Ed is very detailed and takes the time to get to know what you're looking for to improve your game. He explains the details of the drilling and this was the best fit I've had on a ball. (I'm reviewing after rolling 21 games.) I'm still adjusting but it has been very consistent and took a lot of stress off my wrist. Thanks Ed and I'll be back for the next new ball. read more

Ed is great and I'm glad I found him on Yelp! I had recently purchased my first ball somewhere else and it wasn't quite working for me, so I brought it to Ed. He really listened to the issues, assessed the problem, suggested some drilling changes and gave me a few tips on how to correct my own mechanical issues. A few days later I picked up my redrilled ball and it feels so much better. Mechanics/me - well that's still a work in progress, but now that the ball is right I can focus on that. I know when I get to 'the next level', whatever that means for a beginner, I'll go back to Ed for more gear and advice. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned pro, Ed will take the time to listen and get you setup properly so you can improve your game and enjoy bowling. Great service and prices. You can't go wrong with Ed. read more

I've been going to Ed for a few years now, and the experience has always been excellent. Ed has drilled several of my bowling balls and every single one has fit my hand perfectly. You can really tell he takes pride in his work and pays close attention to the small details that make a big difference. What I appreciate most is the extra time and care he puts into each ball. He doesn't rush the process and makes sure everything feels right before you leave. That level of attention and craftsmanship is hard to find. If you're looking for someone who truly knows what they're doing and takes the time to get it right, I highly recommend Ed. I'll definitely continue bringing my equipment here. read more

Whether you're new to bowling or have been at it for years, Ed is your guy. With over 50+ years of experience, real service like his is hard to come by these days. As a newbie who was totally clueless, I really appreciated how friendly and patient he was while walking me through the basics of bowling balls. Plus he has some very friendly dogs that stick around for your fitting if you're a dog lover. At our first appointment, we sat down for a fitting, got my fingers measured, and figured out which ball made the most sense for me. I came back a week later to pick it up and it was a perfect fit. (Crazy how much lighter a ball feels when it's made for your hand!) I also got to pick the color for my fingertip inserts and add a name engraving. It's been almost a month now with around 100 games, and the fit still feels great. I can hold the ball with barely any effort and my thumb comes out smooth with a nice pop. I'm learning a lot as I grow with this ball, and I honestly can't wait to go back to Ed for the next one. read more

I was looking for a Bowling bowl for a first time player nothing fancy just something simple. I don't wanna get pressured into buying an expensive ball or anything like that and I came upon Ed's shop on yelp, read a couple of the reviews and really liked. He seems very legit, he called me back and I set up an appointment. he only takes clients by appointments and cash only, which is understandable. When I met Ed, he was such a nice guy, made me feel comfortable and took his time and explain about what I need as the first time bowler.. I chose the ball I wanted and he ordered it for me, and he measured my fingers for the holes in the ball and he shared some tips and stories. Overall I spent a whole good hour with him. After a week, my ball was ready for pick up, with my name is inprinted, love the color and it was beautiful just the way I wanted and it fit perfectly. Ed is your go to guy. I definitely recommend him. read more

Ed is outstanding when it comes to knowledge on bowling. Recently started bowling again and wanted to drill a new bowling ball after having my old ones become obsolete (cracked). Ed explained everything thoroughly and went through the different options. Learned something new about finger tip inserts and had my ball drilled and picked up at my convenience. Cant wait to bowl again! Definitely well worth it! Highly recommend Ed as he's patient to explain everything. read more

Ed is the best, hands down, no argument. My wife surprised me for my 40th birthday with a trip to Ed's shop -- right away I knew I liked him and knew he knew his stuff. I'm a casual bowler who has joined a club in the last few years with some friends, but wanted a custom ball that I could call mine. Ed made me the bowling ball of my dreams, while also instilling some short lessons on how to throw, clean, and care for the ball. He did it with humor, kindness, and wisdom that was appreciated all around. The experience of meeting and working with Ed was a delight. If you are looking for the king of pros to help you get the perfect bowling ball, Ed is your man! Thank you again, Ed. read more

First of all he demands to call. Then he says I can text but then when you do he tells you to call. And when I did move so many things around and call during the window he demands, he wouldn't answer, then told me to call back when he did answer. Not everyone has privilege to call whenever they want. And I have trauma from call center customer service work so every time it took 4-6 hours for anxiety relief meditations. He shouldn't have to know that to respect the basic morality. Also he says he is busy but on the phone he lectures about the same thing over and over and over and shows off. And when you try to ask question with comprehending what he already said, he thinks you are still talking about something way more surface. He says things like he turns people down, but so what? That doesn't mean he can just disrespect and be arrogant. Why would I have to pay money to be humiliated and also basically do hostess work for free for his ego? So I gave up after 3 times of trying to make an appointment. I just hung up because I felt like I have to pull my hair the continued any longer. No matter how good he might be at what he does, the disrespect, patronizing and arrogant harassment are never worth it especially when I'm the customer that has to pay money. How he treated me even just on the phone made me need to go to therapy session out of pocket. How insane and absurd. read more

Met with Ed at his shop in Pasadena. Ed is extremely knowledgeable in the game of bowling. We sat down and went through his fitting and I told him what I wanted out of the ball. I also had him refit an old ball for proper grip. He watched some video of my delivery and gave some helpful tips on how to improve. I picked up the balls today and headed straight to the lanes. 212 right out of the box without a warmup. Could not be happier with the results. I AM a customer for life! Thanks Ed read more

Ed is hands down one of the best guys around. He's been my go-to guy for bowling ball purchases and drilling, and will always give you an honest opinion. Not a typical salesman. He'll do his best to get you gear that best suits you and that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. But he also won't argue with you if your mind is set on something altogether different (before you attempt to blame him for anything though, just remember he gave you his opinions first). He currently does appointments only, which I actually really prefer. Ed's a pretty busy guy, but he has your attention when you're there with him. New at bowling and don't know where to start? Ed is great! I am first time bowler and just started in a league. He was recommended to me but someone in the league and he is just great. Both of my siblings and their girlfriends, my fiance, and myself have come to Ed's shop to get our bowling balls drilled and all of us came to the conclusion that he is simply the best. My fiance was the last one of us to get his own bowling ball and Ed is still just as honest and patient as he was five years ago. Ed is extremely knowledgeable and explains every step in detail with insight to how to throw the bowling ball. The price to get the holes drilled in the ball was super reasonable (cash only). Ed's original location was in Monterey Park but now is in Pasadena. It is a tad longer of a drove for us, but absolutely worth it. Ed was also able to have my fiance ball done by the next day. I highly recommend Ed! read more

I was very pleased to have a friend refer me to Ed. I'm a novice bowler and wanted a ball drilled for me. I was in need of a new bowling ball, and thankfully, I found Ted Williamson! I'm a novice bowler, with about a 140-150 average. Ted was honest about what kind of ball would be best for my skill level and playing schedule. Didn't need a fancy ball, just one that could help me improve and meet my goals. Ed also gave me great pointers and I felt as though I had received a free bowling lesson! Thank you, Ed, for making bowling so much more fun and challenging. I've improved already. I highly recommend visiting Ted if you're serious about having fun and improving your game. read more

::Updated Review:: For my daughter's birthday, I decided to get her own bowling ball and shoes. She wants a bowling party so I thought it would be a good idea. Ed has been helpful in the past so I went to his store. I knew he would know which ball and shoes to get for her. I hope this will be a perfect birthday gift for my daughter. ::Experience:: -Ed was so great!! He asked my daughter what her favorite color is and he showed different styles of balls with the color she likes. Next, Ed had to measure her fingers for the bowling ball. I also bought a roller bag for myself. Ed told me the "Do's and the Don't" for the bag. My daughter was also happy she could get her name engraved on the bowling ball. -TJ was also helpful and friendly. He gave my daughter tips on keeping her bowling shoes in good condition. ::Customer Service:: Ed was really patient, nice, and easy to talk to. My daughter's favorite color is blue. Ed picked out shoes that had a blue design. It was just the right shoes, my daughter liked it! He also made sure the shoes fit my daughter perfectly. Ed was very helpful! I thought the whole process would take a long time but it didn't; all thanks to Ed! ::Tips:: -Call for store hours -For more details read my original review. read more

I bought a undrilled bowling ball for a friend on his birthday and made an appointment with Ed to drill some custom holes. Ed has a nice pro shop in the back of his house and he runs a very professional business. He measured my friend's fingers and we returned a week later and picked up the ball. He was very nice ,knows his stuff, and his prices seemed reasonable. He even engraved my friend Fabio's name on it. Overall a great experience. One day when I upgrade from my spare bowling ball (it is a name of a type pf plastic bowling ball that is designed to go straight; most beginners start with this type of ball) I will see Ed to drill me some holes. no pun intended :) read more

Good afternoon Bowlers, We just picked up our new bowling balls, shoes, and bag(s) from Ed. Ed is a professional individual with outstanding "people-skills" and brings 48 years of knowledge to the sport. Our balls were fitted, inspected by Ed again just to make sure everything was "right". This is what customer-service is all about, which has been lost. My father, who was a professional bowler knew Ed and drilled his ball. So we became family again. -Manny & Cindy Caldera read more
