At just over £11, it's actually a surprisingly decent value for money as the portion sizes are HUGE and extremely filling. I have hesitated in recommending Teppan Oriental because its very appeal is that all the customers are apparently Korean, Japanese or Chinese and this adds to the atmosphere...

Dishes are often cooked at the diner's table on metal grills that are built into the center of the table where diners can enjoy doing there own grilling/bbq at the dinner table. The Chinese Hot Pot also known as Shabu Shabu in Japan, and in Singapore and Malaysia the Steamboat. Like fondue but replaced with a simmering metal pot of stock at the centre of the table where diners place their ingredients into the pot to cook. The cooked food is usually eaten with a variety of dipping sauces. Typical Hot Pot dishes include thinly sliced meat, vegetables, dumplings and seafood. Here in Teppan we have a vast choice of ingredients, dipping sauces and stock.

Inside was a bit of a surprise. There was the expected plain tables with chop sticks, but with a wooden, thatched style hut over the counter. It didn't really fit, but I loved it for its character. It was pretty funny! On to the food: very good! Unfortunately I don't know much about Korean food. Bristol has some superb Asian restaurants, but we're not quite as developed at London or Birmingham - so Korean food is something of a welcomed new coming. That said, i thoroughly enjoyed the noodles. They were very wet but with tons of flavour. They actually brought me out a little plate of pickled vegetables and a small plate of yellow beans to start and the noodles came with a delicious Miso soup. The miso was darker than any I have had before and probably tastier than any other as well. This is a great little spot. I think this place is owned by a Persian/korean family and instead of going fusion they decided to serve authentic Korean and Persian dishes. The place is very cute with limited seating (about 30-32 people) and it gets full quick so reservation is a must. We ordered Pajeon, Kalguksu and jambbong. Pajeon had plenty of seafood and was crispy on the outside. Both jambbong and kalguksu were made authentic ways but the noodle for jambbong was thicker than usual which worked pretty well. I saw other people ordering kalbi/bulgogi of some sort which was served on a hot stone grill with plenty of lettuce leaves to make wraps with. Overall the service was great with very friendly staff. I ordered Persian tea with dates before meal (I think I was supposed to order it after meal) and the friendly waiter told me how he used to drink it in Persia! I haven't tried any Persian dishes to comment on them but I felt that most people come here for korean food as most of the main dishes are korean with about 4-5 Persian main dishes. They had a lot of interesting Persian starters though which I hope to try on my next visit.

If you want to skip the long form review, its good and you should definitely go. First, our mains. I chose the *KFC Chicken Katsu Curry and my wife picked the Ground Pork Tantanmen ramen. Part of the reason we had chosen the Cargo location was my wife wanting a good soup and the Tantanmen fit the bill. We barely got it in the picture it was so good. The stock was a bit creamy and had that good spice/heat that sits in the back of the throat. The noodles and pork were delicious and cooked perfectly. The *KFC (for Korean Fried Chicken) Katsu Curry was great, the curry sauce being separate was ideal, and the chicken was juicy and tender without being greasy. Both dishes were really well portioned for a mains price. The sides were plentiful and also well priced with umami ribs, toasted edamame, grilled pak choy, charshu pork belly, and a seasoned egg. The umami ribs were the priciest but were delicious and fall off the bone good. Would have liked a little more meat on them but great either way. The charshu pork belly was incredible, tender and a savory sweet. The toasted edamame really surprised as did the grilled pak choy, though I preferred the edamame. My wife enjoyed the egg but admitted it would have been better added to the ramen. Delicious food that will definitely bring us back for more.

The Korean fried chicken Bao, was delish and had a serious kick from the fiery kimchi! Love the community feel of CARGO and this is a great addition to the burgeoning Brizzle foodie scene...

The yaki soba £8 was so dry and sauce less we barely finished it. Worst dish here. The service was attentive, but it was empty. The noise is really loud even with just 15 people dining inside this massive dining room.

For a small shop, it is super compact and has a really good selection of ambient, fresh and frozen Korean and Japanese products (as well as some from other East and South East Asian countries) when considering the square footage. The prices are all reasonable for imported products, so I've never felt that I was spending too much money. The staff are really friendly. One time, when I was buying a 5kg bag of sushi rice, one of the storekeepers approached me and said that they could keep the bag behind the counter to save me from having to carry it around, which I really appreciated. They're also very approachable, which is good if you're looking for something unfamiliar. This is a family run business which has been in the neighbourhood for over twenty years, and hopefully many more years to come for when I eventually move back to Wales!

(They said hello when we came in, they asked us if we needed any help and they said thank you when we left even though, on that occassion, we didn't buy anything.) The shop itself is bigger than it looks when you first enter and is crammed full of some really exciting looking food. I'm not sure what they're called but the icecream that's coated in some kind of rice... those are good! It's also nice to be able to buy soy sauce in a reasonable sized bottle - the ones you get at the supermarket are ridiculously small. The prices are fantastic, especially considering how far its all been flown, so I was extremely impressed.
