The store is excellent, but the rental shop is NOT for newbies. Barely acknowledged except to be stared at when I walked in even though I was the only customer. Guy behind the counter didn't even try to help me find what I was looking for even though I was clear I was new at photography and what I wanted to shoot. Started the convo by suspiciously asking if I understood the deposit policy. Overall treated like an intruder. Great experience. I rented a telephoto lens for my Sony camera for a trip to Banff National park. I was able to quickly get the lens and it was more than a reasonable rate and much more convenient then using an online rental service. Plus the weekend only counts as a single day rental! Return was just as easy and they didn't charge me an extra day for being about an hour late past the return window. I'd definitely use Glazers again for photo/video equipment rental. read more

This is my second visit to this place. It fulfills the same function as a number of places online, only more expensive. If you have the time, you will get a better deal online. That being said, they have a good selection of high end lenses. If you want something specific, it's better to reserve it (in which case, why not order it online). They open at 8am, which means I can hit them up for a 2-day rental on my way to work on Friday and then return it on my way to work on Monday morning. They also do full lighting rigs, flashes, etc. Basically, anything you want for a weekend photography trip. If you like the lens, it's probably available to buy at their store around the corner. The process is relatively painless. They put a hold for the entire amount of the (cost of new) lens on a credit card of your choice (they take all of them) and then it is released when you bring it back and pay. You can get their rental list online, but they don't have current availability online, so you have to call or go in to figure out if the lens you want is actually available. read more

I rented a canon R6 and a 24-70mm f 2.8 from them a couple of weeks ago. I had a great experience getting in and out and speaking with the staff over the phone to reserve these items. However, when they gave me the lense that I called ahead of time to reserve, they said there was a known scratch on the lense and had none without a scratch when I requested a different one. I was reassured that it wasn't a significant scratch. I was shooting for an engagement and testing out this lense. There were several photos from the shoot where the light reflected off of the scratch. This rendered those photos useless even with a fully functioning camera. Kind of irritating I'm paying to rent damaged equipment, especially when I'm shooting for such an occasion. read more

It's such a shame that this is the first rental house in Seattle that pops up when you're on the search for camera rentals. I had read reviews on the establishment and flipped through a great catalogue of film equipment. The equipment is all excellent, in fact they will even sit there with you and put together a list along with you. However, nowhere do they mention that they will charge you 10X the retail deposit if it's your first time renting. They also tell you this AFTER you book the equipment. If I tell you my budget is pretty miniscule, do you really think I can FORK OVER a $9,000 deposit for $350 worth of equipment? I needed 3 C-Stands for a makeshift studio shoot in my apartment and was asked to drop a $500 deposit. $500. For $15 worth of rental equipment. Not only will you drop this $500, they will take their sweet time to put it back into your account. Don't expect to get any relief or kindness from the staff. They all are entitled and know more than you. Horrible attitudes. Again, the equipment is fine. Perfect, maybe. But don't expect to use them if you don't want to pull out of your life's savings or have a glowing credit score. read more

The team here is absolute all-stars and extremely helpful! We had a very last minute request this evening for a huge rental order and they pulled it together very quickly, staying after hours to make sure we were all set with all the gear we needed. I think what I appreciate the most is that even under a time crunch of being past their closing hours, they made sure to ask the right questions about how we planned on using the gear to ensure we weren't missing any necessary pieces we had overlooked when prepping the rental list. Wow! Honestly I was so afraid when I'm my $700+ camera lens got powder coated. I was worried I would just have to buy a new camera lens. Glazers got me a quote within a day and it wasn't the costs of a new lens. (Thank God) as a newish photographer I wanted to look at some new lenses. Even though I didnt buy anything, Ken still took the time to educate me more than anyone has in the last 3-4 years of doing photography. They called me when it was finished and it only took 1 week. I have used Glazer's to rent audio equipment for work done at trade shows and generally, they've been ok, but lately it seems the customer service has gotten worse. This last time I was in the staff was rude and they charged a $50 late fee for being two hours late on an 8 day rental (after getting back really late from a show the day before). This has never happened before and makes me wonder if they're nickel-diming to make up for slow business. Definitely plan to take business elsewhere. read more

Needed to rent a lens for an event that I was hired for. The process was quite simple and they explained everything I needed to know. The price for renting was reasonable and there were several options to pick from for the lens I needed. They were happy to let me try out the lens in the shop before renting to make sure it worked for my needs. Super disappointed! I flew to Washington for a photography retreat and had rented gear from Glazer's. I called ahead of time, made sure the gear was available, asked about pricing and insurance, etc.; I even let the sales associate know I was a new customer coming from out of state. When I arrived to the location (after walking from the airport with all of my luggage), I walked in to pick up my gear, and I was asked for a $1,000 deposit. I have called and spoken on the phone 4-5 times over the last several months to follow up about everything I would need. Not once was I told I needed a deposit....for $1,000 nonetheless! I have used rental companies where I live (California), and although I've been asked for deposits before, never THAT much money! That's outrageous! Furthermore, if this is standard, it should have been mentioned one of the 5 times I called and asked what else I needed to be prepared for my order. Ps, I attended the retreat WITHOUT ANY PHOTOGRAPHY GEAR. Glazer's -- please be sure your employees are handing out ALL of the correct information! I went in to ask for advice and to rent their equipment. Tony, the guy who helped me, was very unhelpful and seemed annoyed that I went in to ask question. I thought he just had a bad day and did not take it personal at all. The next day I went back in to confirm my reservation. This Tony guy gave me the equipment. I asked for his instruction and he said " just press the button", again with a very tired voice, sounds like he really just wants to be able to finish job asap so I can go smoke or something. Result, I followed his instruction to press the button but I lost all the audio. I came in and told the problem and clarified that I did ask Tony, which as a customer who is not tech-savvy at all, I would expect to be helped. Come on, Glazer guys. I do admire the inventory that you have, but it does not mean you need to treat me like a stupid person. My renting your equipment is part of your salary and pay you to be able to at least buy some smoke. Very disappointing at the customer service. read more

If there was somewhere else close to rent from I would go there instead. One star for having a lot of equipment but I hate dealing with anyone at this rental shop. My wife rented a Nikon 50mm lens for a wedding photo session and the lens worked out great. It was so nice to be able to pay $25 instead of buying the lens for $500. Totally worth it. My only criticism is that now she wants to upgrade to the same lens! Renting was a breeze. They take a $100 deposit and then you pay the rental fee upon return. Parking is right in front of the store and is free for 30 minutes. I'm sure we will be back again. Hopefully not too soon though, I can't afford expensive lenses on the monthly! read more

Wedding season is upon us and here I am thinking I'll support the local store. It's actually crazy convenient for me as I am a short drive to the shop. Parking right in front for free: swoop in and grab/ drop off your reserved equipment. I appreciate them being boom right here convenient for a fairly reasonable price. Some benefits I found: -Renting over the weekend: check out 3 pm on Friday and return Monday morning before 10 am is a one day rate. Whaaaaat. Thank youuu Sunday. -Renting on the weekday: check out after 3pm on Monday and return before 10 am Wednesday: Makes since, one full day rental and extra cushion. -After my second rental my deposit dropped significantly, not that that's important but it may be... they have other loyalty program things I've yet to discover but we'll find out. -Camera bodies come with two batteries and a 16gb class 10 SD card. Negatives: -I loove "nerding out" over equipment and so I have been a little sad no one here really seems like they want to with me. I get it though. It's usually pretty busy. And you hate your jobs. Or me. What evs. -BIG ONE! Reset the camera and wipe the SD card yourself before and after. Don't listen to them that they'll do it. Big no no. Went back to rent the same body as my second and guess what? All my files... all my info was still on the camera and card. And how do I know some one else got it between? The shot count. Mmm. That will suck if I see some one else out there with my work. My fault at the end of the day. It's nice getting to try equipment before you buy it. I found out I just don't need the 70-200. Today marks the second time I've used Glazer's rental equipment to help pull off awesome events. I'm so impressed with the rental options with regards to the types of video/camera equipment they rent. It's always in great condition, it's always easy to use, and it's so cheap! Just plunk down a card for a deposit and voila, you've got awesome professional lighting for a quick and easy photo booth! I'm not a photography expert by any means, either. I didn't even know what to rent the first time around and they helped me figure out what equipment I needed and made sure to show me how to assemble it and use it too. So great. I have rented from them several times. Almost everyone seems to be grumpy and annoyed to be serving us. It gets old quickly. They are relatively close and priced better for day rentals than our usual place so we will keep renting from there but it sure would be nice to get a smile every now and then. When I asked if they have specials the response summed up to me being mad. Otherwise they have good rates and great gear. They are really inflexible on drop off and pickup times fyi. Great to have a local option to pick up anything from cameras to lenses to strobes and stands for when you need it. I had a shoot recently where I needed to rent a couple extra flashes since my amazon order was delayed by over a week, and the whole process was painless. They even made sure to put fresh batteries in, even though I had already brought extras. I'll likely be back to try out a lens or two before purchasing. They are a bit more expensive than online rental options out there, especially for longer rentals, but if you need anything for just a day or two I would highly recommend them! read more

Amazing customer service! We were building a green screen photo booth and needed a lot of help creating the setup. Kevin spent considerable time assisting us through finding the perfect custom solution for us. From green screen, to lighting, to cases, Kevin helped us find everything we needed for our project. It was a relief to find someone so helpful and not condescending in any way, as you sometimes find with camera rental stores. Wish I could rate these guys 6 stars because of how customer oriented they are but I'll just share my story... I moved back up the the area for some long term photo + video work and needed to grab some gear. I didn't have the luxury of waiting for an online order so I called around to a few local photo stores and Glazers was the only place that had everything I needed - super nice! Here's the part where my review went from meh to freakin' amazing! I purchased the equipment on a saturday (thanks Jim!) and on Monday the price of an item dropped $300. I figured I was out of luck and needed to just absorb the loss but a friend urged me to call in and ask about receiving the discount post-purchase. I figured it was worth a shot so gave them a call.... I explained my situation to an employee named Cody who told me it was possible but it would have to be run through the next day to be sure. The next day I ended up receiving the discount and saved the $300 - no grumpy employees, just smiles and thank you's! Been going here for years but never left a review. Seattle, we're fortunate to have this place compared to renting gear online and the hassles associated with that. Great selection for what seems like a small warehouse next to the Space Needle. Deposits are extremely reasonable (They take Amex). No ridiculous sneak charges after the fact. Deposit goes on, deposit comes off, you're charged, easy enough. High end gear available as well. If you have a special person in your life who enjoys taking photographs, rent them something nice and go somewhere cool. Let them experience what's possible with exotic gear. Make sure you get your reservation in early though, I'd say a week out and you can have whatever. They might be able to accommodate last minute/next day requests but I wouldn't chance it especially on popular bodies/lenses and holidays. Bring your own SD or CF card though. Yes one is included with the bodies but really, it's so much easier. read more

This ended up making returning it incredibly convenient as the day it should have been returned was a day I had to work the day job. I came in to inquire about the rental rates and already the old white guy w grey/white hair acted as if he was displeased and and annoyed that i came in. I asked about renting a specific type of camera that i know very well about and he acted as if he knew more than me, even though he couldn't answer basic questions about the cameras. His tone was very condescending and rude. Walked out and drove to a different camera rental place. The rates for the cameras are really expensive, and each part of the camera has different rates. So if you want to rent a working camera (body, lens, film back) your total would be over $80 and that's just for 1 day. I was going to give 3 stars originally, but the guys who work there are so rude. read more

A joke to shop. They offer you pennies for your trade in and then go back and sell your item for thousands. I decided to ask how an "ok" Canon 135mm F/2.0L Lens sitting on the glass box was going for before showing them mine which is meticulously maintained and 2 years newer with warranty would be if I traded. They had the nerve to tell me mine cost half of what its worth!!! The guy at the Trade In window was so ashamed when I told him that I had asked for an exact lens in the store which by the way was 2 years older and it cost $400 more that what he was offering me. He then tried to bump it up a couple of hundred dollars, I just laughed it off and left, never to return, eBay offers better deals, heck I sold my lens on Craigslist for the exact price I bought it for minus tax. read more

So I went in this morning to rent some gear for the weekend. I got a Hasselblad 501c, 2 lens', a film back and a Polaroid back, and tripod. After a long drive up into the mountains and setting up the camera I realized that the Polaroid back does not fit the camera body they gave me. Shame on me for not checking. Let's face it, Glazer's has the monopoly of renting photo equipment, probably a well running business. They don't really need me, the semiprofessional occasionally renting customer. My advice, check out their pdf list for accurate pricing rather than relying on the offers they have on their website. Those may be outdated which I found out after being charged almost double.
