So even after a big breakfast, I decided to head down early to avoid disappointment. Now, from the outside, Sky Kong Kong doesn't look that appealing. The sign above the door looks like my 2 year old nephew did it with some crayons, but I really like it. I like being unenthused walking into a restaurant and then blown away by the time I walk out. Inside can only be summed up as quirky. There are 3 long tables with around 10 chairs on each and a few books about Asian food and art. It looks as if its been put together in a few hours, and it probably was. But again, I really like it. It works! Now onto the food: wow! They have a two course bento menu that changes daily and today it started with a tomatoes an cherry dish. Unfortunately I didn't get all the details of this dish, but essentially it was sliced tomatoes, cherries and a delicious olive oil dressing. It was really refreshing and for somebody that doesn't love tomatoes, I demolished it! Unfortunately, but in true SKK fashion, they had run out of chicken for the main. So I had pan seared salmon instead: oh, go on then ;) That came with a courgette & parmesan pancake, cabbage with chorizo, wild rice and another cabbage dish. It was seriously good. For £6.50 it was amazing! This is definitely a five star lunch if ever I've had one!

I think this place is owned by a Persian/korean family and instead of going fusion they decided to serve authentic Korean and Persian dishes. The place is very cute with limited seating (about 30-32 people) and it gets full quick so reservation is a must. We ordered Pajeon, Kalguksu and jambbong. Pajeon had plenty of seafood and was crispy on the outside. Both jambbong and kalguksu were made authentic ways but the noodle for jambbong was thicker than usual which worked pretty well. I saw other people ordering kalbi/bulgogi of some sort which was served on a hot stone grill with plenty of lettuce leaves to make wraps with. Overall the service was great with very friendly staff. I ordered Persian tea with dates before meal (I think I was supposed to order it after meal) and the friendly waiter told me how he used to drink it in Persia! I haven't tried any Persian dishes to comment on them but I felt that most people come here for korean food as most of the main dishes are korean with about 4-5 Persian main dishes. They had a lot of interesting Persian starters though which I hope to try on my next visit.

The portions are huge and great value for money. The hot plate on the middle of your table makes it a very fun and sociable experience. At just over £11, it's actually a surprisingly decent value for money as the portion sizes are HUGE and extremely filling. Your choice of meat came with Korean dumplings, seaweed soup, kimchi, rice, and lovely Korean pancakes. We'd definitely order from here again or even stop by the actual restaurant if we're the area. All bibimbaps come with miso soup. They will do it without the egg too which probably makes it vegan (but check with them). Many vegetarian options, but watch out for the bonito (fish) flakes on a couple of items listed as vegetarian. There are Korean BBQ options here too if you're more the carnivore type! I'd recommend the deep fried seaweed wrapped rice noodle starter if you're not sure what to try. Mains are between about £6 and £11.

She asked me a series of questions to see what dishes I might like. She helped me pick a starter and some side dishes. I am a massive fan of Bulgogi, which is why I came here. She recommended that I try the Bulgogi barbeque style. Korean Grill refers to the Korean method of grilling beef, pork, chicken, or other types of meats and vegetables. The meat is grilled right at you table. They apparently use the latest technology grills, which is an electric bio ceramic table barbeque which retains the taste, but at the same time, drains the fats and extra oil out of the meat. With my Bulgogi barbeque, the matron recommended that I also ordered the Sangchoo & Par moochim (lettuce and seasoned spring onions), pajori (spicy scallion, spring onion salad) and ssamjang (a spicy paste made of soy bean paste mixed with chili paste). The the traditional Korean way of consuming BBQ is to wrap the a slice of the meat, vegetables, a dab of chili paste sauce, rice with lettuce and immediately eat with your hands, in one bite the matron advised me. The Korean Grill offers over 60 dishes, inluding 13 side dishes. They also do fresh Kimchi, which has officially been announced as one of top 5 world's healthiest foods. It does a very good deal on a 'stop the clock' idea, which means you can sit and eat for two hours, from the moment of your first order. The cost is £15.80 which can't be bad. Personally I recommend the Bulgogi, thin sliced BBQ steak. Ushikata! I have hesitated in recommending Teppan Oriental because its very appeal is that all the customers are apparently Korean, Japanese or Chinese and this adds to the atmosphere...

The Chinese Hot Pot also known as Shabu Shabu in Japan, and in Singapore and Malaysia the Steamboat. Like fondue but replaced with a simmering metal pot of stock at the centre of the table where diners place their ingredients into the pot to cook.
