Finally!!!! Vietnamese in Maynard. For a quick fix...this place is great. Enjoyed fresh rolls, pho, and a beer. Not everything seemed as intense on the spectrum as it should have been (spice, flavor, heat, sweet, etc.). Ordered for delivery for the first time during COVID-19 lockdown. Food was great! And reasonably priced. Fried rice was amazing! Pho was really good - I appreciated the way it was packed - components packed separately to keep textures and flavors correct. Avocado spring rolls were really good. Vermicelli was also good. I've ordered Gigi's takeout three times. I have never dined-in, but it looks like there aren't a ton of tables. The menu is somewhat limited, but it's SO GOOD. The basil fried rice is my favorite! The chicken pho and vermicelli noodle bowls are yummy, too. Gigi seems really nice! read more

Gigi does a great job in the front of house, with attentive service, frequent check ins and a constant friendly attitude from staff and ownership alike. The cozy atmosphere compliments the traditional Vietnamese staples. Vibrant spring rolls, savory pho, and bahn mi with fresh baked bread make for a satisfying and healthy evening that leaves the consumer satiated without feeling loaded down with excess salt and preservatives. Love this place. Great food, very affordable with generous portions and always very fresh ingredients. It's not a place you'd want to go to if you were in a rush as it takes some time for the food to come out, but the atmosphere and service is fantastic and the food is worth the wait. I love Gigi's. The menu isn't extensive like Boston area Vietnamese restaurants like Pho Pasteur but everything I've tried at Gigi's is good. Obviously the Pho soup is the real draw but the rolls are big and tasty too. You might be able to get tendon and tripe if you ask (I haven't tried) but you won't find it on the menu. You can get an excellent Vietnamese pour over coffee though which I highly recommend. read more

Excellent meal. Large portions yet still high quality ingredients. The mango salad was refreshing with large prawns. Ate there a week ago. The waitress was nice, the restaurant was pretty, the owners very sweet, but the food, not so much. Vietnamese is possibly my favorite cuisine, but there were SO many things wrong, that based on the food they would get one star: - The skins on the fresh roll had dried out a bit. - The carrots and vegetables in the filling did not have the necessary crunch. They were limp and chewy. - The bean sprouts and sliced jalapeno peppers that were supposed to accompany my Pho looked so sad, tired and dried out that had to have been sitting around in the fridge for days. - There was no fresh basil with the Pho. Who serves Pho without fresh basil? - My dining mate had a dish with grilled pork on noodles. This should be served with the meat piping hot on a bed of noodles. The meat was room temperature at best. As though they had grilled up one batch of meat hours before and then just threw it on the noodles cold as the dish was ordered. - Quite honestly, there was not a single thing about the food that stood out. Worse than Meh. I would never go again. read more

For people who know Maynard, same site that had been Cast Iron Kitchen. Gigi's offers casual (no tablecloth) dining in a comfortable, quiet (low background music) space. Our entrees made great use of fresh ingredients and subtle sauces. Most of the menu rests on noodle or rice dishes, but there are a few offerings for those with a hankering for more meat. The Asian Style Spareribs had a great charred flavor, with a side of sweet potato fries. The Pho broth had great flavor without being too salty. Prices were low and portions generous. Entrees were $8-14. The appetizer version of Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) was large enough that it and another appetizer such as coconut shrimp or spring rolls would make a very satisfying lunch. For the moment (our 12/29 visit), no liquor license, but guests are allowed to bring in wine or beer. Revised menu now has a few vegetarian entrees, and no longer has sushi selections. For our weekday dinner visit we had no wait for a table, but I fully expect Gigi's to very soon have line-out-the door or make-a-reservation popularity. read more

From walking in the door to a friendly welcome, the atmosphere,the water girl, the waitress, Gigi and Phan (the owners). And of course the freshness and delicious choices to choose from. I've been wishing for a good Vietnamese restaurant in Maynard and this is it. I've been three times in the last month; once with my family, once with some friends, and for lunch with my husband and have had a great experience each time. I've had the vermicelli with chicken and pork and the chicken pho which was outstanding. The spring rolls were delicious and healthy unlike other fried rolls I've had. The prices can't be beat. Very affordable, high quality food. The staff and owners are very friendly and a few of them used to work at the previous restaurant Cast Iron Kitchen so it's nice to see them back. Be forewarned though - if you go on a weekend night try to go early because there will definitely be a wait. The bar is up and running now so you can always grab a drink while you wait. Let me admit I'm the last American to discover Vietnamese food so I can't really compare this to anything. Luckily I had a generous and friendly waiter who walked me through the menu. He also took extra care with the chef regarding my shellfish allergy and came back to tell me the spring rolls I ordered had a tiny amount of shellfish. I had a large bowl of Pho and loved it. Onto the more important stuff... as an Asian who loves Vietnamese food, this place was disappointing. Although the meats were cooked perfectly, there was very little flavor to the pho and vermicelli. We had dinner here recently and all the meals we had were very good. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere, with live guitar music on weekends. We had the traditional, crab and the avocado spring rolls as appetizers they were all very good ,with nice dipping sauces.For main courses we had Thai basil fried rice ,which has chicken, and lemongrass tofu vermicelli . Asked if we can get tribes, which normally comes with the noodle soup in all the Vietnamese restaurant we've been to, but they don't have. My wife asked for bun bo hue, another standard Vietnamese noodle soup but not available at Gigi's. When our order got to the table I was so excited to get Pho so close to home. But, it taste nothing like a normal pho noodle soup would taste like. Very disappointing, so total 3 stars. People who wants really good noodle soup should try Pho 88 in Chelmsford, Pho Pasteur in Chinatown or Pho#1 on Moody St. Waltham. read more
