My first time at this location of Big 5 Sporting Goods. I was going to exchange my merchandise. They have a lot of selections that I couldn't find in Rowland Heights or Alhambra. The store was also clean and neat inside. Even though I couldn't find my size for exchange, the lady at the cashier's was very helpful and friendly. She offered to help me look for other Big 5 locations that have the size and style that I was looking for. Great customer service. read more

When shopping for a gift, I like to browse in stores and see the products in person. Another advantage is you can take home your items, no need to wait for the goods to be shipped. So many are ordering online, which can be deceiving when your item arrives. I was looking for a birthday gift, which can be difficult when they have "everything." The store is organized with a good inventory. The shelves are fully stocked with sports equipment, camping gear, athletic clothing for all ages. The employee even brought out a huge ladder to reach some products that were displayed at the very top of the shelf. It is winter, so I bought "warming gloves" and some cozy slip-on booties that were lined with soft sheep skin fur. I think, I may go back and buy more of those gloves (sold in Mens, Women and Youth sizes). Shop in person, 7 days a week, and don't forget to tell'em that Rosemary sent ya! read more

Good service here and always keep its super clean. they always have good specials!

Pretty cramped inside, but friendly staff and the prices weren't too crazy. We were looking to spend $20 on new soccer balls for the kids. Got a size 4 for $25 adidas training and then two $18 ones! They had a whole aisle with just soccer balls and an okay variety read more

I hope a manager reads my review. I'm usually the one who gives a bad review to companies/ facilities. I was pleasantly surprised by this store's customer service, I had to write a review. I went to this store yesterday (Sunday), looking for a long sleeve suiting suit top because I've had skin cancer, and I have to be very careful about allowing sun on my body. The assistant manager was wonderful. I found a long sleeve top, but they didn't have my size. He called numerous stores in search of what I needed. I told him that I appreciated his dedication and customer service. In addition, the other 2 employees were just as wonderful. I can't say enough about how wonderful it was to actually see great customer service. I usually don't shop at Big 5, but now I will be a regular customer. Thank you so much. read more

Staff was extremely helpful and very friendly when we were in search for track shoes for my daughter. They do not have what she needed, but they were very accommodating and willing to make other recommendations. read more

We went to Big 5 Sporting Goods to buy a pair of sneakers and found such great prices so we bought three pairs. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the cashier. When we were in the shoe department we were helped immediately. Best shopping experience we have ever had shopping for shoes. Staff was friendly and sales floor was clean and fully stocked. read more

Awful customer service. Don't shop here... I've lived in San Dimas for over 30 years and have shopped here since I was in little league. I've shopped here for my kids as well. You would think 30 years of store loyalty would earn you a little respect. But not here... I made a purchase and wanted to return it but didn't have the receipt. No problem I thought, I'll just take store credit... but they wanted to give me the item back at 50% of the purchase price even though they still sell the item, and have them stocked, at full retail... Louise, the angry lady behind the counter, explained that if I had the original credit card I used, that she could run it to determine that I paid full price. I DID have the card via Apple Pay but she wouldn't run it because I didn't have my drivers license. But I DID have a photo of the front and back on my iPhone, however she wouldn't even look at it and refused to help me. So I walked out with my $24 item and they will never see my family again... over $12.50 in store credit... pathetic considering I've been shopping there for 3 DECADES lol. Crazy to think that in a time where you don't have to patronize local retail stores, but choose too to help keep people working, those same establishments treat you like you don't matter... Guess who doesn't treat customers like this... AMAZON. San Dimas Big 5 customer service is at an all time low. read more

Great Selection for Little League Baseball & More! I recently visited Big 5 in San Dimas, and I was really impressed with both their selection and customer service! As a 1st time parent of a Little Leaguer in Glendora, I wasn't sure if we had any affordable options for gear in the area. I asked some fellow parents and coaches and they all said the Big 5 in San Dimas so here we are! To be honest the #1 thing that drew me in was the fact that they provide a special coupon for local Little League teams so you can get 20% off regularly priced items and 10% off sale items! This is so cool for families in the community who want to save on gear. The staff was incredibly helpful, especially Robert, the manager. He took the time to help prepare my son with all the necessary gear for his first day of baseball tryouts, ensuring we had everything from a new glove to the perfect bat. His attention to detail and friendly attitude made the whole experience stress-free and enjoyable. The store is well-organized, making it easy to find what you need, and there are always great sales going on. Whether you're looking for high-quality baseball gear or other sporting goods, I highly recommend checking them out. I'll definitely be back for all my future sporting needs! read more

Been there twice. The first time I was there with my entire family of 6. Everything we needed for our snow day trip was in store: kids snow boots, sled, etc. The space was well organized so we were able to find what we needed quickly and with ease. The customer service was very good. They were helpful in answering all of our questions and they even seemed happy to help. The second time I went the cashier was helpful giving me advice for parking up in the National Forest area and let me know where else I'm able to buy the passes in case we need them. Her advice was priceless as she did not have to let me know since they offer what we needed right there in store. What a gem of a lady. Will definitely continue to shop there for all of my families sporting good and snow day needs. read more

Sometimes you can find good deals on hiking shoes and other outdoor equipment here. Last month, I was able to snag a pair of Columbia shoes--that are selling for $70 on Amazon--for $30 here. This Big 5, the T.J. Maxx, and the Royal Panda Chinese restaurant are the last remaining strongholds of the original stores that have existed since the San Dimas Plaza that they're in was built in about 1988. Every other store has since been replaced. All of us old people remember when we came to this plaza for either Blockbuster, Ralphs (which has since been split into the now Smart and Final and Harbor Freight), or Rite Aid. This Big 5 used to be where I'd buy my basketballs, baseball, karate, or swim stuff as a kid. In fact, this is where everyone I knew in the local area used to buy most of their sports gear (before Amazon took over). My dad's house is about two blocks from here and he still comes here, for fishing gear mostly. read more

I always see this place but had never stopped in before. I was stopping in to find something for a family member. I was provided with great customer service, and they were very helpful. I definitely will come back, I wasn't expecting to find items that I would like, honestly several items did catch my eye. I will be back! read more

thank you to Noel for helping me with a recent purchase. They were out of stock in their location but he phoned a head to the next location to confirm they had what I needed. Super helpful super nice super kind super appreciate the help thank you Noel read more

This place has knives, ammo and guns in stock. Got a great little pocket knife for myself, new workout gloves and pull up bar. Helpful employees, great service and they have what you need, employees are super welcome to clients

Big 5 is where I get ammo especially in these hard time. Call ahead to to see if they'll receive ammo inventory on Mondays. Have to line up early Monday mornings to receive ammo rations but prices are not marked up. Larry the store manager is very polite and professional. read more

This store lacks customer service! Period .... I hope the management sees this review considering they lost a great customer today! My husband went to the store to purchase amo the sales person there sitting chatting with another sales people didn't even acknowledge him at all.... When he requested to buy 1000 amo the guy responded "oh no you have to come back, I'm busy now" WHAT?? Who does that? We are truly disappointed with this service and will never step a foot in this store again! Your loss read more

They have a good amount of equipment for a smaller store. Red haired girl on staff not so nice. I ran into a random box as I turned a corner that was just on the ground and I notified the sales associate and she just looked at me like "Ok...?" Not sure why they have product lying in the middle of aisles like that and I also don't appreciate the way she didn't care about my concerns. It was still there when I left. read more

Came with my dad to buy him some shoes , Brian helped us and he was very nice and friendly

Not a bad place to get inexpensive sport attire for your family. The main reason I come here is due to the $10 coupon that arrives to my home periodically. The selection is limited but the prices are affordable. The shoes are not that attractive and if you do find the one you want they are usually sold out. I feel this place is good alternative to Walmart and great for athletic equipment for your kids. Customer service was not bad as everyone was friendly. Lastly there was ample parking so shopping isn't as hectic like other plazas or shopping centers. read more

Big 5 Sporting Goods - Inside the store sales - Sporting Goods Near Me - San Dimas, California

I happen to LOVE Big 5 for man- gifts, sports items, and their epic end- of-season sales. Yeah, sure, some of the stuff is off-brand and not as prestigious I guess as Dick's, but for smaller kiddoes and disposible items you only use a couple times a year (ie. snow pants) you just can not beat it. The employees are usually younger kids, always courteous and helpful. Also when you have to return something they are good, too, like the time I had to return a tabletop ping-pong net that was a piece o' caca- they took it back no problemo. read more

My last visit was very unpleasant. As soon as I walked in, there was this horrible smell. The whole store is stuffed with supplies. Overstuffed. Very narrow aisles. I found what I was looking for, but not the size. Kept looking around for an employee, but no one was around to ask questions. I think they are a bit understaffed. read more

Visited your San Dimas location today 9/27/20 at 4:40 pm we were not greeted with a hello! Never asked if we needed help... Checked out and our purchase was 49 dollars plus change asked about coupons and was ignored and then we asked again and Fiona said she didn't know and if we find one it has to have a bar code, she never looked up at us... Not very good customer service! We couldn't find a coupon so we paid and left and didn't get a thank you, just have a good day! Customer service training needs to happen... read more

5 stars for big 5! I always shop at this location and felt compelled to leave a review after seeing some bad reviews. First, cashiers don't normally leave their post to walk costumers to an item and this goes for any store... There are always sales people on the floor for this. The employees at big 5 always go above and beyond. At this location specifically, the management is very kind and attentive. I buy cleats, shin guards ,coaching supplies and shoes here. The sales people know a lot about sports and give good suggestions. They must hire athletes or something. read more

UNPROFESSIONAL LAMES! Waited in line to buy some goggles, NBD. When I reach the cashier, she turns away and starts to engage in a conversation with the Manager about whether or not she could have a day off for her relatives' baptism. AWESOME. After standing there with my goggles in my hand for a minute, I bust out a nice and loud "AHEM," and tell her "Girl, I don't have time to hear about your baptism problems!" After she realizes she's at work, to do...WORK....The girl sort of stammers an apology, finally rings me up, and goes back to her conversation. Don't get me wrong, I get it. Peeps in retail don't always offer the best service, as these sort of shenanigans happen from time to time (my dad has the best McDonald's cashier on cellphone story, but I digress..). BUT....I do expect the manager on duty to redirect her employee when she wasn't properly serving a customer. Instead these two fools decided to have a convo at the register while people were in line. Looks like Sport Chalet just gained a customer! read more

I have a story about shopping at big five and San Dimas I want in there and I had bought some bullets I'm a hunter and a I do some indoor shooting at any rate on the nice girl at the counter was helping me out just fine the manager came over was eyeing me looking at me then the assistant manager came over she was also they were both just there to me why the girl was ringing me up I was asking about different molds and whatnot then after they ring me up when I had my stuff I was walking out am the manager said to the assistant understood to the manager said I hope doesn't kill anybody I thought How rude for someone to say that judging somebody by looks or whatever they're judging me just to say something like that absolutely rude of that manager assistant manager read more

Not a big fan of this particular store. Every time I am there, there seems to be an issue at the counter as I always see an unhappy customer waiting to speak with a GM on hand. As far as selection goes, the you won't find anything too crazy. In my opinion, it's great for outdoors/hiking. Everything else, I would opt to go elsewhere. You will find the occasional great deal, if you're lucky it is still in stock. I'm waiting for a good deal on a Camelbak pack pack for hiking.. Shh.. Don't tell anyone! read more

Many thanks to the service we received on Wednesday this past week...sorry it took a while to let you know. We were on the hunt for a hinged knee brace and yelped locations near our dr. Several options appeared and I called Big 5. I was greeted with a welcoming voice, Ashley. She kindly informed me they have what we needed. In fact a couple of options. So when we arrived I was greeted by her and directed to the braces. There was a gentleman in that area who offered assistance and some insights to the braces - thank goodness as I was lost on selections. My husband on crutches was offered a seat up front. Ashley's amazing kindness and service didn't go unnoticed...THANK YOU!!! read more

Terrible customer service. Manager was not helpful at all with a return. I did not have a receipt but I did have the bank statement that showed I bought something from the same store I was returning it too which is the Big 5 in San Dimas. Very rude!!! Just left there with my pre teen daughter and I am so pissed! My daughter needed a bathing suit, she tried on a bunch when she found one she liked the bottoms were tight so we switched with another pair. So we had a 10 on top and a 14 on bottoms. We get to the register the lady calls the manager over and announces loudly that we switched them. Then she looks at my daughter and says (loud) you don't fit into a 10? My daughter that is already worried about her weight and hates shopping for suits. I said I would pay the difference. The manager that looked 16 said we couldn't do it. He Atleast was nicer about it. The lady cashier was so rude and not even trying to hide that fact of rolling her eyes! I will never shop here again. Needless to say my daughter left in tears and now we have a suit that won't fit. read more
