Located in the corner of a shopping plaza, it's super easy to find parking! Absolutely adorable storefront and the friendliest most helpful staff and family who are clearly passionate about their baking! They source organic handpicked components and bake their goods fresh each day, so a bit more pricey but definitely worth it. Stopped by at 7:45 AM (opens at 7:30) and there were already people before me! The store smelled like freshly baked bread and the owner was happy to give out samples of Napoleon Cake and offer suggestions of what to get! All of the focaccias were fresh out of the oven and being cut as we spoke. I ended up getting one of each of the pastries out in the front and they're all delicious in their own way but ALL OF THEM were flakey and airy in the best way possible. The focaccia was absolutely delicious and I could easily finish one whole slice by myself! (Could probably serve two people with the serving size!) Stopped by this cute little shop on my way to work and they had some of the most cute and unique pastries I've ever seen! The employee was kind enough to let us sample some of the cake jars, which we're all light, fluffy, and delicious. We came around lunch time and most items were sold out (which goes to show how many people love the desserts here) but we were able to snatch the last pistachio nepoleon cake. It was my first time trying it! It tasted like a crushed up croissant with layers of pistachio cream in between. It was large enough for two people and not too expensive, although in the double digits. Would highly recommend this spot to anyone! read more

Little bakery tucked away in a Safeway anchored plaza, this bakery met but didnt exceed any expectation, particularly at the typical high prices of this area. I liked everything I tried, to include the Sundried Tomato Sourdough, the Napoleon, the pistachio croissant, the Dubai chocolate, the margherita pizza and a savory stuffed pastry full of potato and spinach. That said, when prices are elevated ($10 for 1 slice of pizza, $12 for small loaf of sourdough, $25 for Dubai chocolate bar, etc) so are my expectations. The pistachio croissant had no pistachio cream or butter on the inside, which was disappointing. In fact, were it not for the very light pistacchio frosting drizze, I' wouldnt even know it was an ingredient in there. The standout for me was the Napoleon. Its a finicky pastry that needs to be eaten almost immediately so that you can bite through the crust while its still very crisp. The Napoleon here could use a bit more cream but, the freshness and taste was truly excellent. All in all, no complaints. Theres a genuinely talented bake team here! But, in a region with endless great bakeries, I will continue my search to find the best bang for my bakery buck! read more

After hearing that some of my compatriots had opened a pastry shop in Mountain View, we decided to check it out. We'd heard great things about the food quality and the outstanding customer service and it did not disappoint. We originally came for our favorite Central Asian dish, samsa, a layered dough savory pastry filled with meat (check it out!) , but ended up walking out with a box full of sweets after sampling nearly everything, thanks to the super friendly guy behind the counter. I come here once a week after work for a warm slice of focaccia to eat on my way home. It's become such a guilty pleasure of mine. The bread is always so consistent. I haven't tried any of the sweet ones but every savory one I've had is so delicious. My face is the goat cheese/asparagus! Staff is always friendly and welcoming. We tried the pesto focaccia and a pastry. Both items were well made. The focaccia is filling and could serve as a meal. Unfortunately, it was a bit soggy in some parts, which gave it a mushy consistency. I would suggest maybe getting a difference focaccia without as much sauce. Otherwise, the bread was fluffy and if they had a plain focaccia, I'm sure it would be delicious. The pastry was flaky and sweet. However, it was $20+ just for these items, which is pricey compared to other bakeries. It's worth a try at least once. read more

This family run bakery is such a fun place to visit but I don't recommend doing so right before dinner. We were offered so many different samples of all their delicious goodies that we had to leave before we bought everything they had on offer. He gave us recommendations on our selection and we ended up getting a couple of freshly baked sourdough bread which is some really really good the crust was amazing and tenderness of the bread was amazing. The croissant was moist which is hard to find, and had enough chocolate! And the cream puff was the perfect mix of sweet and tangy from the passion fruit. Hours of operation: Mon-Fri 9-7pm Sat/Sun 9-4pm 4.5 stars for my first visit to GK Pastry, but rounding up to 5 for the wonderful customer service (I believe from their owners). Come support a new local business! They are located within a larger plaza with a Safeway, but are in their own small section with a couple of other stores. I stopped by around 2:30pm on a Saturday, and they weren't busy at the time; however, they were already sold out of their white chocolate chip cookies and were on their way to selling out of their sourdough. They have samples available for ALL of their products, and they were so sweet about having you try items before you purchased them. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but their ingredients seemed high quality. I tried: -Pistachio Jar Cake (8oz/$10, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=8UdUnbaMccskxk5ZwSR1QA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Yum- I loved the pistachio flavor throughout the cake components, and the cake was very moist. They also give away their day old bread for free (there is a separate case for day old bread by the door, but they were already out by the time I got there). He was very friendly, encouraging us to try everything they have, and I mean everything. We tried all the flavors of cake in the jar and several other baked goods. Called in to order, ordering and pick up was a breeze. No hassle. Its also nice that they open early. We were there around 9am and most pastries are already out. The ambiance is simple, clean, yet very modern and aesthetically pleasing, mostly focus on the presentation of the food. No unnecessary decorations that built into the price of the pastry. I got half a slab of pesto mozzarella focaccia and everyone at the party loved it. It was gone after minutes. Its crispy from the outside, just doughy enough yet light from the inside. The jar cakes are beautiful and the owner was very kind to let me taste literally all 7 or 8 flavors so I could make an informed purchase. Got some for gifts. They were all really good and several of them are gluten free (but it doesn't taste like anything is lacking). I got the Ruby Chocolate, Tiramisu, Chocolate Mousse, and Pistachio as last minute holiday gifts. They also have a nice selection of cookies and other baked goods. Just opened 2 days ago! Oh my god I love this new bakery. My friend and I walked in and were immediately welcomed. Everyone was very smiley and friendly. This family-owned bakery serves jar cakes, which I've never seen anywhere else. The store was very clean and well lit, and I love the granite flooring they have. Everything looks super modern and new. While my friend and I were deciding, the lady working the counter offered us samples! The samples were much appreciated as originally I was going to get the chocolate mousse jar cake, but after trying everything I got the mixed berry. The woman was so sweet and kept offering us more samples . I was pleasantly surprised by the pistachio flavor! I think if I was craving something creamier I would've gotten it. I also got a chocolate chip cookie, which was an interesting version of the standard chocolate chip cookie I've had elsewhere, but totally good still! As a home sourdough baker for 5 years, I think their sourdough bread is wonderful. Now a days people throw the sourdough name into many breads, and some so called sourdoughs, including some shops that includes it in its name, are not really sourdough bread, but rather plain white sandwich breads. GK Pastry's sourdough bread is legit, very well made, proper sourdough, tastes great. If there are anything less than perfect, I asked to buy some sourdough starters but they are not selling it to me. :-( But again, their bread is wonderful. read more
