I was able to go here today and I had 2 pairs of shoes on sale as usual to find. Usually when I shop here, I always find one but not the other just because they sell out quick on the sales. I showed up to get a Grey Combo pair of LA Gear Rambler Men's Running Shoes and black Denali Aletian men's outdoor shoes. Lo and behold... they had both! My prices were both on the online add as I paid $21.99 and $19.00 respectively for a total of $40.99 plus tax $3.18, grand total $44.17. Instead of $29.99 and $25.99, total $55.98 plus tax (almost $60 grand total). So I saved about $16!!! Thank you Big 5! I scored today!!! I came in there the other day to look for lanterns because my power was out . I was not greeted when i walked in there ..There was a guy at the counter and i had asked him where the lanterns were. I was trying to find a place to buy golf balls so I can put together a gift for Boss Day. My friend referred me to this place and even told me about there 20% off a regular priced item coupon that you can get it online to use it in store too. I found the Wilson Staff white golf balls and it was $13. I was on a tight budget since I have 3 bosses to put together gifts for. The coupon was able to work on the golf balls, which was amazing, and really helped a lot! The golf balls looked really nice in the jar that I put together. I end up coming back to buy more golf balls since I had to put together a gift for another boss' birthday that was coming up. The staff are friendly and helpful. read more

I used to really like coming to Big 5, but the last couple times have been nothing but a headache. Apparently the"management" takes 30 minute bathroom breaks and the remaining staff is not able to help when it comes to ammo. Do yourself a favor and go to bass pro if you want to get some ammo, at least they have a system of some sort. The absolute worse customer service not only within the store but the customer service reps, the store had made a mistake and double charged me, advised me it would "fall off" in a couple of days. Waited a whole week and called the store which they gave me an 800 number to call to get refunded. The store manager (Kristin) Who gave me this directive, showed no concern with the inconvenience of the situation. Same with the 1 800 representative. He couldn't care less. I was the only customer trying on shoes. You would think he would make himself available in case I needed another size or style. It was very frustrating. I was ready to pay for a pair of shoes, but this employee made it way too hard. If I had seen a manager I would have said something, but no manager. I had been in there the day before buying 2 air mattress that was on the one day sale. The girl was super nice and helpful. She explained the return policy. Just Incase there was a leak or if i returned unopened. So the next day i looked in the 1 day sale and there was a even better air mattress for $5 more. So i took them in and this lady at the front -koral. I explained that i was returning for better ones and she rolled her eyes and took a deep breathe and sighed. As if i was inconveniencing her. I held my tongue. Then she was getting my receipt and she looking for something. She tells me that she's getting a paper that explains the return policy. So recently I did some shopping at the Upland big 5 location on black Friday. I arrived early in the morning to pickup an inversion table which I might add was at a great price! The cashier was kind enough and I was assisted by a young man who also carried the table out to my car for me and was very polite throughout the entire process. It was a great start to my black Friday shopping. I returned later to see if there were any good deals as I had not really looked around the store earlier. I was looking around and asked an associate for assistance. He looked a little annoyed but it was understandable as I just thought he was overwhelmed with request. A few minutes went by and I began to wander the store only to realize he was helping another customer. I waited for him to return before asking him for help again and this time he had quite a look of disgust almost as if I was bothering him to help me. He pointed me in the direction of my item and walked away, not even asking if I had needed help with anything else.. Or at the very least apologizing for being rude. I believe the mans name was roben With that being said I just decided to leave as I didn't want to be any further trouble to your employees. I don't know if they changed staff from morning to afternoon which would make sense.. But the change in atmosphere was extremely noticeable. I had originally planned to give 5 stars for the experience I had in the early hours of Friday, but after my 2nd trip I decided against it. I will also not be returning to this store. It's funny most the reviews talk about such great customer service. I was looking at watches with the employee literally right in front of me doing busy work. I stood there awkwardly for a good couple minutes not once did I get a "hello" or "is there anything I can help you with" nothing just a cold shoulder. Very poor service. Staff was not knowledgeable about inventory. I purchased a pair of shoes that did not have a tag on them. Three different sales people were there, yet it still took an oddly long amount of time to find a price. I needed to purchase a 16 in 1 Serria mountain Hatchet hammer. At this Foothill location, Larry the store manager, did a great job of honoring a previous sales price. Furthermore his dedication to customer service went above and beyond job description. I recently broke my ankle in three places. Im due for surgery within the week. Larry, had no problem with walking to my car, taking my cash, and concluding the purchase. He saved me the excruciatingly hassle of limping in with crutches.
