I went to Ginger Sue's today and ordered plain pancakes. Never in my life have I returned food. Ever. Today I tried to return the pancakes for another type as these were incredibly flavorless. I understand sometimes you take a risk ordering food but you expect a pancake to taste like a pancake. The waitress was sympathetic but the manager simply said "you ordered plain." The manager refused to make my order right and then offered to box up the flavorless pancakes. I am a pregnant woman who is constantly craving pancakes and there was absolutely NO chance that I would eat these. No, I do not want to box flavorless pancakes. It would have taken 0 effort to fix my experience and honestly how much would it have cost the restaurant? $0.25? Should have just gone to First Watch. Their plain pancakes are divine! read more

Bisquits were the bomb 5 stars for them and the potatoes were on point. The spicy crepe wasnt spicy at all, no real flavor in it. I know the sausage was supposed to be spicy but it wasnt. Overall it was solid, service was ok could have been better. Wished my main dish would have been better it got overshadowed by the biscuits and potatoes. read more

My family was in town visiting over the weekend and what better way to enjoy the morning than with some good ol' fashion breakfast at a new place. Let me tell you....this place was so wonderful and our waitress was aw-mazing. We loved Amy as she was great with all of her positive energy and overall wonderful personality. She sold us on their bacon even though it sells itself when you put it in your mouth. Minus the part where my brother ate the entire scoop of butter at once because he thought it was part of his scrambled eggs and then proceeded to spit it out onto his chocolate chip pancake...this place was a perfect find! Hot butter and pass the biscuits! This breakfast place is yummy. I really don't eat meat that often (once a month) but I have to get the bacon here, no exceptions. It's seriously unbelievable. That's coming from a person that was a vegan for 4 years. The biscuits are also very yummy. I get the Ginger Classic scrambled with potatoes, bacon (4 pieces) and a biscuit. I cut my biscuit in half, put a little butter, put my eggs on it with a piece of bacon. Not that's a breakfast sandwich. Then, I eat a few potatoes and leave feeling a little guilty for the extra bacon pieces I couldn't resist, but oh so happy for a home cooked breakfast at a reasonable price from a local eatery. Side note: coffee and service are always good too and my husband frequently enjoys the Grilled Chicken Scramble add avocado. We have eaten at all 3 of their locations: Liberty, Lee's Summit and Olathe and had a comparable positive experience. read more

WORST BREAKFAST EVER! Service was slow. NO gluten free options. I have an allergy - not doing the fad diet. When I asked waitress about gluten free options as there were none on the menu, she told me the eggs and vegetables were gluten free. UH, yeah, no kidding. Paid $2.25 for the tiniest cup of coffee in the world. Server finally asked me if I'd like a refill when I was nearly finished with my meal. Then never returned with my 2nd cup of coffee. She literally disappeared for at least 15 minutes and no other server would assist in getting a cup of coffee!!! AWFUL. No thanks. This place is really a gem but it takes a lot for me to give five stars. This place is close but food is a little inconsistent. I been here twice and tried variety of different things on the menu. This will be my go to breakfast place. Location/atmosphere: I love the atmosphere cause it is super casual and lively. Simple decoration of wood chairs. Service: I really love the service here. I been here for about 4 times and all waiters have been excellent. I do agree with previous reviews, they do always seem a little disorganized. Food: I tried many different things but my favorite things are always on their daily special. -Quiche: The daily flavor quiche is always amazing! I tried the cheese and ham or onions and mushrooms. Omg, always amazing -Omelets: my husband loves the don't be crabby omelet. They do not use imitation crab but it is canned crab but still excellent. I have not tried any other omelets but the menu makes them sound great! -Breakfast potatoes: AMAZING. Trust me you will eat all of it, it is not like your regular potatoes. It is favorable and full of herbs. YUM! -Pancakes/waffles/french toasts: I think they are just okay but they are all served with the blueberry compote. SO GOOD but they are not the best. I will recommend to stick with more savory dishes -Soup: I ONLY TRIED THE SPICY CORN. It is literary full mouthful of corn with hint of spice. I always try to get lucky to go there! -Biscuit and Gravy: This is where I am taking off my 1 star. I feel like they can a lot better cause the biscuit is a little tough for me. It is always different, sometimes I get good ones sometimes it is bad. Well-run restaurant should not have inconsistent food quality :) Overall experience: -This is really my go to place for breakfast. We went Saturday morning around 10 and wait was 15 minutes for 2 people. We were seated and greeted and got our coffees, good coffee. We ordered the Crab omelette and gravy scramble. We also ordered a peanut butter banana pancake. All food was delish and the crab is very good in the omelette. Gravy scramble was good but my husband said a little bland. Pancake was light and airy and peanut butter was really good melted on top. I would definitely come back to this place and it's worth the wait. read more

We went for breakfast on Mother's Day 2018 and it was busy as one might expect, about a 30 minute wait which was no biggie. Not sure if every Sunday is this packed or just on holidays. Every staff person we interacted with was friendly and in great spirits despite the hecticness of the morning, really appreciated their good attitudes! Very good coffee with unlimited refills. Ordered the Cajun Crepe which was excellent and just the right portioning--not enormous and not too small, just enough to be satisfied. The menu is also very well priced for the serving sizes. Be aware of a possible wait on weekend mornings, but Ginger Sue's is worth it. To me, they seemed well-rounded in every sense. Great experience. read more

Have been going to Ginger Sue's for several years and this was our first and only bad experience. Lattes were ok, except mostly foam. When we got regular coffee refill, coffee was watery and bitter AND we were charged additional $2 each. Never have had that happen anywhere before. Had to send several things back to be cooked properly. Never received part of one order which they did take off of the bill. Disappointed to lose one of our favorite breakfast places. read more

Ginger Sue's knows exactly what it is and does that thing very very well. Come hear for breakfast or brunch, leave with a full belly and the desire to take a nap. The atmosphere is very casual and is kid friendly. The decor is clean and not overbearing like some chain breakfast places. The service was great even though the place was packed.The scrambles are a must have. The pancakes are bigger then at grown men's heads. However, if you don't get here early be prepared to wait 20 to 30 minutes if you have a larger party. My family and I went here for breakfast. We have a disability that makes it to wear we cannot wear a mask. We drove 45 minutes to be able to eat here to celebrate my birthday. Ginger Sues refused to seat us because we couldn't wear a mask from the host stand to the table. This is against the Americans with Disability Act. I informed them of this and they still refused. I understand the COVID situation, but that does not give right to refuse my family and I to dine because we have a disability. read more

A great breakfast spot. I really like joints where the waitress calls you sweetie and the price is moderate. Well, no one called me sweetie (this IS Johnson county), but the service was great, the food was good, and you can get a great big breakfast for about $8. I had the Denver omelette and my wife had the special plate (eggs, potatoes, bacon, and biscuit with gravy. All were very good. It's not on the menu, but try the fruit cup. I almost don't want to post a review as I don't want to share this hidden gem with the rest of the world! Been twice since it opened and know already this is our new breakfast place. First time I had the Western omelet which came with a side of potatoes seasoned with Rosemary (what!?) And the best peppered bacon which also is sweet! (What? What?!) And to top it off..you also get a homemade biscuit that is light and flaky. The omelet was fluffy and stuffed full of flavor and was super filling. A+ breakfast! 2nd visit I was torn as I wanted to try something new but really wanted that first breakfast again...but I opted for adventure and got a bowl that had eggs, sausage, potatoes, pepper jack cheese, and gravy. Honestly I was hoping for more flavor but I think the gravy just left this dish a little short. It wasn't bad but just didn't wow me. Service is great and the staff has been very attentive. This place is above expectations! Looking at the menu I thought it was just another breakfast place. I love eggs Benedict so I decided to go with that. Wowzers! The English muffin is a honey wheat flavor, absolutely delicious, my guess is it's homemade! The ham...oh the ham! How do I describe it? It is not deli meat, it's fresh roasted, homemade ham sliced and generously piled on the muffin, it truly is exceptional quality. My one slight criticism is the hollandaise is not very flavorful and could use some more lemon. The breakfast potatoes came as a side and were also very good.
