I've been a big fan of Giovedi ever since their pop up in Restaurant Row. I've been to their Chinatown location a few times, but it has been awhile and I have returned this past weekend since a friend has been wanting to try. She heard that their espresso martini is one of the best on the island and she was dying to order it. We had a small girl dinner with some cocktails. We ordered the carpaccio, onion dip, and tiramisu. We tried to order the hokkaido milk rolls, but they were unfortunately out of that, so be sure to come in earlier if that is something you want to try. Cocktail wise, I had the peacock tail, which was a tequila sour and it was so yummy i drank it so fast. My friend ordered the mint chocolate cocktail and it was everything she was craving. All appetizers were small, but shareable, and definitely great! To finish, I order the espresso martini, which I have unofficially renamed it to turbo mode and it paired very well with our tiramisu. Service was excellent and our bartender was very attentive. Will definitely be returning for that tequila sour and the milk rolls! follow my foodie adventures on ig: smolgirlfatass

It took me way too long but my wife and I finally made it to Giovedi at the strong recommendation of many friends. It was awesome. The moment you step in to the restaurant you feel warmly welcomed. The feel of the place is casual and inviting. We sat at the bar which we always enjoy doing. The bartender Michael took great care of us and we even had a chance to talk with the owner Jen while we enjoyed the onion dip, green salad, and three pastas - the Capellini Granchio, Spaghetti AOP, and Gnocchi Mapolonese. Soooo delicious. Michael paired up some great wines and needless to say we left very happy. Can't wait to return to try more of the menu.

Had a great experience...a little leery after some of the mixed reviews but went with an open palette. The place got packed so do recommend getting there early. We got a lovely table outside where it was less noisy than inside. We ordered: Hokkiado Milk Rolls Onion Dip Prosciutto San Daniele Gnocchi Mabolinaise Grilled Kampachi Tiramisu 5 spice carrot cake The highlights for me were the prosciutto, gnocchi and grilled kampachi. The prosciutto was served with a fluffy Vietnamese puffy bread, small side of pickled veggies and delicious prosciutto and sliced cheese. Prepared like a sandwich, it provided a great texture, crunch and taste. The gnocchi was lovely and rich with a savory braised beef cheek sauce. The grilled kampachi was my favorite as the portion size was good and cooked perfectly, crispy outside and soft inside with a wonderful vegetable curry sauce. All the other dishes were good but not outstanding or that unique.

Hokkaido Milk Roll w/ Black Garlic Butter

Oh man this review is super old (a few years, so shame) but gotta add it anyway because it was a memorable meal. It's a cute restaurant in downtown nearby Fete. Love the interior with the brick wall background and a fun bar near the entrance. The outside is pretty too and has an open patio dining area too but kinda warm in the summer. Service was good and everyone was friendly and helpful. Drinks were refreshing and unique- we tried the Strawbroni and the Magic Window. The highlights to us were the appetizers and I'm so glad we got so many to try. Hokkaido Milk Rolls were slightly crisp on top and the inside was soft, fluffy, and delicious with the black garlic butter- you have to try it. The absolute favorite was the onion dip and shrimp chips with caviar! So savory and rich and creamy with a good salt punch but not too much. Licked this one clean as lady-like as possible. We tried the foie gras with a fruity spread and sweet and tangy drizzle with the grilled bread and it was pretty plentiful so each bread was loaded up to the hilt. Prosciutto San Danielle was like a sesame donut that you could fill with a ton of salty thin sliced prosciutto and tangy giardineria. The mains we got were the Dan Mien Vietnam-Atriciana and the Gnocchi Mapolonese. Both were good but just didn't stand up to the appetizers. I think the Gnocchi Mapolonese had microgreens that tasted like cilantro which is an automatic no for me and I didn't know it would be in the dish or I would have not ordered it. The other pasta dish looked like it would be super flavorful but for some reason it didn't have a notable or craveable flavor. Maybe it needed more coating on the noodles. The tiramisu was tasty!

Maybe I ordered the wrong things. Maybe I was too excited to try this place. But wow. Nothing was good. Started off the meal with $11 Hokkaido Milk Rolls. Sure, they were warm and fluffy, but nothing to write home about and about the same or worse than the table bread that most restaurants at this price point would provide for free. The black garlic butter was a disappointing cacophony of sweet and savory that seemed unable to make up its mind on whether it wanted to taste good or not. Pass. The Mafaldine Malunggay was absolutely tasteless. No hint of flavor whatsoever. Plain green pasta and tomatoes. Like something you might feed a dog who's having some tummy issues. Hard pass. The Mushroom Donburi at least had SOME flavor. The whole thing was overpowered by the taste of the popped venere black rice. Like spoonful after spoonful of slightly burnt microwave popcorn. I feel like this dish *would* have been absolutely delicious as a risotto with a creamy white sauce that balanced the crunchy nuttiness of the venere. But it wasn't. Just a dry bowl of mushrooms sitting on tragically overcooked high-quality Japanese rice that tasted like a home kitchen accident. Harder pass. The Gnocchi Mabolognese was the best thing we ate here, but that's not saying much. A failed attempt fusion between gnocchi in beef ragu and mabo tofu. Lacking both the comforting, heartwarming taste of nonna's secret sauce while also lacking the sharp punch of umami deliciousness that is a proper mabo. The gnocchi also lacked the tender chewiness that makes gnocchi enjoyable to eat--it just melted into nothingness upon first bite. Guess I'm glad I tried it, but never again. The vibes are immaculate, and the waitstaff is friendly, quick, and knowledgeable. But the menu is overpriced for really, really bad food. Hard, hard pass.

So so good. All the appetizers and entrees were strong, and some of the dishes are some of the best bites I had during my recent weeklong trip to Honolulu. Definitely get the prosciutto appetizer and the char siu pork. It's been a couple of weeks since we ate here but I'm still thinking about how good that char siu pork was. Focus on the appetizers and entrees. Dessert was nothing special. That said, if I could just get a scoop of that ginger ice cream that's served with the carrot cake, that would be an amazing finish to a great meal. About half of the tables are outside in a courtyard, which can be very nice if the weather is cooperating. It was a beautiful evening the night we were there.

Love this concept! Typically one can only find Japanese-Italian restaurants, this spot has a plethora of Asian inspired Italian dishes. I'm in town to visit my family for the holidays so my Aunt took me to this newly opened spot that she recently tried. Although there were only two of us, we ordered like four. ONION DIP - onion five ways, warm shrimp chips - super tasty, lots of good textures. Definitely get it with the caviar, the saltiness gave it good balance. Love the shrimp chips for Asian flare and flavor. FOIE GRAS TORCHON - caramelized onion, vino cotto, served with olive oil toast - the vino cotto was excellent, the plate definitely needed more of it. It provided good acidity to liven the dish up. PROSCIUTTO SAN DANIELE - vietnamese sesamo donuts, giardiniera pickles - this is a BIG appetizer but was light enough to whet your palette. I MIGHT have enjoyed a little stronger cheese. CAPELLINI GRANCHIO - dungeness crab, preserved lemon, kani miso breadcrumbs - super light and refreshing. Breadcrumbs provided good crunch texture to make it interesting. OCTOPUS MALFADINE Special of the night - "meat sauce" - must like seafood to enjoy this dish. I THINK they ground the octopus to make the sauce. I liked it but would have LOVED it if there were also larger pieces of octopus floating about. MRS. TRAN'S TIRAMISU - amaro nonino-dipped lady fingers, mascarpone, espresso - a good tiramisu, there happened to be a lot of cocoa powder on ours that evening and I t over powered the amaro nonino a tad. I'd definitely eat here again. There seems to be a lot of interesting items on the menu to try. Street parking in Chinatown is always terrible but great if you get lucky and find a spot. Otherwise, park in the lot under Mei Sum, the one you enter from Beretania and walk a block down. I think it's the "cleanest" relatively speaking.

Delicious food and a cute space. We came for dinner and shared a bunch of dishes family style, including the milk rolls, onion dip, mafaldine, mushroom donburi, kampachi, and pork chop. EVERYTHING was delicious and it was the perfect amount of food for 4 of us. We all had different favorites, and nothing was a miss. Giovedi is probably my favorite of the up-and-coming restaurants in Chinatown, especially now that Pig & The Lady has moved to kaimuki. I will absolutely be back here, and even brave the Chinatown parking situation for it.

Five Spice Carrot Cake with Ginger Gelato

Can't decide between Asian or Italian? At Giovedis, you can have both. Located behind Fete, this restaurant serves Italian with an Asian twist. Seating is available both indoors and outdoors, in the back courtyard, but is limited, so I recommend making a reservation in advance. On our first visit, we ordered the Hokkaido milk rolls, onion dip, Dan mien Vietnam-Atriciana pasta, gnocchi mapolonese, Washugyu garlic steak, and mushroom donburi. The highlight was the gnocchi which were pillowy soft while the mapo sauce was slightly and delightfully numbing from the Sichuan spices. Most surprising was the crispy black rice in the mushroom donburi and the garlicky peppery, perfectly cooked steak. The Vietnam-Amatriciana was good, but I couldn't really taste the lap xuong and I wish the Asian flavors were a bit stronger. The grand finale, the five spice carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and ginger gelato. The cake was moist, the frosting smooth and luscious, and the gelato was creamy and gingery. It was the perfect way to end the meal. The servings were modest and prices were on the high end. They were also quite busy when we visited, so service was a bit slow, but overall we really enjoyed the meal. We especially appreciated servers noting an allergy at our table and making adjustments as needed.

One of the places I wanted to try. It is located in Chinatown next to Fete. The restaurant was fairly small for the indoor seatings but they also have an outdoor seatings which is more spacious and looks like it's reserved for big groups. Hokkaido milk rolls: The milk rolls were fluffy and soft. The black garlic butter was rich and pack with flavor. It was delicious with the bread. Foie Gras torchon: This was like an elevated version of Vietnamese pate. The bread initially came out very burnt. We requested for another bread that was not burnt. They remade it for us and it was better. This dish was rich and the spread was smooth and thick. The caramelized onions give it a sweet flavor. It was an interesting appetizer. Gnocchi Mapolonese: Absolutely love this dish. One of the best unique pasta I've tried. The gnocchi was pillowy and not at all grainy. It soaked the sauce which gives it flavor. The sauce was similar to Bo Kho (Vietnamese beef stew) but more fragrant. The whipped tofu is just a dollop on top which was pretty little. The braised beef was nice and tender. Mushroom Donburi: This was also a very good dish. There were different variety of mushrooms cooked with a crispy texture. This dish was crunchy and pretty interesting. The rice was good with some garlicky flavor. Overall, the dinner was good. The only issue I had was that it does tend to get a little hot in there. Since it's an open doors restaurant, there's no air con so it was pretty humid. I was sweating at the end of the meal. The water was also lukewarm which doesn't help to cool us down. Service was good. Our server was friendly.

Decent food! Excellent service! Inside seating and patio dining available. Think if this place and imagine an Italian bistro. As for the food, here are my thoughts. 1. Any pasta is a good pick and OK 2. think about the scallop crudo (i LOVE scallops but there was something not right about what we got) and be sure to ask about when it was prepared... 3) got to have that pocket bread (One order enough for 3-4) 4) got to have the milk bread (you'll need 2 orders for 3-4) Not sure if / and how much their corkage fee may be. Their wine list is limited to imported stuff so if you are domestic person, be sure to check on the corkage before you go and byob Go later; like after 6 pm for street parking. If not the have a couple municipal parking spots in close proximity

Slightly hidden amongst the surrounding of Kaka'ako is La Cucina Ristorante Itlaiano for many though I knew of this place for quite some time since I do have frequent Imperial Plaza for many other biz found here. The restaurant is located on the grounds floor inside the lobby area and can be easily missed for it's simplicity but those who knows it's a place to visit. To do so you must make reservations and it's online by e-mail only and it was a process for me as it's their primary way of communication along with presetting your order as well especially for braised items that requires 48hrs in advance notice. We didn't select those items but have decided to preorder our starters which is their Insalata di Casa which is a lovely simple salad with Italian vinaigrette and some fresh tomatoes and Bruchetta which is also another simple item but until you've tried them it was very crafted and delicious that was wonderful start to our meal. To share we decided on the Rigatoni Bolognese though they were out of Rigatoni and offered us Pappardelle instead which I was fine and Ravioli Zucca and from what I understand the Pappardelle is house made and it was just the perfect consistency and the bolognese was a delicate sauce that went perfectly together but the Ravioli Zucca was just as amazing. Stuffed with Butternut Squash and my favorite vodka sauce is paired with Italian sausage and garnished with sliced almonds and Italian parsley it was such an elegant bite. This spot is very small and cozy so you must wait outside to be called to your table which they set up for you before you're seated and parking is validated in the building though I did find street parking which is free as well after 6pm but the vibe here is very calm though many do come here as groups and it can get quite loud at moments though the staff did very well to course our starters and entree which is nice as the table is small and won't find much at the same time. I do appreciated the time it takes to prepare the reservations though must admit it was quite different to make it all work and see that it's all done in ways that you have very little wait for your table and your food as well and just loved how it's all crafted to make it a balance of harmony for us all. The grandma pizza, similar to Boston's spinach and garlic pizza, was AMAZING! Easily tops Boston's version because of the Alfredo sauce that they use as the base. The service was impeccable, efficient, and friendly. The staff were very polite and attentive throughout our visit. If you're looking for a better alternative for exceptional Italian cuisine in Hawaii Kai, Repetti's is your place. Removed from the hustle and bustle, and always welcoming and good.

Whoa! Amazing date night here on a Friday night!!!…read more Very romantic and intimate restaurant with outstanding service. Chisum was our server and he was just excellent. All of the server staff was super attentive. My husband and I both chose the prix fixe menu. It's $125. Every dish was excellent!! You have to get the squid ink pasta, truffle pasta and the lamb chops. My filet was also cooked perfectly. I can't wait to come back and try the rest of their menu.

The restaurant validates parking, $8 for 4 hours, tip not included. For my son's 18th birthday he wanted to eat pasta. After looking at many Yelp reviews, we ended up making reservations at Taormina. Unfamiliar with the menu we decided to do the five tasting course. As of 4/22/26 the base price is $125 and depending on what you choose, there are some add ons. For example the carbonara was +$25 and the Ricci di mare was +$18. Food: the Focaccia bread was free and comes with free refills. The salmon with caviar was really good. It had the perfect balance but very small, about 1.5". The next dish was the baked abalone. That was also very delicious but two bites and it's over. At this point, we were starting to think we would leave hungry. The next dish was the pasta. We tried both the carbonara and the Ricci di mare. Both were very good. The carbonara came with freshly slices truffles and thick crispy pieces of bacon. Highly recommend for truffle lovers. I'm not a huge uni fan but surprisingly the Ricci di mare was also really good. Of note, the pasta in the five course tasting is half the size of the regular order. Even at half the size, I felt the serving portion was good. I felt satisfied but not full. The next dish was the main course so filet mignon and monchong. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly but I personally didn't like the sweet sour balsamic vinegar taste that was drizzled over. I would have preferred it to be more savory. The monchong was okay but a little overcooked for my liking. The portion size of the main course was good. Lastly was our desert but to our surprise, they brought out a nicely written happy birthday platter with half a lava flow desert and a small scoop of ice cream. My son really enjoyed it. The creme caramel was also good and reminded me of flan. Service: the waitress did her job but I personally felt we had better service entering the restaurant and being seated. She had no smile, did not offer any recommendations, and no small talk which is fine but noticeable. Our bill came out to $463.87 tip not included. Though we really enjoyed the salmon and abolone I'm not sure it's worth the price and the extra three bites. Next time I would just stick with the pasta. If we had just ordered the full order of pasta our bill would've been $195.

My father and brother are both military veterans and enjoyed the fact that this venue was situated at a golf course they patronized before. We all ordered drinks--I ordered a bottle of wine, taking advantage of the Half-off Wine Wednesdays; some tried the alcohol specials and others simply elected to have soda. I ordered a few appetizers for the table and those went quickly: calamari, bruschetta, and artichoke dip. Yum! Main entrees followed and everyone seemed to enjoy their selections. We ordered dessert and were disappointed that they ran out of creme brulee...my father ordered the cheesecake and thoroughly enjoyed it. My only reason for not giving five stars has to do with the outdoor seating. I wish the chairs were more comfortable, as we sat there for awhile, waiting for our server to take our large group order along with waiting for food to come out. There is adequate parking and the restrooms are clean and accessible. An elevator is located in the lobby for those who are not able to easily climb the flight of stairs to the venue. I wish the signage was better, as my 74 year old father took the outside steps, as he thought that was the entrance, per signage downstairs.

Like she was welcoming family and friends to dine here. We got a seat on the outdoor lanai, honestly, such beautiful sunset views! Once seated, our server Erin really sealed the deal on this location. She truly reminded me of the best server I ever knew (my mom, a lifelong waitress, now enjoying retirement). Erin knew this was our first time here, and she made it her mission to make sure it was not our last. She was friendly, real down-to-earth, and efficient. She offered suggestions, refilled drinks and brought bread, all without us even asking. I will definitely return, and if Im able to, request Erin as our server. This was my hubby and mine first date night in years... so mahalo for the memorable meal, Erin!

I remember it used to be a Genki Sushi restaurant a long time ago. I was pleasantly surprised how stunning the interior was! Please check out pictures of waiting room, bar, and amazing second floor display of wines galore! Nice cozy area for intimate dining. Remember to see Toto bathroom! The service is implacable! Prompt and attentive especially allowing us to have separate checks! ( which not all restaurants let you)!! Now for the food: Make sure you check the Monthly Lunch Specials beside the extensive menu! 3 of us had the Clam & Bourguignon Butter Spaghetti: 5 small manila clams, white wine, clam stock, garlic, minimal cherry tomatoes, bourguinon butter, and a few sea asparagus tossed with handmade spaghetti! Very delicious and not too rich! It came with a side crunchy kale salad with a few thin slices of prosciutto. Portions are small and a bit pricey with no complimentary table bread to accompany the pasta. I definitely was still hungry for the $30 lunch! We were celebrating 2 birthdays with only 1 person ordering a dessert that came with a candle. The other birthday person received a lonely candle on a small dish!! It was cute and funny at first but now that I think about it, it was rude and tasteless!! Definitely will celebrate birthdays elsewhere! 3% service charge too!

We both heard so many great reviews of their homemade pasta. We were greeted at the door by the friendly hostess and she said to have a seat anywhere. We sat at a table for 4. We loved the spaciousness. We really appreciated that they have such convenient portable bag rests that they place on the floor next to the table to hold your purse or packages. This was the first time I saw that in a restaurant and was immediately impressed. We put in our orders and we were served a spinach salad that came with our lunch order. We also looked at their dinner menu and ordered the Garlic Bread. I ordered the Carbonara and my friend ordered the Garlic Shrimp Tomato Cream. You can immediately taste the difference with fresh pasta; it's tender, slightly chewy, and perfectly holds onto the sauce. The carbonara sauce was silky and glossy, coating every strand without feeling heavy. The guanciale was flavorful, adding just the right amount of saltiness, and the Pecorino gave it that sharp, savory kick. The black pepper tied everything together beautifully. It was rich but balanced and comforting. You can tell care went into every step of the dish. I ate the entire plate. It was fun breaking the yolk into my pasta. My friend enjoyed her Garlic Shrimp Tomato Cream Tomato Pasta and she said it was so good. The homemade pasta was tender and fresh, and the sauce was creamy, garlicky, and perfectly balanced with a touch of tomato brightness. The shrimp were juicy and flavorful. She also ate the whole thing. The garlic bread was nice and warm and paired well with our pasta dishes. We really enjoyed the homemade pasta. The fresh pasta was tender, soft, and slightly chewy. Unlike dried pasta, it had a delicate bite and it absorbed our sauces beautifully. If you want to experience real homemade pasta with their flavorful sauces, Cucina Moon is the restaurant to experience. We will definitely be back. I will try the Squid Ink Pasta next.

What that means is it feels more like a planned restaurant. The kitchen is open at the back, so you can see all the food being made. They have various size tables and bar seating around the kitchen. We ordered our food to go, which was a little frustrating as all items weren't on the online menu. A few things, like bread and salad, I had to order at the host stand, which added to our wait time as the pasta dishes were ready. The staff was super helpful and welcoming however, offering water and seats while I waited. I tried the spaghetti bolognese and loved it; it was a garlic bomb with great flavor and noticeable portion of meat. The salad was delicious, fresh and bright and simple dressing. The garlic bread was soft and great for dipping. Overall, this is a fun place to come. You may have a better experience dining in; and must love garlic!
