Ate here for the first time. We ordered the Sarsa MNL Lechon Chicken and the BBQ Plate. The food was definitely flavorful and delicious. Not the traditional style Filipino food that you'd find at a hole-in-the-wall. We also got the combo which comes with a drink and a side of tiny lumpias and some salt/vinegar shrimp chips. Overall, pretty pricy and not worth the price you pay. The food is pretty flavorful and the portions aren't bad or anything, I just don't think it's worth the price. Staff are friendly. Lots of tables to dine at to include the rest of the food court. The fountain drink machine is near one of the front doors. The parking lot is small and tight so I wouldn't bring a huge truck in here. The gate automatically lets you in, but you can pay on your way out and they don't validate here. read more

Girlfriend was craving Filipino food so when we had a chance to swing by POST, we took the opportunity to check out Soy Pinoy. Wasn't too hard to find, right near one of the 'exits' of the food hall area. Some seating, but we had to sit much further back, near the boba shop. There's a few classics to choose from. My girlfriend got the lechon ("I've had better) and I got the lechon chicken, which was decent with their sauce/dressing but still perhaps a bit plain. While Filipino food is fairly uncommon in Houston, I don't think the value proposition is quite there. It's $20-30 for not that much food, and it took quite a while to get the food (I guess a plus because it's made fresh?). Now, onto Soy Pinoy, because this is where my senses officially took over. What pulled me in wasn't a sign or a menu--it was the aroma. The kind that makes you slow your walk and start scanning to see where it's coming from. Then I saw the display. They had several dishes laid out front and center, plated beautifully on banana leaves, looking crisp, golden, and downright tempting. At that point, it felt less like choosing food and more like being chosen by it. I ordered two dishes. The pork dish was fine--no complaints--but it didn't really wow me. Solid, but not something I'd rush back for. The real star was the whole fried red snapper. I loved that I actually got to pick the fish myself from the display up front, which already sets the tone for freshness. It came out perfectly breaded and fried to a crisp, with great crunch on the outside while the fish inside stayed tender and flavorful. It was served with a side of rice and a fish sauce with Thai chilies that really elevated the whole dish--salty, spicy, and just what it needed to cut through the richness. This is absolutely something I would order again without hesitation. Overall, Soy Pinoy knows exactly how to grab your attention--and more importantly, how to deliver when it counts. I got a lechon / roast pork plate which came with some pickled slaw and lumpia (fried eggroll and shrimp crisps). Honestly this felt like a very shallow and basic rendition of the cuisine; I felt fairly disappointed by the taste and execution of the dish as it was fairly bland and missing a lot of the high notes associated with the very flavorful experiences of Filipino food. For around $18, the pork belly was deliciously cooked, pre-sliced (woo-hoo!) and had little fat, making it an overall tasty dish. Complimented by jasmine rice and atchara, this made for a great meal. Full disclosure - I am not 100% sure how authentic the atchara was, as while tasty, it came across more as pickled purple cabbage vs. pickled papaya. Great spot for bites at the POST. Tried the Veggie Pancit Noodles and they were great! Savory, a little bit of sour, and full of flavor. Being Filipino and growing up with a mom, grandmothers, aunties, and myself all cooking delicious Filipino dishes, I am no stranger to the cuisine. So, whenever my hometown introduces a new Filipino restaurant, it's always a bucket list goal to check them out. At Soy Pinoy, flavors are familiar but "new," inspired by native concepts but some seasoning & ingredients are less traditional. Like many of the other stalls in the Post HTX food court, they seem to have a "fusion" approach. Sometimes the recipe works, but sometimes it's risky... And to be honest, I'm not sure my tastebuds enjoyed it here. Not sure if it's the oil, vinegar, or seasoning (msg?) used, but everything left an offensive taste in my mouth that lingered for hours... And price-wise, you don't get a whole lot of value-for-the-money. I paid over $22 for a combo that consisted of a plate of mediocre veggie pancit (noodles), cold & stale lumpia (spring rolls), and a few small pieces of pork bbq, with a fountain drink. Not to mention - if you're only coming to Post HTX to eat, be prepared to tack on a parking fee of $5 per hour. I can't justify the price, when there are far better dining options nearby. Besides being unimpressed by the cost and taste of my meal, I couldn't say much better about the overall experience. Service was extremely slow for food that didn't taste fresh off the stovetop/grill. I waited almost 20min for the notification on my phone to text me that my food was ready. Nothing on my tray was hot & fresh; more like pre-made & room temp. On top of that, some standard menu items weren't available. We arrived just before noon on a Sunday, but we were told the highly coveted Lechon wouldn't be ready until 2pm. Advertising says it's only available on the weekends, but nowhere do they specify a time of day.... This was extremely disappointing for a first-timer who drove over an hour from the north side of town and didn't have the time to wait 2hrs for the dish they were looking forward to trying the most. Sadly, with such a formula for disappointment, I don't think we will be back anytime soon. read more

It had been a minute since we meandered into the Post, where this spot is located. For those who are just venturing to the Post, it's important to note there is some city metered parking around the facility's parking lot. During M-R, the price is free for the private lot up to I believe 75 minutes, then it's $5+ after that time allotment. On Friday through Sunday, only the first 20 minutes is free in the private lot, presumably for to go pickups. Inside, there is communal seating while some establishments have a few tables for themselves. Soy Pinoy is not one of those spots. Be prepared to look around for seating on the weekend when the Post seems to always busy. Soy Pinoy is one of many spots to choose and we had never tried their BBQ Pork. It didn't disappoint. We noticed the rice was a bit dry, but the spicy sauce and veggies were well prepared. The bbq pork itself was great, very flavorful, crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. The white rice and purple cabbage combo compliment the entire entry. As for the service besides the mishap at the beginning the service was fast and good after that. The photos on their menu make the portions appear larger than they are, so order more food than you think you need, unless you plan on getting other items from different food hall purveyors. Soy Pinoy was inside a food hall. It was beautiful and the service was nice and quick. My wife is Filipina and I am Puerto Rican, so we are foodies. We had to try the best lechón, cause I know in Puerto Rico we make the best lechón. Let me tell you it did not disappoint it was perfectly crisp on the skin and juicy on the meat it painted well with the vinagre that it came with that had a little kick to it. We paired it with the garlic fried rice and salad and it was soooo good. We clean that plate to the last grain. I would come back and definitely I think prices are right for today's era and to be in a food hall. Specially how nice and well presented. I dislike all the Filipinos and any culture in general that bash their own people for comparing it with their parents food and cost for making it at home. You can't compare that. 4.5 stars. Ever since POST opened, I've been been excited since Paul Qui decided to open up Soy Pinoy. I had my doubts since while he's very good at his Asian fusion concepts, his last Filipino restaurant Qui just wasn't up to par in my opinion. He unfortunately proved me right when soy pinoy opened at first, but now that Tom Cunanan kind of took over this place has been a hit for us Everything we've had here has been super good. Don't expect a super traditional plate with inexpensive price tags- this place is a good blend of traditional cooking with a bit of a modern twist to entice non Filipinos to enjoy our food. My favorite for sure is the lechon that is now served everyday. The grilled liempo is also good, and it's served with a traditional vinegar dip that I grew up eating it with. The spaghetti is also very good, and the vegan bbq was well liked by my vegan sister in law. Overall, it's a pretty good option especially at the diverse food hall at Post. As a Filipino who grew up in Houston. I have been exposed to the OG cuisines like Oriental cooking, Golden Ribbon, Filipiniana, Tony's Grill, Godos, you name it! All listed above have something in common, authenticity and love. These are the staples of what makes Filipino food distinguished. Unfortunately this falls flat at Soy Pinot. I've been here twice over a span of two years. The first time o was not impressed so I let time go by and saw they got a bigger space and decided hey, maybe it's better now cause they can afford a bigger space? I was wrong, the food lacked the authenticity of Filipino food, it's like the chef had no idea what the food of my people tasted like and got some recipe from a cookbook written by a puteh who tried their own folio twist. The bangus was thin and dry, the achata was not real achata, and the amount of rice given was minuscule. To top this... for two dishes I paid over 65 dollars for substandard food. Honestly I could goto Godos and get more quality and quantity for half that price for three people. Apparently the owner of this place is a chef, sorry but my tita and everyone else's titas have better recipes than you. As a Pinoy representative in a popular spot like POST I would expect better, but it turns out it's a place I would avoid. Things to improve... bring authenticity to your food, increase your portions, and for the love of God... drop the price on ONE skewer. 8 bucks for ONE skewer? The meat was seasoned well and must've been marinated with salt and pepper. The skin was so tough that I could barely chew it. I was afraid to break a tooth. Also, only some of the meat was tender. The rice was good and not too sticky. The pickled zucchini was too vinegary and left a sharp taste in your nose.
