He asked several questions and started to give me a quote when he stopped and said, based on what I needed, he was going to suggest another moving company that is great and will be more reasonably priced for my move. I located Get Your Move On on Yelp. I was determined to use a reputable moving company after our previous moving company damaged over $7,000.00 worth of our belongings. I actually told the first person I contacted at Get Your Move on about my paranoia due to our previous move. He assured me they would take great care of us and that we would have a positive experience. Still skeptical, I had one of the guys come out and meet with my husband beforehand to give us an estimate and we booked them for our move. The day of the move, I of course did not have everything packed. The guys came in, all introduced themselves to me and shook my hand and packed up the rest of my stuff in less than an hour (I should have just had them pack up all of the stuff, they were so fast and efficient!) The move was probably the fastest I've ever experienced, and they wrapped up all of my furniture to ensure it was not damaged. I seriously don't think any of the guys even took a break until the truck was fully loaded. You know how many moving companies claim that you can just sit back and let them do all the work? That has never been the case for me, but these guys were so fast, my husband and I literally sat on the balcony and had a drink while they did their thing. The unload went just as well. I told the owner of the company that I have never had such a great experience with movers. These guys were amazing. The trucker that brought my shipping container to my storage unit was 5 hours late, and the guys had already come to the storage unit to move my stuff once, and had to turn around and go back. Ryan called me and kept up to date on the whole day, and made sure I would still have movers to help me hours later. They even sent an extra guy free of charge to help me out. I was dealing with my mom's stuff, and she is recently deceased, while also carrying around my 4 month old baby, so it was definitely an amazing relief to have such amazing helpful guys come out and move everything so quickly, efficiently, and carefully. This company is as good as it gets! We have moved cross country with corporate movers a couple of times, but this was our first "do it yourself" move, 30 minutes across town. I did some serious research and called Get Your Move On. The office staff is great - answered my questions and were able to give me a "ballpark" idea over the phone. When our move was bumped up sooner, I panicked, called and they had someone out the next day to give me a firm quote. Their professional communication sold me right out of the gate. After each phone conversation, I received a follow-up email stating when my appointment would be and then a photo and short bio of the person who would be coming to my home. I appreciated that immensely. Movers arrived and I can not say enough nice things about them. These guys worked long and hard ALL DAY LONG! We had an unexpected delay getting the keys, so they took a long lunch and didn't charge us. The minute we were able to get in, they were right there and quickly unloading. They took precautions with my paved driveway, the stone and wood flooring and my belongings! Not one single item was damaged - not one! No walls were dinged, no desks nicked - NOTHING AT ALL WAS DAMAGED! It was a long day due to the distance and the fact that we had half of our stuff in storage while we were showing our home. They made two trips and worked late. The entire time they were kind, smiling, and friendly. The entire time they worked steady - I was exhausted and they kept on like it was the beginning of the day. I used them for a recent move - moving 1 2,400 sq ft house to another house and then putting a bunch of stuff on from the 2nd house and moving to a nearby storage facility. 1. The team was good - 1 team lead pro (Rene'), 1 old guy and 1 college kid. The team lead managed the college kid and kept him on a tight leash. The old guy rocked - I hope I'm in as good a shape when I'm 60ish. They did good work and on a 115 degree day only took a couple of short breaks. They were happy guys and very positive. 2. Upsell - the team lead upsold me on several things but did it so professionally that it wasn't annoying or pushy. For example, the items being put in storage he wrapped with plastic wrap and moving blankets and he convinced me it was smart to keep them wrapped in storage to protect the furniture. 3. Breakage - despite their efforts a picture frame (4' x 2') glass was broken. They had a guy come pick it up, take it away and get it fixed, and return it. No paperwork. No pain. 4. The company is small. I spoke with one of the owners (Roger?) when I scheduled and another (Derek) when I worked on my broken window issue. I was extremely pleased with their attitude and friendliness. Those that read my Yelp reviews will see that I like catching people and companies doing well - I only rate poorly when the people are jerks or the company performance is really bad. I found Get Your Move On when I was searching online for movers in Tempe and was really intrigued by Derek's (owner's) really modern, professionally done website as this isn't common in the moving industry. I did some research on Yelp and saw that they also had the best reviews (31 people gave them 5 stars) and a discount package so I inquired with them for a moving quote. I'm a very busy executive for a technology company so taking phone calls between the hours of 7am to 7pm is almost impossible for me. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to initiate my move quote by dialogue with Derek directly through Facebook messaging and their team made every effort to contact me to get me the info I needed over the course of a very busy week for me. Derek even took my request to be contacted via text message instead of phone call (way easier for me during the day) into consideration. So the move details: I was moving from a 3rd story (with another set of stairs inside), 2 bedroom condo in Tempe to a second story condo in Scottsdale. Derek quoted 3-5 hours for the move with an hourly move rate plus a trip/truck fee. On moving day, my movers contacted me a few hours before my scheduled moving window to let me know that they finished their job early and to see if they could come sooner. They arrived right on time, explained the process, and were very friendly and courteous. A few hours in I started to worry that we were going to run over the estimated move time (lots and lots of stairs in late July heat) and my budget wouldn't allow for that. One of my movers called Derek to share my concerns, who approved that they could finish the job for the maximum quotes hourly estimate (5 hours) rate, even if they went over. They helped me get all of the furniture set up at the new place and put all of the boxes in the appropriate rooms for me. I'm still unpacking but nothing appears so far to have been damaged and everything did arrive. The move took 7 hours in total and they only charged me for 5. I forgot about the Yelp offer until today when I just went to write this review and though I could have saved $140 or so, I'm good with it since they gave me the two free moving hours. This is now the second time I have used 'Get Your Move On' and both times have been incredibly great. So great, in fact, that it was very disappointing to read the negative review below when both of my experiences have been fantastic. If you are considering this company, I hope that you look at the extremely positive reviews left by myself and others who have experienced their service personally. I have now used them to move out of house and into a condominium complex, as well as most recently, trusting them to get my belongings from Phoenix, AZ to San Francisco, CA. If you have moved before, you know that the difference between a cross-town move and a multi-state move is not one to be taken lightly and demand different levels of planning and coordination. On both occasions, they handled each incredibly well. They were always punctual, well staffed, prepared, friendly and careful with my belongings. They worked well with the property management company and respected not only my personal belongings, but also the properties I was moving in and out of. We would have never known if it was taken--they knew that (the way it was found--it was quite obvious no on had see it in years), but these guys took the higher road in returning it to us which is great. b) labor charging Since they were paid by the hour, working slowly could have meant more pay. However, these guys gave their best effort to get the work done as quickly as possible. We also gave away of a few large furniture items which they decided to take, but they refused to handle it until they were off my clock! 2. Punctuality I was given a 2 hour time window, and the guys made it within the first 30 minutes of the window. Your experience may vary, since it depends on their travel time, and time to complete their previous job. In any case, the movers gave us a 20 minute warning call before they arrived. 3. Management Roger (manager/owner) accommodated my move at the very last minute after my previous moving arrangement reneged on our agreement. He was able to get me a booking with less than 24 hrs notice! In addition, he called me after the move to ensure the service met my expectations. I just moved from Tempe to Mesa last week and I have a extremely positive moving experience with GYMO. Derek came out to my home and gave me a great assessment of what it cost and how long it would take. Very helpful and friendly, and certainly appreciate his flexibility with the schedule throughout the week. I didn't know when I would be getting the keys to the house, and be ready to move in, though GYMO was very understanding and willing to oblige. During the move, the movers were very helpful, and careful with everything, utilizing many resources that previous mover didn't use: door frame cover, curb guard, plenty of blankets and bands to keep everything protected. We've all heard horror stories about Movers. I will tell you that we have never dealt with a more professional company whether they are moving company or not. Get Your Move on is extremely reliable, they have the best follow up of any company I've ever dealt with. They moved us over a year ago and one piece of furniture was damaged. They sent someone out right away to repair it and they didn't quite get it right. We then started our remodel and all of our furniture went into storage so they waited patiently for almost a year until we pulled the piece of furniture back out. I moved from a 2nd floor 2 bed/2bath condo into a 1st floor 1bed/1bath apartment yesterday with GYMO. I purposely picked them because them moved me into my condo 3 years ago. On July 10, 2015, an awesome team of three carefully and efficiently moved my belongings up the stairs. One of the guys on the team put a lot of my smaller belongings into a bung of their wardrobe boxes and like Superman strapped each one of those boxes to his back and sprinted up the stairs into my condo. I've moved a lot in my life and I'd never seen anything like it. I knew when I moved again, I had to go with GYMO and I did. This year, Frank C, Paul L, and Matt T were just as phenomenal! Paul even risked bodily harm to make sure my couch safely made it into my new place. This company and this team are not your typical movers. Yes, they do everything they promise and then some. I mean, they come in a giant moving truck that blocks traffic in an average apartment complex for about an hour of loading or unloading. But instead of being like 'deal with it,' when my new neighbors had trouble getting around the truck, Matt actually asked if they should move. It's the above and beyonds like this that make me return to GYMO every time I move and recommend them to anyone who wants a professional mover. Now, as someone who lives on a budget, like all of us, I do want to say something about the cost. Like most good professional moving companies, GYMO isn't cheap. But you really do get what you pay for. They are worth every penny and then some. But, they understand that you're not made of money and they don't waste your time. They do everything they can to complete they move as quickly as possible and still treat all off your belongings with the utmost respect. This is my 1st time using a moving co. In doing research, I've found that there are many shady, bait and switch, hidden fees, hold your stuff hostage kind of moving companies out there. My real estate agent referred me to Get Your Move On. I then looked at their reviews and they have the best Yelp reviews in town....by far. I called, and after finding that they had available movers on my move date, made an appt for an in-person estimate. They didnt have time for over a week to come give the estimate, but because of this company's Yelp reviews and the referral from my RE agent, we had stopped looking at other movers and had already decided we were going to go with Get Your Move On, unless the estimate was exorbitant. Thry have an estimator on their website, so I already had a ballpark estimation, but it was $1600-$2300. Thats a big gray area there, so we were happy they suggedted coming for an in home estimate. Today, 8 days later, the day they finally had time to send an estimator, I receive a call asking if I have "wiggle room" on my moving date, because, lo and behold, they DO NOT have movers available on my move date and were wanting to know if I could push my move "from Friday until Sunday". Of course I can't! I cant stay after my closing date! And now I have to completely start over combing thru reviews for another company. Needless to say the estimator has been canceled and I am frantic I may not even be able to find a company now! Don't tell someone you can accomodate their move time, then just fill that time and think youre going to be able to get that customer to change their plans. That's called bait and switch, which I've come to find is the standard operating procedure of this industry! If it takes you 8 days to get an estimator to someones house, you need to keep those dates open or be able to get estimators out in a timelier fashion! From setting the initial appointment for the estimate to unloading the final box, the experience with Get Your Move On was exceptional. When Moses came out to provide an estimate, he made sure we understood what to expect so our moving experience would be stress-free. He was exceptionally detailed when discussing the estimate and also told me what could be charged if the move required additional trucks, supplies, time etc. As for the move itself, Miles and his team were superb! They were extremely polite and PROFESSIONAL. Miles called me when he was on his way and once he arrived, he walked me through the order, discussed what to expect, and then his team proceeded to get to work. They handled all our furniture, boxes and wrapped all our artwork and lamps with such care that you can tell that they genuinely cared that all our belongings arrive at our new house in the same condition they found them. As the day went on, it was clear that the initial estimate of 7-9 hours and 2 trucks wasn't going to be enough. That didn't stop them...after 14 hours and making another trip to fill up a third truck, the move was complete. While I know they were exhausted, not once did they complain or cut corners to get the job done faster. They were all true professionals!! Lastly, when it came time to settle up, I fully expected the cost to be substantially higher than the initial estimate. To my surprise, I was only charged $200 more for the additional 5-7 hours and additional truck. Miles said that you always try to honor the initial estimate and perhaps that estimate should have been higher. I have heard the stories of dishonest moving companies misleading customers with hidden costs, yet your company didn't charge me what was rightfully owed to you. AMAZING! It began with Derrick's efforts to communicate all of the steps in the process, what I should expect, etc. I sincerely appreciated his contact and follow up calls. The movers that came out (Ron, and 2 other guys) were phenomenal. Wrapping all of our furniture in pads to protect their exterior was key. A small touch that made their job easier, and I appreciate because it eliminated damage to my home, was the use of a small ramp for the doorway. Rolling dollies and wheeled carts in and out could have caused numerous scratches, not with these guys. They took their time to ensure no damage to our belongings, yet were able to move quickly so as not to run up the charge on us. I am thoroughly impressed with the guys that came to our home. Their rates are competitive with anyone in the valley for their level of service. The worst moving company I have ever used! The owner quoted me 5 hours to move 2 bedrooms, 1 office, 1 wine cabinet, 1 BBQ grill, 1 electric smoker. It took them 9 1/2 hours. They damaged furniture, walls and a ceiling of a brand new house. They also damaged a new handrail going upstairs. Everyone knew I was not happy about their service. This type of service must be standard as I did not hear from the owner. To top it off, I hold my real estate license with Re/Max Fine Properties. Never will they get a referral but I will let everyone know how bad they are. The only reason I am giving them 1 star is that they were on time to start the move. read more
