I had no idea today was closed off for a private event but really cool of them to still accommodate us. This was our first time here and it was live. We were greeted at the door and explained what our options were prior to getting seated. The place looked much bigger than expected and very culturally decorated. It was fun, inviting, clean and spacious. We got a couple things from the menu after our waitress explained some of the items and gave us ample time to order. All the food was great, it came out quick and we were excited to give it all a try. The service was great and the food was really good. It was more on the expensive side for what you get but I'm glad we came and gave this a try. The menu has a lot of great options to try.

Randomly stopped in for an early dinner for our first visit. There was a ticketed event that day which we had no idea about, thankfully we were still able to be seated in a side room. The service was great and attentive despite there being an event going on. Everything was absolutely delicious. The only thing we probably wouldn't order again would be the kabobs, they had great flavor but just a little too chewy for me. Would love to dine in the main area next time to fully grasp the ambiance.

The service is world class, we didn't wait that long yet the food served are all freshly cooked! The ambiance is great! Makes you feel at home.

I'm biased because I'm Filipino right... but I really do love this place. The food is always delicious to me. The drinks have gotten so much better since before and the ambiance is just so typically Filipino that you can't help it. We received some great service from two ladies during my birthday and our food and drinks came out very fast. It gets really packed here on the weekends because they have live bands and karaoke sometimes but it's all fun!

So I've been here before and I wasn't feeling it BUT the wife loves this place.... So why not? I was wrong. This place is so good! I ate most of the lumpia and the BBQ pork was good! Wife got the crispy pata and that great too! It's weird that in Chinatown that you have to pay for your rice but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. We also got the Halo Halo because I thought it would be like a Chè Ba Màu and it is but not really. Still VERY enjoyable. Staff and service was great. And I KINDA want to see the live band one day. It's a Filipino place. There has to be some sort of singing or karaoke. The only thing I didn't like was the sticky table. It was sticky! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but the food was very good. Would I come back? Hell yeah! I'm getting the banana lumpia and ice cream next time too. Regrets.

We went on Sunday lunch and was pretty crowded. There were multiple bands plying raising money for a fellow band member so a bit noisy. This is normal on Friday and Saturday nights but not on Sundays. Luckily, we were able to grab a table and got seated right away. We ordered 3 dishes... grilled squid, beef karekare and pork sisig. Grilled squid was delicious. One of our go to items to order. Restaurant is well known for the grilled items so can't go wrong. Beef Karekare is beef oxtail cooked with peanut sauce and vegetables (bok choy, eggplant, long beans). It comes with shrimp paste. This is a must. Tip: do not order if you don't like shrimp paste. Last is the pork sisig. It comes on a sizzling plate and was still sizzling when served. This goes very well with beer or with rice. It is a bit salty. Meat is crispy from the hot plate. We had ordered it with egg that offsets some of the saltiness. Restaurant offers delicious Philippine/Filipino dishes. Service was friendly although it was sometimes hard to call their attention as restaurant was packed.

YUM. Gerry's is always delicious, and the service is always wonderful. Our server Bethel was quick to get our drinks and orders. The Adobo shreds and lumpia are always a favorite!

My BMP calamansi margarita was distinct in its tanginess. Tried the veggie lumpias and brussel sprouts. The lumpias had tangy dipping sauce that might have been dominated by calamansi. More tang than savory. The brussel sprouts were standard but had a good portion. I tried to detect whether they used fish sauce but I couldn't tell. Ordered the daing na bangus (milkfish) as my entree. They gave me the whole fish and it threw me off that it was mostly deboned since I kept looking for the bones with my tongue and teeth. Fish was nice and crispy and the dipping sauce was more savory than what came with the lumpias. The garlic rice that came with the dish was smoky from that wok hay. Probably could have used a little more soy sauce for flavouring. My favourite dish was the turon dessert (fried bananas) along with the ube ice cream. The coconut sauce they used seemed more like caramel. I haven't eaten much Filipino food so I wasn't sure how authentic the dishes were. I was expecting a little more intensity in the flavours, and I don't know if it was toned down for their customers. There were around ten customers that night. The inside was beautiful and they have a two level patio that is perfect for nights like these. The service was very nice and the kitchen was faster than I expected.

Chef Bham (previously from Alinea, amongst a few other baller restaurants) is a literal genius. The menu was a really thoughtful ode to various Filipino dishes with a little twist on each. You get the comforting tapsilog and taho that you might have grown up with alongside interesting flavors and ideas. Pandesal made into a tart crust, kinilaw made with daikon and beef...they also are very good at keeping in mind dietary restrictions: I was the annoying halal option, but, man did my experience rock. Pork belly replaced with enoki mushrooms or octopus, and the dish was still amazing. My sister was unfortunately gluten free, but still able to enjoy every bite. Because of the location, you get the experience of sitting with the chef and his team and that alongside them in almost in the kitchen. It's very cozy and different, and you learn a lot about each dish because of it (and his amazing team). I love Musaafer, but this may have become my new favorite high end place.

They allow byob and there's also a wine tasting as well. The 5 courses menu was thoughtfully crafted, with each dish rooted in heritage and memory. Also the fried rice with Wagyu, quail egg and topped with caviar was fantastic. Great texture and presentation. Service was impeccable. Chef Bham and the staff were deeply knowledgeable and genuinely passionate. Every glass was topped off before we even noticed. You could tell they weren't just serving food but also they were part of the storytelling. This experience deserves every bit of praise. If you're looking for something beyond the usual dining. Truly unforgettable. I'll be talking about this night for a long time.

Not the traditional style Filipino food that you'd find at a hole-in-the-wall. We also got the combo which comes with a drink and a side of tiny lumpias and some salt/vinegar shrimp chips. Lots of tables to dine at to include the rest of the food court. The fountain drink machine is near one of the front doors. The space is massive and surprisingly comfortable, making it a great place to hang out if you're a foodie who likes options. There are indoor courtyards and even a rooftop with nice decor and city views--but I'll save my full POST Houston thoughts for another review. Now, onto Soy Pinoy, because this is where my senses officially took over. What pulled me in wasn't a sign or a menu--it was the aroma. The kind that makes you slow your walk and start scanning to see where it's coming from. Then I saw the display. They had several dishes laid out front and center, plated beautifully on banana leaves, looking crisp, golden, and downright tempting. At that point, it felt less like choosing food and more like being chosen by it. I ordered two dishes. The pork dish was fine--no complaints--but it didn't really wow me. Solid, but not something I'd rush back for. The real star was the whole fried red snapper. I loved that I actually got to pick the fish myself from the display up front, which already sets the tone for freshness. It came out perfectly breaded and fried to a crisp, with great crunch on the outside while the fish inside stayed tender and flavorful. It was served with a side of rice and a fish sauce with Thai chilies that really elevated the whole dish--salty, spicy, and just what it needed to cut through the richness. This is absolutely something I would order again without hesitation. Overall, Soy Pinoy knows exactly how to grab your attention--and more importantly, how to deliver when it counts. If you're walking through POST Houston hungry, good luck resisting this place. I tried... and clearly failed.
