I was craving sushi and wanted to try somewhere new so I end up here with my husband over the weekend to try it out. We were immediately greeted the moment we entered and was seated to our table since we wanted sushi but if it was hibachi, then it seems like there is a wait. That side of the restaurant was pretty busy. The staff are friendly and nice. I started out with the miso soup which had the right balance of flavor. Most places I've been too had always been either a bit salty or did not have much tofu/seaweed in it plus it was a good portion..bigger than most places. Already a good start. Next was the seafood salad...(not knowing what was in it). The dish was very tasty and good. It was mostly seafood with a light creamy dressing. My husband and I was able to identify most seafood...like crab, possibly clam strips and lobster? Then we went for the sushi boat. Apparently my husband thinks we can woof down 42 pieces of sushi and sashimi. Somehow we manage to stuff our face and ATE ALL OF IT. The fishes were very fresh...I mean the tuna and salmon was so soft. And to top it off, it must have been the owner's good day or it could be that he thought it was funny that 2 people can eat what we order because he came over and gave us a dish on the house!! It was tuna sushi with some tobiko and this sauce that has been torch slightly. It was soo good. This place earned 5 stars. read more

Just ordered a take out order, teriyaki chicken entree and teriyaki shrimp entree. Shrimp was good, however chicken was completely raw we couldn't eat it. Overall food there is good but make sure they don't serve you raw food! read more

Hands down my favorite place for sushi! You wouldn't know it by it's location (a strip-mall in Walpole), but the sushi in this place could hang with any place in Boston. My suggestion is to try the Mama Nori, or Red Dragon Maki. Also has hibachi grill which is fun for groups. read more

The service is absolutely terrible - haven't had service this bad in a long-long time: - The waitress took her time to come by, then barely listened to us as we were ordering - I was hoping they would be flexible with a lunch-size portion for my son, but she wouldn't budge and was absolutely rude about it without even trying to understand what I was asking for (as a result we spent $7 less on his dinner than we otherwise would have, so her loss again) - Didn't bring utensils and only brought two (not 3) soy sauce dishes and was moving way too fast to hear me asking for those things - Didn't come by after bringing the food until she brought the check (without asking if we wanted anything else) The sushi is not bad, and perhaps even somewhat creative, but when you have to stick it out with service this bad? no thanks - will go somewhere else next time. read more

This is my review of Ginjo that I posted last year on Trip Advisor. My sentiments remain the same a year later. The amazing thing is that I have lived, worked and had Hibashi & Sushi all around the world - from Japan, Hong Kong, London, to LA and the best Hibashi Grill is, out of all the places, just here at my door step in Walpole, MA, USA !!! The proof of the pudding is that my brother flew from London to visit me a few weeks ago (he is a real food connoisseur). I told him we were going to a Hibashi Grill for lunch and the first thing he states is that nothing here could ever match anything in London, what the hell do Yanks know about food? "Wait till you get back home and I will take to you to a great Hibashi Grill". Well the experience at Gingo's made him eat his word's. Not only was the food absolutely scrumptious and out of this world but the Chef's were the most entertaining and skillful he had ever experienced !!! It makes the whole "sitting around the grill" experience so much fun, especially if you dine out as a family with young kid's - my kid's dont want to go anywhere else now. Gingo's is ideal for any sort of scene - from business to family to romance - I know as I have used it for occassion. My wife who loves sushi will only have cooked sushi and the Sushi master is accommodating to prepare and meet all demands set forward by the toughest client !!! My wife and I tried Ginjo for the first time for dinner. The sushi was of the quality that you would find at any run of the mill sushi place; not amazing and certainly not bad. One minor issue was that they did not have brown rice as an option. The reason for the poor review is the Godzilla Maki. This roll is considered a special roll and its price is $10.50. When one orders a more expensive roll, the expectation is that there will be significantly more fish than in a standard $5 roll. The Godzilla Maki is listed as: "tempura-style roll w. salmon, tuna, roe, avocado & cucumber." The amount of non-rice ingredients in these 5 pieces (as opposed to the 6 pieces in the cheap rolls) is significantly less than in all of the cheaper rolls. We were so surprised and disappointed with the roll that we asked if there had been a mistake. They checked and confirmed it was the Godzilla Maki and that all of the ingredients were present. The roll was extremely over-sized as it contained far more rice than the other rolls. If you love rice in your sushi and don't care how little fish is present, then you might love the Godzilla Maki. However, I highly doubt anyone ordering something called a Godzilla Maki is hoping for such a ridiculous rice to fish ratio. read more

Ordered from here for a work event and was not disappointed. We got the pork fried rice, sesame chicken, pot stickers and the scallion pancakes. The rice had a very clean taste to it and was some of the best fried rice I have had from ANY restaurant. The sesame chicken was all white meat and nice fat portions in a very delicious sauce. We order take out sushi and chinese food from Ginjo at least once per month. I find that the fried items are not as heavy as some other Chinese food places that I have tried. Their sushi is great and I like having the option to order hibachi if the mood strikes me. We enjoy the scallop maki and crazy maki as well as the scallion pancakes and peking ravioli. They deliver within a certain radius and our food always arrives hot and the orders are complete. I highly recommend Ginjo! read more

Good food but it was better before the old lady crashed her car through the front of the restaurant. Ever since the accident, the food has only been pretty good whereas it used to be unbelievable. Also, they must be tight on cash because the restaurant is always hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Really skimping on the temperature controls. read more

I'm really happy that I found this place. I had a great time here tonight, amazing food and great service. My boyfriend said the crab Rangoon is the best he's ever had. My christmas roll (tempura shrimp topped with tuna and avocado) was absolutely delicious and filling. Matt got the volcano roll and the bamboo roll and loved both. Love this place! The decor is really nice. Ginjo is a great dine-in or take out place. I love the Udon noodles as well as the Bento Box lunches. The sushi is always very fresh and is complemented well with a miso soup! An extra bonus is that you can still order off the Chinese Menu for people who don't like Japanese (Who would like Japanese). Yummy! My husband thinks their sushi is top notch (I don't eat sushi so I cannot say), as good as anything you would find in a top Boston sushi restaurant, and I love the hibachi. This is my favorite sushi restaurant south of the city. I'm very particular about sushi and this place is consistently good. Paul, the sushi chef, has a very creative menu including my favorite roll the Mame nori roll with tuna, salmon and mango rolled in soy paper and the nacho cup appetizer that is tuna and salmon tossed Ina delicious sauce and served in a tositios nacho. It sounds weird but it's delicious. I'd definitely recommend going when Paul works. He is off Monday's and when he isn't working the quality takes a little hit. You won't be disappointed. The food is great here especially the sushi...usually. I ordered the party boat #1 expecting quite a bit of food. (It was advertised as 40 something pieces) I wanted to surprise my boyfriend for our anniversary, but what I got was one roll of sushi and several pieces of fish cuts. My boyfriend will not eat this. I'm very disappointed because for the $55 it cost I could have gotten him like 5 rolls of sushi I know he likes. This is my go to sushi restaurant. There are so many bad sushi places out there and Ginjo in Walpole is a hidden gem. The mamanoi roll is the best. Its off the menu so you have to ask for it. It has salmon, tuna, mango, and crunschies in a soy paper wrap with eel sauce. This place is better than most of the Boston sushi places and costs much less. My family was craving sushi and tempura so we ordered takeout from Ginjo. Used the online service Foodler to order. This was fast and efficient and provided me with an accurate pick up time: I walked in, gave my name, was handed my bags and (because I pre-paid online) I was on my way in under a minute! My kids shared a maki combo consisting of spicy tuna, spring and Alaskan maki (6 pieces each). I had chicken and vegetable tempura. Both meals came with miso soup and salad. While the starters were small-ish, the soup was adequate and the salad was crispy and fresh with a nice ginger dressing. I like the tempura breading and the portions were generous (I have enough left for lunch). My kids scoffed down all 18 pieces of sushi so I'm assuming they're fans. It's nice to know there is a place in town to get fresh, quality Japanese food! read more

Ginjo is wonderful place to eat and we only had sushi! This was our third time visiting and identical to our last two visits, it didn't disappoint!! I wish we weren't so hungry upon arrival every time so I'd have remembered to take photos! My husband and I enjoyed our rolls and the quiet dining atmosphere. Spicy flavor isn't my favorite and they were able to accommodate my rolls to my preference. So far we have thoroughly enjoyed the Torched Maki, Volcano Maki, Godzilla Maki, Saku Saku, Walpole Maki, And B-52 Maki. The presentation is beautiful, service on point, and food nice and fresh. AND We think the prices are reasonable. If you're in the mood for a tasty Makimono (sushi roll) stop in and place your order! We did not sit on the hibachi side of the restaurant or order any Chinese but plan to do so in the near future. This restaurant has been great to eat from. They deliver sushi and the quality is still really good. While eating there my friends and I got a sushi boat. This was great, filled with a great variety of sushi. Then, since they felt like it, they sent over a special treat. It was a few pieces of sushi that were so exquisitely done it was wonderful. We tried this place twice, and from the amount of great reviews we thought it would be fairly decent. We were completely disappointed. I'm not sure if this place used to be better, but anyone who says this sushi is equal to Boston restaurants is out of their mind. The rolls are way too big with way too much rice and heavy mayonnaise sauce on everything. Ordered torched tuna, it came torched salmon. Godzilla Maki was all rice very light on the fish, which was very unusual texture for sushi. The service was curt and not very friendly. The basil fried rice is actually the only thing on the menu worth ordering. We will never go back to this restaurant, what a waste of money. read more

Visited on a Thursday evening and the hibachi section was empty. The first issue was how cold the room was - maybe 60. Definitely too cold to be comfortable but it was freezing outside so we stayed. The staff was friendly and we received our soup and salad together. I wasn't too pleased with the taste of the soup and there was way too much dressing on the salad. The chef came and did a good job of preparing the steak and shrimp dinners we ordered. He put on a decent show but I personally found the shrimp to be overcooked and my pepper steak to be on the bland side. I just didn't feel the sauces were very flavorful. Since most of the reviews talk about the sushi, maybe that is their strong suit. That portion of the restaurant was very busy. I doubt I will try their hibachi table dinner again. read more

I live in Walpole and I got a delivery of 19 dollars worth of food. I only had 2 $20 bills, so I gave the delivery guy the 2 $20 = 40 and has soon as I gave it to him looking for my change and he ran off . Had to yell at him to come back to get my change. ( he thought I was giving him 20 dollar tip ....) and he came back I said I want my change. I told him "You can keep 5 dollars for yourself ".
