GK Pastry is absolutely amazing!! Thank you to my sister's gf for introducing us to this family owned bakery & all of its delectable carbs!! Wildly know for the super cute jar cakes, GK Pastry is so much more than that. Here you can find both savory and sweet focaccias, artisan sourdough breads, and an assortment of pastries. A few things I have tried: * Olive & Parmesan Sourdough * Pesto & Mozzarella Focaccia * Shiitake Mushroom and Gruyere Cheese Focaccia * Artichoke & Goat Cheese Focaccia * Beef Samsa Everything is so damn good!! Let me emphasize on "EVERYTHING". This joint is a sourdough carb lovers dream!! GK prides themselves on using only the freshest, organic, & natural ingredients. And if that already wasn't enough, there is so much quality and love behind each and every product made. Pricing is high but it is 100% justified. 5/5 stars, I'd enjoy these baked goods on the daily if that was remotely possible! This place comes highly recommended and if these high remarks don't do it for you... I'm sure the generous samples will! You're welcome in advance!
I am rarely out in the Mountain View area but I needed to pick-up something in the area. I did a search in bakeries in the Mountain View area and saw that GK Pastries had a high rating and reviews. I carved out time to visit the baker. I got to Mountain View early so I stopped at GK first. They had most of the baked goods available but still needed to finish baking the focaccia so I went to do my errand. I bought chocolate chip cookie, dark chocolate oatmeal cookies, oatmeal with raisins cookies, tomato and cheese sourdough, artichoke and truffle focaccia, mushroom and cheese focaccia, pistachio croissant, almond croissant, monkey bread and blueberry amaretti cookies, cinnamon bun and a loaf of sourdough country bread. All of baked goods were tasty, loved the focaccia and sourdough breads, the only letdown was the chocolate chip cookie, it tasted liked it sat out to long. The oatmeal cookies were very healthy and provably taste better with coffee, tea or a liquid beverage. I ate them as a snack during my walks so I didn't drink anything. The woman who helped me was nice. Quaint bakery. They had fresh warm samples in the morning when I got there. I was able to try out both breads that I bought. If I'm out in Mountain View again I will stop in and get some bread and focaccia, my favorites out of everything I bought.
GK Pastry is a grab and go bakery in Mountain View stocked with foccasia, bread loaves, cookies, jar cakes and so much more. What stands out about GK is their service. The owner is quite friendly and sweet. You can even tell by reading the responses to the reviews here on Yelp that the owner very clearly cares about the customer experience and making things right. We sampled a few breads in-store and were equally impressed by the quality. We ended up taking home tomato cheddar sourdough, oatmeal cookies with dark chocolate, and a mushroom Foccacia. * The tomato cheddar sourdough is excellent with a spongy texture and tangy flavor. We sliced it and threw it in the freezer to enjoy on lazy days. *The oatmeal cookies were delicious especially if you love chewy soft cookies. * Mushroom foccacia - this was a large portion, so I'm glad I shared this with my husband. The bread itself was a bit too soft for my liking. I prefer my focaccia to be a bit denser and crispy. The toppings were great- fresh with some acidity. Theres private parking lot right in front. They will heat up your Foccacia if you are ready to enjoy it. Theres not really any seating here but they do have two benches right outside the storefront.
A bit hyped? Maybe. Maybe not... I found GK Pastry to be very good, but a bit on the Pricey side. GK Pastry is definitely a bakery, at first glance I thought it was a cafe, but nope. There is no place inside to sit and enjoy the baked goods, grab your order to go. However, there is plenty of room for one to wait while your order is being prepped. Plenty of parking available in the plaza, so no worries there. #FocacciaEats: ~ Pistachio Dubai Chocolate Focaccia - 4/5 Brilliant interpretation of the trending Viral Dubai Chocolate theme. I haven't seen a Dubai Chocolate Focaccia until I devoured this. Very well done, not too sweet with a balanced amount of Pistachio and Chocolate. ~ Shiitake Mushroom Focaccia - 4/5 Another very good Focaccia. This is basically a slice of a Shiitake Mushroom Focaccia Pizza. Tastes exactly as advertised. I don't mind stopping by again if I'm in the area.
GK Pastry was a lovely find! I went early in the morning and they had a variety of croissants to choose from, jar cakes, breads, etc. I grabbed an almond croissant, chocolate croissants, and a pistachio croissant. I didn't catch his name, but the gentleman who helped me today was kind and had great energy for a Monday morning! I didn't notice any seating inside, but that would have been a nice addition. The croissants themselves were really yummy! The almonds were nice and toasty and the croissant was lightly buttery and flaky. My coworkers enjoyed the other croissants and commented how good they were.
I stopped by here to check out the bakery and grab one of the jar cakes. This is a nice little store. They have a variety of breads, treats, and jar cakes. The person at the counter was very friendly. He offered me tastings of a few different jar cakes and shared details about them. I decided to get the tiramisu jar cake which was really good--rich and flavorful. Although a bit pricy, the portion was huge. It lasted for 3 days, but don't be surprised if you finish it in a single sitting, it is that good.
Small bakery with amazing pastries, focaccia, and jar cakes! I first came here and got a slice of the focaccia of the day (which was a tomato and cheese one) and a pistachio croissant. The person working there asked us if we wanted it heated in advance, which was nice since we were about to head to the airport afterwards. The focaccia was delicious and soft. The pistachio croissant was divine. Good amount of crushed pistachios on top and the texture was great. I also picked up a jar cake, which I ate the next morning before leaving for a flight. You can definitely split the 8 oz one in at least 2 servings... eating it all in one serving was a bit too much, since it can be quite heavy. This one is definitely on the sweeter side since it's more of a cake. I came back again close to closing and got a cinnamon bun and pistachio croissant. I did come in with the expectation that they might be a bit stale since I came so late, but they were surprisingly not! The cinnamon bun was delicious and only $3.50. The pistachio croissant tasted as good as the first time. I'll definitely be back again soon - I want to try some of their other pastries and their bread!
Soft and edible sourdough bread. Every bite we took starting from the samplers in the jars next to back wall and actual loafs we brought home truly enjoyable. A good friend of ours recommended this place and we just had to try it out. The lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful. She also had me try the pistachio cookies just to make sure I had a sample before buying and I enjoyed it as well. In addition to the half loafs of bread (also can be sold as whole), I brought a crab focaccia and apricot-raisin oatmeal cookies, we bought half loaves of tomato, jalapeño and country style bread. The store is modern and menu easy to read. Their displays of bread behind the glass counter is joy for a bread lover like myself- like a kid in a toy store. They also have discounted hours from 6-8pm where the breads go on sale 30% off. Can't wait to get back here again when we need to reload on our bread needs but for now I'm going to take another bite after I type the last word on my review.
It was a smaller shop with little to no seating, some seating outside. We were greeted nicely and the worker explained the various breads, breads with toppings (think pizza) and some cookies. We ended up getting a sourdough margarita piece, some sourdough bread sticks, and gluten free cookies. The sourdough slice was soft, airy & light. It was a little greasy but not bad. I was not a fan of the cookie. They were fine just not as flavorful as I would have liked. Overall it was a good place to grab something quick and on the go.
Delicious focaccia, pastries, bread, desserts and coffee. No seating in the bakery so pretty much just a togo option, although Cuesta park is nearby for an impromptu picnic. I tried the hazelnut chocolate swirl ($4, one of the least expensive items), chocolate croissant, pistachio pastry and one of the focaccias as well as a drip coffee. Total was almost $40 so it adds up fast!
Lots of pictures taken. Go ahead and drool. Everything delicious. If I had known they gave out samples of cookies, I would have asked. They had samples of the 5 breads. I tasted the tomato and cheese and was so good that I had to buy. The cream puffs were on sale since they were day old. They were amazing. The cream inside is addicting. The plain hugh croissant was telling me to buy it. Flaky and doughy, and bread inside. That beef samsa (reminds me of Indian samosa but not fried) was so tasty. I was asked if I wanted heated up and I declined. I sat in the car and ate it. It was so crunchy and full of beef filling. Good flavor. I am glad i don't live nearby. I would be broke. Lovely gentleman helping me. I warned him I was not ready. They had salads in the front refrigerator. I'm going to fast from baked goods for a month. I think I can last about a week.
The focaccia here was so good! I tried their mushroom, which had a good balanced mix of cheese and chopped mushrooms, though offering a side of tomato sauce for dipping would make it even better. The pear and blackberry dessert focaccia was a good combo, though personally I found the Nutella and sweetness a bit generous - but those who enjoy sweeter treats will certainly appreciate it. The bread itself had my ideal focaccia texture since I like high hydration bread - moist with a fluffy interior and crispy exterior. While the prices might seem high at first glance, the portions are very filling and worth the cost. One order of the focaccia was more than enough to fill me up, but I couldn't get a entre focaccia without also getting a dessert one. The service was friendly and attentive. I'm already planning to return!
GK Pastry is a nice bakery that recently opened up ~7 months ago. The customer service from Asmos (forgive my spelling) was excellent. He was friendly and polite and offered me a free sampling before I bought anything. Apparently, they offer free samples of all their products. So cool! I tried the Pistachio Jar Cake and the Tiramisu Jar. Both were very good! I bought the Tiramisu for my wife. Next time, I will try the Blueberry Amaretti cookies. Very modern, clean, and simple decor. read more

Came into this neighborhood shopping center off Miramonte and Cuesta. As a kid, I recall this shopping center which is close to St. Francis High school. I went to school in the neighborhood. Anyways I enjoy finding hidden gems especially within neighborhoods. This shop was fully stocked, organized with clear signs or labels, with many many sweet treats from around the world, imho. The kind gentleman behind the counter was very helpful in terms of showcasing items on the back wall to the ones on trays behind the glass. Friendly and excellent people skills (sorry I didn't catch his name) . He offered and I sampled 2 honeys from Hawaii (see picture for names and prices). Other items I saw 10 piece Dubai bar for $25 aka "Can't Get Knafeh of It" or Knafeh croissant with an array of flavors buns focaccias with different savory flavors shortbread cookies amaretti cookies baklava Sourdough breadsticks nut and/or fruit chocolate bars Samosas or a variation of stuffed pastry pockets I think, but not 100%, they make sandwiches too. i gave 4 stars bc the "bun" was very dry and crumbly. They also serve coffees. On website, I see crepe cakes (which I think I didn't see in shop) and jar cakes too. I just bought 2 items. It was a nice presentation that my items went inside gift tote (that can be repurposed bc it was without print or images. ill be back soon to try other products, especially a slice or two of crepe cake :) read more
This place is tucked away on one side of a plaza and has so many gourmet pastry options. The pistachio croissant was amazing and the drizzle on top is what dreams are made of. Lovely place to stop by during a cafe ride for cyclists because there's a lot of shade, a chair or two, places to leave your bike. They also have Ulmo honey and Ulmo honey jar cake. Which is honestly just kinda cool and random as I haven't been able to see much of Ulmo honey outside of specialist honey places online. read more

I stopped by for the first time on Monday after lunch. I love the presentation of all their pastry items. There were so many items to choose from. Everything was organized and neat. Customer service was also great. I decided on the sourdough breadsticks, apricot and raisin oatmeal cookies and the pistachio amaretti cookies. Everything was delicious and freshly made with quality ingredients. It will definitely be back to try some of the other offerings. read more

Some of the best pastries I have ever had. I went for the first time today and tried the monkey bread, chocolate croissant, almond, and chocolate-walnut sweet bun. All of them were exceptional! I believe their chocolate croissant is a top seller as the guy in front of me ordered three and the lady behind me got one. What a gem! read more

Blueberry & Chocolate Focaccia ($11): This delicious sweet focaccia is life changing! It is not too sweet and the blueberry and chocolate combination is chefs kiss! There is also cream cheese which makes this focaccia even better. I do wish there was an option to warm it up, that would of made it 5 stars. Regardless, it's a must try! 9.5/10 read more
Located in the corner of a shopping plaza, it's super easy to find parking! Absolutely adorable storefront and the friendliest most helpful staff and family who are clearly passionate about their baking! They source organic handpicked components and bake their goods fresh each day, so a bit more pricey but definitely worth it. Stopped by at 7:45 AM (opens at 7:30) and there were already people before me! The store smelled like freshly baked bread and the owner was happy to give out samples of Napoleon Cake and offer suggestions of what to get! All of the focaccias were fresh out of the oven and being cut as we spoke. I ended up getting one of each of the pastries out in the front and they're all delicious in their own way but ALL OF THEM were flakey and airy in the best way possible. The focaccia was absolutely delicious and I could easily finish one whole slice by myself! (Could probably serve two people with the serving size!) Will definitely be back to try their jar cakes as well 1000%! read more

Let me start with how generous is this bakery with their samples. And, once you try the samples you realize that you can't just have one thing, as everything tastes so fresh, light & yum and not overly sweet. We ordered cafe latte,, Dubai chocolate croissant and mushroom focaccia bread. And, all of them were delicious. Can't wait to go there again. Need to mention the warm, patient and kind gentleman behind the counter as he was very nice in explaining everything and making sure that he helps us get something that we will enjoy. read more

Stopped by this cute little shop on my way to work and they had some of the most cute and unique pastries I've ever seen! The employee was kind enough to let us sample some of the cake jars, which we're all light, fluffy, and delicious. We came around lunch time and most items were sold out (which goes to show how many people love the desserts here) but we were able to snatch the last pistachio nepoleon cake. It was my first time trying it! It tasted like a crushed up croissant with layers of pistachio cream in between. It was large enough for two people and not too expensive, although in the double digits. Would highly recommend this spot to anyone! read more

The service here is great the guy at the cpunt didn't quiet catch his name but is an extremely nice dude. He gave us recommendations on our selection and we ended up getting a couple of freshly baked sourdough bread which is some really really good the crust was amazing and tenderness of the bread was amazing. I didn't really dig the dubai chocolate bar it wasn't what I was expecting but good nevertheless. The shop was clean and had samples so that was a plus. Definitely a good place to check out if your on your way up the beach for a picnic. read more

Hours of operation: Mon-Fri 9-7pm Sat/Sun 9-4pm 4.5 stars for my first visit to GK Pastry, but rounding up to 5 for the wonderful customer service (I believe from their owners). Come support a new local business! They are located within a larger plaza with a Safeway, but are in their own small section with a couple of other stores. I stopped by around 2:30pm on a Saturday, and they weren't busy at the time; however, they were already sold out of their white chocolate chip cookies and were on their way to selling out of their sourdough. They have samples available for ALL of their products, and they were so sweet about having you try items before you purchased them. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but their ingredients seemed high quality. I tried: -Pistachio Jar Cake (8oz/$10, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=8UdUnbaMccskxk5ZwSR1QA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Yum- I loved the pistachio flavor throughout the cake components, and the cake was very moist. I thought the cream was also really good, although it got a touch sweet as I was eating. I would still get this flavor again, though. I hope they consider offering sliced cake instead, so that customers don't have to pay an additional surcharge for the cake jar (plus it seems like such a waste if I recycle it versus keeping the jar and having it take up more space). -Blueberry Amaretti Cookies (4/$10, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=mrcTd4lVE5LRvcotUlb6Vw&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Yum- their amaretti cookies are chewy in the middle with a slightly crisp on the exterior, which is what I look for in my cookies! The blueberry flavor was fresh and delicious, and I also really liked their pistachio flavor- recommended! I also tried a couple of their sourdough bread flavors, and all were delicious (especially their jalapeno cheese). The crust had a great crunch to it, and the interior was soft and chewy. If I didn't just purchase bread earlier that day, I would have definitely purchased their sourdough. They also give away their day old bread for free (there is a separate case for day old bread by the door, but they were already out by the time I got there). I will be back to try more of their amaretti cookie flavors, as well as their sourdough and cakes. I did not see any seating available indoors or outdoors. Parking was easy to find in this complex. read more

New mom and pop pastry store in Mountain View that you should definitely check out! We went around 9:30 am and the only options were the jar cakes and cookies. The chocolate moose jar cake was amazing! The chocolate chip was ok, I would try warming it up next time. They give away their day old bread so we took half a loaf of sourdough. The bread was by far my favorite thing that we tried. I can't wait to go back and try some of their fresh pastries. I would recommend going around 10:30 am to have more options like croissants. The host is extremely nice and provided free samples. They are still working on decorating the interior but it looks great so far. I love supporting small local businesses and I can't wait to follow their progress! read more

Usually 5 stars through and through however, yesterday I went in for some bread and the oven I guess is baking uneven so they switched the way they shape the loafs? Not bad bread at all, still tastes amazing but a little dissatisfied with the shape and construction of the new style of loaf. Probably only a few good large slices on this shape. read more

Super nice family run. Chef in back continuously making magic so things come out fresh all day. Kids (twins?) split their time manning the front and building out new store downtown Los Altos. Can't wait for that!
