Girlfriend was craving Filipino food so when we had a chance to swing by POST, we took the opportunity to check out Soy Pinoy. Wasn't too hard to find, right near one of the 'exits' of the food hall area. Some seating, but we had to sit much further back, near the boba shop. There's a few classics to choose from. My girlfriend got the lechon ("I've had better) and I got the lechon chicken, which was decent with their sauce/dressing but still perhaps a bit plain. While Filipino food is fairly uncommon in Houston, I don't think the value proposition is quite there. It's $20-30 for not that much food, and it took quite a while to get the food (I guess a plus because it's made fresh?). I feel like the pricing and wait is more for a typical sit-down restaurant rather than food hall concept.
Packed with flavor! Definitely worth the wait and priciness. The veggie pancit was full of veggies. The lumpia was fresh and crunchy but I would have loved just a little more filling. Both were and filled with vibrant Filipino flavors. Located in a great spot in the middle of the Post food court. There are a few tables inside of the restaurant area. Since it's in a food court you just order and they cook it up and you grab it. Seems fresh and they plate it up pretty.
Soy Pinoy is located inside POST Houston, so you get that open, hawker-style food hall setup with tons of first-come, first-serve seating. The space is massive and surprisingly comfortable, making it a great place to hang out if you're a foodie who likes options. There are indoor courtyards and even a rooftop with nice decor and city views--but I'll save my full POST Houston thoughts for another review. Now, onto Soy Pinoy, because this is where my senses officially took over. What pulled me in wasn't a sign or a menu--it was the aroma. The kind that makes you slow your walk and start scanning to see where it's coming from. Then I saw the display. They had several dishes laid out front and center, plated beautifully on banana leaves, looking crisp, golden, and downright tempting. At that point, it felt less like choosing food and more like being chosen by it. I ordered two dishes. The pork dish was fine--no complaints--but it didn't really wow me. Solid, but not something I'd rush back for. The real star was the whole fried red snapper. I loved that I actually got to pick the fish myself from the display up front, which already sets the tone for freshness. It came out perfectly breaded and fried to a crisp, with great crunch on the outside while the fish inside stayed tender and flavorful. It was served with a side of rice and a fish sauce with Thai chilies that really elevated the whole dish--salty, spicy, and just what it needed to cut through the richness. This is absolutely something I would order again without hesitation. Overall, Soy Pinoy knows exactly how to grab your attention--and more importantly, how to deliver when it counts. If you're walking through POST Houston hungry, good luck resisting this place. I tried... and clearly failed.
Located at the POST; Soy Pinoy offers a fast casual option of Filipino cuisine with most of the well known options. I got a lechon / roast pork plate which came with some pickled slaw and lumpia (fried eggroll and shrimp crisps). Honestly this felt like a very shallow and basic rendition of the cuisine; I felt fairly disappointed by the taste and execution of the dish as it was fairly bland and missing a lot of the high notes associated with the very flavorful experiences of Filipino food. Plenty of other choices at the POST that I feel have better quality and flavor profiles.
This is my first time trying fillipino food, and I was not disappointed! I loved the bbq chicken, jasmine rice and the eggs rolls, they were so crispy! They had these shrimp chips that were so flavorful and everything was placed on a banana leaf for authenticity, it was amazing, I don't live in Houston but I will be looking for places near me!
I'm from SoCal visiting friends in Houston, and I had to see what soy Pinot was all About. It was great. Service was Quick. And the food was pretty top notch. The meat was so flavorful, I got the bbq platter, because why not have it all. The lechon was juicy. The pork belly was tender and the chicken wasn't dry at all. Everything was Well seasoned. I'd definitely come Back. I have no regrets coming here.
Great spot for bites at the POST. Tried the Veggie Pancit Noodles and they were great! Savory, a little bit of sour, and full of flavor. Also, I was able to eat a couple of meals with their portion size, so the price was worth it to me. I'll definitely come back to try some other items soon.
When you are a Filipino traveling Texas and you see a place called "Soy Pinoy"...of course you gotta try it! Soy Pinoy is a Filipino eatery located in the POST market in Houston. I had never heard of this place before our visit and had to try their bbq and lumpia. Overall the food was good. The lumpia had a good taste and the bbq was on point with some of the best Filipino bbq I have had. If we had more time and lived in the area, I would love to taste their entire menu. The smells coming from this kitchen were amazing! Definitely worth a try !
i visited soy pinoy at the post and ordered the bbq plate ($22), which includes bbq pork, lechon, bbq chicken, atchara, sarsa sauce, and chili vinegar. i hadn't eaten here before, so i went with the multi-meat combo. the bbq pork was definitely the highlight -- super flavorful and tender, and the bbq chicken was a close second, nicely seasoned. both meats paired well with the purple cabbage and rice. unfortunately, the lechon was a letdown. it seemed reheated, as the skin was extremely tough, almost to the point of risking a broken tooth. the price is definitely on the higher side, which is likely due to the post location. most places in the food court is overpriced, and on top of that, parking is $5 an hour, which feels a bit much. it would be nice if they offered parking validation for customers. while the rooftop area is nice, there's nothing particularly special about it to justify the high prices. if they're going to charge so much, they should at least offer free parking. overall, while there's potential at the post, the extra costs make it hard to fully enjoy.

Amazing pork belly combination plate and I got the egg roll (lumpia). The egg rolls were pretty flavorful and love that it came with shrimp(prawn?) chips. Quick customer service and received our order in no time.

Being Filipino and growing up with a mom, grandmothers, aunties, and myself all cooking delicious Filipino dishes, I am no stranger to the cuisine. So, whenever my hometown introduces a new Filipino restaurant, it's always a bucket list goal to check them out. At Soy Pinoy, flavors are familiar but "new," inspired by native concepts but some seasoning & ingredients are less traditional. Like many of the other stalls in the Post HTX food court, they seem to have a "fusion" approach. Sometimes the recipe works, but sometimes it's risky... And to be honest, I'm not sure my tastebuds enjoyed it here. Not sure if it's the oil, vinegar, or seasoning (msg?) used, but everything left an offensive taste in my mouth that lingered for hours... And price-wise, you don't get a whole lot of value-for-the-money. I paid over $22 for a combo that consisted of a plate of mediocre veggie pancit (noodles), cold & stale lumpia (spring rolls), and a few small pieces of pork bbq, with a fountain drink. Not to mention - if you're only coming to Post HTX to eat, be prepared to tack on a parking fee of $5 per hour. I can't justify the price, when there are far better dining options nearby. Besides being unimpressed by the cost and taste of my meal, I couldn't say much better about the overall experience. Service was extremely slow for food that didn't taste fresh off the stovetop/grill. I waited almost 20min for the notification on my phone to text me that my food was ready. Nothing on my tray was hot & fresh; more like pre-made & room temp. On top of that, some standard menu items weren't available. We arrived just before noon on a Sunday, but we were told the highly coveted Lechon wouldn't be ready until 2pm. Advertising says it's only available on the weekends, but nowhere do they specify a time of day.... This was extremely disappointing for a first-timer who drove over an hour from the north side of town and didn't have the time to wait 2hrs for the dish they were looking forward to trying the most. Sadly, with such a formula for disappointment, I don't think we will be back anytime soon.
I ordered it from uber eats with the BOGO deal. It was $20.70 on uber eats (definitely marked up price by around $2?) but with tips my total still came out to $30 which was definitely worth it given that I didn't have to drive there. The meat was delicious. Very soft. Not too sweet. It has picked radish and spicy sour sauce? But I didn't eat with any of those because it tasted super delicious with just the meat and rice. Ate here for the first time. We ordered the Sarsa MNL Lechon Chicken and the BBQ Plate. The food was definitely flavorful and delicious. Not the traditional style Filipino food that you'd find at a hole-in-the-wall. We also got the combo which comes with a drink and a side of tiny lumpias and some salt/vinegar shrimp chips. Overall, pretty pricy and not worth the price you pay. The food is pretty flavorful and the portions aren't bad or anything, I just don't think it's worth the price. Staff are friendly. Lots of tables to dine at to include the rest of the food court. The fountain drink machine is near one of the front doors. The parking lot is small and tight so I wouldn't bring a huge truck in here. The gate automatically lets you in, but you can pay on your way out and they don't validate here. read more

It had been a minute since we meandered into the Post, where this spot is located. For those who are just venturing to the Post, it's important to note there is some city metered parking around the facility's parking lot. During M-R, the price is free for the private lot up to I believe 75 minutes, then it's $5+ after that time allotment. On Friday through Sunday, only the first 20 minutes is free in the private lot, presumably for to go pickups. Inside, there is communal seating while some establishments have a few tables for themselves. Soy Pinoy is not one of those spots. Be prepared to look around for seating on the weekend when the Post seems to always busy. Soy Pinoy is one of many spots to choose and we had never tried their BBQ Pork. It didn't disappoint. We noticed the rice was a bit dry, but the spicy sauce and veggies were well prepared. The bbq pork itself was great, very flavorful, crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. I'm knocking this one star as the price is a little steep in my opinion for what you get. Though that goes for most the spots in the Post. read more

The food is yummy! Definitely a must try in the Post Houston food hall! The Pinoy chicken plate is in point. Chicken is juicy and packed with flavor. Today I tried The veggie lumpa is stuffed with pancit, carrots and mushroom. They had a good crunch. My favorite part was the bites of mushroom inside. Not sure what mushroom they used, but it was yummy when I came across those. You get a dipping sauce that has a little spice. read more

I can't only speak on the lumpia as I have now ordered this twice from the menu and I can honestly say I'm left disappointed yet again. The pork mixture receipt that they use just is not good/flavorful. They somehow even managed to miss the opportunity for flavor with the dipping sauce. I'm a long time lumpia lover and for the cost ($10.10 with tax) for 6 pieces you'd expect much more. read more

The food, service and atmosphere is vibe for sure. The food is bomb.com no lie. The chicken was cooked to perfection and was very moist and tender. The white rice and purple cabbage combo compliment the entire entry. As for the service besides the mishap at the beginning the service was fast and good after that. The vibe here is definitely a foodie vibe and you can come and get almost anything your stomach desires. The lumpia's are amazing as well and coupled to a crispy, crunchy perfection with great flavoring of the meat. Honestly I'd come back and try it again for sure. read more
I thought I was going to have a difficult time finding this restaurant when I entered the food court area but I found it fairly quickly! I ordered vegetarian pancit as that was the only vegetarian option for elite treat and it was quite good! I thought it was little bit greasy but it had very nice flavor, saltiness with hint of tartness from lemon! I can definitely have it again! :) Keep up the good work! read more

I don't know why this place doesn't have more stars! The food is good but the only downside is the portion sizes relative to the price. The photos on their menu make the portions appear larger than they are, so order more food than you think you need, unless you plan on getting other items from different food hall purveyors. Food wise, the BBQ pork belly is delicious! We've tried with the rice noodles and in the plate with white rice and pickled cabbage on the side, and both were were tasty. The lumpia was pretty good and came with "shrimp crisps" that tasted like pork rinds in a unique spice. read more

Big whoop for finding Filipino food, I feel like you definitely don't see that very often! Pretty extensive menu to choose from with a lot of options. I opted for the vegetable pancit noodles and added fried shrimp. This plate was delicious! The noodles were well made and seasoned. The fried lacked flavor, I do wish they had some zing to it. The spicy sauce is SPICY! But yummy. I went back to get the halo halo for dessert. The little cup was $13 which is ridiculously expensive, the same price as my noodles! Despite costing a lot, it was delicious! Loved how creamy it was and the balance of textures was incredible! read more
Filipino food at the Post! Food only took about 12 minutes to come out Saturday late lunch which was pretty good. The food itself tasted good - the charred pork with rice was delicious. Basically all the sauces were quite spicy. The little fried rolls were good. And the noodles as well. The food was pretty expensive though which definitely knocks my back a star and half on the premise of quality/quantity vs cost. So I'd probably go back and recommend - but will try another stall the Post next. Get the pork if you go though! read more

This place is a sleeper! You've got amazing chefs on this project. Putting out high quality food to a food hall location. Some of the best Filipino bbq pork I've ever had. Most definitely the Lumpia was the best I've tried. Watching them make it in front of you was also a treat. There's not too many Filipino food spots in Houston. And this place just set the bar. It's located inside the Post building. I really enjoyed the food and service. Would definitely recommend it. I've heard great things from Soy Pinoy from my cousin, and she lives in Paris. I told her I hadn't tried them yet. I'm critical of Filipino food because I like the way my parents and other family or family friends make it. Since it was a Saturday, I went for the "best lechon". It's honestly not the best. The meat was seasoned well and must've been marinated with salt and pepper. The skin was so tough that I could barely chew it. I was afraid to break a tooth. Also, only some of the meat was tender. The rice was good and not too sticky. The pickled zucchini was too vinegary and left a sharp taste in your nose. The food is way overpriced, and it takes a while to order in line and get your food. read more
I was here for lunch and decided to try Filipino cuisine and was hoping I will get a good dish. Since it was my 1st time so I asked the gentleman at the counter which one is the favorite from other customers he told me the sisig with fried egg. I took his advice. Food was completely a disappointment. The mince pork described on the menu was super mince and mostly fat more like a bacon type of meat instead of "pork" as it mentioned. The rice is way over cooked with more water in it that made it so soggy. Sorry but I can't eat the dish. Too fatty from the pork belly or bacon. The name of this new establishment inside the also new POST Houston couldn't get any more literal with me since it means "I'm Pinoy (or Filipino)." When I planned my night around Chelsea Handler's show at the adjacent -- and yes, new -- 713 Music Hall, I had my heart set on having dinner here. It's safe to say that Soy Pinoy was everything I thought it would be: a Filipino restaurant that I can rave about to family, friends, and anyone else willing to listen. It's my duty to inform potential diners that you don't tell anyone behind the counter your order; you do so by scanning a QR code that opens up your browser to the restaurant's menu. I waited about 15 minutes for my fried chicken adobo and lumpiang shanghai, which wasn't that long a wait. You should've seen my eyes when I was given my tray with my two selections. I was expecting both to be small, but no. The bowls they came in were almost as big as hubcaps. The fried chicken adobo came with juicy strips of my favorite bird over a bed of white rice. Paired with a fresh medley of atsara and parsley, this modern take on a classic Pinoy dish easily won my tastebuds over. The lumpia was surprisingly huge. Usually, it's about the size of a flash drive, but Soy Pinoy's was just as big as a burrito. The filling was really good, with the accompanying chili oil paste amplifying the finger food.
