He took his time to help me understand the process of getting my hand fitted, which I've never had before since it's usually just get fitted and be done. After I got my ball drilled he even took his time and gave me a mini bowling lesson! It was much appreciated because he helped me understand the technique of it all. So a women walks into a pro shop and asks... why is my thumb nail ripping off? And boy did Gip know why. If you're having trouble with your grip... ball... technique just go see Gip he's absolutely amazing and knowledgeable. Last Xmas I recieved a new ball in AZ from my brother... my first ball EVER. He takes me and my family to get fitted and have the ball drilled. Took the guy maybe 5 minutes to size my hand and right away I knew it was wrong...I told him I couldnt grip the ball... and my wrist hurt. He dismissed me and told me it was just me not knowing howbto handle the ball and that was it. Fast forward to this last Saturday...at Chapparel 300 in chino hills... ive been playing with this ball... adjusting my grip, cadence everything to use it... but no matter what I did... my hand hurt. And for the I don't know how many time... my thumb nail ripped off again while bowling. Finally after complaining to my husband again... he decided to go to the pro shop and see if someone could help me. That's when we met GIP!!! He is soooooo amazing! My husband told him about my problem and I showed him my hand and thumb. Right away he told me what was wrong with my ball. He measured everything ... checked all the angles and found out that the ball was not even drilled to match my hand. He explained grip to me... what it should fill like... and realized why I was ripping off my thumbnail. He let me know he could refill the ball and redrill it by the following Wednesday. So Wednesday comes around ( yesterday) and we go to pick up my ball and get it redrilled to my hand... ill tell you that this was definitely not a 5 minute process. Gip was soooo meticulous in the way he shaped the ball to my hand and fingers. He explained everything and showed me what he was doing. Then as he was fitting me he realized a very bad habit I had developed and immediately became concerned for me. Because my ball was so poorly drilled before and I couldn't grip my ball I had developed a bad habit of gripping and holding the ball with my thumb... hence the ripping of my thumbnail. Gip identified the problem right away. Any other person could have taken my money and sent me on my way. But not Gip! He spent a good 30 minutes with me teaching me technique and having me practice my release to ensure I wasn't hurting myself. Right there in his shop. This man has sooo much knowledge and is an amazing teacher as well. I can't say enough good things about him. I'll definitely be going back to him and will be taking my brother to see HIM from now on. I might even look into lessons with Gip too. Just an incredibly great person!!! I got a Global Reality Ball from a Bowlero league in Norco. I heard from multiple people that the Norco Bowling shop was terrible and the person in charge was difficult to work with. I also heard that he drills 3 holes no matter what. I'm a two finger bowler so that wouldn't work for me. After a day of research I came across Gip's bowling pro shop, and saw great reviews. I showed up without an appointment and luckily he was able to help right away. I had my 5 year old son with me and Gip asked if he could get my son some candy. I said yes, and he opened his register got some of his own money. Went over to the Candy Machine and let my son choose what he wanted. What a first impression! He then looked at my ball and asked how I roll the ball. I rolled it a couple times in the shop and he was able to get a feel for how I bowl. He also looked at my old Venom Shock ball which was wildly inconsistent and he noticed that it was drilled at an odd angle. Which explained why it's been so inconsistent. I plan on getting this one redrilled soon. He then got hand measurements for the new ball and picked some inserts. He prepped the ball and drilled it on the spot. You can tell he's been doing this for a long time. After it was drilled he let me roll a couple times in his shop and give me some pointers on my release. I bowled 2 games right after and hit 30 above my average on both games. My league play has improved as well. Overall this was a great experience and I will always use Gip for any of my bowling needs. If you're a bowler in the IE area, I'd highly recommend seeing Gip for your bowling needs as well. read more

It's been about 8 years since I had my last bowling ball drilled, and from what I remember my hand was measured maybe once, the PSO doing the drilling really didn't seem to care about my, or the ball's, performance. Gip is absolutely the polar opposite of that. You can tell straight away that this man lives and loves the game of bowling, and he's got the knowledge and the plaques to prove it. He took the time to find out what my game is like, and how I like to bowl. He measured and remeasured my hand to fit the ball perfectly to me. He even showed me how much a very small change in finger position affects how cleanly my thumb will release and made absolutely sure to get those finger positions right. There was a younger guy in the shop when I arrived and I got to watch Gip not only drill this ball to increase the young gentleman's performance, but he also helped him fix a couple of issues he has with his release right there in the shop! You can really tell how much he cares for his craft. If you're getting your first ball or your 100th ball, take it to Gip. Thank you Gip! Never really liked my bowling ball but assumed it was right because it was fitted to me by a different pro shop. After years of using it I talked to Gip about it and he instantly noticed it was drilled incorrectly. He did an amazing job filling and re-drilling my ball to have the right grip. He knows what he is doing that's for sure. Wasn't a huge difference in finger hole location but it was a major change in how it feels in my hand. Recently went in and got the Phase 2, Gip did a really great job fitting me and informing me on what he was doing especially with comparison to my current ball. He also gave me some pointers on my walk up and release in his shop and on the lane. Getting a ball from him also gets you 2 games at the alley and he offered to stand there with me as I threw to see what I was doing which was really helpful and I definitely felt a difference from what he had me do. I've gone through a few pro shops since I started bowling and Gip is definitely where I'll be getting my balls drilled from now on. Today I got my new Storm AstroPhysix professionally drilled by former PBA Professional Gip Lentine! When it comes to knowledge of the bowling scene, Gip is no stranger. Gip does an excellent job when drilling the ball. He will ask what kind of set up you are looking for, how you throw the ball & then drills the ball to how you want the ball to react on the lane. He is very precise when measuring the span of your hand in order for the ball to fit perfectly. After the ball is drilled, Gip will have you throw it to see how it fits and offer some tips. I recently had a ball I brought in for a drilling. Gip, took a thorough approach to fitting the ball properly as he had in the past with me. After it was done, he had me release the ball to him in the shop and helped me correct a habit I had formed(that wasn't completely gone when I had left and that's on me). The time he took and the explanation of what the ball should feel like in hand was a moment for me I needed all over again. I have bought balls from him in the past and had some others in between. This experience and going back to him has already started to make a difference in my scores. He is knowledgeable and provides excellent customer service. Get your bowling balls drilled by Gip! He has over 35 years of bowling/pro shop experience, and he's able to tap into his extensive knowledge to provide the proper fit and layout for your game. He asked a couple of my personal bowling preferences and analyzed the oil tracks/fitment on an old ball that I brought in. From that, he determined my span and angles were shorter than they should have been, causing the ball's weight to be imbalanced in my hand. He made the appropriate drilling adjustments in my new ball, and he ensured my thumb release was clean with a couple of test rolls.
