Came here for a pair of Saucony running shoes. This place is usually my go to place for affordable Saucony. Best to check ads first to see what they have and if they are on sale. Was so happy to see a pair that's not all bright and flashy, on sale and when you sign up for their email list, got 10% off at checkout today! Been going through my exercise shoes quickly during this pandemic. This Big 5 appears well stocked.

This is a good store, it's just unfortunate it happens to be located in a bad neighborhood. Since the 1970's Big 5 has been my go to favorite sporting good store and I have spent countless $ at Big 5. Particularly the Pasadena location on Colorado Blvd. at Rosemead. Been here to the Pomona Big 5 several times and have purchased many things here as well (shoes, camping stuff, clothes, etc..). Quality customer service has always been lacking (understaffed), but they have a good selection of merchandise and Big 5 prices have always been reasonable. The neighborhood of this Pomona store is the biggest problem. Is a breeding ground for thugs, homeless, vagrants, derelicts, tweakers, hoodlums, beggars, troublemaker types hanging/loitering in this area. Actually... the entire stretch of Foothill between Garey Ave and Town Ave. is terrible and needs to be seriously cleaned up from all the riff raff. A dollar store directly next door to the Big 5 doesn't exactly improve the quality of the neighborhood either. Please patronize Big 5 but for personal safety, I suggest you only go here in the daytime and always be aware of your surroundings and also make sure you lock your car doors. My photos below:

This place has been here for a while don't know why it didn't show up on Yelp!

I had absolutely no clue as to what to expect and was pleasantly surprised to see the inside of this massive space that was maximized to the T with racks and walls stocked with merchandise. Extra wide shoes - np! Size 14, 13 & women's shoes - yes!! Nice selection. Golf shirts in brilliant colors and styles and up to a 2X - hole in one! Shorts for all in every style and color - Si! Plenty of comfortable seats and try on stations all over the floor- nice!!! No stress take your time shopping with everything spread out- indeed!! All these at fantastic prices!! ( receipt photo). My hats off to cashier Tracie who was so patient and kind. She opened a Dick's account for me and was absolutely thorough, professional and efficient. The folks in front of me had 2 carts full of shoes; I am guessing at least 36 pairs that they picked up. The great thing - there were 2 employees on the floor bringing out more shoes from the back and sticking. Loved it! It is always a beautiful thing to get 2 pairs of new kicks and a nice golf shirt for $55. Christmas cometh early for Ray Ray!!

We went to find some basketballs, unfortunately this store has no ball selection for any sports. Also was looking for some youth kings gear which I didn't find at all. Prices were still high, a typical Nike sports team shirt was still $30-$40. This store did have awesome selection of women's and men's shirts and shorts. Also an awesome shoe selection. Unfortunately I left and didn't buy anything.

On 01/04/2026, I attempted to contact the company through their website and received no response. After waiting several more days, I followed up via email and still heard nothing. At that point, it had been 21 days since placing the order with zero updates, and I had no way of knowing if or when my order would ship. Due to the lack of communication, I filed a chargeback through my bank. Only after the chargeback was filed did I finally receive a response. While the explanation involved shipping delays, the response that followed was unprofessional and hostile, blaming me for disputing the charge rather than acknowledging the lack of communication that led to it. The tone of that email was completely inappropriate for customer service. I understand delays happen, especially with small businesses, but leaving customers in the dark and then responding rudely when they protect themselves financially is unacceptable. Clear updates and professional communication would have prevented this situation entirely. Based on the lack of communication and the rude response I received, I would not recommend doing business with GTFOverland.

This review is directed at ownership and management…read more I frequent Turner's for fishing gear and have consistently had positive experiences with the older gentleman in that department. He's knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and genuinely helpful. He represents what a specialty retailer should be. I've spent 1000's on firearms and ammunition over the years. Unfortunately, this visit was the opposite. I came in looking for M&P Shield 9mm magazines. Only one in stock -- not a problem. I figured I'd grab some ammo while I was there. As I stood in front of the ammo section trying to read the boxes, two employees directly in front of me made zero effort to acknowledge me. Not a "Can I help you?" Not even eye contact. Instead, they were occupied repeatedly racking the slide on a pistol and discussing how it was "blemished." The way it was being handled made it feel less like product inspection and more like someone building a case for why it should be discounted. I can't say for certain that the larger employee was intentionally trying to create or exaggerate wear to justify purchasing it himself -- but if that wasn't the case, the optics were spectacularly poor. What really stood out was the conversation. They were openly speaking negatively about other customers -- people who sounded like regulars -- directly in front of me. It takes a certain level of tone-deaf confidence to mock customers while another one is standing three feet away. I finally asked if they might have additional magazines in the back. The larger employee ignored me initially. When he did respond, it was with, "Are you talking to me? I'm doing paperwork," as though customer interaction was an unreasonable interruption. This was moments after he demonstrated that he was fully capable of multitasking slide manipulation and social commentary. I briefly considered asking for a manager, but decided it wasn't worth engaging further. If basic awareness and professionalism are optional on the floor, that's a leadership issue, not just an employee one. I left disappointed -- not because inventory was limited, but because the standard of service was. Specialty stores survive on expertise and professionalism. When that slips, you're just a warehouse with attitude. I hope management takes this seriously. There are strong employees at this location. Unfortunately, consistency appears to be selective.
