So I would never think to do a review on this place .....but I came on Yelp looking for a different spot to have lunch and it suggested this spot.....and I go here all the time... ...so here is the deal......this place is a hole in the wall type bar......it looks old and even a little gloomy ......BUT.....this place has TONS of personality.......I work close by so of course I stop by for happy hour......the drinks are super affordable.....and have a lot of kick in them......and the bar food is GOOD you would not think it came from here......so if you are looking for an upscale bar......this is not your spot.....if you don't mind a rinky dinky pub you will love this place......oh and you have to go on Thursday.......the happy hour is super cheap.....and drinks start as low as $3 ( I think) at 3pm.....and go up a dollar each hour until the are back to regular price......oh and take cash.... read more

This is a diamond in the rough! The drink specials on Tuesdays are out of this world. Where do you get top shelf liquor for $3???The bartenders are patient and they make sure they know what you want. The wings are delicious. They can make them with Buffalo Sauce, but I'd prefer mine just fried with hot sauce in the side. Best bar I've been to in the Bronx. It's walking distance from Yankees Stadium and close to the Subway. The food is excellent and drinks are properly made. Thursday through Sunday's have excellent DJ's and music...Sunday Funday is my favorite...you show up at 1pm and it's 10pm before you know it. Multiple TV's etc. to watch your favorite team. went to the islanders vs rangers game at yankees stadium and we found this bar a few blocks from the stadium. Food was amazing and it was a great atmosphere, too bad the islanders lost otherwise it would have been a perfect night. The cheeseburger and wings were excellent. Diamond in the rough! I was in the bronx on business and stopped in this place for lunch. From the outside looked like you average local bar. Inside the place was very clean. The food? OUSTSTANDING! I was figuring to stop ion just have a beer and a burger but a couple of items not typically on a bar menu caught my attention. No idea but Salmon A la parilla just seemed liked an un-obvious choice but I had to go with it. It came with a salad and choice starch ( I went baked potato) Side salad comes out and its in a typical wood bowl but did not look typical. Real nice presentation, something you would think you would find at a high end small plates joint. The salmon comes out and was just as dressed up as the salad. The fish was a generous portion that was cooked to perfection. The flavors i cant even describe, it was delicious! Boy was i ever shocked. This place would be a great place to go to before a Yankee game anytime or if you heading down the major degan its a must stop. read more

Living in the Bronx you very rarely find a high quality bar and that's just what Glenroy is. From the outside it looks tiny but it opens up to two rooms both with full bar and even an outdoor patio in the back. The biggest surprise is not just the secret of it's size but the amazingly great food. I went in for after work drinks with a my friend because it was local. I wasn't very hungry but just wanted typical bar food. Ordered my drink (which was strong...just how I like em) and asked for a menu. Shocker not your typical bar food. But at that time I was skeptical so I ordered a chicken cutlet fried with an order of waffle fries and my friend ordered a batch of wings. Delicious! I almost regretted not being a little more adventurous in my choice. The presentation of the food seemed out of place based of off of the outdoor appearance but was still appreciated and the quality of food and service did not go unnoticed.
