I don't have a lot to say about Siam Village other than they're a very dependable, great local Thai place that's been around for a good while. Their pad thai really hits the spot, especially with shrimp and chicken in there and peanut sauce of course. At my last visit, I went for the spicy cashews and vegetables with beef and rice, which was wonderful with many pieces of beef. I like to sometimes test myself with spicy foods to see what I can handle, which probably isn't a great deal, but this one was manageable and there were plenty of flavors in general. The atmosphere is nice and calming, it's never too loud or busy when I've been there. The service is very good but they also do takeout if that's what you need. So for tried and true, consistently great Thai food, check out the Maynard mainstay Siam Village. read more

I was in town visiting family and we had an amazing meal at Siam Village. We have lots of excellent Thai options at home but literally every dish here was exceptional. The vegetarian spring rolls were great, and I thought the Pad Thai was one of the best I've had. Sometimes Pad Thai can be oily but this version wasn't at all and it hit all the right notes with its flavors that all really popped. Loved it. My brother's favorite dish here is the Yellow Curry and it was great - I couldn't argue with him. The Red Curry my parents ordered was excellent too. My niece liked her vegetarian fried rice and my sister-in-law's simple stir-fried vegetables with tofu was lovely also. My brother said he has been coming here for 20 years. Great Thai food in Maynard. We actually took an Uber from Boston to meet my sister and family. The couple running the place were very nice and took care of the seven of us. I had the red curry with chicken and brown rice. The curry was flavorful and the vegetables were so fresh. The rest of the family enjoyed a variety of dishes and finished them all. One of our go-to Thai Restaurants. Ordered several take-out dishes for a group. This time the food was not up to our expectations, nor was it a good match to the descriptions on the menu. The preparation was ok, except for one item: The Fried Chicken Dumplins. They were very overcooked, to the point of being completely inedible. On the next visit when we again got takeout, I mentioned this to the owners, but they showed little concern. One of them said that perhaps the Steamed Dumplins would've been better than the Fried. This, of course, misses the entire point. I will probably give them another chance, but I will probably also try some alternative Thai restaurants in the area. read more

Stumbled upon this place tonight. Went here at 5:00 PM and no one was inside which is expected. Server was nice and was quick to take our order. She was nice and was attentive and did not mess up our order. I got the Ladna choosing Pork. The Ladna is your choosing of meat, vegetables, and noodles. The Ladna was fine. The broccoli was undercooked. The meat had a blackness to it. The food was under sauce because all of it was on the bottom and was about to overflow off my plate. Sauce did not have a taste. Had a noodles craving (this happens every other day for me) and since we're still in the burbs, we decided to check out this little spot - I knew I wanted some form of noodles and a bowl of Tom Yum soup sounded really good - a classic Thai dish but instead of just a bowl of soup as a starter I wanted a whole bowl of it and of course, loaded with noodles. They were accommodating and made it happen for me and I was not disappointed. We also got a bowl of chicken curry noodle soup, the curry had a nice light flavor I was expecting a little bit of a thicker consistency but the tiny taste buds were still delighted nonetheless! We also ordered the summer rolls as a app and that was our veggie portion of the meal. Overall this little spot was satisfying, the service was quick and friendly, and the food was priced well for what it was. This is a great Thai restaurant . We ordered take out; red curry and crazy noodles. Both were absolutely delicious. Lots of fresh, yes fresh, vegetables in both. We could tell they were fresh as the broccoli was in bite size pieces, green beans,carrots were sliced beautifully with a scalloped edge, bamboo shoots, bell peppers and squash. Oh yes included were onions and peas. The veggies were not cubed but sliced diagonally so it made for a beautiful presentation. The flavors were spot on for each dish. I have been coming here for 20 years, and it is still hands-down my favorite Thai restaurant. Literally every other restaurant I've tried all across the country cannot measure up to the quality of Pad Thai or cheery, speedy service at Siam Village. I don't know exactly what's different about the Pad Thai here, but it is SO GOOD and travels remarkably well without getting mushy or sticky. 100% recommend! read more

Been going here off and on, primarily because it's 1h+ from where I live, and every time it's just as good as the first time and worth the trip. Giving the food 5 stars and don't want to take away from the rating by judging the atmosphere (it's OK inside there but not "nice"). Spring rolls and cashew chicken are my go to items. The cashew chicken is my favorite out of any Thai place I've ever been. I judge other Thai places on how they stack up against the cashew chicken at Siam Village. We were excited to try this restaurant since it had good revies and was close to home. Unfortunately though we did not have a good experience. We were seated at a table and we asked if we could be moved to another table with more light on the other side. We were told we can't because those tables are reserved for more than two people. Fair enough. We were moved to another table that was more comfortable but immediately after we saw a party of two at the table and side of the restaurant we wanted and another party of two at the tables nearby. The server/possible owner then never came back to take our order and someone else had to. The server also never checked in on us during the meal even though she did with everyone else. At the end of our meal, she brought the check and put it in front of us without asking if we wanted anything else. The same also happened when we paid the bill and left. These things may not seem like big things to many, but they are big if you are a visible minority and have encountered these 'little' things your entire life. The only difference between us and the other customers was that our skin was brown while the others that were treated well weren't. What surprised us in the end was that despite the treatment and no attention to us there was a full tip already charged on our bill for a party of two. We did what was right, and yet walked out feeling terrible because of how this experience made us feel. It was a special night out for us. It really is a shame that in 2023 such things still happen, especially in a state that is supposed to be progressive. read more

The food is not bad. We had pad Thai and fried rice. The waitress was really rude and had a bad attitude. We got in she gestured us to sit by the window. My friend was still asking her details about the dish when she had taken our order, she didn't stop and listen, instead she walked away. We didn't have enough cash to give 15% tip, but we still gave her 9%. When she found out that's all she got, she shook her head to us. That's why she got 2 Stars. read more

I can't say I have at all experienced the poor sanitary conditions here, and have been many, many times in the past several years. I have not noticed any more flies here than any other establishment. Affectionately known as "near thai" by the Clocktower folks, Siam Village is a very decent, quiet restaurant for a change of pace from the bizarrely high number of pizza places in town. They have great lunch combos, quick service, and friendly staff. Order the mango fried rice or ask for the spicey pad thai - its huge and hard to beat. Everything else is good - you won't be 'wowed' but you probably won't be 'ewed' either. If they have it, get the fried ice cream. It is by far one of the tastiest things I have ever eaten.. essentially it is ice cream wrapped in a donut shell. Yum. Nothing overly special here, but its all around good food for cheap. read more

Coming from close to Boston and having tried various Thai places in and around the city I have to say this is one of the best Thai places I've eaten at. I have never seen a fly or any other insect in this restaurant. I have never had any dirty plates or cups either. The food is good. I enjoy the curry dishes and my wife loves their Pad Thai. We usually got take out to bring back to the office and always had leftovers for dinner. The portions when you eat there seem to be smaller, but still plenty of food. read more

We went to Siam Villiage last night and were underwhelmed by the inconsistency of the food quality and appalled by the service. My pad thai was adequate, but my companion's was dry and has little flavor/sauce. It was the service that really killed us though; we waited a long time to be greeted and seated and about 15 minutes before our order was taken. But that was just the beginning- it was more than 25 minutes to get our soup, never mind entree. The restaurant was almost empty but I know takeout is a big part of their business. If the wait had been acknowledged in any way or an apology offered it would have gone a long way. As it was, we left feeling they didn't notice or care. Thai Chili next time! read more

Three or four years ago, I used to be a regular at this establishment. Service has been consistently good, but the quality of food seems to be decreasing. The portions have grown increasingly less generous, and their chicken has becoming increasingly more dry. I was formerly quite a fan of their Chicken Saté, but these days it's excessively dry and not the slightest bit tender. Their fried rice seems to be more of the same, almost excessively dry and increasingly flavourless. The shrimp are often pan-seared to the point of dry edges, instead of crisp tenderness. Perhaps I've become disillusioned. Siam Village used to be my go-to Thai place, but I've been looking into other options recently. Hopefully they return to their old form. read more

The greatest Thai food around town! The lunch deals are the best and I highly recommend stopping in for a combo deal. The pad Thai is my absolute favorite! It comes with both chicken and shrimp, and has little peanuts sprinkled on top. The steamed chicken dumplings are also tasty and come with a sweet type of dipping sauce. Although the Thai food is my favorite around, I gave this place a four because I wish they had some music playing. The place is usually far too quiet and you can hear everyone's conversations. So for New Years Ever 2009, I was out and about for lunch time and wanted to some grub. I was visiting a friend in the area, and remembered all the great places to eat in downtown Maynard. So I decided to try this place b/c I wanted Thai food. I walked in and the place was empty. The owner was very friendly to make small talked and was polite to me the whole time I told him what I wanted and such. I ordered just the basic and classic Pad Thai. I felt I needed to try there version. I waited and only took about 10 minutes, but that gave me time to check out the decor. It was very simple and clean looking. Nice table clothes, Bangkok sovereigns in glass cases and a very bright room from natural lighting from outside. I remembered that I ordered Pad Thai for lunch and realized how good the price was. For a full order of Pad Thai, was only around $6.50 ish. The dinner version was about $7.95. Everything on there menu was very affordable and they ever had combo deals where you get spring rolls and such which I haven't seen at all of the Thai places I have been to. They had an extensive menu from, appetizers, to rice and noodle dishes, to curries and special duck meals. The location was good. On a main street and busy intersection of Maynard. Lots of street and lot parking around. The one thing that's a disadvantage is this place is NOT wheelchair accessible. Now for the real test. Tasting the food. I got the food to my friends house and smelled fantastic, and tried it. It had a good, typical Pad Thai taste. The one thing I didnt like as much as most of the places I want to is, this place lacked the peanut flavor and rich herb taste that I personally take. The amount of egg and chicken and such was all very good, just there wasn't enough peanut, and rich flavor for me. It was just OK and standard. The portion size was big though. They give you alot for just little over $6, which is great! Overall, this place is a little gem in Maynard and is one out of two I know of in downtown Maynard. Its been reviewed by local papers, easy to find, nice decor, and great portions and OK flavor. If you live around or visiting the area and want Thai, then go here! You can not go wrong and great place to eat out on a dinner date or group get together. Popped into this amazing Thai restaurant for dinner when we discovered the restaurant we originally chose to go to was closed for the evening. What a serendipity! We ordered the Papaya salad as a starter and I found it refreshingly bright and crisp, with a delicious nutty crunch from the toasted peanuts and a perfect balance of heat. I had the Basil entree with tofu, extra spicy and absolutely loved it. The second entree was Red Curry with Tofu and it too was scrumptious. Try the Lotus wine if you haven't yet! read more

I really want to love Siam Village because it is the local Thai shop, but I wasn't overly impressed. The food was bland to me, which is surprising for Thai cuisine -- typically anything but bland. I have only had take-out, but I would never eat in the restaurant. It is run-down, lacking atmosphere, and, on my most recent visit, overtaken by flies. So sorry, Siam. More authentic tasting food than most Boston area Thai place. Their tom yum soup was not corrupted by some sweet sauce unlike a lot of places I have been to in this part of the world. I tried their fried rice and broccoli chicken, which both tasted great. The broccoli chicken actually had plenty of other veggies, was not hot, and was therefore perfect for my kid. The food did not feel greasy. The appetizer sampler was terrific. We went at a late hour. But the hostesses were very welcoming. They set tables ahead of our arrival since we had called to check how long their kitchen would be open. Although it was past closing time, they did not rush their customers. Went there around 7:30 on a week night, it was supposed to close at 9pm. IT WAS AWFUL! The food was pre-prepared, so that it came within 3-4 minutes of placing the order, it was dried out, hard to chew and swallow. The hostess was, from the get go, not happy to have customers. She was in the middle of watching a movie, and apparently irate that she had to pause it to serve us. She gave every indication that she wanted us out of there asap. Very authentic thai cuisine, and as other yelpers have commented on - a hidden gem. Decoration of the restaurant is simple, but the service is always attentive and efficient and food is always fresh and yummy. We have tried Pad Thai, Seafood Bouillabaisse, Country Fried Rice, Satay, Green Curry, Duck Curry, and all taste delicious. Once we were in the restaurant, the owner overheard that I mentioned they always give you a variety of chilli peppers and paste if you were in Thailand, and she went in and brought me a whole tray of them! After working in the Clock Tower for 3 years, i finally made it to the 'other Thai place' last week, and, really, i don't think Thai Chili needs to worry about losing my business. i didn't see any sanitation issues at all, for the record, but the pad thai was lackluster, and no one else i was with was really wowed, either. Portions were decidedly smaller; nearly no one went home with leftovers, as they do down the street, and, well, i just like the ridiculously polite lady who knows us at Thai Chili better. About the only thing in its favor is its size, and ability to handle larger groups without taking up the entire place. Other than that, walk the extra couple blocks. read more
