I came here to exchange a tent that I purchased a week ago. I was finally able to set it up and the strings were all damaged. I told the lady at the register and she looked at me like I did it. She then proceeded to open the box and sure enough, the strings were damaged. I told her I purchased the tent a week ago and I was able to find some time to set it up when I noticed it was damaged. She then rudely told me that their equipment should be new and it's not possible for it to be damaged. I argued with her and told her that I thought it was brand new but i guess it wasn't. It was in it's original packaging.. Finally, she accepted it as an exchange and told me to grab another one. She said if it happens again, I'm going to have to take it up with the manufacturer... Really?? It's not my fault it was broken.. I then grabbed a "new" one and she asked if I'd like to check it before checking out. I said okay, I checked over the sticks and it looks fine. I told her what about the tent, what if there is a hole. She told me I can open it up in the store but there was no room to do that.. so I told her that I'll just set it up today at home and if it's not good I'll bring it back. She then proceeded to do the exchange then told me it was going to be $17.99.. wait.. I'm exchanging.. why do I need to pay. She said initially it was purchased with a coupon.. I said okay... So use the same coupon.. she then said she didn't have a coupon, so she made me look for the same coupon.. I found one on their website and luckily it worked and covered the $17.99.. I got out of there and was pretty upset. What was supposed to be an easy exchange turned into an argument and her accusing me of damaging their product... Not coming back to this store.. read more

This Big 5 is in the "central court" shopping center on central and Philadelphia. I needed some warm weather clothes for my daughters for our upcoming trip to the local mountains. I found a coupon for here on retail me not for $10 off $60. That was enough for me to go and look for what they had. I did find suspender snow pants and boots for my 5 year old daughter. With the coupon the pants came to $24.99, not the best but not bad! Didn't see any boots for my 2 year old baby though unfortunately. I certainly do think they could have greeted me when I walked in, manager looked right past me. Also 2 cashiers were working and no one was paying attention as I waited in line. Had to just walk up myself. Not greeted at all he just began scanning. The coworkers were talking amongst themselves about the schedule or what they're going to do this weekend or something? I just left this location, was sent by another Big 5 because they said this location had the item in stock. When I got here a young man helped me find the item which was a ping pong paddle, he was very nice but upon inspection at the purchase counter I notice the paddle was open and completely missing the inserts that would hold the paddle in, I politely informed the sales associate that and if they had another one in the package new, she said they didn't and started to ring me up, I said I wasn't going to purchase it that the item was a return item. They employees started to gang up and argue with me that they don't return and place items back on the sale floor and I responded why does it have ball markings that say otherwise, she inspects and notices the marks. A moment goes by and she says we won't be able to give out a discount... I never asked for any discount. I responded I never asked for one and just walked out. Employees that I give negative feedback as they didn't have their name tag warn. White female blonde hair wearing all pink, w/pink gater mask. I don't know why but coming in here throws me off. The shape of the store is different from others that I have been to and so their organization is something that I could't get used to. They were having sales as usual but there wasn't anything that I could find in the sizes that I needed them in. Hmm, oh well! I wasn't greeted by anyone who made eye contact with me. They nay as well have had robots in the front of the store. The cashier who "greeted" me was doing something else but when they heard the door open they automatically said, "Hi, welcome." and that was it. Hmm, OK. There didn't appear to be anyone on the floor who was offering any kind of help, suggestions, fitting rooms or knowledge about what sales were going on. My wife was looking for snow pants for our snow day. She found her size and on sale, you can't beat that. Staff was friendly and very helpful. They rang us up and we were on our way. This Big 5 is a bit difficult to find because it is hidden behind a gas station. Drive around in the shopping center, find the Chuck E Cheese and you will find the Big 5 right next to it. read more

Even goes by asking me if I called the right store....After I read off her phone number, still clueless she's says we've been out for weeks and I was given the wrong info. For a retail store the size of Starbucks ensure your employees know what they are talking about. Not the prettiest Big 5 in the area. Sign up for their email list. The emailed coupons will save you $$. Big is like the 7-11 of sporting goods stores. If you know what you want and you are not particular about the name brand, you can quickly find what you need for most sports. Bass Pro shop and REI will have specific gear for the enthusiast. This location is always fighting clutter. Like most stores in the area, It's the local shoppers that like to drop stuff on the floor when they lose interest. After a few bad experiences at Turners (Chino Hills) and Bass Pro (Rancho Cucamonga), I stopped by Big 5 in Chino Hills. After dealing with two other stores that didn't seem interested in my business, Big 5 was a dream come true! Honestly, I loved the place! Only one guy at the gun counter, so I milled around the camping supply area and had a blast! I know that sounds dumb, but it was fun! Once it was my turn at the gun counter I found the clerk nice pleasant and helpful. The only problem was that they were out of stock on the shotgun I had wanted. There was a sale on the particular shotgun I was interested in. The clerk got on the phone and located one at their Moreno Valley store. So why not take a drive! The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because of their limited gun selection. read more

Came to Big 5 on Sunday night hoping to buy some running shoes for the gym. Went to check out, to pay with Apple Pay, the lady said it worked, but none of the registers were taking the debit. She told my friend and I she would hold the shoes, but did not mention they were closing soon. Came back to them saying come back tomorrow, not even a sorry. Best Big 5 in the Inland Empire hands down. I've been a customer at this location for just over 10 years. The customer service is exceptional which is becoming so rare in the retail market. I went there today (5/20/17) to purchase 2 pairs of running shoes, but wound up purchasing 5 pairs instead because the price and quality was impossible for me to walk away from. This was my husband's and my first trip to a Big 5 Sporting Goods. We are new gun owners and we just happened to pass by and wanted to see if they had ammo and find out the process to buy it. The manager on duty Richard was the best on giving us all the info we needed. While asking more questions he got a call to the register and then had to deal with a customer from hell. I have never seen any one person act so immature and rude. Even while Richard was trying the find the right item for this rude lady he still continued to give us more information on ammo and provide us with great customer service. After he found the correct item with the correct pricing he gave them to the cashier for the customer to decide which one she wanted to purchase. Well she wasn't having it. She demanded that she get the sale price for the non sale item and told him that she was going to call corporate on him and that she will never shop there again. Even while this wack job was going off he was very polite and professional. My hats off to Richard. My husband and I will be back just because of his great customer service. read more
