Parking can be a bit tight in this plaza, but I usually find a spot near the nail salon on the other size of the building. Been waiting to check this place out for Happy Hour and finally got around to it with friends. Happy Hour is daily with $3 off all appetizers (not just selected as the menu says) in addition to drink specials. We ordered a few apps to share and had: - Chips with Guacamole and Salsa: solid - Queso Fundido: I was excited for this as friends have said they liked it, but the cheese harden within minutes and it wasn't as nice - Street Style Esquites: I was expecting more corn rather than mixed in another cheese dip and likewise, the cheese harden quickly. - Shrimp cocktail: it was pretty heavy on the liquid rather than thicken, but good - 3 potato tacos: okay, wasn't expected it to be fried so it was a bit greasy but loved the slaw it came with - Southwest egg roll: not bad, was a crowd's favorite and I liked the sauce it came with We didn't realize most of the apps came with tortilla chips otherwise we may have ordered differently. I got the frozen margarita and it was a bit sweet, but nice for the summer evening. Our server wasn't super attentive, but was nice whenever they came around. There's a sampler entree platter I'd like to try, but of all the appetizers we tried, the best was probably the chips with guacamole and salsa.
I tried Ghost Ranch again and this time I had a much better experience. I had the vegan entree called Plato Vegano and it was excellent They forgot the quinoa, but they ended up bringing me a side of it. The tofu was prepared really well- thick cuts, crispy on the outside but soft in the middle. Vegetables were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The Cadillac Margarita is great and they offer happy hour every day.
We were looking for a nice Mexican restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday. Ghost Ranch hit a lot of our requirements: - Service is great. Our server was friendly, attentive, and filled us in about other things the restaurant offers during their brunch and lunch service that weren't on the dinner menu. -Portions are generous and made with care. I had the mesquite grilled skirt steak tacos. I liked the charro beans, tender meat, and they had no problem subbing crema for the guacamole. You have to buy your own chips here which has become a more common occurrence. We ordered the chips, salsa and guacamole and could take advantage of the happy hour price. The salsas lacked a little bit of heat in our opinion but overall everything we had in our meal was nicely presented and tasty. My husband's horchata was an example of this. Overall, we appreciated the engagement from the staff and enjoyed our food.
Ghost Ranch offers a fresh take on Southwest favorites. The menu has a variety of selections from potato tacos to enchiladas to green chile cornbread eggs Benedict. Even with a smaller menu, it was hard to decide. I went with the tres leche French toast which was as delicious as it was beautiful.We shared the green chile cornbread appetizer--it was a little sweet, a touch spicy, and thoroughly tender. You're missing out if you don't try it! The service was delightful--the staff was attentive, friendly, and joked with our table. Overall, this was a pleasant brunch/lunch experience and I will definitely go back!
4/24/26 First visit, not my last! Ghost Ranch has been bookmarked for close to a year. Given I spent the first have of the day Training at Chandler PD event w/o eating my Hangry was undeniable. Parking 3/5 Arrived ~12:30 to a completely full parking lot. The Resturant shares parking with numerous businesses and another popular eatery Postino's. We spent 10-15 minutes circling like a commercial airliner waiting for the tower to direct our decent. We finally parked at Postino's and walked to the Ranch. Atmosphere 5/5 What was in-store for atmosphere was signaled by their Rooftop Mascot poised and ready-to-gore. This is the perfect "Branding" and "I am here" statement. Inside your eyes are taken numerous directions with the use of colors, architectural and interior design features including unique ceilings, southwestern artwork and decor. Clean, inviting, and simple with intention. Service 5/5 We were greeted by a welcoming Hostess who asked us for our seating preference and to our surprise immediately seated us. Our Server today was Rylee S. She greeted us promptly inquired if it was a Fisrt visit which it was. Rylee filled us in on all their extensive Beverage offerings, specials, and customer favorites. She took our Tea orders and gave us time to look over their Bruch menu. I was curious about a number of items that Rylee explained well. Let the sampling begin! Food 5/5++ The menu suggests influences of New Mexico style cooking. We ordered as starters Queso Fondido 5/5+ Amazing blend of ingredients that worked well together, the chorizo added a perfect standout reminder every few bites. This could be a lite bite or starter shared. Street style Esquites 5/5 Wonderful blend of cheeses skillet cooked on top of their corn kernels and grilled vegetables. This was a pleasant surprise, it too had some unique flavors going on with a hint of sweetness. Side of Corn tortillas 5/5 They nailed their Tortillas recipe. Perfect yellow corn flavor and thickness for use with their Queso. These are tie for to my favorite Resturant Corn Tortillas. Entrees Pork Enchiladas. 10/5 Chimayo chile braised pork Although they were billed as NM style red sauce they weren't and that was ok because the flavor of their Red sauce is wonderful and so much so, these I will return for! Red Chile breakfast burrito w/extra Ghost seasoning. 5/5 Incredibly huge burrito stuffed with rice, charro beans, scrambled eggs, Oaxaca cheese, cream, pico de gallo. Most of this ginormous burrito came home for leftovers. Pro-tip The burrito tasted even more delicious for lunch day two. Service by Rylee was gracious, attentive never having to ask for anything. Talk about an amazing Taco Tuesday!! $7 margaritas, $3-4 street tacos, discounts on appetizers. You better get here early or there's a wait. This is a beautiful restaurant with great service and amazing food. The chicken and carne asada tacos were our favorites.
First time at Ghost Ranch today, it was pretty good! Nice casual Southwest style restaurant with beautiful decor. Parking was extremely easy, they have a decent sized lot with spots on 2 sides of the building. They do not take reservations, but the wait was reasonable during dinner for a larger party. Drinks are good, they have a nice selection of cocktails and wine. I ordered the Arnold Palmer and it was fresh but could have been a bit more flavorful (was a bit too light). Food is good! Loved the cornbread- it was a nice balance of sweet and spicy. May be too spicy for some. Loved the corn bits inside and the pepper jam(?) on top. Ordered the Chicken Poblano Pasta sub Steak and it was good, worth the price. Flavorful and unique with the cream sauce, corn, cilantro, and onion. Service was also great. We were well cared for. I do feel there are so many other good Southwestern style restaurants in the Tempe/AZ area, but this is also good and I would come back when I'm back in town.
We've been to Ghost Ranch several times now, but this was our first time for brunch -- and it absolutely delivered. Everything we ordered was as strong as any of the dinner entrees we've had here. We had the Ghost Ranch Benedict, pozole, and shared the green tomatillo breakfast burrito, along with sides of rice & beans, potatoes with chimi aioli and queso fresco, plus chips with guacamole and salsa. The burrito was massive (definitely shareable) and perfectly done with chicken, rice, eggs, cheese, and pico. The Benedict stood out with its cornbread base, chorizo, avocado, poached eggs, and hollandaise -- all balanced and executed beautifully. Service was polished and professional throughout. Ghost Ranch continues to impress -- now firmly a go-to for both dinner and brunch.
We love Ghost Ranch andit gives such a fun New Mexico vibe. They have a great happy hour during the week, and the food is always delicious. The bartenders are wonderful and super helpful with recommendations, which we always appreciate. Our go-to drink is the Pretty Frosé and it's a must! Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. It's one of our favorite spots we keep coming back to.
The ambiance and service is very good. I ordered the Fuego margarita, which only suffered from being too small lol. We also got the chips, salsa and guacamole, which was delicious: fresh, well seasoned. For entrees we had the steak burrito, the roasted corn salad with chicken added, and the southwest bowl with chicken. The only complaint was the texture of the tortilla shells; they were very thick and rather chewy. I found the bowl underseasoned. The salad, however, was absolutely fabulous. Overall this is a nice place, but we won't rush to return...eapecially with the terrible parking.
Visited for the first time last week during happy hour. They have specials on appetizers and drinks. The food was decent. Some dishes were better than others. The ribs were kind of salty but very tender. The tres leches desert was very good. Our waiter was nice and attentive. The manager was phenomenal. The service was what really stood out to me.
The star of the show was the corn dip, that has a much cooler name than that. It was so good, as was my $13 lemon drop on happy hour special which runs from 3-6 pm. The steak burrito didn't have much steak in it at all so it was more like eating a lettuce and cheese burrito and then every few bites you'd get a piece of steak. The salsas were really good, but the guacamole was just mid. The entire table was under-impressed considering how well reviewed this place is.
Pro-tip: A must try restaurant! Highlights: Honestly it's been a long time since I've been thoroughly impressed at a new restaurant! I can't believe this place has been on my list for so long and it's taking me years to come here, but I'm glad I finally did. The food tastes delicious, the portions are very generous and the price is justified. The southwest chicken pasta literally comes with half of a chicken. From the pork chop, the salads, the Ranchos papas, the cornbread, the tres leches dessert - it was alllll good. I love the variety - definitely something for everyone. The service is really good and they were really understanding when we accidentally stayed past their closing time. Lowlights: The chocoflan really wasn't for me. Not a huge deal, but I felt like part of the restaurant was a little drafty so it was colder than I was expecting and wish I brought a jacket.

Judging by the reviews of this place my husband and I thought we were in for a great lunch! While we did enjoy our meal, we agreed overall that none of the dishes wowed us or had enough flavor or seasoning. App- we shared the queso fundido which is a white cheese and chorizo skillet that comes with fresh corn tortillas for dipping. Con: wasn't flavorful, somehow the cheese and chorizo fell flat which is hard to do since chorizo is normally so flavorful! But the corn tortillas were obviously fresh, and made from scratch in the kitchen- they were amazing! Meal- I had the chicken enchiladas with beans and rice. Same issue, the enchiladas were good but bland, and the dish came with white rice which I thought was odd for a Latin restaurant. The beans were "meh" flavor wise. Meal- my husband had the steak tacos. The steak was great, super moist and cooked well, but he had the same complaint about the overall lack of flavor. 4 stars for the service, 3 for the food. Again, there was nothing particularly bad about the meal but there was a lot left to be desired- especially for the price point of this restaurant. Will probably not be back. read more

Let's start with $2 tacos during happy hour that taste amazing. The carne asada was so fresh and flavorful as well as the pork. If you are looking for traditional Mexican food this is the place for you. The tacos had a lot of flavor and the tortillas are amazing. They taste fresh and just how they make them in Mexico. The salsas lacked flavor but the tacos made up for it. If you are coming for happy hour I recommend sticking to the tacos and the margaritas. The esquite and choriqueso were also very good but it's on the heavier side. We also tried the chocolate cake with espresso ice cream and pepitas... IT WAS GREAT! Not too sweet and a perfect bite, the pepitas added great flavor to it. As a Hispanic who knows about traditional Mexican food this place is it! The aesthetic is also so cute and not tacky at all. I would bring my family here to try it! read more

Ghost ranch has unique foods and great hamburgers but we had a problem today. our server was great but another server was grossing us out with her antics swinging her long black hair all over and using her hand in hair running it over her locks...swinging her hair all over. We witnessed her touching her hair and then someone's soup bowl. Now, we just will not be going here anymore! it's very touchy...a patron's trust is earned especially important is attitude where this employee could only reassure us that she won't be touching OUR food. eww sorry other patrons you can suffer her possible...even probable dandruff or other. One more point, why is this server the only person who has not taken 2.402 of the food code seriously the only one here who has not pulled her hair back? read more

Enjoyed lunch here with my other half...and clearly discovered why this place was dubbed a "Best New Restaurant" by PHOENIX magazine. The atmosphere and service were exceptional. And so was the food. I loved the loaded chicken-and-rice bowl and my cohort in crime relished the steak tacos. And because it was a day off for the two of us, we each sipped a margarita. (Okay, two. Don't judge.) After our entrees and purely out of curiosity, we had to try that Chile Chocolate Cake with Avocado Lime Sauce. It was fantastic and one of the best restaurant desserts I've had in recent memory. Perhaps the best part of the lunch? After living in the East Valley for 35+ years, it's nice to visit a top-notch restaurant without having to drive into Phoenix. Woo hoo! Delicious!! I loved the variations on southwestern/Mexican flavors. The wait can get long, especially on a weekend night but I think well worth it. When I went with my parents we waited about an hour but they texted us when the table was ready and we were also able to sit in the back waiting area and start out with some delicious spicy margaritas and an appetizer. We chose the cheese crisp which was recommended to us by the server, it's kind of like a large Mexican pizza with beans instead of tomato sauce, lots of cheese, chorizo and seasonal vegetables, when we were there it came worth shiitake mushrooms, cilantro and fried parsley on top. The shiitake mushrooms were surprising with these Latin flavors but worked fabulously, it was a perfect crunchy, savory, spicy, and umami filled appetizer. My mom got the pumpkin soup, which was a very large portion and a little heavy with what I thought was a little too much cream in it, but had good flavor. We all shared the jicama orange salad, which was crunchy, fresh and flavorful, as well as the pollo asado and the Chile relleno. The pollo asado was perfectly cooked, well seasoned and had perfectly crispy skin, and came with delicious cheesy polenta which I always enjoy. The chile relleno was an interesting take on a typical chile relleno with steamed poblano pepper instead of fried and stuffed with mushrooms in a goat cheese sauce, I did miss some of the crispy texture, and cheesy flavor of a traditional Chile relleno, but was a unique twist had good umami flavor, would definitely recommend if you like mushrooms. All of the staff was extremely kind and accommodating and the decor was fun and interesting! read more
We were close by so we decided to try Ghost Ranch for lunch. We were quickly seated and our drink orders taken. The menu is actually not that large, so we decided quickly. My wife tried the Aztec Cake (described as LAYERED TORTILLAS, PULLED CHICKEN,ROASTED GREEN CHILE, SWEET CORN, CHEESE BLEND) and really liked it. I had the pork enchiladas which came with ranchero beans and rice. I was also happy with my choice. They get very flavorful corn to make their tortillas, which was a nice touch. I also noticed my ranchero beans had some pork in them and I suspect if I ordered chicken they would have chicken in them. The service was decent, but not great. We were happy we tried the place and might come back of close by again. read more

This is an awesome new restaurant in the area! I went in with a group of about 15 and the host staff was welcoming and very accommodating. We were sat at the high top table near the open kitchen so we could see all the action go on. Our waitress, Kayla, was also very accommodating with our large group and helped us do split checks, she was great! Now, the food is where it's at! I split the queso fundito app with a few people, and it was unbelievable. Served with fresh handmade tortillas...nothing can compare to fresh tortillas! For our main, we also split the sampler platter which had two different enchiladas, steak, and a chille rellano on it. The flavors were so rich and different, it was a very well put together dish. I had the frozen rosé cocktail and it was very refreshing for being in the desert! I recommend going early, since it is a hot spot the place was packed. read more

I came here for brunch with a friend. The atmosphere is cute, very southwest, I loved that there were plenty of booths and they had throw pillows on the seats. Nice touch! The place was less than half filled, so there was no wait. I got the chilaquiles and they were delish! I would've liked more cheese but they were so good. The tortilla chips stayed crispy, which is key. I feel like a lot of of the time, they get soggy halfway through the meal. My friend got the green tomatillo breakfast burrito and she said it was really tasty. The food has a good amount of flavor and spice and the portions are generous. The margaritas could be stronger and bigger for the price. Service was decent. We waited longer than we should have to order, but the drinks and food came out at a reasonable time. The delicious aromas of firewood, spices and food combined with the sounds of flamenco guitars playing on the speakers was my first impression. Very nice start... i ordered the sampler and everything was delicious. Will definitely come back! read more

We had an amazing dinner here! Started with the chips/guac, cheese crisp (pictured- my fav thing), and both got the Sampler (great because you can try few diff things). I was extremely impressed with the quality for the price. The steak was soooo good. Service was super attentive and I love the aesthetic of this place. Perfect for a semi casual lunch or dinner. read more

Is this a nicer restaurant that I should dress business casual for, or am I okay to show up in a t-shirt and sweatpants?
I think you should be ok to wear a t-shirt and sweatpants. I wore jeans and a t-shirt with no issue. It's a pretty casual restaurant with great food.
Any offers for birthday dinners?
They do have a VIP mailing list that has various offers and specials included with signing up. They have the cards to sign up at the hostess desk.

Sadly no, you have to go to the sister restaurant next door, Tempe Public Market Cafe

Yes, of course. The menu that was being used was still be structured prior to official opening. It was important not to slant peoples selection with pricing.
