Came here for dinner at night. There were a lot of open seats which was nice, no need to wait. The seats were comfortable and I got a booth table. I ordered the spicy salmon nachos, it was tasty and spicy, but it was a little small. I like how they use the sour cream and onion Pringles which complimented the taste. I also ordered the tempura appetizer, it was OK. It was very doughey. I probably wouldn't order that again. However, the sweet soy sauce that came with it was really good. My friend, Gary, who is really a restaurant savant, thought the pad Thai was the best in the area. I have come here off and on for a number of years now... and I have yet to have a bad experience dining here. I usually come for dinner, and last night was no exception. A great time overall and no complaints. A friend of mine and I went for dinner last night around 7pm and were immediately seated in a booth. The table and area were very clean and well kept. Our waitress came over within a minute or two to take our drink orders. I got a soda which was definitely flat. As soon as I said something she immedietately replaced it and brought me another one that was perfect. I ordered the hot & sour soup along with the Dragon & Phoenix (General Gau chicken and General Gau shrimp - a must try!) The soup came out first; fresh and hot, and delicious. The main entree was also great. The portions were large and I had to take about 30% of it home (which I finished for lunch today). My friend got scallion pancakes, beef fried rice and... I forget his entree :) But no complaints from him either. He also had plenty to take home in a doggie bag. Our check came promptly when we were finished, and the entire experience was smooth and seamless. A very nice dinner overall. Pricing: I'll say this: it's not cheap. But also, I don't feel like I'm getting ripped off either. Given the portion sizes that I've gotten each time, it seems like you are truly getting what you pay for. The atmosphere is nice and their portions do run pretty large (at least the food that I order). I haven't really done sushi here before so I can't speak on that. If you are on the fence about this place given the fact that the reviews seems a little all over the place on here... I'd say give them a try. Came in midday on a weekday it was pretty open, the lighting was nice and the music was not too loud. I was sat quickly and the front staff was very friendly. I ordered a Lemon Drop to start, the presentation was super cute and it was very refreshing. For the entree I asked the waitress some questions about what I should get and she was very patient and answered everything, in the end she suggested to try both the Eel and the fish I should get a Chirashi with an Eel roll and it shouldnt be too much. I took her advice on that one, the Chirashi came with miso and a salad, both very good and I am obsessed with the dressing for the salad. My one note at this point is that the menu is a little confusing to navigate at first. The Eel roll came first and it was absolutely delicious, the Eel was tender and savory, the avocado was fresh and creamy and there was just the perfect amount of crunch. As for the Chirashi I will admit it was much smaller than I thought for the price and the bowl was a weird shape that was difficult to get all of the rice out of but tbe food itself was incredible, the fish is fresh and practically melts in your mouth. In the future I will probably just got for a roll and some sashimi but I absolutely will be back. read more

I didn't have the sushi but my girl did and she said it was "pretty good" which could mean good or great I'm not even sure. The service was average at best. The Chinese food has vastly improved from my memory and the sushi quality is very good, and can be even exceptional at times! I have recently dined in as well as gotten takeout - dishes like mein fun, pan fried Peking ravioli, chicken wings, yang chow fried rice all tasted authentic and delicious during recent visits. Ordering their sashimi and combo sushi sets have made for some delicious meals and sashimi was very good quality. Their menu is pan Asian so I can't speak for the other more Americanized Asian dishes they offer like chop suey which is not my speed. I wish they'd offer a noodle soup option (like nabeyaki udon or wonton noodle soup). Otherwise definitely recommend!!! read more

First time trying Taka today for lunch. It was excellent. We had the egg rolls, fried gyoza, and scallion pancakes. All amazing. Not greasy at all. The bad: You know how your order is usually separated in the takeout bag by layers of cardboard? Ours was, but one of the pieces was from a cardboard box of frozen pork dumplings. Only tried the Chinese so far, and it's the typical suburban variety, presented more beautifully (flowers on the plate!) but a little short on taste and portion for the price. Dumplings were cold and almost certainly a frozen product (the retry was better), then one of the entrees was also cold. A pleasant looking space, more upscale than you'd expect and much larger inside than what you'd expect. Service was somewhat chaotic but the effort was there. It's still a welcome addition to the area, so I'd give Taka another try down the road once the kinks are ironed out. read more

We were returning from a weekend getaway and actually pulled in looking for something to munch on for the rest of the drive home when the logo caught our eye and we said sushi and Chinese, why not? Ordering online was easy enough. The email said it would be 20 minutes. We waited about 25 and then went to restaurant and were a bit confused on how to pick up our order but luckily the hostess came out and said it'd be right out. It was super hot so waiting around an additional 5 minutes while not really a long time felt like forever. We brought the food home and were dying to try it as it smelled so good on the short ride. The star of the pupu platter was the crab rangoon. Delicious and so light. I would order that again for sure. The rest of the platter was your standard fare - egg rolls that were dry, tons of pork strips, beef and chicken teryiaki (also dry), greasy chicken fingers and pretty good chicken wings. I wish we'd ordered a side of fried rice. The sushi was a super disappointment. We got the Boston roll and the rice was dry and the filling tasted nonexistent. Waste of money as it was pretty inedible. For around $30, not sure we got great value for our money. So many Chinese places to pick from that I don't think we'd return again. read more

There are so many Asian restaurant that are better than this one in the neighboring towns, I would skip this one and go there. Overall, the food did not taste fresh and was extremely salty. The server was constantly rushing us. He kept coming by and asking questions or to take plates away. The bill came with the desert. And, he did it while the restaurant was mostly empty. We are nice people. I don't know why he wanted to get rid of us. First, I ordered shumai (steamed dumplings) and some sushi. the shumai was cold and I sent it back. We got a new order that was warm, not hot. But, it absolutely tasted like the shumai you would get in a frozen box from Trader Joe's. I mean it. I have eaten that. And the sushi did taste a little off. We had two main courses of Chinese style food. The sauces are very thick and heavy with lots of corn starch and salt. I like Chinese food where the flavors of the ingredients shine. Not here. The overall result was so salty, bland and thick that I did not eat most of it. One of the dishes was asparagus and chicken, neither of which seemed fresh. The other was a sizzle dish of meat, chicken and shrimp. Everything tasted the same. Honestly, the flavors blended together and the sauce overpowered them all. The only dessert was fried ice cream. My friend asked for regular ice cream. It was not available. ------------ Update: I wrote this review while at the restaurant. Within moments, the woman who runs the front of the house, came to our table. She saw the review and immediately wanted to respond. She apologized for the food and the service. She made a point of telling us that they want to improve and they want us to come back. Mongolian beef greasy, swimming in brown sauce and onions- no scallions which is a main component of the dish. To take home left overs, they hand you styrofoam containers for you to package yourself, no bag to place the container(s) in. Now your greasy main dish will leak all over your clothing and car. MENUS - 4.5/5 (5 being most futuristic) They had 3 iPads strapped together with some sort of adhesive tape that made ordering extremely MYSTIFYING. CONFUSION SCALE - 4/5 (5 being extremely confusing) They have two menus: hibachi and normal dinner menu. If you sit by the hibachi, they refuse to give you access to the normal dinner menu. This created an IRREPARABLE SCHISM because half our party wanted hibachi, and the other half wanted a sushi boat. We were told it was IMPOSSIBLE to serve a sushi boat on the hibachi side. The feud between hibachi and sushi has apparently been long-standing; the conflict involves infinite nuances that made understanding it INCONCEIVABLE. To say the least, we were confused, and I fear that the Hibachi-Sushi War will rage on for years to come. THAI ICED TEA 2/5 The Thai iced tea did not meet the standard I typically expect of my Thai iced teas. I believe they actually just poured DASANI's new "Thai-iced-tea-flavored water" into a mason jar with ice. The volume measured in at approximately 4.3 cubic inches, a very small serving. The only positive about the small quantity was that I did not have to endure drinking that much of it. STRAWS 2/5 The straws come pre-chewed, and they are made of some new, SPACE-AGE, helium infused plastic. They refuse to stay in your cup, floating to the top and falling out, because of their extreme lack in density. This was INFURIATING. By the end of dinner, mine was hovering at the ceiling like Charlie and Grandpa Joe after ingesting the Fizzy Lifting Drinks. SPINNABILITY OF EGG 5/5 The highlight of the night was easily watching the hibachi chef spin an egg. Oh how that egg spun. Ordered takeout from here yesterday amidst the coronavirus craziness, got chicken lo mein, chicken wings, boneless ribs, spring rolls, kung pao beef, and white rice. The good: Chicken wings were good, seasoned well, and crispy. The meh: The boneless ribs were superbly overdone to the point that they were hard. Not terrible, but not a lot of flavor in them either. The bad: The lo mein had ZERO salt in it, it tasted like someone boiled spaghetti and threw three slices of chicken breast, a few onion strands, and a piece of shredded carrot in and called it a day. The absurd: Never received my spring rolls, and the prices, damn...the prices are absurd for the portions you get. 12 dollars for 5 chicken wings? 13 dollars for flavorless spaghetti with barely any meat or veggies?
