This store is awesome. They should all be like this one. We came here because my grandson's cleats were available here. Not all Dick's have the same products. He got exactly what he wanted, with great help from the staff. We walked into the store, we were asked what we were looking for. First was skateboard protective gear. I heard the salesgirl tell someone we were on our way. We were greeted by a nice man, who helped us with sizing and stayed with us until we were satisfied. He asked, "Any other shopping today". When we mentioned cleats, he said he would let them know we were on our way. When we got to shoes, they were busy, so we were not greeted. But we were helped in a timely manner. Came around 11:00am on a Monday looking for shoes for work (wasn't busy at all, the workers were just talking to each other). I asked for a shoe size and the girl who worked there told me "okay hold on" went to the back and basically hid back there for a bit to obviously not help me? Not sure why when I wasn't asking for much at all. Never came back to assist me, luckily another worker noticed me and helped me. Kind of shocked by having to push a young white male (I'm a senior white female) to take two pairs of binoculars out of their boxes so I could compare them. Should be standard procedure right? Maybe he was stoned but the level of confusion was intense, and once I made my decision he started down a rabbit hole about how weird whale skeletons and hippo skulls look without skin. On 1/28/26 my husband called and talked to the manager at the Chino Dicks. Someone had gotten a hold of my debit card and personal info and made a very large purchase for pick up. My husband told the manager that this was fraudulent and to not let whoever this person was to pick up the order. The manager acknowledged this but still let this criminal come into the store and pick up this order! I will find out who the manager was at the Chino Dicks on 1/28/26 at 5:15 pm which is when the order was picked up. I will be taking this case to court. Dick's Sporting Goods--where customer service goes to die. If you've read the sea of negative reviews and thought, Surely it can't be that bad?--oh, but it can. Consider this your warning. I called earlier today to get my son's new catcher's mitt steamed. They told me they couldn't do it until after 2 PM. Fine. I called again at 6:53 PM (because, silly me, I like to confirm things before driving a long way). The employee assured me--no problem, bring it in. They close at 9 PM. Fast-forward to 7:50 PM: We walk in, mitt in hand, and surprise! They suddenly can't do it. Why? Because it's apparently too close to closing time. You know, a full hour and ten minutes before closing. Mind you, steaming a glove takes all of 30 minutes. The guy who does it was there--but the manager, in all their infinite wisdom, wouldn't allow him to do it. When I politely (okay, at this point, less politely) pointed out that I had called in advance and been told otherwise, the manager--who must have taken a masterclass in poor leadership--shrugged, offered no solution. They clearly took "managing" to mean "standing around making sure nothing helpful happens." Pro tip, Dick's: If you have a cutoff time, maybe train your employees to mention it on the phone instead of wasting people's time. Just a thought. Never in my life have I encountered someone as rude as Jenn, the store manager at the Dick's Sporting Goods location in Chino, CA. During my recent visit for curbside pickup, she insisted on charging 10 cents per bag, even though every other employee I've dealt with had been kind enough to provide them without issue. I was not aware of any change in store policy regarding this charge. I've spent a significant amount on pickup orders this week alone, and instead of handling the situation courteously, Jenn rudely stated, "We cannot give you free bags every time you come here." Really? A simple, polite explanation about the change in policy would have sufficed, and as a loyal customer, I would have understood and ensured to pay for bags next time. Instead, she chose to be condescending and dismissive. To make matters worse, Jenn proceeded to speak to me in an even more patronizing tone, saying, "I have been very patient with you." Her attitude was not only unprofessional but also entirely uncalled for. It's ridiculous that Dick's Sporting Goods would employ someone with such poor customer service skills in a managerial position. I was confused by the sign that I thought said all tentative 25% off. When I got the the cashier I asked about it. After several calls an employee finally grudgingly went to check on the sign. Eventually he let us know that the sale was only on one brand of tent. I said ok and went back to change for the tent that was on sale. On the way back I mentioned that the sign seems a little deceiving. The employee who was already annoyed that I had asked for clarification in the first place said "it's not deceiving at all" in a tone that made it clear that he though I was just being difficult. At that point I decided that I didn't need to buy either tent. I told the cashier that I was not going to buy any of the $250 worth of camping gear because of the way he spoke to me. She looked at me with a blank face and just took the product back. If even one person there had made me feel like they wanted me to be there I would have purchased all the gear. But they all looked like they hated bing there and that they wanted nothing more than to have me and every other customer go some place else and leave them alone... so I did I went next door to target and found the tent I wanted in the first place for $30 less than it was at Dicks. And the employees smiled and greeted me, helped me willingly and thanked me as I left. If just one person would treat me the way everyone on target treated me, I would go back and get the red sleeping bag that my son wants so bad. He even complimentary re-regripped clubs that weren't straight the first time around, which I genuinely appreciate. However, the best service I've received yet is adjusting the lie/loft of my entire iron set. After coming back from his lunch, he went straight ahead and finish adjusting them within the hour. I had not visited Dick's for a while because honestly this location had always been dark and dreary without any happy associates to help you. Fast forward to Dec 22. I walked in just to look for a pair of shoes and was met by Violet who was all about helping me find the perfect shoe. I did take a chunk of her time, but she was there to HELP. She was AWESOME and efficient. Loved her great vibe and warm smile. I walked away purchasing 4 pairs of fancy new shoes because Violet was so willing to help me. I picked up a few more items and made my way to the checkout where I was checked out by Daniel. Another super friendly associate who chatted me up but again was efficient and fast when processing my purchase. Bravo Daniel with "Great Hair". Thanks Dick's for these two fantastic hires!! I've been going to Dick's for many years and have been mostly satisfied every time . Last month I bought some water shoes on sale for Cancun vacation. Shoes fit well and looked good when I got them. Wore them once for a day at an Xcaret excursion and started to get blisters by midday. By the end of the day, had at least 7 different areas of blisters and could barely walk around. Went in today to see about an exchange or return. One of the manager, only gave me Isaac as his name, said he couldn't do anything because they have been worn. Well how the hell are you supposed to know if there are any issues without wearing them. I understand some may wear and return because they changed their mind. But this is a totally different issue. This product they sold is causing bodily harm, most likely due to poor design or something. A large corporation like Dick's cannot sell poor quality product and not take any responsibility. At the end of the day, these water shoes were only $20 on sale, but this is about customer service and corporate liability. Might turn into a small claims case for pain and suffering because it basically ruined the rest of my trip having to limp around from pain with every step caused by the damn blisters. read more

After several weeks of the COVID-19 crisis, with gyms closed down, equipment like a stationary bike is hard to come by, and sorely needed. Dick's normally carries a very well-reviewed model, the Schwinn 270. About the best around for the price from what I understand. But of course, all area locations were out of stock, with no idea when they might be able to get one. So I began asking the inevitable questions, "Can't I buy THAT one? Having one on display doesn't do any good if you can't get the product, right"? Our other two area locations unequivocally stated that they "can't" sell displays, period. But the manager here agreed that it's no use displaying a product that can't be obtained. She even gave us a sweet discount, since it was in fact a display, which may already have some wear. Even so, this is a solid product. After a wipe-down to ensure it's germ-free, it seems brand new. We can exercise again, thanks to a manager putting customers before bureaucracy. read more

I don't recommend going to Dick's Sporting Goods for their services. I Usually go here for their merchandise and never had a problem. Finally used their services for the first time - Tennis Stringing (restring, overgrip, grip replacement) Picked up racket on the date the told me it'll be done, with a reminder call, only to find a portion of the string completely broken. I haven't even stepped 5 feet out of the store so I went back. Spoke with the guy who gave me my racket and the manager. They agreed to redo the service for free. Second time I picked up my racket, one week later after no call from Dick's - I had to call myself. Strings we're fixed and the racket itself looked more dirty than how I dropped it off. Finally got to playing a round of tennis and became completely disappointed with the new grip. The entire grip on the handle was turning black as well as my hand. Sticky and hard to wash off. I decided not go back to Dick's because I don't trust their work. I found Racquet Edge in Walnut, right across from Mt. SAC. Very friendly, quick, and they did an excellent job. read more

Not sure why there's so many bad reviews about the customer service because I have always had a good experience there. I want to give a shoutout to the young man that works in the bike department. He is very chill, professional, and helpful. He was very helpful when I went in to get a bike for my kid a few months ago, and was helpful today 1/5/2024. I went in and purchased a bike rack. Pretty expensive. Upon opening it I noticed that many parts were missing. I called and explained the situation. They told me to bring it in. They was going to give me a refund, but I asked if I can just exchange it. The young man brought another over. We opened the box to inspect it, and that one was missing a few stuff as well. He brought another one and that one was great. Everyone was apologetic and helpful. read more

FIVE Stars for my neighborhood Dick's Sporting Goods. Here is why: I originally went in last week and I was assisted by Chantz on my search for a running shoe. At the time I was trying to narrow down my choices to Adidas & Asics, I didn't get anything that day but he was so patient with me, he even showed me a few different colors online. After going home and doing some research and recommendations from friends I had my mind set on Brooks Ghost 12 So fast forward to yesterday late afternoon I walked in and was quickly greeted by Anthony who brought out the Brooks in several sizes and I eventually purchased the size 10.50. My first pair of Brooks ever and they feel so comfortable compared to the Nike's I've had in the past. It's like night & day. So great customer service by Chantz and Anthony, Thanks for the patience and pointing me in the right direction. I was going to give four stars because of the young male cashier but perhaps he was having and off day, it happens, no big deal. As for the few WHINING reviewers here take the chip off your shoulders prior to walking in. I got a good chuckle out of the person who was crying about not getting 10% off a small purchase. I am writing to express my extreme displeasure and frustration with the experience I had at your store located in Chino, California. Specifically, I had a terrible encounter with one of your managers, Jennifer Gray. I feel compelled to share my experience with you in detail so that you can take appropriate action and prevent similar situations from occurring in the future. On April 5th, at approximately 7:45 PM, I spoke with one of your employees named Shawn. I explained to him that my mother wanted to return a stationary bike we had purchased from your store because the narrow seat was causing discomfort to the inside of her thigh. Shawn agreed to process the return and promised that he could use the stationary bike as a display item in the store. He also assured me that he would communicate our conversation to one of your store managers because he was going on vacation and would not be there on the day I would be returning the bike. I assumed it was Jennifer, who he would inform about my request and explain that it was okay for me to return the bike. The next day, on April 6th, I called the store and spoke to Jennifer Gray, notifying her that I would be returning the stationary bike based on the conversation I had with Shawn. However, she replied by stating that Dick's Sporting Goods store does not accept returns on used items and that she could not make any money off the return item. This was not in line with the conversation I had with Shawn, and I felt confused and frustrated by the inconsistency. I contacted customer service and spoke to a representative named Rob, who was excellent at handling the situation. He clarified Dick's Sporting Goods' return policy and informed Jennifer of it. Jennifer then gave me the okay to bring the bike down for a return if the bike was in saleable condition. After arriving at the store at 11:59 AM, Jennifer and her staff conducted an unnecessarily thorough inspection of the bike, as if they were searching for illicit items instead of a standard return. Even after finding no valid reasons to deny the return, Jennifer arbitrarily cited minor issues such as a tiny scratch where the adjustment of the seat is at and my use of the accompanying journey app to reject the return. I then called customer service again after Jennifer Gray had her employees put the stationary bike back on my truck and spoke to Karin, who was also excellent at her job. I expressed to her that Jennifer was ignoring the store policy and was making me take the bike back home after I drove so far to return it. I also explained that I did not want to injure myself taking the bike off my truck once I got home and that I did not want anything to happen to the stationary bike that would put it in non-refundable condition. Karin agreed and was very nice. She called Dick's Sporting Goods Chino location and spoke to Jennifer about the company's return policy. Karin assured me that she and her customer service team would process a return for the stationary bike, not Jennifer Gray, and that the bike would be left at the store. Throughout the entire ordeal, Jennifer's behavior such as misuse of power as a manager and her bullying me as a customer was unprofessional, dismissive, and unsympathetic to my situation. Her conduct contradicted your stated return policy and failed to uphold your company's core values of customer satisfaction, inclusivity, and community impact. As part of the military community, physical fitness and access to high-quality equipment are crucial to me and my colleagues. However, my experience at your store has left a lasting negative impact, and I feel compelled to share my experience with others to prevent similar mistreatment in the future. In conclusion, I urge you to take prompt action to address this matter and ensure that customers are treated with respect, fairness, and dignity in line with Dick's Sporting Goods' mission and values. No customer should have to endure the distress and frustration that my family and I experienced due to the mishandling of a simple return. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution. We have shopped this Dick's since it opened and usually have a good experience, but not on Jan 1, 2021. I purchased a pair of Uggs as a Christmas gift for my daughter. The shoes were too big, so she attempted to exchange them. She was told the shoes were completely out of stock and they did not know if or when they would be available. She requested a refund so she could purchase the shoes from another retailer. Yes, she had the original receipt, the shoes were unworn, and in the original packaging. She was refused a refund and offered a store gift card. I explained that the shoes were unavailable and that cash was preferred so she could purchase the shoes elsewhere. The request was again denied, and the explanation given was that it was a "Gift from Dick's".? Umm, no it wasn't!? I explained that a store credit was useless if the desired item was unavailable. Then to add insult to this poor customer service policy, she was given a coupon for $10.00 off a $50.00 purchase that was only good for 3hrs; the store was closing in 30mins. This store is so big and a blast to look around for all of the sporting goods and stuff. Their bicycle repair mechanic name Grayson is super knowledgeable and helpful, he answered all my questions and I applaud him for being such a great person. I ordered two shimano trevala fishing rods and two daiwa bg 8000 reels at the Dicks in Chino Hills CA and made sure the address, phone # and email were correct and received gift cards for the purchase, paid cash . I never received a confirmation or email. Upon contacting dicks online 2 days later it was never processed. I had to reorder the order online, and when it finally arrived (2 shipments) the reels were fine but both fishing rods were broken!,, Their packaging of the fishing rods was ridiculous,, I have bought several fishing rods from bass pro, cabelas and several individuals and never seen such miss care given to packaging of a fragile item,, What a shame....Anyhow the rods were returned and reordered again and should be received Friday, 7/17/20,,,PS the first rods came from LA Louisiana, and the new ones are coming from New York.
