I got the Christmas maki, and it was not good at all. Bland flavor, just tasted like rice and cream cheese. I got take out so I can't speak to the service. But I would not recommend it based on the taste of the food. read more

This place has always been great for me as far as delivery! Love the Naruto, Gingo maki, scallop Maki, panfried noodles, avacado salad. All delicious! read more

5 Stars for Walpole! After reading mixed reviews on this place, I wasn't sure what to expect. Came here on a weeknight and it was empty, but I didn't mind. There are a few TV's in there and one was set to the Travel Channel. Extra star just for that. Started with Miso soup and Edamame. Both delicious. Then onto the sushi... there is not a HUGE selection of items without shellfish. I know I'm always writing about this, but its a real issue. However, the items that we picked were fresh and delicious. The two things that stood out the most were the Yellowtail sashimi. Usually, its sliced thinly and is slightly tougher than say tuna or salmon. But this was amazing. It was a nice thick piece that just melted in your mouth. Perfectly buttery and virtually fat free. The white tuna sashimi - same quality. The second thing that blew my mind was the Angel Maki. It really wasn't as spicy as advertised, but it is damn good. Its a very creative version of a rainbow roll and I absolutely love it. The service was excellent, we were never waiting on drinks or much of anything. I'll most definitely be back here. read more

Ginjo Restaurant - Sashimi and angel maki - Japanese Near Me - Walpole, Massachusetts

This place has become our absolute favorite restaurant. We now go there at least once a week. The miso soup has been consistently amazing for the last few months. Can I just say TORCHED TUNA sushi?!!!! Phenomenal. Whether it's white tuna or regular tuna, my husband and I can't get enough. We also really like the angel maki. Some of my friends that have been there have also really enjoyed their meals! I love the sushi so much, that I haven't gotten around to doing the hibachi grill, but people always look like they are having a lot of fun. read more

We ordered spider maki, scallop maki, volcano maki, and a couple of more. It would have been okay except for the fact that it was drenched it eel sauce -EVERYTHING! Practically inedible because of it. We also came on the hottest day of the year so far (93 degrees) and the AC was subpar (or they were too cheap to turn it up) so it was extremely hot and humid inside and because of it, there was a stench of b.o. Staff was also inattentive - took over 15 mins to take our order, over 30 mins to get our food (somewhat understandable since there was only 1 sushi chef), and we had to flag our server down twice in order to get the bill. Overall: crappy food + crappy service = crappy place. read more

When I order sushi I generally assume that the "spicy" ___ will be pretty mild, but not here. That made me excited, I love spicy things and I love sushi. Now, with that said, my recommendation is the screaming maki. It is amazing. It's got a good amount of spicy and the flavor can't be beat. Truly my favorite at this point in time. The atmosphere was nice, we went later at night on weekday and I noticed there were teppanyaki grills on the left side of the restaurant but since we were there for sushi we got a table, though we may have to return to see them in action. The lighting is soft, pretty quiet, nothing to make it stand out from other places that we've been but nice nonetheless. Our service was great, the waitress was nice and everyone seemed very friendly, and the coolest thing was that she brought us trainer chopsticks since we fail at using the real kind (practicing though!). The waitress did give me diet coke instead of regular but it's okay, I was speaking pretty softly and I think she thought I wanted to get what my fiancee got. Overall we had a great experience here and will be returning (probably several times and very soon to feed my fiancee's sushi addiction). read more

I am from New York and love sushi. Once you eat at Nobu, it's very hard to find sushi to even compare. But anyway, was in Walpole. My girlfriend was skeptical but we tried this little Japanese Restaurant in town. It's a hibachi/sushi restaurant.. We were pleasantly surprised. I would say above average. The staff was very friendly. People seemed to be having a good time at the hibachi tables. We ate sushi. I had the Avocado Salad and they added salmon sashimi in it for me. It was very good. Then had the chilean sea bass. It was ok. It seemed like they boiled it and added sauce on top. I feel they should have sauteed it in the sauce. Fish was cooked perfectly, just a little bland. The Tuna Sashimi was delicious and fresh. The Volcano Roll was the best roll I had there. Also had the spicy tuna and Philly Roll. Very Good Also. We had 3 Glasses of Wine and 2 miso soups as well, The bill came to about 100 bucks. Sushi is limited in the area so we will definitely be back when have a craving. read more

If you like sushi and you are in the area, Ginjo is a must. I even have friends that live in Boston and drive all the way out to Walpole just to get sushi at this place. It's always fresh and delicious, and the staff is always kind and helpful. PS. If you're a 90s pop fan, it's bound to be playing in this place.. read more

Had a Groupon for Ginjo, so my husband and I went there for dinner on a week night. For a weeknight, the service was really slow. There was only 1 or 2 wait-staff, and she seemed very flustered. We ordered drinks and they were pretty good. I had ordered a bento dinner box, my hubby got the usual general gaos and we shared an order of Angel maki. Food took a little while to get out, and the sushi chef forgot about the California roll that comes with the Bento. At the end of the meal, the sushi chef wrapped the cali roll up so we can take it to go, and apologized for that. We thought it was very nice of them. However, it is sad to say, that place like GInjo is a dime a dozen around where I live. It is hard for me to keep going back if there is nothing impressive about it. Food was decent, service was a bit slow (for a week night) but everything about this place was ok. read more

The BEST sushi in the area. Staff are wonderful and so pleasant. They have cheaper sushi options if you aren't willing to go all out, and they have a killer Mai Tai. read more

Pros: Sushi is awesome. Crab rangoon is great. Wonton soup is delicious. Service is fast, unless they have a once in a lifetime busy night. They always have living social deals. Cons: Poor meat quality. I like real white meat chicken in my food. I am not sure that I will go back there unless I try hibatchi. read more

Solid food. We came with the groupon and noticed a lot of people did too. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. Everything was solid from sushi to noodle dishes and fried rice. Nothing stood out as awesome but this area has such limited options that we will come back. If you are coming in from the city I think there are more unique options for food in the area so I would not make a special trip but for the area, this is a great find. read more

Ate here around 3pm on 4/5/13. We were the only ones in here! IDK, but the food is superb! I ordered the Salmon and I might add that it has to be the BEST or one of THE best Salmon plates I have ever ordered. Very flavorful, juicy and sides of fresh veggys. Service was great and prices are very reasonable. Overall: A read more

I met a friend at Ginjo on Saturday night around 7pm. We ordered drinks and a round of appetizers almost immediately. Both the drinks and the appetizers were quickly delivered to our table. The rose tuna was awesome! One of my favorite sushi rolls of all time. We also had some unagi and hamachi. Both were excellent. The waitress returned to take the rest of our order, but didn't seem to notice that our drinks were empty. We got her attention for another round, but this was the story of the night. It seems once food is ordered, you better hope you don't need something else. Our food was excellent. The pad Thai was great. When we were finished with our food, a different waitress packed our leftovers and gave us our check. It was an odd service situation. The food is fantastic. The service needs to improve. Waitresses all seem to hang out together and not pay much attention to the customers. Refills on drinks are a challenge - even when drinking expensive saki. read more

I ordered the chicken teriyaki entre, it came with miso soup, salad, and white rice with steamed vegetable. To start off, each plate was 18$ whether or not you wanted all of the included items. The chicken was literally boiled, and tasteless. There were slimy pieces in the middle causing me to question if it was done. The teriyaki sauce was the same consistency as the miso soup, and was extremely bland. The sauce soaked the plate and drowned the rice with how soupy it was. The vegetables and white rice were the best parts of the meal. To have paid 40$ this meal was definitely not worth it, Sarku Japan is 100x better than this. I will never again. read more

Great fresh sushi. Came late in the afternoon and place was empty, so we weren't expecting much, but we were hungry for some sushi rolls. Ordered the Angel, Saku Saku and Volcano. All three were great. Would definitely come by again if I'm in the area. read more

Your best bet is the sushi. They have great custom rolls. I have found that the food is not as good as the sushi. The chicken Katsu was a little bland. The hibachi is good; not great. Service is good. read more

I ordered some sashimi and sushi, and I ate a few of my girlfriend's shumai. The shumai were lovely. The shrimp flavor really came out. The sashimi was nice and fresh - especially the salmon. The eel was cooked very nicely as well. My girlfriend was disappointed that they didn't have any dishes featuring snow crab, but that was really our only complaint. The service was terrific, but we were the only ones in there (late lunch), so no idea what its like when they're busy. The server was very friendly and nice. Would definitely recommend this place for tasty bite in Walpole. read more

We went to this place last night for our anniversary and used a $40 Groupon from a couple of months ago. As another one of my reviews stated: I am a huge fan of Wanokura in Milford (where I used to live) and had yet to find a truly acceptable alternative in the Norwood area. There are some decent places, but nothing great. Ginjo is the real deal. My wife and I split a few rolls (Alaskan, Screaming, Volcano), as well as 2 appetizers (Beef Negimaki and Steamed Shrimp Shumai). Everything was excellent, and I can't wait to go back and try some of the simpler rolls as well as the nigiri and sashimi. I'm very excited to have finally found what may be my go to sushi place. Highly recommended! read more

Very nice place! Super delicious sushi! Angel roll is now my favorite! Mame Nori roll was also good and a little spicy! Great service! Definitely will come back! read more

Great, fresh food. Delivery is always on time. Steak and chicken are delicious. Sushi is very good as well.

I ordered lunch for 10 yesterday, we had 6 different luncheon specials and everything was delicious. It was ready within 20 minutes, they did not skimp on condiments or fortune cookies. Will definately be back! read more

When we discovered that our go-to Chinese food delivery was closed right now, and we were initially upset. But let me tell you- it's the best thing that ever happened. We tried Ginjo for the first time tonight and loved it! The dumplings are HUGE and flavorful. The taste of ginger is so fresh. The pork fried rice has huge chunks of meat and the Chinese entrees have a nice light saucy taste. Absolutely delicious! read more

Delicious sushi, fabulous quality and customer service. Definitely a great sushi restaurant in the Walpole/Norwood area.

My wife and I are big sashimi fans and have very discerning palates. We were VERY pleased with the sashimi we had there today for lunch and will definitely go back. Delicious! Much better than other places in this area. read more

Maybe I should have tried their sushi. But the Chinese food was really bad. Chicken was not cooked properly.

Haven't been to Ginjo in over a year. I had the Pork Katsu lunch bento box. The pork was rather dry and tough. The quality of the cooking seems to have gone downhill. I was rather disappointed. I'll try it again in a year. Hopefully, it will improve. read more

Sushi was decent, drinks were good but there was a very long wait for hibachi on a Friday night with only two tables being open, once seated for hibachi we realized there was no heat in the hibachi room so jackets stayed on and we were not given menus, once given menus we were immediately rushed to order since there was two other people at the table with us that had been given their menus on time. The presentation was substandard for hibachi, low energy, and no sake was sprayed into my mouth which would have immediately earned them another star. In the end the hibachi was too salty and the chicken did not taste right. Charged 9 extra dollars for noodles and some rice instead of just one. This place needs to up their game. read more

I was able to visit this place a few days ago. Freshest sushi I have had in forever!! Huge pieces, def couldn't finish!! (To go!!)

We have had takeout from this place twice and both times it is been hot, delicious and amazing! My favorite is the Peking Ravioli and the Yaki noodles with chicken. My husband loves any of there dishes made with steak. My daughter is gaga over the sweet and sour chicken!!! They are a little overpriced but if we have a hankering for chinese this is where we grab some. read more

I ordered for home delivery. It came right on time as promised and exactly as requested. I ordered egg rolls, Ginjo friend rice and Kung Pao Beef (I requested a substitution for the chicken order). The kung pao beef and egg rolls were delicious and absolutely worth ordering again; however, the fried rice was a little bit tasteless for my liking. The other two dishes were so good that I consider this an anomally. They get 4 stars because they were generous in providing high quality ingredients in a timely manner and above average dishes overall. read more

Never had a poor experience. Food is always great. Some of the best Sushi you'll find around here!

Tried to go to this restaurant at 9:20pm only to be told they wouldn't seat me and my fiancé because they close at 10pm. Ridiculously poor service for a restaurant that according to other reviews seems to have good food. Unacceptable. read more

Nice go-to sushi place that's local. It's a little pricy for a quick take out dinner but it's high quality sushi and quick service.

I was craving sushi and wanted to try somewhere new so I end up here with my husband over the weekend to try it out. We were immediately greeted the moment we entered and was seated to our table since we wanted sushi but if it was hibachi, then it seems like there is a wait. That side of the restaurant was pretty busy. The staff are friendly and nice. I started out with the miso soup which had the right balance of flavor. Most places I've been too had always been either a bit salty or did not have much tofu/seaweed in it plus it was a good portion..bigger than most places. Already a good start. Next was the seafood salad...(not knowing what was in it). The dish was very tasty and good. It was mostly seafood with a light creamy dressing. My husband and I was able to identify most seafood...like crab, possibly clam strips and lobster? Then we went for the sushi boat. Apparently my husband thinks we can woof down 42 pieces of sushi and sashimi. Somehow we manage to stuff our face and ATE ALL OF IT. The fishes were very fresh...I mean the tuna and salmon was so soft. And to top it off, it must have been the owner's good day or it could be that he thought it was funny that 2 people can eat what we order because he came over and gave us a dish on the house!! It was tuna sushi with some tobiko and this sauce that has been torch slightly. It was soo good. This place earned 5 stars. read more
