Me and my partner decided to change to our local (Balti Wala in Cheltenham) to Spicy Kalcata club in Longlevens. At first I was impressed from outside as it looked like a very modern and contemporary dining experience. However, my luck turned upside down as soon as I walked through the door. Firstly, it was bad enough with the waiters just sitting down and the supervisor (wearing a dark grey waistcoat) was fiddling around with his phone. My partner managed to grab their attention and asked for a table for 2.
I had requested a table on the raised area but the waiter hadn't taken any notice and given us the table next to a plant. Our drinks orders were then taken. I will try and not sound extremely fussy, but my partner wasn't very impressed with the fact that his lager was dripping from the sides. On the other hand, the starter came in a good amount of time and tasted nice. However, our main courses had taken more than half an hour after our starters and staff weren't being productive.
When we eventually got our main course, it was "okay-ish". The main manager had asked us whether the meal was going well, my partner replied that it was fine but could have been better if it arrived earlier but his response (being hard to understand) was that it was busy which caused disruption. I was put off at the end as the table cloths had stains and holes. It was evident that after one customer had left, the table cloths were turned upside down and stains tried to be covered by placing candles on top.
After the meal , we were given a deserts menu and my partner went to the toilets and wasn't impressed. In the end, we decided that we'd leave deserts and just wanted to leave so asked for the bill. The supervisor person said that he'll bring it over but delayed it as he had more important things to do which was to be chatting and laughing to his colleagues.
Finally, we had paid for the meal and I must say the extortionate pricing did not correlate the level or service fit for 2 lawyers. The barman did however open the door on our way out and said goodbye which was pleasant. But on the whole I did feel the level of service was unsatisfactory and I wasn't very impressed with the senior members of management and hygiene. I'd rate this restaurant 1/5 (poor). read more
