I ordered the bibimbap, my favourite dish which I order at every Korean restaurant I go to and found it to be not great. The egg was fried which I don't like, I prefer the raw yolk much more tasty and authentic, I'm not sure why they didn't have that as almost all the other restaurants I've been to in the UK did. The portion was very small and the price was high. I had been to Miss Korea, also in Birmingham only 5 mins walk away from here which was fantastic, much more authentic and tasty, cheaper with better serving sizes. The service was mediocre, I had to remind them of things as they they forgot to bring foods I ordered, and didn't bring water for ages after I asked and had to remind them for that as well. The atmosphere is casual, similar to a cafe and an upside is that they give you a 10% discount if you pay by cash. The kimchi tasted pretty good too, despite the very disappointing bibimbap.

Slightly surprised by my order of dolsat bimbimbap, which was a tiny portion and didn't have the usual fried egg. Nevertheless, not disappointed in the quality or taste. It does a very good deal on a 'stop the clock' idea, which means you can sit and eat for two hours, from the moment of your first order. The cost is £15.80 which can't be bad. Personally I recommend the Bulgogi, thin sliced BBQ steak. Ushikata! I have hesitated in recommending Teppan Oriental because its very appeal is that all the customers are apparently Korean, Japanese or Chinese and this adds to the atmosphere...

Dishes are often cooked at the diner's table on metal grills that are built into the center of the table where diners can enjoy doing there own grilling/bbq at the dinner table. The Chinese Hot Pot also known as Shabu Shabu in Japan, and in Singapore and Malaysia the Steamboat. Like fondue but replaced with a simmering metal pot of stock at the centre of the table where diners place their ingredients into the pot to cook. The cooked food is usually eaten with a variety of dipping sauces. Typical Hot Pot dishes include thinly sliced meat, vegetables, dumplings and seafood. Here in Teppan we have a vast choice of ingredients, dipping sauces and stock.

The quality of food here is excellent and they're kimchi is the best I've ever had in terms of UK Korean restaurants, the portions are big and the prices are cheap; mains are around £8-9, starters are around £5 each. The service is basic at best, the staff are efficient but not too attentive. They also do not accept card so it's cash only, which is a downside. I loved the seafood bibimbap and spicy tofu jigae, both tasted divine. Overall high quality flavorful and authentic Korean food, cheap prices, generous portions but average service.

I have tried to get into SKK for lunch a few times over the the last couple of weeks, but they had sold out of everything every time I tried. So even after a big breakfast, I decided to head down early to avoid disappointment. Now, from the outside, Sky Kong Kong doesn't look that appealing. The sign above the door looks like my 2 year old nephew did it with some crayons, but I really like it. I like being unenthused walking into a restaurant and then blown away by the time I walk out. Inside can only be summed up as quirky. There are 3 long tables with around 10 chairs on each and a few books about Asian food and art. It looks as if its been put together in a few hours, and it probably was. But again, I really like it. It works! Now onto the food: wow! They have a two course bento menu that changes daily and today it started with a tomatoes an cherry dish. Unfortunately I didn't get all the details of this dish, but essentially it was sliced tomatoes, cherries and a delicious olive oil dressing. It was really refreshing and for somebody that doesn't love tomatoes, I demolished it! Unfortunately, but in true SKK fashion, they had run out of chicken for the main. So I had pan seared salmon instead: oh, go on then ;) That came with a courgette & parmesan pancake, cabbage with chorizo, wild rice and another cabbage dish. It was seriously good. For £6.50 it was amazing! This is definitely a five star lunch if ever I've had one!

Not only is it my first day back living on the glorious Gloucester Road after a 9 month hiatus, but I finally got round to trying Dain Korea, a new(ish) Korean restaurant just up from the arches. From the outside I'll be honest, it looks a bit tacky. It certainly doesn't look less than 12 months old, which it is. But it looks interesting, which is why I'd been looking forward to coming. Inside was a bit of a surprise. There was the expected plain tables with chop sticks, but with a wooden, thatched style hut over the counter. It didn't really fit, but I loved it for its character. It was pretty funny! On to the food: very good! Unfortunately I don't know much about Korean food. Bristol has some superb Asian restaurants, but we're not quite as developed at London or Birmingham - so Korean food is something of a welcomed new coming. That said, i thoroughly enjoyed the noodles. They were very wet but with tons of flavour. They actually brought me out a little plate of pickled vegetables and a small plate of yellow beans to start and the noodles came with a delicious Miso soup. The miso was darker than any I have had before and probably tastier than any other as well. This is a great little spot. Not that it needs to be plush to be good, but it a little polish around the edges and this place would be great to eat in as well. I'll be back (no Arnold Schwarzenegger voice attached here)

Came here as a party of 4 and luckily had made a reservation so got a table by the window…read more For drinks got the elderflower lemonade with no ice which was a mistake as it was sickly sweet. I ended up adding fair amounts water to soften the sugary taste down a bit. However encountered better luck with the choice of our food as both starters just blew away everyone on our table. We decided to get both of the Sharing Boards and oh gosh, brilliant decision as the food was excellent! 1) Bao Bun Board: just super delicious. I liked the crispy hoisin duck more than the BBQ pulled pork, and also liked the self service aspect of this (you had to make your own Bao bun). Really appreciated that they served generous amounts of the stuffing elements for the bun and all 4 items just complemented each other. 2) Age Board: the blackened chicken and tempura cauliflower bites were amazing! As were the accompanying sauces. The duck spring rolls were okay, but definitely for our group the chicken & cauliflower won when it came to tastiness. The cauliflower bites especially just super crisp while the chicken was so moist and with just super delicious spices! We should have stopped there and ordered dessert instead next, but we didn't realize so had also ordered mains! I got the Shio Ramen; other members of our group got the Bibimbap with Shrimp; Kung Pao Chicken; and Chow Mein. Btw, if you are worried that the menu selection seems all over the place when it comes to Asian food with Japanese, Korean, Sichuan Chinese & Hong Kong being represented with the menu choices our group made, I want to reassure anyone reading this review, that the food is tightly focused and the restaurant is Pan-Asian rather than Fusion Asian cuisine, so it all tastes fairly authentic. I had a taste of the Bibimbap and it was deliciousness! I think I might have enjoyed my Shio Ramen more if I wasn't already massively full from the Entree's. However if I return back to the restaurant, I won't get this ramen menu item again - I wanted a wee bit more vegetables plus the broth was a bit too bland for my taste. I put in copious amounts of dark soy spice and chili oil to spice it up. I also don't think the taste of the semi-cured chashu pork belly as the protein in the ramen was all that great. Don't get me wrong, the pork tasted delicious, but I wanted more of the fat to be present and mix with the ramen broth and instead it was more smoky taste elements. Overall however, service was great and as mentioned previously, those two starters hit it out of the park. I'd definitely return and get those two tasting boards again! Yelp 172/ 2019

First, they don't give a bunch of free sides that much Korean places do. They gave us two sides, one weird jelly thing (I wouldn't eat it again if they paid me) and bean sprouts. We ordered a pork belly, that is okay and the Korean short ribs that were better. It didn't come with lettuce so we had to order that too. The bimbimbap was good and I would order it again, but there aren't many ways you can mess that up. The Soon Du Bu was okay. It was pretty watery and lacking in some flavor but I still found it comforting to eat. The Kimchee was bad! Like really really bad, like it left a bitter taste in my mouth instead of a bright vinegar taste. Don't order it. If we come back, it would most likely be at lunch for their lunch special. The third clue was the location, somewhat off the beaten path in Oxford. What were these clues leading up to? The fact that I'd love this restaurant. When I returned that evening the first question asked was whether I had reservations. My heart dropped a beat admitting that I did not and then returned to normal when they brought me upstairs in an already full restaurant to seat me at a delightful 2-person table overlooking the street below. I faced inward though, wanting to observe everything that others were ordering. I sampled only edamame (£4.2), Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap (£10.5), Thai Green Curry (with tofu, £12.8), and a Boba drink but this was the type of place - in every regard - that I'd have liked to sample the entire menu. Perhaps you won't require as many clues as me to give PAN PAN a try. Perhaps this 5-star recommendation will be enough. I highly recommend this spot.
