This is a nice place. I've tried many items on their menu over the years. My wife appreciates their vegetarian options.

I was in the area for work with my boss when we decided to grab some quick lunch. This restaurant is located in the Shaw's plaza so there's plenty of parking. They unfortunately had most of their chairs up and the only area that was available for dine in eating was the bar (probably due to Covid?) I got the tofu pad Thai and my boss got the shrimp Pad Mee Rainbow. We both enjoyed our dishes. They were flavorful and tasty. Service was also good. read more

This place is a gem! I've never been anything but in love with Similan! Not only are the portions huge, but they know what they are doing. I ask for something that is not on the menu and they make it every time. Apparently they are making their own sauces now too! Excellent! For a small town like Clinton you may not expect to find a great Thai food. We have traveled to Boston and the suburbs to find really good Thai. We're thrilled and surprised that the best is right down the street. We'll worth the drive if it isn't just down the street for you. read more

Expected a lot better from the reviews I read. We tried this place because of the yelp reviews and we were mailed a coupon in the mail. We got takeout. Food was ready within 20 min which was nice. So the food: Fresh rolls: delicious and crisp. Sauce was a little weird but definitely good. Chicken satay: the best thing we ordered. Highly recommend Chicken cashew nut: not so good. Chicken was very dry. Pad thai: actually pretty good, but also had very dry chicken that was hard to chew. Drunken noodles: good flavor but too spicy (we asked for it made very mild) and the chicken was super dry. Thai time is just down the road in Clinton, it's cheaper and has much better food. read more

I am beyond thrilled that Clinton has an establishment that offers fresh veggies besides your typical sub shop salad! I've had my fair share or Korean Japanese and Thai food around the US and this please gets the job done good. I visited tonight after flying back from a trip, granted I was famished hours ago when landing at Logan airport I talked my mother into going to dinner for some 'non spicy' food.... My mother can't even eat salsa never mind spicy stuff yet I assured her there would be a little bit of everything and I was right! We came in tonight around 8/830 on a Friday evening and I was disappointed it wasn't busier! The noise level was average with four tables occupied. We were seated and had our drink order taken in a timely manner; the staff was great very polite, well dressed, and had great suggestions. We started off with Thai iced tea and the fresh spring rolls that's served with a sweet and slightly spicy sauce. I had the miso coupe that had a good amount of tofu. For entrees we both had 'create your own' veggies and chicken in a broth based sauce with sides of brown rice. My mother enjoyed the ginger with chicken while I had the broccoli with crispy chicken. Overall I am very pleased with my visit this evening, the service, and price. The only con is a personal preference of mine.... The crispy chicken was dark meat which I'm not a huge fan of yet it was made well as it wasn't overcooked or too oily which dark meat can be. I hope this place stays put because I'm sick of driving out of town for dinner when I visit town, or settling for pizza or subs. I definitely prefer Similan Bistro over Fung Wung any day! read more

WOW! Just like that..my heart lit up with the warm fuzzy feeling when you know you found a GEM! My husband and I came on a Saturday night *sushi night* due to a couple of friends who recommended this restaurant. In love.. we had a variety of options from the menu: Singha (beer) Silver Sampler (appetizer) Shrimp Pad Thai (noodles) Tiger Tear (beef) Crazy Maki (sushi) I posted pictures of all the delicious options. Great Thai dishes!!! Very reasonably priced. We only found this place several weeks ago when I had to pick up something at Shaw's. Very friendly owner, hostess & waitress. The place is very spacious, and has a comfortable setting. Plenty of parking as it is in a shopping plaza. We eaten here a couple times for lunch, and they have excellent service. The food was delicious, if you like hot & spicy. The waitress check often to make sure the clients are happy and if they need anything. I took my brother here for lunch who also liked the Thai dishes. I love the soft shell crab they served. My favorite Thai dish is the Spicy Basil Pad Thai with Seafood (shrimp, scallop & squid) or with Softshell crab. Well worth trying, and plan to be a regular customer! There are many other dishes to try. BTW - besides serving Thai, the also serve Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese dishes. Yum!!!! Very good delicious food. My biggest complaint are the portion sizes. For a dinner dish, which is quite expensive, you get very small dishes, like a smaller lunch portion. In contrast with other Thai restaurants that I tried, this place has the smallest portions and are on the more expensive side. read more

Great food, I'm starting to love this place more and more. I am new to Thai food, but I am starting to try other places as well and I keep coming back to this place. I have yet to have anyone top their Pad Thai. I cant complain about anything else I have tried on the menu. I try something new every time I go in and am never disappointed. They also have a Sushi bar open through the weekend only, I wish it was open all the time as it is really fresh and they have a very decent sushi menu. I never thought I would find a good sushi place in Clinton but I have. Friday - Sunday after 5p you gotta check out the sushi bar! I am definitely becoming a regular here. Checked out Similan for the first time on a recent trip to see my family, as the Thai restaurant I wanted to go to in Leominster (Thai Jasmine) is closed on Sundays. I read that they had a sizeable vegetarian section on their menu, and sure enough it didn't disappoint. I opted for the curry puffs, scallion pancakes, and tofu peanut dish. The curry puffs were definitely up there in terms of others I've had in the past, with a flaky sweet exterior and delicious potato/pea mash on the inside. The scallion pancakes, an odd item to see at a Thai restaurant (though this seemed more of a fusion Thai joint), was good but a little chewier than I would have preferred. Finally, the tofu peanut dish was full of perfectly steamed veggies, straightforward peanut sauce, and a good amount of tofu chunks. If you're vegan/vegetarian and find yourself in the Clinton/Lancaster area, check this place out. In an area without a ton of options, this is a good one. read more

One of few Thai restaurants around the area, but it satisfies a quick fix of Thai food. They have great options, but unfortunately their menu online is outdated (and they haven't changed it yet) - so when I went to order, they didn't have any of the dishes I wanted. Not a huge problem, just needs to be updated! They actually don't serve any Japanese food, as their menu states. I think the food itself is alright. Good, but not outstanding. I like the pad Thai and pad see ew (flavorful and traditional), I just think it's a bit overpriced for the amount of food you receive. Picked up take out last Friday- Patch and all the ladies there were incredibly nice, place is beautiful, and best of all- food was delicious. Can't wait to try the whole menu!! Welcome to the neighborhood!! They didn't have their liquor license yet, or deliver, but said those are coming. A few more warming decorations and touches (maybe linens, rugs- maybe wall mount fireplaces- give it the glowy warm feel) as they get into to the swing, will likely make it 5 stars!! read more

I am so happy I found a new Thai restaurant. I've been going to Thai chili for years in Maynard and nothing compared to it. I recently moved to Clinton and this place is amazing. The country pad Thai is unbelievable. Best pad Thai I've ever had. I ordered the appetizer sampler and it was pretty good. The crab Rangoon, dumplings and Thai rolls where amazing from the sampler. The rest was good but I've had better. Will definitely be eating here again and again read more

My wife and I (with our napping daughter) stopped at Shaw's to pick up a few things just before lunch on 1/12/2013. We noticed this new Thai restaurant had opened in the plaza, and decided to give it a try -- we are happy we did! We ordered two entrees, and they brought us some salads while we waited. The salads were very fresh and had some sort of very light, delicious dressing on them. I tried the beef macadamia, and my wife tried their Pad Thai. Both were delicious! The waitress was very friendly -- we had a good time, and are happy to have a great new dining option in the area. read more

Horrible experience, 2nd time I eat here, last time ordered Yellow Curry Seafood. Veggies were raw, definitely raw. Went yesterday, I was sitting by the windows (closed) along with my daugther, she ordered large order of crag ranguns (nice look and tasty), and I order the same from before (Yellow Curry Seafood). For my displeasure was flies, few flies around my table, food, and on me and my daugther... I told waitress to pack everything as I was going to leave because the flies, as it was very annoying. For my surprise the owmer came over, and INSTEAD apologize she said: "Flies are coming thru the door, what you expect me to do ?" Well you draw your conclusions, if they cannot control insects inside their restaurant and DO NOT TAKE responsibility I am VERY concerned how they maintain the kitchen... Very RUDE business owner, disgusting flies, and denial of issues... STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE !!! OVERRATED !!! OVERPRICED TOO read more

The food at Similan is undeniably head and shoulders above other local Asian restaurants and we really want to like the place. As a new restaurant they are probably trying to figure things out, but in all four of our visits we encountered problems and a bit of attitude to boot. On our first visit we called them first, to see if we needed reservations, but the phone was busy for more than an hour. We mentioned this when we got there - apparently it was off the hook. This happened again, about a week later. I suspect they are leaving the phone off the hook to avoid being overwhelmed by take out orders. Not cool. A subsequent disappointment also involved a phone issue. We were looking forward to enjoying Thai take-out for our small party on Superbowl Sunday and called early to make sure we'd get our order in. The phone just rang and rang - no answer. Figured it was phone problems again. Drove down there to place the order. Sign on the door said closed for Super Bowl! No mention of this on website, facebook page, no message left for callers. When we expressed our disappoint on the next visit, the response was "Oh, you came on Sunday, you don't like the Super Bowl?" No clue. OK. Got my major peeves out of the way. The important thing is the food is really really good. Fresh. High quality ingredients. Definitely on the hot end of the spectrum - even the items rated as "single pepper hot" are very spicy. Personally, I would not dare to go "two peppers" high. Unfortunately when you ask them to make it less spicy, they take out ALL the zing (happened twice). That being said, Fisherman's Treasure, even without any hot, is super tasty, Country Pad Thai rules, satays are delectable, fresh spring rolls superb (but they do run out of them on occasion). Duck Noodle Soup is delish, shumai are unexciting. Portions are moderate - ordering 2 apps and 2 entrees for 2 yields minimal leftovers. Pricier than other local Asian restaurants, but worth it. Ambiance is very nice, table service is attentive and helpful, though sometimes slow, w/ occasional communication difficulties. Good news - liquor license pending - we look forward to having drinks with our meals here - it'll take the edge off the issues! read more

We've had takeout from here several times and it has always been good in the past, this review is just for my most recent visit, tonight. We put in a good-sized order of takeout sushi and sashimi over the phone. They advised it would take about 45 minutes, and verified we were OK with the wait. On my arrival 45 minutes later, they seemed confused and looked around for my order for a while. I think this was an avoidance tactic; after a few minutes they asked if I would like to order something else instead, because they were out of sushi rice and couldn't make my order. One waitress who was behind the counter said they could at least get my sashimi since it doesn't involve rice. But then the sushi chef turned around and advised he was out of fish as well, because the delivery truck had broken down today. So let's see..... they're almost out of rice and fish, yet they take my sushi order without question. OK, maybe the person answering the phone isn't aware of the situation, but I would think that at some point in the next 45 minutes SOMEONE would realize my order couldn't be filled. If that happened, nobody called me back to tell me this. Basically I sat around starving and anticipating delicious sushi for an hour, and now instead I'm eating deli meats at home. The sake I bought to go with my delicious sushi doesn't pair especially well with a turkey sandwich. (But I digress, this isn't supposed to be a review of the cuisine in my home.) Anyway, I'm not going to lie and say I'll never be back..... this is the only option in town for sushi, and I have had good experiences in the past. But this was really a pretty ridiculous screw-up, and I hope they can do better in the future. I will say this... the sushi is the only reason I'll be back. We have another choice in town for Thai food, and they'll get my business when I want Thai. ****EDITED NEXT DAY**** Management called me today to apologize and gave me a voucher for a future meal. Normally I would give this restaurant a better review. However, I was very disappointed this evening when I got home and opened my order. I ordered the tofu yellow curry- which in the menu says it comes with jasmine rice. The restaurant's menu on their website lists the dish at $1.00 cheaper than charged in store (not a huge inconvenience as I understand prices go up). However- the amount of rice I received with the curry is quite humorous. Honestly it equals maybe 4 rounded teaspoons of rice. I'm not sure who decided to offer less than one serving of rice with a container of curry that could be split into 2-3 servings. Drove all the way from Worcester to eat here. The food was really good. The crispy chicken pad Thai was a nice change from the regularly prepared chicken for this particular dish. The scallion pancakes were fried to a crispy perfection and came with a yummy dipping sauce. When I visit Mass. again I'll definitely stop for a meal. read more

This is a long overdue review. I've been meaning to leave a comment, but never got around to creating a yelp account. A while back, we decided to check out this restaurant. The food was okay and the service was decent (at first, but more details later). I ordered the Chicken Tom Yum noodle soup and all seemed good. We asked for the check and everything looked normally, so we handed over our credit card. Next is the reason for the 1 star rating. The waitress returns, drops off our bill and cc receipt to sign. She doesn't say a word. My husband was just about to sign the receipt, but noticed the ENTIRE bill had items crossed off and items added... The entire bill amount had been adjusted and increased!!! What the heck? We called the waitress over and asked what happened to our bill and why all the scribbles? Apparently, they made a mistake with the Chicken Tom Yum soup. Instead of giving me what I had ordered AND what was written on her notes, they made the Shrimp Tom Yum instead. Geesh... I guess my bad for not noticing. I guess everything really does taste like chicken. But damn - what a sneaky move!!!! 1st issue - it was their mistake. They should have sucked it up and not upcharge us. Good thing I'm not allergic to seafood. 2nd issue - tell us about it beforehand and I would be okay with paying extra. Don't just adjust our bill AFTER we hand over our cc and hope we don't notice the new charges... This was our 1st and final visit there. Very dishonest!!! read more

Unfortunately, Similan committed the cardinal sin of charging WAY more than their listed price for takeout. I ordered a chicken Pragraw, which is listed on both the online menu and the paper menu i picked up with my order as $10.95. I was charged a flat $16.00. I know this is taxachusetts, but we don't have a 33% meal tax! And again, this was takeout, there was no service charge involved. Its really unfortunate, because the food is really pretty good - I'm giving them one star over the minimum just for that. I should have said something about being so egregiously overcharged, but it was the end of a very long day. I hope that extra $5 is worth losing a potential regular customer. Like to try various dishes. Some were 'good' not great. Some were regrettable. Since the beginning of 2020, I noticed their take-out portions are menial. When I get a dinner portion, I expect to get 2 meals out of it, but the containers are only filled to 75% capacity. This is consistent with all of the main dishes. Bottom line is that it's very expensive for the portions received. This is the better Thai restaurant in Clinton, but does not compete for the area. Improve your portions like others say. read more

Pretty standard suburban Thai restaurant. We went with a red curry and the country pad thai. Both were fine, but nothing stood out. The pad thai wasn't spicy at all while the red curry had a hint of heat to it. I guess Similan will do the trick if you live in Clinton and have a craving for Thai food, but most towns have a Thai restaurant at least this good. read more

i like Thai food, but I have only tried a small number of Thai dishes, would like to try more. Today I ordered the Tom Yum Noodle soup, which was a full meal in itself ($8.50) I loved the combinations of flavors and if you ever had a cold/flu, I imagine this dish would help with that. - next time, I will just get a small bowl of the soup, so that I can try something else as an entree. Also, for soup lovers, there are several kinds and options, I would like to try more, I had some of my husbands vegetarian style with tofu and it was very good, with a nice veggie broth flavor. We had the silver sampler appetizer platter and it was good, but really seemed to be overcooked, spending too much time in the fryer, so it was hard. Also the items were pretty small in size, which is standard, but a little more filling would have been good. the crab rangoon was fresh and had a unique taste. Looking through the menu, there are many wonderful looking dishes and options. Looking forward to trying the mango fried rice and some of the Pad Thai options next time. read more

I've been to this restaurant several times with my family. They have always been extremely nice every time! Just recently learned that they have Pho chicken. It was very good! I was there recently and tried a house beer, also very good!! Great place to frequent with either family or friends! I will be a regular for the Pho Chicken! read more

We have eaten here approximately six times and enjoy the food quite a bit. I always go for the spicy pad Thai and or country pad Thai. We also have had the regular pad Thai and house rice. We always do takeout, but the restaurant is very clean and the staff is friendly. I would recommend anyone that likes Thai food to give this new restaurant a shot. I would much prefer this to pizza or Chinese food - which used to be our standard take out options. Good portion size and you can choose your level of spiciness. There is quite a large menu with Thai, Korean and Japanese options. I enjoy what I get enough that I have not branched out yet. Will try a red curry dish next. So happy to have found this restaurant so close to home. Only suggestion would be to have the tofu pieces be a bit larger in the dishes and have a bit more consistency in amount of meat in the dish. Great good, cheap prices, and a wide variety. They are friendly and have a great menu that is low priced especially for the taste. Only complaint is the lack of real open bar, and that on New Years Eve, although we ordered 2 days ahead of time I still waited for 35 minutes past the time it should have been done with guests at my house. Yes I realize it was New Years Eve, but a call to alert me of the delay, or even a short wait would have been very nice. read more

This place has more Thai influence than Korean and Vietnamese. I ordered the Tamarind Duck with vegetables and white rice and it was very good. The atmosphere was clean and trendy. This was our first time at this restaurant. Pros: Clean, cloth napkins (not paper) the tea was good, the food was hot (temperature wise - not cold), portion sizes were adequate. The food came quickly, before the appetizers even got eaten. Cons: The PadSeeYou could have been a little less dry. It needed more sauce. The waitress was a Nervous Nelly. She was hovering too much, kept coming back too much to ask how things were or to ask if she could clear dishes. It was like she was trying to keep herself busy. There was only us and another family there at the time. I had to tell her to go away. The waitress also sat us next to the other family of which was a little noisy. There were more than 10 other tables in the restaurant that we could have been seated at. She hovered over them, too. read more

This is my go-to place for Thai in the area - always fresh and tasty. The chicken satay is outrageously good, and I could seriously bathe in the peanut dipping sauce that comes with it. The fresh rolls are always good, but my favorite is the panang curry. It has just the right amount of heat, balanced with a coconut sweetness that is amazing. It has baby corns (yay!), Snow peas, green beans, broccoli and comes with rice. The pad Thai is always a decent choice too. read more
