Pretty good Chinese food at reasonable prices. Very nice employees. Both take out and sit down service. Clean restaurant. Singapore rice noodles were good. A bit too many onions. Sesame chicken very good. Mongolian beef was mainly an onion dish with some beef. Not recommended unless you totally love onions a lot and don't care that you'll get a small amount of very dry beef with it. The onions tasted good however some many onions is not we had expected to get. Coconut curry vegetables were excellent. Overall the food was a 3 1/2 however I'm rating them a 4 due to their wonderful employees. read more

I ordered the orange chicken combination dinner with chowmein , fried rice, spicy soup, eggroll, and crab puff. The spicy soup was probably the best part, but very small. The chicken was pretty good too, but not as amazing as the reviews had me hoping it would be. The eggroll and crab puff were also good. Unfortunately the chowmein was just "okay" for me (and I LOVE chowmein) and the rice was not good at all. I was not expecting it to be yellow or for it to have onions (white onions, not even green onions). I've never had rice come with white onions before. If I would have known, I would have just asked for chowmein. That is the main deal breaker for me and the main reason I wouldn't come back. Just not my style. It also didn't come with fruit or a cookie (which is fine), I would just recommend not advertising it as such or double checking the orders when they go out. I also ordered to go. It was ready fairly quick...about 15 mins. One girl was super nice and friendly, the other girl came off as kind of rude to me. She had a lot going on and was trying to multitask, but still. Not a good first impression. It's probably overall deserving of a three, but I personally give it a two just because it's not a place I'd go back to. If they made regular fried rice I'd reconsider, but that's just me. read more

After one try of their take out, I think this place is mediocre at best. They were timely, got the order 100% correct, and although the lady on the phone had a very thick accent, she communicated very efficiently and clearly which was impressive. The white rice was probably the best part. The chow mein was alright, but that seems pretty hard to mess up. I got the green bean chicken which just wasn't very flavorful, and the egg rolls were... unimpressive. I probably won't give it another go. read more

This place is really reasonably priced. There is a sign that says they have $5.25 lunch specials but I haven't asked about them. I always just go with the $7.50 special and those have been really good. I like the crab thing that comes with the broccoli beef. Ate here years ago but couldn't remember anything about it. Never came back because I live at the other end of Chico and I like to dine close to home. After leaving Cinemark around 7:30pm on a Friday we figured "what the hell, it's been a long time since we ate here". The place is clean, well furnished (sometimes places have crappy seats and tables) good lighting and friendly servers. The food was very flavorful and enough left for take home. How to tell if an Asian restaurant is good: 1. Not as sanitary as non-Asian restaurants 2. They have menus exclusively for Asians (preferably Chinese) 3. If you speak Mandarin to them, you get special treatment in how your food is made They met all three, even though my Mandarin sounds like iron nails on a chalkboard and speed is as slow as melting butter going down a grassy hill. This is the best in town. We haven't been able to find a good Chinese food restaurant where we currently live so when we come into, we try to stop here. Lunch is cheap. It is only $6.25 for orange chicken with hot and sour soup, fried rice, a egg roll, and fruit. They give you big portions and you will leave filled. Really disappointed. This restaurant came highly recommended to me by locals who raved about the fresh, delicious authentic Asian cuisine and outstanding customer service. I ordered Chow Fun with broccoli and beef, spring rolls and potstickers. Including tip which was paid directly to the restaurant before delivery, I paid 55.00 It was inedible. The noodles were swimming in a greasy sauce, the broccoli was yellow, overcooked and the noodles were so overcooked, they fell apart. I couldn't even eat it. My dog, normally very interested in whatever I'm eating, high-tailed it out of the room. The potstickers and spring rolls were likely cooked in old oil because they were burnt and again, swimming in grease. I reached out and left a message for them telling them I'd like to give them a chance, but my order was so bad, it was inedible. No one ever called back. I want to support local restaurants, but geez Louise, make me wait longer for properly prepared food I'll enjoy, don't slap together and box up something for me to buy to feed my garbage can. read more

Ginger's is probably one of my most frequented restaurants in Chico. Their chicken chow mein is probably the best chow mein I have ever had. Prices are affordable, the food is delicious and the staff is so kind. I really appreciate how quickly my orders are ready and I can call right before I leave the house to pick up. My favorite thing about Ginger's is that they deliver to the Chico Taproom that is in the same complex and makes it a breeze to support two local businesses in one night. I am sure that they have some good dishes, but I was not impressed with the two that I ordered. Please note that the Ma Po Tofu, we should contain Szechuan peppercorns, absolutely did not so I really can't count as anything but spicy tofu-- not the delightfully mouth-numbering sensationof Szechuan peppercorns. Also, they're hot and sour soup is a little heavy on the white pepper, which gives it the certain "back of the horse" flavor. The potstickers, however, we're passable if not a bit spongy. read more

We thought we would give it another try, well $85 later most of it went in the trash. I will not go back. The egg fu young had the constancy of cat food, Lemon chicken was soggy, the walnut shrimp was breaded and very little sauce. It seemed everything was premade then they thru whatever flavor sauce on it. I would have been better off at Panda express and a lot cheaper. Save your money read more

My mistake in coming here. I ordered Tofu with Broccoli. Not only did I have to pay extra for the steamed rice, I paid an extra $2 for water chestnuts, of which they added like 3 to the meal. There were also 4 pieces of broccoli in the whole entree and the sauce was not vegetarian. (I wish more Chinese restaurants were conscious of this, having a vegetable dish but then the sauce is made with hella beef broth??) It was so bad I only ate half of it but it still made me sick all night and I woke up with intestinal distress and early morning trips to the bathroom. I will NEVER go here again. read more

Ginger's is my favorite Chinese place in town. Portions are big, service is friendly and fast. The prices are mid-range compared to other Chinese restaurants in town. I first came for the salt & pepper prawns (no longer on the menu, but they take requests) which are amazing! I really like their chow mein (not too greasy, full of meat & veggies) and won-ton soup (lots of veggies and won-tons). I hadn't been to Ginger's in months, I was craving pot-stickers and Gingers had the best. Having gone now, I can't find a reason to ever go back. I dropped in and ordered sweet and sour chicken, walnut prawns, spring rolls, and pot stickers. While waiting for my order I look around the place - it's dirty. The carpet is thread bare, there is dust on the fake plants that still have Christmas decorations on them, there are cobwebs on the ceiling beams, clearly leaks in the ceiling, and a bunch of items in a corner behind a screen that look broken, or seasonal. If this is the condition of dinning area, how does the kitchen look? Got my order in a reasonable amount of time - got it home... The sweet and sour chicken - while eatable - is in little slivers of chicken - the pineapple pieces were bigger than any chicken part - not totally convinced it was chicken, what bits there were had an odd texture, and certainly there was nothing to taste except the sauce. The walnut prawns are the oddest shape - like tear drops - every single one of them in this same shape - just not very appealing. The spring rolls were all wrapper, no filling. The pot-stickers looked okay on the outside, but were under-cooked on the inside - gross. The whole reason I picked Gingers was they had fantastic pot-stickers, and they were such a let down. read more

Ginger's has an awesome staff who friendly, efficient, and quick. Went the take-out route and ordered while I was there-couldn't find a menu online. While I was there they provided a great atmosphere and cordially offered water as you wait for your food. The food that I ordered overall was tasty and I will return. Main qualm--the spicy food needs more spice to bring out the flavor of the dishes-- I ordered the General Chicken and the Prawns Lover dish. Needs a little more fire. I do have to give credit to the Hot and Sour soup-delicious and provides levels of flavor creating a mouth tingly experience . The pot-stickers are not greasy either and have a great texture! I am curious as to the other items on the menu. Next time I am checking out the Pineapple Chicken or the Honey Walnut Prawns-try out the sweeter side of the menu. read more

I know this is bold but I'm going to say it, Ginger's is the best Chinese food I've ever had. Nothing in San Francisco that I've had is even comparable (but if you have some suggestions please tell me). I've spent a good amount of time in China too...still didn't find anything as good as this (well as far as your standard "Chinese food" type choices go, don't get me wrong there is amazing food in China but it's not the same kind of thing). I'm not really sure why it's listed in the romantic choices section. There's nothing romantic about this place. But it's still worth taking a date just to impress them with good food. And to top it off it's cheap and there are always leftovers. What more could you want? It definitely makes a trip up to Chico so much more worth it (that and Hula's!) read more

And...the mixed vegetable dish was the blandest I've ever eaten in perhaps 200 Chinese restaurants I've eaten. And...no one came by after serving the food to check in with us. And...no offer was made to box up our leftovers, from one of the very few times I did not want to finish my meal at a Chinese restaurant. Note to owner: try playing traditional Chinese music. I came in here just looking for a decent fast Chinese lunch stop. What I found was an astounding orange chicken. This chicken had good pieces of Orange rind and chilis, well breaded and perfectly saucy! Combine this with a plate of pork fired rice that was well seasoned and not too oily. The service was first rate and prompt. And to top it all off was that I got a good fortune. I don't know what the negative reviews expected I got generous portions and great service. I was lured to this place because of the 4.95 lunch specials. Unfortunately, there was nothing I liked on the menu that was considered a lunch special. No big! I ordered the Mongolian Beef, Pot Stickers and a Dr Pepper. First, lets start off with the drink. They bring you a glass of ice and a can. I assume that if you want refills you have to pay for another can of soda. This is just my assumption since I didn't ask and I wasn't offered another refill. The only refill I got was for my water. If I would have know refills were limited for the soda, I would have saved myself the overcharge for the can of soda and just drank water. I asked the waitress if it was possible to get no vegetables for my mongolian beef. I've made this request at other Chinese places without a problem. She kind of beat around the bush and said that it didn't really come with a lot of vegetables. Just a couple of onions and peppers. Alright, I could tolerate picking those out! The pot stickers were supposed to be an appetizer but came out nearly the same time the course did. They were pretty delicious though! Probably some of the best pot stickers I've ever tasted, so props for that! My food was an extreme disappointment though. It was a heaping mound of onions and peppers. I dug around with my fork, asking myself that annoying tag-line, "Where is the beef?" I think there were maybe 10 small pieces of beef in the entree. The rest was just vegetables. Tonight we tried to order takeout to feed a family of 5 their company took $51 out of my account then proceeded to tell me that it was declined then tried to run another $7 from my account once again trying to tell me that it was declined I was forced to call my company and get the proof print it out and bring it to them to show that their company took my money and did not provide the food that I had paid for apparently to top that off they tried to blame my bank even though I had to print out with their name on it showing that they took it they tried to blame somebody else and blatantly lied and said it was not them I will never be going back to them based off of the fact that as far as I am concerned and I'm sure many more that read this will be concerned they attempted to steal from me and didn't quite know how the credit card systems work if I could give lower than 1 star I would read more
