    Fantastic 4

I decided to revisit here with my wife so soon because we had a big craving for sushi and we wanted to try more things on the menu. Truth be told, I really just wanted to get the next level platter and be a total glutton. Similar to last time, parking is pretty simple. It's odd, it seems like the restaurant interior is built to accommodate farrr more people than what parking allows. It felt like the lot was about 75% filled with cars when we arrived, but it wasn't all that crowded inside. This time we ordered.. Fantastic 4 - $13 - I wasn't really a fan of this. I just don't like my sushi warm, but my wife enjoyed it and that's all that really matters. Each piece is like a mini sandwich of 4 seafoods and crispy rice. Salmon on Fire - $28 - this was one of the specials that's handwritten on the little sign at each table. I've never ordered this kind of dish before, but I've seen it plenty of times on social media at a bunch of other restaurants. The waitress brings a little natural contraption with 4 slices of salmon hanging over. She lights the kindling creating a fire under the rack of salmon and then you let her know when you want to put out the flames. We didn't really know how long to wait, but I prefer my salmon raw anyways. A citrusy sauce is poured over the salmon to extinguish the flames, and then she serves the salmon on your plates for you. It was an enjoyable show for social media and it was delicious! Rainbow Deluxe - $65 - I think I will let my pictures speak for itself. Lots of delicious sashimi and nigiri, and i was a big fan of the California Rolls topped with spicy mayo and roe. It's a pricy entrée but I couldn't resist. Additionally, I believe the owner came by and spoke with us for a bit. I'm something of an introvert and didn't really know how to talk while eating and snapping pictures, but she brought us two tiny bowls salmon sashimi wrapped around an orange slice and topped sliced jalapeno and a cherry tomato. Very good! We spent a pretty penny on this dinner for 2 and we loved everything! Will totally be back again!

Sawa in Gardner has opened a new location. Much larger and free standing. First thing we noticed is the outside patio, walking inside and wow, what a beautiful restaurant. Is this a destination restaurant in Gardner? The money and time spent on this restaurant is amazing. But we are here for the food right?? Let me go back to the restaurant first. Fountains and full size palms for aesthetic win! Ok back to food and service. Three of us for lunch. We all ordered luncheon specials with a crab Rangoon app. Rangoons tasty, but only six in the order. The luncheon specials were just Ok. No option for salad so you choose a soup, miso for me, ok flavor but very small. Next was a nice bonus, half Maki roll (3 pieces) two choices, either California roll or spicy tuna, again nice add to the meal, the spicy tuna roll was good. Then came the plate, I chose the General Gao, PFR with chicken fingers. It came with the usual two pieces of broccoli. The portion was a bit small and the fingers were tiny with a noticeably sweet batter. The rice was bland and very basic and the General GAO while having the perfect firm fried and sauced texture was also lacking in flavor. The service was friendly but felt rushed. Overall I would love to give more than 3 stars but the food was just OK and for $15.00 for a lunch plate it was not worth the 30 minute ride. Will we go back, yes, they have not been open long and I think they are juggling their old location (take out and delivery only) with their new much larger location. We'll give them some time to sort things out and try again when it's warmer and we can try the outside patio. Oh and I forgot to mention, there is a Mai Tia for 4 on the drink menu for $100.00.

The original Sawa in timpany plaza was good, best curry around. This new restaurant and sushi bar is a massive step up. We ordered chef's choice of rolls and were presented with beautifully presented food with flavor that was incredible. I am hard to impress when it comes to sushi, and I'm highly impressed!

So sawa opened up where the the old Mexican was which was the border. So we know what it used to look like. Sawa completely changed the inside and in my opinion for the better. The atmosphere was very lovely, and spacious. The food was decent, dessert was delicious. Portion sizes were small and expensive for what it was. drinks were good. But no water was on the table. It is handicapped accessible but didn't check the bathrooms out.

Approachable menu with as much fusion as authentic Korean. -- Chicken Wings: Jumbo wings with extra crispness and an inner texture varying between sufficiently moist and gushingly juicy, depending on the piece. Always liked them, and I tried twice more recently with similar positive results. Excellent flavor in both the Soy Garlic and the Sweet and Spicy Gochujang. Superb, and with no price hikes in at least five years, now an excellent value too. -- Kimchi Pancake: Crispy on the edges and fluffier inside, with kimchi adding some crunch and nice flavor to go with the starch. Thin dark sauce to complement it. I think of it as a Korean cross between scallion pancake and egg foo yong. Good for sharing. -- Seafood Jampong: A large bowl of seafood stew with a red broth that has some creaminess as well as spice. Nice texture and chock full of large mussels, scallops, shrimp (gigantic Gulf shrimp as well as baby shrimp), Asian squid, and noodles. The squid was a little chewy, but everything else was cooked beautifully. This dish satisfied both in the restaurant and as leftovers the next day. Good choice for family meal, date meal, or chowing with the buds meal.

We just did the sushi Love boat for four people and all of the sushi was fresh. The salmon was buttery. The tuna was firm. The rolls were done perfectly. We had to wait a bit at the door and there was a little bit of confusion there so we were delayed in getting our seats.... And the waitress was a bit delayed getting to our table, but we made the best of it. Next time we're here, I'm going to do some of the more Korean dishes, but the sushi is well recommended.

There was a great singer, pianist, and sax player to really set the mood. They were super fun, especially when a couple got engaged! To start, I got their ginger martini and while my friend went with a Do-er neat (not a whiskey drinker myself, lol). He tried to order 2 of their beers but they were out of both. My drink came after 15 mins and then we had to remind the waiter about his whiskey. That took another 10. We started with the chicken bao buns and the samosas. Both spectacular! My only complaint is the little size for the samosa size. For our mains we got the short rib and the white butter chicken. The butter chicken could've used a bit more chicken for the price and was frankly a bit tough. The sauce was great. The short rib was flavorful and packed the perfect punch. Dipping the garlic naan in both sauces was my fav part!! Overall an ok experience. I want to give the restaurant grace because it was very packed but service was poor. I think we had 4 different staff members help us total which probably led to lots of miscommunication.

Sawa had a decent Yelp rating (and was essentially the only place we could walk to), so we decided to give it a try. It has a large bar, traditional table seating and Hibachi steakhouse style seating, it's a fairly large place. It also projects a traditional Japanese Steakhouse vibe. Since we were dining at an off time, there was only one other patron in view. They have an expansive Asian menu and we ordered: Salmon Dinner - 5pcs of salmon sushi & spicy salmon roll (with salad) Asian Fried Rice with Chicken Scallion Pancake Gyoza -Japanese pan fried pork dumpling 2 Green Tea Total with Tip: $78 How expansive is the menu? If you search for Salmon on their online menu, you get 47 hits! Service was good, then again we were essentially on our own. The Salmon was good, not the best I've ever had, but tasty. The Fried Rice was also tasty, but very salty. The Scallion Pancakes were crispy and nicely cooked, we really liked these. And the Gyoza was very tasty, but should have been crisper. Overall, a very enjoyable "Linner" and a 4-star dining experience. I would return here if in the area.

The spicy ramen was okay, I love spice but this one was a bit starchy as if too much starch was used to thicken the broth. The noodles were also way too soft; and there's very little protein. I got beansprout as an add on and that was $2; a bit much if added onto the bowl.

Our food arrived fairly quickly as well. All of the staff are very friendly & attentive. The space is cool, very relaxing & open. As for the food, it was very, very SALTY. The mussels were good but once you reach the bottom of the bowl it was salty. The flavor of the wings were good but also salty. The ramen was also extremely salty as well so it seems like everything they make here is just overall on the salty side. If they just lessened every dish on that part, it would be perfect. But especially the ramen was very hard to eat without drinking 5 cups of water. The shirley temple was delicious tho! Food is 3/5 but service is a 5/5. So I will say the service definitely saved the rating from 3 stars.
