Family and brother's god family went to Gerry's Grill in Bellaire area of Houston. Specializing in Filipino Cuisine and I guess mama was really craving. Service was pretty decent. It did take a while to get our check at the end though. Otherwise our server was really sweet. Menu: Sago Gulaman; bruh listen: this is my all time favorite (dessert/drink) that I will never get tired off. Generally the glass was actually tall af but my angle made this drink look like a chode. But anyway, to me growing up, this was my OG "Bubble Tea". Apps: Calamares; Ya know, your generic calamari appetizer. It was actually good but coulda used more crunch and seasoning. Chicharron Bulaklak (Crispy Intestines); OhEmGee, my all time favorite traditional Filipino Street Food. Definitely reminisced on my younger times when I would visit the Philippines and then hearing in my head when mommy would yell at me because of how it's so bad for my cholesterol. Main Dishes: Crab Rice; okie, if I can be honest, this lacked flavor. I was so excited to eat it but once we ate it... idk. That's all I'll say for this. But presentation was okie for me. We went to Gerry's grill to try out a filipino restaurant in Houston (we are from Arizona). First off, when we came in, my eardrums almost exploded because the music of the band was SO LOUD. It was impossible to have a decent conversation in the restaurant with someone because the music is so so loud. We sat in the back, and it was still hard to hear anyone else speak. As for the food, the sisig was pretty good. I ordered it with the garlic rice, so pretty good combo. The mais con hielo was alright, I feel like I could have made it better to be honest lol. They offer delicious Filipino food which I've only tried on one occasion, but there will be a second occasion that's for sure. I believe they have friendzoning the place next door... wait I meant the same owner, I'm not sure who is getting friendzoned but I guess maybe they were too pushy or just not hot enough? She's just not that into you? Presotea is next door, shared or related owner perhaps, which has delicious Boba. So you should definitely visit both places. This is my second time at Gerry's grill. Food is great, but customer service can be better. I gave two starts because of the waitress who cashed me out. BTW, they don't hand you a paper copy of your receipt (which is fine, save the earth) but they instead come to the table, tell you what they are charging you for, take your card, swipe it for you, and give you directions on what to do next. The direction I was told was click here and sign, so I did just that, I clicked the button and signed (I'm thinking that the tip was included or that it would prompt me to do so, after I click the tab) but it did not, so the waitress rudely conveyed that the tip was not included, which I then replied and said I'm sorry I didn't know when I had to include the tip, but she rudely walked off and said let me get the receipt for you, which tells me that they aren't trying to save paper, it's a tactic that allows them to hover above you, to ensure that you tip them. I asked her if I could write down the tip on the receipt (I'm thinking that they could make adjustments to the receipt) but as she walked away rolling her eyes, she again rudely conveyed that it was not possible because I had closed out the ticket, which I can only assume could be reopened so that I could provide the tip. I understand that servers make their salary via tip, so I understood why she would be upset, but I did simply did not know how their systems work and my request to add the tip was rejected because I had already closed the tab, which can be reopened, I'm assuming. My first visit was exactly the same, click the tab and sign, so I did just that, this time, which I'm now realizing that the waitress had already added the tip. Which BTW, I noticed this too, when the waitress took my card, swiped it, and as I was reaching for my card back, she retracted it back and pushed the iPad towards me urging me to sign the iPad first before I could get my card back . For a Filipino establishment, my interactions has been either blatant disrespect or subtle inappropriate acts. I will never come back to this place again. read more

This Filipino restaurant is a must try! We went here on a Monday at noon and it was nice and empty so we knew we would get quick service. We ordered Pinakbet, sizzling sisig and kids BBQ with spaghetti. All so friggin yummy!!!! My 3 year old just loved her kids meal so much, they actually give a big portion. The sisig is definitely a want to go back type of dish and also makes you want to go to sleep because it's so good. I would love to come back here when a live band is playing. My family went on vacation in Galveston, TX last week. On the way back we passed by Gerry's Grill in Houston for lunch. We ordered Sago (Pearl or Tapioca) and Gulaman (Agar-Agar) drink, Bangus (Milkfish) a la Pobre, Chop Suey, a combination of veggies and meat, Pancit Bihon (Stir fried Rice Noodles with veggies), Lumpiang Shanghai (Spring Rolls), Pork BBQ, Sizzling Pork Sisig, Garlic Fried Rice and Beef Kaldereta (Beef Stew, Pinoy style). If you are familiar with real Filipino dish, you would be able to know the authentic Pinoy food that your Mom and Grandma cooked for your family in the Philippines. The sago/gulaman is lightly sweet and delicious. The bangus a la pobre was marinated and fried, excellent authentic dish. Their Chop Suey was made with similar taste at the Chinese/Filipino restaurants in Binondo, Manila where the local Chinatown in Manila is located. The pancit bihon is not fancy, lacks of proper ingredients than I expected, but taste good. The fried spring rolls taste great, not greasy. The pork bbq is the best bbq I've tasted among the Filipino restaurants I've been to in the State of Texas. Their sizzling pork sisig is not the authentic dish from Pampanga, but it taste good. The garlic rice need a little bit of salt, taste great. The beef kaldereta is my excellent choice! The meat is soft and the gravy is cheesy and delicious. Like the Batangas version. Serving staff are friendly and helpful. The ambiance is great. They have a Bar and weekend live music. They also have covered functions rooms where you can celebrate family events. The $$ Yelp code is fair. But I hope their servings should be more, fair enough for their customers. Like their pork bbq, 3 pcs at $12.99 its more than $4 each and beef kaldereta, $17.99 per order, which in my opinion is small serving. I gave them 5 stars, should've been more, based on the ambiance and real taste of Filipino dishes that they made. I wish they open a Gerry's Grill in Plano or North Dallas, Texas. They're the only restaurant that serves real Filipino food in the State of Texas. read more

This was the first Filipino restaurant I've been to and was kind of disappointed, the food is expensive and it looks like something you could just cook at home like the crispy pata, and grilled chicken. I did enjoy their sizzling sisig though, but like I said it's definitely overpriced for something you could just make at home. I enjoy the sauce but not enough is given for the quantity supplied. The restaurant is big and very spacious for large parties of people and our waiter was really friendly, and was very attentive to us. Next time I want Filipino food I'll just stick to catering options because I get more food for the same quality as this restaurant read more

Since moving to Houston, we've been to this location about 10 times and have noticed the lack of consistency in the quality of food. Service staff is always nice but the quality of how the food comes out varies. Every other time, which is about 50% of the the time, the food comes out steaming, piping hot and delicious and then the other 50% it comes out mostly lukewarm, lacking flavor. Always big on supporting local businesses but lukewarm sometimes cold food just doesn't cut it at any restaurant. With the exception of the tilapia or anything that's a fried fish, most of our stews, Kare Kare and even the crispy pata comes out lukewarm. Don't know about most folks but cold food is just a big yuk. Today's meal was no different, we hadn't been to Gerry's since the weekend of October 21st and were excited to celebrate my parent's anniversary with a nice meal. Again we were expecting a hot yummy meal like we did in a few weeks ago. Sadly, $127.00 later we ate lukewarm lumpia, lukewarm, no taste, Kare Kare, warm white rice and room temperature milk fish. But the zinger and what added to more disappointment than you can ever imagine was HOW they are now serving Halo Halo. We thought after our cold meal we could at least depend on eating a wonderful and delicious dessert that's served in this perfect glass bowl. Surprise. Halo Halo is now served in boba like, plastic drink cup. Prices haven't changed but the way it's presented in a plastic cup and given to you with a plastic spoon is so not right. In fact, it's a travesty to the halo halo as a dessert. When the waitress delivered the halo halo in the plastic boba drink cups we told her we didn't want it " to go, " and she said that " corporate, " changed how it's being served and we told her that for a $100+ meal we expected the halo halo in the glass bowl. She nicely explained away and said that "corporate, " dictated the changes and this is how halo halo was served. Ugh. Although disappointed we used our plastic spoons to try and mix the dessert the best we possibly could. Without a lot of room, we made do but we all vowed that it was the final straw of us ever returning because we could put up with a lot of things but ditching the perfect glass bowl the halo halo used to be served in completely cured us of returning here. NOTE TO GERRY'S CORPORATE: You can do so much better. Listen to your customers and #1 fix the consistency of how you deliver food to your hungry customers. Consistently deliver the food hot.
