I love this shop and am happy to say I've spent a decent amount of my hobbyist photographer money there over the years. The staff is knowledgeable and engaged, providing good information and recommendations. While not as extensive as someplace like Adorama or B&H, Kenmore Camera still has good selection and will usually have what I'm looking for. I'm also pleased with the value provided, especially because they will price match some of those bigger shops, allowing me to consider spending my limited budget here, rather than sending it out of state. I even learned last year about their classes, which I've happily been taking advantage of over the last, six months. The only reason I've deducted a star (and I'd rather have only deducted a half a star), is that some of the staff are a little too focused on their commission. As someone who has worked retail for twenty years I get it. If that's the earnings structure at your job then you do what you have to do, but one gentleman in particular made me feel like I had wronged him, personally, when I spoke with a different associate when I came back in to make a purchase I had been considering. Yes, he was the random person who ended up answering my questions on my first visit, but that doesn't mean I feel like I had some kind of contract with him as a result. On my last trip to Washington, I stopped by one of my favorite camera stores, Kenmore Camera in Kenmore, WA. I used to visit all the time, but since moving out of state it is a bit tougher to make the trip. Still, I wanted to check out their used Nikon gear and see what was new. It does seem like they don't have quite as much used inventory as they used to. That said, being able to actually test the lenses in person is still a huge advantage. It's one of the main reasons I keep coming back. I tried out a used 50-150mm, but it was focusing a little slower than I needed. The 180mm lens I tried ended up being on the soft side, not as crisp as I was hoping for, and the 200mm 4f was surprisingly quick in focusing. If I wasn't planning on using this lens in low light situations, it would have been a great find at the price, and that's exactly why trying things in-store matters. The awesome guy who helped me out was great. Super knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely tried to find something that would work for me. He even checked the back to see if they had anything else tucked away. I didn't end up buying anything this time, but the customer service and the conversations is what always brings me back. *Now in German for all the world travelers* Das letzte Mal als ich in Washington war, bin ich natürlich bei Kenmore Camera in Kenmore vorbeigegangen. Ich habe ein gebrauchtes 50-150mm getestet, aber der Fokus war etwas langsamer, als ich bräuchte. Die 180mm war leider etwas unscharf, dafür hatte die 200mm f/4 mega schnell fokussiert, das hat mich echt überrascht. Wenn ich diese nicht auch bei wenig Licht einsetzen müsste, wäre das zu dem Preis echt ein super Deal gewesen. Und genau daher ist es so wichtig, die Sachen im Laden auszuprobieren. Der Typ, der mir geholfen hat, war einfach toll. Total kompetent, mega geduldig, und er hat wirklich versucht, irgendwas zu finden, das für mich passt. Er hat sogar hinten im Lager noch mal geschaut, ob da noch irgendwas rumliegt. Almost perfect FUJIFILM X100 VI pre-order SCAM from Kenmore Camera [https://kenmorecamera.com/] Hi FUJIFILM X100 VI fans, Just in case you are one of those like me still want to get one here, I would like to share my most recent pre-order experience with the Kenmore camera. My sole purpose here is to help you identify/avoid similar pre-order scams. I want to go to the conclusion first: Fuji x 100vi pre-order from Kenmore is a almost perfect scam, but it's not, meaning you can totally identify alarming flags in the process and your money could be refunded. And my Kenmore camera pre-order story goes like this: On Mar 1st, I pre-ordered Fuji x 100vi from Kenmore camera, I paid $109 for it and provided my current address in WA with pre-order. On May 15th, I received an email from Kenmore, saying they can fulfill my order, within the email there is a Paypal invoice link to pay the full amount of Fuji x 100vi camera. I somehow missed the email and this Paypal invocie link been canceled later. On May 19th, I received another email from Kenmore camera to fullfill my order. This time also included a Paypal invoce link. I didn't miss it this time, and I paid it. Later I receiving email from UPS saying that my package gonna be delivered on May 23rd. On May 23rd, something very interesting happened, UPS shows the package was delivered to a different address in CA.(The shipping address I provided in pre-order is in WA). I guess something went wrong with Kenmore's payment & shipping system, so I called Kenmore to report this issue. Guess what happened next? Without confirming my account, or my order-id, or my shipping address, they simply just want to me to confirm the CA address is an old address of mine, and they are saying it is taking from my Paypal account, and they can't do anything about it, told me to dispute with Paypal. I later disputed that transaction with Paypal, Kenmore replied it immediately, and provided with two supporting docs, one of which is proof of delivery. What if I call Paypal to follow up this dispute? I did call Paypal later, cause I want to know how did Kenmore get the CA address. Interestingly, Paypal customer service says pretty much similar as Kenmore, like I need to update my current adddres in Paypal to avoid something like this to happening again. If I stopped from here, Kenmore gonna win this, even with the dispute with Paypal. Could this be a perfect scam? or I just missed some details here? I started digging more on this: Why was May 15th's Paypal invoce been canceled? I tried to compare it with the one on May 19th, aha! there is a difference: May 15th's tax is calculated with CA, but May 19th tax is calculated with WA. Why did they cancel the one on May 15th? cause that could be the proof that they changed my shipping address to CA without my authorization. I downloaded the proof of delivery Kenmore provided to Paypal and compared it with the one I obtained from UPS. They are different in two places: the final shipping address is different, they added a signature to it (the package is sigature required) So they fabricated a proof of delivery to PayPal. Luckily, I paid it with a credit card, so I called the credit card issuer to dispute it. The case has been close within 2 business days and I recevied fully refund. I want to share this here, cause I know we all love this camera and I don't want you to go through the fuss again like me. read more

After spending almost a year trying to hunt a Canon G7 Mark XII down on the internet, Jim at Kenmore Camera was able to get me one in two weeks! I called to ask about them and Jim was super helpful, knowing all about the demand issues with Canon and ensuring me that they'd have some by the holidays. He was able to put me on a waitlist and said he'd call as soon as they got another shipment. He got a shipment about a week and a half after I called and I went in today to pick up my camera. Purchased a vintage Graflex Speed Graphic Anniversary model from Kenmore Camera online-- the same model camera my father used as a combat photographer back in 1950. I was a bit hesitant to pull the trigger on the purchase, as I was unable to physically see and hold the camera and had to rely on their used camera department for information. The personnel at Kenmore really knew their stuff. They were professional, prompt and thorough in their email responses which was very much appreciated. Assured that the camera was in the same condition depicted on the company's website, I made the purchase and was glad I did. The Graflex shipped promptly, was very well packaged to avoid damage in transit, and arrived clean and in great shape. Finally found an affordable lab to get film developed! Dropped film off on a Saturday evening and the negatives were ready in just a couple of days. Being located in downtown Seattle, I was paying ~$20 per roll for developing + scans with turnaround time being a week at the least, but this place is half the price! Only downside is they don't do cloud transfer so you have to provide a flash drive or CD if you want scans as well. It's a bit of a drive if you're in Seattle (since you'd have to come once to drop off the film and then a second time to pick it up), but totally worth it if you save up your rolls and get them processed all at once. Highly recommend :-) read more

I attended one of their sale events this past weekend, specifically for a free 8x10 art print and a studio lighting class. I went on Sunday, and unfortunately even though the rep for getting an art print was on site - the art prints are only on Friday and Saturday. I'd encourage Kenmore to make this distinction more clear in future event flyers. That said, the class about studio lighting was great. Evan Parker and Vetala Hawkins were both super knowledgeable and informative about getting my camera setup to work with the lighting kit they provided. They were patient and allowed me some extra time to work with the model Hailey H, because it took me a while to get everything sorted out on my side. I don't understand this company. A large part of their business is Internet sales, and their store is one of the largest camera stores I've ever seen. Maybe the unrestrained theft that is plaguing Seattle has made it difficult to staff the store anymore: if that's the case, wouldn't Internet sales be a source of profit that otherwise is walking out the door? I bought 9 lenses (7 new); 1 Canon EOS camera, and a heavy tripod for astrophotography from them: one of the lenses alone was over $5,000... but my next 4 orders placed over the internet had no response from the store:. So, I called them to order the items and never got a return call to provide a price for completing a cash sale. My emails to the store -- to no one person in particular -- went unanswered. I called the store during business hours: my call went to voicemail, and never had a response. I called back several times with the same result. I've been very professional in my contact with them : they know I'm a member of Canon Professional Services, so that has to ring some bells somewhere in the store. My customer profile must say a lot about whom I am... but for reasons unknown, they're just not responding. I even went to the trouble of sending them a letter by snail-mail, which hasn't solicited a response. So, from where I sit, Kenmore Camera has a great selection of photography gear, expensive prices, and next to zero customer service. Whoever owns the store must be bleeding red ink from a hundred wounds. I have no idea what they're doing. Neither do they. read more

Sales rep Ted was initially very helpful he showed my son a great used camera for his birthday but when we came back 2 days later they had sold it after promising to put it aside taking my sons number, needless to say he was very disappointed. I own a Sony A6300 and was in need of my sensor to be cleaned. I called ahead to check if Kenmore Camera would do a sensor cleaning and they were more than happy to help me! The person on the phone said the cleaning usually has a 24 hour turn around time and that if you need it rushed, they could do that too, with extra charges (like $20 extra I think) I dropped my camera off on Tuesday, they said it might take a day longer since they had a queue. Which was fine by me, as long as I got it back before the weekend. So the guy at the store marked my camera for a Thursday pickup, but I actually got a call Wednesday saying my camera was ready! Today is Thursday, I just swung by and picked up my camera and so far I am super happy with my sensor cleaning! Here is what I got at the store: - sensor cleaning $70 (steep, but if I do a cleaning once a year, I am ok with paying this) - replacement eye cup for my Sony A6300 $10 (I lost mine) - lens cap to lens attachment $2 This store was great! I was about to buy a remote too, but the guy who worked there actually talked me through my camera settings and how to use the wireless remote that is part of my camera! I wish I caught his name, but he was really informative and helpful! I definitely love this shop and hope more and more people go to it! Great selection of camera gear! Oh also, a couple of my friends who shoot in film get their film developed here. So there's that too! read more

My first time here, but wow, I am SO impressed. I've been a photography enthusiast for years but have always bought from online (Adorama, B&H, Amazon). I wanted to trade in a very old camera and lens (my 1st camera ever as a high school graduation gift). I came to this local shop since I saw mixed reviewed regarding Adorama/B&H gear trade ins. Kenmore Camera quickly and cheerily picked up the phone when I had questions, and gave me a quote within a day using their online form. Unfortunately my gear was too damaged to trade in, but they kindly explained the issues and what I could still do with it. Luckily, I happened to come at their sale, and was able to snag a nice new Tamron lens at $150 discount! Everyone was super nice and happy to explain everything (and patient with my toddler too). The shop is huge and has everything. They have photography classes, used gear, and new gear. Very glad to be able to support a local business. Everyone at Kenmore Camera has always been professional and friendly. Kenmore also usually has a good selection of used equipment. Their used film camera pricing is some of the best I've seen compared to any online retailer.
