large list of beer I can't even name all of them or tell you where to start. They have everything you are looking for. Just by looking at the bar they have over 50 beers on tap which means you will get something that you love. AMBIANCE: This place feels really old and dark but it's great. You got two pool tables where you can play for free just make sure you don't put your drink on the pool tables they don't like that OVERALL: If you want great beer this is the place to go. Jimmy is one of the reasons I frequent the joint. He knows his beers, he knows the breweries and he is a fan of good food. His tenders are spot on and courteous. I can get a bit stuffy in there but do not worry, they have a patio, Music and a restroom that is not for shy pee-ers. Clean unless they have unruly customers. They have food vendors from time to time, some are regulars other may have been there a few times. Personally I like when @baserrikopeppers shows up, or the BBQ youngsters. Came here after Golden Road, which seems like a theme, LOL! This place is really cool and the staff is really down to earth. The bouncer, the two bartenders that helped me and the guys out back hooking up the BBQ. We didn't eat but we did enjoy throwing a couple of beers back. They have an extensive list, which was a little overwhelming for me and my friends and hubby so we asked the bartender what she advices and as always, I forget the names. But I like lager, the hubby wanted something hoppy and he got a Highland Park Brewery beer. They also have a really cool jukebox and the bartender put in a couple of bucks and lets have at it.
