HUNTER, THANK YOU! My friend recommended that I check out Glazer's Camera store. For background, I am a yoga teacher trying to maneuver through the virtual world. My experience in photography is mostly film, using my late grandfather's Canon AE-1. I was so close to writing this company a bad review & Hunter saved the sale. I believe in supporting small local businesses & I was so excited to support Glazer's when my friends had recommended them.  My first experiences at the main store & rental store were not great. I was left feeling less than & that the employees really didn't care if they actually helped me. They made me feel like I was asking "too many stupid questions". I called them a few times trying to get to different people to see if they would be helpful with my rental & with no luck the workers still seemed careless. Until I called back one last time & Hunter answered the phone. He could tell that I was frustrated at this point. I told him my experience & he apologized at length & offered to cover my rental fee from the rental store. He then proceeded to go above and beyond by offering me an appointment to meet with him that next week to sit down & find the perfect camera together. He made me feel like he really cared about helping me. I ended up buying a $2,000+ camera all because of Hunter. I've been in multiple times to ask him questions about the camera & he's always responded cheerfully & respectfully. He explains things really well. He also informed me about a free photo class a few days after I bought my camera. I really appreciated the photo classes with Kate Hailey. Learned so many great things about the Fuji XT-4. I understand that photography is a niche hobby & there is a lot of lingo & varying degrees of expertise. But, please don't make people feel stupid for asking questions. It's already intimidating walking into a camera store. Thank you again Hunter for helping me. I am so happy to support small & local & you proved to me that it was worth giving my money to Glazer's. I bought a Nikon camera kit from Costco and was looking to upgrade my lenses to include a wide angle and macro lens. This is the place to go! Super helpful and enthusiastic staff with a great selection. I had been shopping online and was steering towards a lens at more than twice the price. Passionate camera people, full of knowledge and sound advice. The worst part of about being a photographer is the sheer amount of goodies which are available. From lenses, camera bodies, and more accessories than you can imagine, to the staff here, who each know almost everything about these things, Glazers has been my end all, when it comes down to finding anything camera. If you need something camera, you have it, will have it, or can get it for you. I have been here, many times... this particular occasion I came in to get missing plastic screw on cover for one of my cameras. I didn't have much hope after going to a few other places, but after talking to the sales person there, he knew in a few seconds what I was missing, and I had it in my hands shortly. This place is a no nonsense shop. If you want something, just ask. If you don't know what you are looking for, just ask. They service all levels of photographer, which under some instances, the sales person may sound insensitive if you are a newbie, but rest assured, they have always had customers best intentions, and if you spend the time with the sales person, you will know everything about your camera, even before you checkout, if you ask. You might have to wait a moment to be helped; it's busy there most of the time. I think the rule here is; they service many professionals who don't need the detailed demo or explanation, so they don't offer it sometimes, however; If you ask for help, they will answer. This place should be your absolute resource, when I want something, they have it, Camera stuff, lighting stuff, technology stuff, used camera stuff, pretty much anything photographic or video related, they have the stuff; and ready to try, before your buy, which is pretty much awesome. read more

I come here for film or paper, which they have LOTS of and they've never been out of stock of what I've wanted. It's an expensive hobby (or profession) so you have to expect some sort of pricey prices. But still, I would say they are fair compared to the rest of the world. The people that work here are hip and cool. Some of them quite dreamy that creates cartoon hearts in my eyes that sometimes float away and pop above my head. A lot of the people that come in here are the artsy fartsy people, of course, but that's where we (yes I am including myself in this bracket) feel confident and cool, right? I mean you wouldn't want to go to some place with a bunch of old retired folks wanting to play bingo. Ugh. No pleasure could possibly be derived from photo equipment and bingo night. Photo is a dying artform. Yes, with the influx of digital photography in your device that was designed to make calls, everyone is a freakin photographer these days. Except when it comes to film. This place can rightly still consider itself a photo store because of the huge selection they have available. They have digital stuff too but.. really, the film is where it's at. read more

Glazer's is hands down the best camera store experience I've had. I've been an avid photographer for many years and bought my share of camera equipment, but I've never loved the typical camera store experience... which is typically characterized by rude sales people, poor selection, and inflated prices. I worried that Glazer's would be the same, but I couldn't have been more wrong. I went to Glazer's today without knowing what I wanted. I had my eye on the Fuji X100F, but was also thinking about trying my hand at off camera flash photography. At a typical camera store, this indecision might have caused the sales person to check out and figure I wasn't going to buy anything. Not so with my visit to Glazer's. Chad did a great job of walking me through the features of the X100F. He told me about a few features I hadn't heard of... impressive since I'd been reading reviews obsessively. When I shifted focus to flashes, Chad was knowledgeable about the flash system I was looking at and excited to show me the different flashes and modifiers. I ended up purchasing a flash, transmitter, and modifier kit and getting some good advice on how to put it all together. Normally this level of service would come with a price premium vs Amazon or B&H photo, but everything I looked at was the same price as those other sites. I got a new digital camera here and I love it! I take way too many pictures of my kid. It's probably because she's the cutest thing in the whole damn world. So I got a little tired of my only Sony cybershot digital camera and begged the boy to help find a new one for me. He brought me here. While some of the staff seem like arrogant douches, the women tend to be much friendlier and we ended up with a smart, sweet woman that helped us find the perfect camera. She let us touch and play with everything. She told us pros and cons and let us take her picture a ton of times. The poor girl was probably blind the rest of the day! After considering all the pros and cons we went with a lovely Cannon powershot and we're still really happy with it. She recommend useful accessories that were not overpriced useless items. And their store is filled with lots of other eye goodies too. I know I will be back to stock up on photo paper. And drool over real cameras. read more

Photography supply and camera stores are slowly going away just as film photograph has gone to digital. There's only a couple of truely good camera stores in Seattle and Glazer's and Kenmore Camera come to mind as what's basically left in Seattle. The problem is they are staffed with camera intellectuals that seem to not know how to connect with normal customers nor realize that customer service is the only thing that will differentiate them from buying from the internet or going to Portland and not paying sales tax. If I have to make the purchase at full price + sales tax and can't wait for a 3-5 days to get it by mail, then Glazer's is one of the only places in Seattle where you can buy must have expensive camera gear to complement my Canon. The one thing that keeps me coming back is that I'm addicted to the ThinkTank camera bags and they are a dealer. My collection of ThinkTank bags is now almost the size of my NorthFace jacket collection which is out of control. Another nice thing about Glazer's is their annual Photo Festival that occurred 11th and 12th of June. It's really something you can't miss if your into Canon or Nikon cameras and want to get a 15% discount. read more

What a wonderful camera store! I've lived in several states and always frequent the local camera store and quite honestly this is one of the best I've ever seen! An amazingly knowledgeable and friendly staff combined with a great deal of varied and quality products at good prices! Today I came in to check out the Godox AD200 flash system and found that the prices were the same here as online. I had some questions and Clara was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and took great care of me! After talking about the flash system for a while as well as her introducing me to a wonderful soft box, I ended up going with a couple of items and will probably be back soon for a couple more. After what I went downstairs to look at something in the camera section and the gentleman who helped me was also extremely knowledgeable and friendly. About a week or two ago I went into take a look at the Canon EOS R. I was helped by yet a different gentleman who is also extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I'm very happy with this store and glad to live near it. I will definitely be back for more products and I encourage you to stop by if you're in the area! They also have a wonderful rental department which is a couple of blocks away and right next to the rental department is a very helpful camera repair shop. read more

This has to be the best camera store in Seattle. I think it says something that in the age of Amazon, where most locally owned brick and mortar businesses are closing, Glazer's is going strong. The gorgeous new location is packed with everything you need to take great photos. I initially wanted to find out about trading in my camera, so I got a price quote and it was less than what I had been offered on Offer Up. No worries, they still gave me great service and answered all my questions and told me if the sale fell through their offer stood for 7 days. I sold my camera I went straight back to Glazer's to purchase my new camera. They actually had the camera I was interested in, lightly used, for $400 less than new. The camera looked flawless and only had an 800 shutter count (sometimes I take 800 photos in a day or two) and even included a lens hood. I decided to go for it since I am not made of money and it came with a 60 day warranty if anything goes wrong. When I got home I found out the wrong battery charger was in the box. I went back the next day and Glazer's gave me a new-in-box battery charger, no questions asked. That's what I call great service! I worked with Dion who was their buyer and Fuji expert. What a great sales person! Super knowledgeable, enthusiastic and interested in your needs; not selling the best/most expensive model. Yes, you can shop around on Amazon and find what you're looking for at a lower price, but sometimes you need some expert knowledge and hands-on experience to help you with your decisions. When that time comes, go to Glazer's, ask for Dion and feel good shopping at a great local business. read more

This place has EVERYTHING! I spend most of my time upstairs getting paper and film. I'm learning about developing my own which can seem overwhelming but not with the staff here. I'm grateful for the wealth of knowledge Bill has shared with me about darkroom supplies, enlargers, paper and even Ansel Adams' zone system. Wow, I haven't been to this store in years. Having just moved back to Seattle i needed some supplies and went to the best place i knew...and it was still around. Great! So many camera stores are disappearing or changing to an online-only model. I get it, it's hard for retail locations to stay above water. Camera equipment in just one of those things you have to see up close before you spend money on new gear. With 90% of the old stores gone, what's left are the places that focus on customer service and friendly atmosphere. This was my camera store years ago, and it still is today! read more

I choose to shop at Glazer's versus shopping around online for many reasons: 1. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The staff is incredibly kind, knowledgable and helpful. A big shout out to Kevin the lighting specialist. He assisted me the past two times I've been in the lighting department and each time was able to answer all my question and offer excellent guidance. In fact, I learned so much from him that it felt like I not only purchased great gear but also got a concentrated lesson out of it...saving me tons of time in research and experimentation. 2. COMPETITIVE PRICING: They manage to stay quite competitive in pricing with the online market and you get the added benefit of trying out lenses and products in person before making a decision. (and once again, the customer service is way better than what you'd get from BHphoto, etc) 3. EVENTS: They put on regular events hosting teachers from around the country. I'm going to a $50 class for free because I made a Wescott purchase. In that way, the investments you make in your business or hobby will reach a lot further here. My favorite offering of Glazer's is the annual Photofest convention. The networking I did there has already landed me a few gigs. read more

Although I do not often get into Seattle, I have numerous times called Glazers for information about lenses and cameras. I am a Nikkon shooter and I have to say that Cody does an AWESOME job of helping explain things about the camera and lenses and was able to relate to what was important to me. I simply love the crew here. I've been living in Seattle since 2007 and Glazer's quickly became my resource for photography gear, film, and local photo events like their annual Photo Fest. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and always willing to help me out. I love being able to walk into the store, put my hands on gear that I'm contemplating purchasing and then having a conversation with individuals who know how that gear works, what it offers and can also provide other options. Glazer's also has a wonderful used section, gear rentals and workshops. These kinds of resources aren't available in every city, so I'm hopeful that the Seattle community continues to support Glazer's. read more

I used to like this place but my last two visits have soured me substantially. The first one was when I was shamed by the bored salesman into buying their most expensive ND filter. This time the (different) bored salesman basically mocked me for shooting Pentax and said it was all 'going buh-bye'. I'm not even brand loyal but there's no need for the way the condescension to drip quite so thickly. I have been a professional photographer for almost 20 years and my Pentaxes (Canons, Nikons and Sonys) have done me proud all those years. When you're out of town or as a local and you need to stock up on any equipment: it's the place to go. I thought it was fairly reasonable/a bit cheaper on certain products of a price. Stock up on your instax here. Random tip: If you're out of town and will fly back from sea-tac, maybe use up your film first (or for certain cameras), I got a shady person during TSA who said my cameras set off the alarms when one of them actually went through fine the first time.. so in the end I got foggy film.. a pat down, and a slow delay at checkpoint.. ): read more

He found me a well-suited model (a Fujifilm X-T30) which wasn't the camera I expected to buy, but turned out to be a sublime match. I usually love Glazer's. Unfortunately today my camera hit the ground and I hold Glazer's fairly responsible. I went in look for a plate to use on my Sirui tripod. I was sold something that seemed to fit. Turns out, it doesn't quite fit and my camera fell off my monopod. It was 30 bucks. I don't really want to drive back to Seattle for ,30 bucks especially after dropping my camera. If the person seeking the item didn't know, they should've just said that. We looked at the plate together, but had I known that they didn't really know, I would've looked closer at the fit. Just bummed. Glazer's is staffed with knowledgeable, friendly folks who always go the extra distance to make sure their customers walk away happy. Today I came in to buy a travel tripod and to take a look at a production monitor. The gentleman who helped me took the time to demonstrate the monitor with the same camera and lens combo that I often shoot with. It helped me decide to pull the trigger and get two for my shoot tomorrow. As he was ringing me up, a coworker stepped in and explained an audio feature that often gives new users issues and how to prevent it. That's good customer service! Unfortunately, I didn't have the PIN for my corporate credit card handy. The sales guy kept his demeanor and was extremely polite the whole time. He let me set the gear aside at the front desk. When I came back equipped with my PIN, another gentlemen literally searched both floors of the store to find the hardware doodad I realized I needed in addition to the gear I was picking up. Wandering around and talking to knowledgeable folks in a big, clean, friendly, professional shop like Glazer's is inspiring. Despite being born & raised in Seattle, 22 Aug 2017 was my first visit ever to the store. My visit was based on a friend's recommendation. My intention was to compare the size of the Sony a7 II against the Fujifilm X-T20 and buy one. The staff was hit and miss, though there were more hits than misses. The first salesperson ignored me despite being one of only 3 parties shopping. Once he came around, he grabbed the cameras then stood with his arms folded across his chest, refusing to be helpful other than to oversell the Sony brand. The last question I asked him was, "is the just one positive thing you can say about the Fujifilm?" The response I got from him was simply a condescending look, so I informed him I'd made a decision and that was to buy online. On the way out, I stopped to look at a few more items when another salesman, Kamali, offered to assist. Upbeat, outgoing and knowledgeable, he offered to show me both cameras again and answer any questions. All I chose to ask at that point was, "in your opinion, what's the 1 best feature of each." I decided to buy the Fujifilm. He also convinced me to return with my old camera (Sony RX100mIV) for trade-in and to do both transactions at the same time. I agreed and began to leave after thanking him. On the way out again, I changed my mind and decided just to buy the camera and return another day and to just put my used camera toward a second lens. Kamali was busy with another customer when Dion offered to help. He gladly rung it up, ensuring me Kamali would get credit for the sale. Despite that, he explained to me all of their policies then informed me of their classes and events, specifically an intro and an advanced course taught by a Fuji rep for new X-series camera owners. Dion was also very upbeat, high energy and very courteous. The store is brand new with an open showroom and enough room for everything without feeling cluttered. Most of the staff are friendly and eager to help. Their calendar is full of events and classes to help guide everyone from beginners to the semi-pros. Prices are competitive and they have a wide selection of pre-owned items. They also have a location dedicated to rental hardware so you can test drive an item or borrow glass you'd never use frequently enough to justify ownership. Best of all, they are a full service dealer, providing a single point of contact for warranty issues, repairs, service and support. If you plan to drive there, they have their own parking garage that's free for customers; a nice perk so you can put your money toward new gear rather than Seattle's exorbitant parking fees. read more

Came in looking to buy a camera and was immediately impressed by the selection. I was lucky enough to have Devin as my salesman, he was extremely knowledgeable and eager to help. I spent probably an hour debating between three cameras and Devin was nothing but helpful the whole time. The rest of the staff seemed nice as well. Overall, I would buy a camera from here again. It's far better than shopping on amazon because you get help from experts, get to try all the cameras, and the prices are the same as amazon (at least in my experience). read more

They seem like they want to do a good job but in the end I don't think they give a shit about their customers. Twice I have purchased expensive items there - the Nikon aw1 which is advertised as being waterproof, which it is absolutely not and neither Nikon nor glaziers is backing their product to either get me my money back or a new, improved aw1 And then recently I purchased the tamron 150 -600mm lens and while it worked doing test shots at home, once I got into the field on my first use, the camera malfunctioned. Now this brand new lens is back at tamron getting fixed and I have fairly perfect shooting conditions this weekend but no lens Maybe if I told them my work has been commercially and editorially published all over the world, they would be more inclined to help me, but it shouldn't matter, a customer is a customer. And glaziers will never get my business again. read more

Gorgeous & well-stocked camera store! My husband and I stopped in during our vacation to pick up a camera strap and some Fuji Instax film (ours had been left behind in California). The red aesthetic and open space of the shop is really cool. Love the use of tool box-style drawers for behind the counter shelving! The store has a nice variety of camera brands, from your Canon staples to Leica beauties and plenty of Fuji and Olympus cameras (which are what we shoot and sadly not found at every store). Lots of lenses in stock and used pieces for sale as well. The store is huge, with a second floor of lighting equipment and classroom space we didn't even get to explore. Added bonus: customer bathrooms upstairs! As a first time visitor to the busy Space Needle area, this cannot be overvalued! :) If you need camera gear or accessories while touring Seattle, this is the place to go! read more

Ok, I walk in. There are at least 10 staff people (mostly men) working. Not a single one offers help or assistance. Apparently, their employees don't understand that customers give them money, which in turn, keeps them in business. I have defended their bad service to other camera hounds in the past, but no more. They have been my go to camera shop for decades. Some staff are friendly and welcoming, some are not, but all are knowledgable. Their temporary location is small as is their selection, I hope the new digs are bigger and better. Their prices are higher than online stores, but I try to remember that buying locally is a good thing. 2/6/2017 Their new store is absolutely amazing! I stopped by to get some additional memory cards and to look at the Nikon D5. I was clear with the salesman that Looking through the glass case would be fine because I was not going to buy, but the salesman took it out anyway, and allowed me to play with it for a while with absolutely zero pressure to buy. I really appreciated that, and once I win the lottery will by the $6400 D5 from them. Due to their new location, large inventory, and sales staff, I now give them a solid 5 STARS! read more

Alright, I'm updating my review based on how Glazer's Camera handled my complaint. I'm impressed that they followed up and I figure I'll give them another shot. -------------------- Believe me, I want to like Glazer's Camera. I really want to like them. I am a firm believer in supporting small, local businesses for many different reasons and, as a photographer, supporting a photography store is high on my list. However, today I am throwing in the towel with these guys. Every single experience I have had at Glazer's Camera has been poor. When I was first starting out in photography, I went to Gazer's to buy my first DSLR. The sales person was so stuck up and arrogant that every question I asked was met with sighs like, "I can't believe I have to explain this to you." Whatever. I can't hold the whole store responsible for one bad sales rep. I went in several more times and wasn't thrilled with the service but it wasn't terrible enough to really mention. Today, however, I went in with my daughter to get a quote on selling a lens. We first had to wait in a line at the front (about 10 minutes) for the guy behind the counter to tell me that we needed to speak to a buyer and that he would get one for me. 20 minutes of waiting later (and trying to entertain my 8 year old) I was approached and asked if I was being helped. I said not yet and explained that I wanted a quote on my lens. The guy said that I needed to speak to a buyer (yep - I knew that) and that he would find one for me. 20 more minutes of waiting and watching everyone around me getting help, I gave up and left. To be fair, the crew today was very kind (for the most part), they were just busy I guess. Poor management? They told me that half of their crew was at a trade show downtown. I was also at that show and it had ended two hours earlier. Regardless, they clearly did not have a plan for covering their missing crew members. I can't afford to wait almost an hour to get a quote on a lens. I'm done with this company which is a bummer since I really do want to like them. read more

If you enjoy being made feel like a dumbass and an idiot for asking questions then go ahead and stop by the digital photography department of Glazer's. The three men that worked there had some sort of weird superiority complex and sneered at my inquiries about digital work flow. I really wanted to kick all three of them in the nuts but my mother taught me better... Little did they know that I was ready to shell out cash that day to purchase a Canon digital SLR, two EF lenses plus whole bunch of other accessories. So out I walked like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman from that fru fru shop on Rodeo Drive. At this time, I'd like a moment of silence and dedicate a virtual international sign of half peace to Glazer's. The people in the film camera department are much nicer but it's too bad because I am NEVER going to spend any money there. Ever. read more
