So far, the boots have held up quite nicely even when walking into some deep puddles. They've kept my feet dry which is pretty awesome. The premise itself feels dated even though it's not run down. Merchandise also feels densely packed, but then again, it's probably always been like this ever since I was a kid. Come in. Get what you need. And leave with low expectations.

The coupon literally linked back to Dick's Sporting Goods' website. When we asked if a manager could review it, we were told the manager wouldn't honor it either. After spending time shopping and filling our cart, we left feeling dismissed and frustrated. I told her I purchased the tent a week ago and I was able to find some time to set it up when I noticed it was damaged. She then rudely told me that their equipment should be new and it's not possible for it to be damaged. I argued with her and told her that I thought it was brand new but i guess it wasn't. It was in it's original packaging.. Finally, she accepted it as an exchange and told me to grab another one. She said if it happens again, I'm going to have to take it up with the manufacturer... Really?? It's not my fault it was broken.. I then grabbed a "new" one and she asked if I'd like to check it before checking out. I said okay, I checked over the sticks and it looks fine. I told her what about the tent, what if there is a hole. She told me I can open it up in the store but there was no room to do that.. so I told her that I'll just set it up today at home and if it's not good I'll bring it back. She then proceeded to do the exchange then told me it was going to be $17.99.. wait.. I'm exchanging.. why do I need to pay. She said initially it was purchased with a coupon.. I said okay... So use the same coupon.. she then said she didn't have a coupon, so she made me look for the same coupon.. I found one on their website and luckily it worked and covered the $17.99.. I found a coupon for here on retail me not for $10 off $60. That was enough for me to go and look for what they had. I did find suspender snow pants and boots for my 5 year old daughter. With the coupon the pants came to $24.99, not the best but not bad! Didn't see any boots for my 2 year old baby though unfortunately. I certainly do think they could have greeted me when I walked in, manager looked right past me. Also 2 cashiers were working and no one was paying attention as I waited in line. Came in last Saturday morning and met George who worked there and asked if he could help me. George was so enthusiastic that we were buying knives and helped us select one that was right for us and we needed his help because we've never bought a pocket knife before. We were buying knives because we took a 4 hour survival skills class in Pasadena the weekend before and were told everyone needs to have a good knife on them. One of my superintendents at work told me to get a knife from military surplus with a compass on the top and that comes with a stone for sharpening the knife. Unfortunately they didn't carry the compass knife but I was able to get a good one for under $30. I have to mention that we learned more from George in 20 minutes than we did in 4 hours at the survival skills class. He's very knowledgeable about knives, outdoor survival and camping gear. Honestly, we were 3 ladies and it's intimidating just walking into a military surplus store, but George made us feel really comfortable and he was really fun to talk to/learn from about knives and survival skills. He let us know we have to get really comfortable with using our knife like it's an extra limb that way we don't freeze up in case of emergency. We told him he needs to teach a class on this and have his own line of knives. I ended up getting a Marine brand knife, a sharpening stone and a whistle with a compass and a flint on it and it was worth it.
