Came here for the first time with my wife. We ordered the Crispy Pata, Kare Kareng Lechon Kawali, Sizzling Pork Sisig w/ Egg, Pancit Bihon w/ Crispy Pork, 2 serving sides of Garlic Rice, and for dessert, a HaloHalo. Everything was super delicious and flavorful. The lechon and pata had great texture. A small portion of the pata was a little dry, but overall, tender and juicy. Pata was lightly seasoned so dipping it in the shoyu sauce is recommended. The Kare Kare was perfect and the Halo Halo was refreshing. The staff are very friendly. Lots of tables to dine at and lots of parking. This is a huge restaurant with a stage where they have scheduled live music entertainment. They have a full bar as well with a pretty good selection of liquor. To be honest, probably the fancier Filipino restaurant that I've ever eaten in lol. They have a small private room area that can be reserved for parties. The food came out so fast and made fresh. We'll be back whenever we're in this area again. read more

I have never have felt more unwelcome and unwanted in a restaurant in my professional career as a chef I'm sorry I came in by myself and was not a table that wanted to pound down drinks. I was asked to sit at the bar, which I had no problem with. The chairs could not have been any more uncomfortable to be at a bar. When the bartender asked me what I wanted to drink, I said, I just want water and a hot tea. She literally rolled her eyes. Walked to the end of the bar started speaking and Filipino I will assume and then laughed. It's a shame too this restaurant came highly recommended. First venture into Filipino food, and I had a Filipino gentleman, so I thought it was a great time to try it. The food was quite different, I have been to the Philippines before, but the food I had there was probably more of a tourist restaurant than a place where the actual local folks go. They were business trips so they were taking us to the high-end restaurants. I wish I could remember the names of the dishes. The one I like the best was the noodles with shrimp and pork. We were greeted at the door and explained what our options were prior to getting seated. The place looked much bigger than expected and very culturally decorated. It was fun, inviting, clean and spacious. We got a couple things from the menu after our waitress explained some of the items and gave us ample time to order. Randomly stopped in for an early dinner for our first visit. There was a ticketed event that day which we had no idea about, thankfully we were still able to be seated in a side room. The service was great and attentive despite there being an event going on. Everything was absolutely delicious. The only thing we probably wouldn't order again would be the kabobs, they had great flavor but just a little too chewy for me. Gerry's Grill was my first introduction to Filipino food, thanks to my boss! It's a very casual restaurant with lots of seating. I found out that I love Pancit Palabok. So flavorful! It tastes so good that I know that it cannot be healthy for me haha. Great choice of carbs, but you're in the mood for rice and you like garlic, they have garlic rice or adobo rice. We had the Tokwa't Lechon Kawali. I love pork belly, however they made it a bit tough. I wish it were easier to chew. The fried tofu was good with the vinegar dipping sauce. We also had the Chicken Pork Adobo; it was very flavorful, and tastes very homey. I enjoyed the meal, and will return if I am feeling Filipino food again. If you have a full day ahead of you, be warned that the pancit palabok might make you sleepy. So good, but it makes the meal very heavy lol. read more

We went on Sunday lunch and was pretty crowded. There were multiple bands plying raising money for a fellow band member so a bit noisy. This is normal on Friday and Saturday nights but not on Sundays. Luckily, we were able to grab a table and got seated right away. We ordered 3 dishes... grilled squid, beef karekare and pork sisig. Grilled squid was delicious. One of our go to items to order. Restaurant is well known for the grilled items so can't go wrong. Beef Karekare is beef oxtail cooked with peanut sauce and vegetables (bok choy, eggplant, long beans). It comes with shrimp paste. This is a must. Tip: do not order if you don't like shrimp paste. Last is the pork sisig. It comes on a sizzling plate and was still sizzling when served. This goes very well with beer or with rice. It is a bit salty. Meat is crispy from the hot plate. We had ordered it with egg that offsets some of the saltiness. Restaurant offers delicious Philippine/Filipino dishes. I love Gerry's but every location I've been to either in Manila or LA has felt distinctly different from each other. This was my first time going to the Houston location, and I had a super fun experience. We went on a Friday night, which is when they have live music followed by open karaoke. It made it really hard to hear my friends at our table, but the energy was good. The restaurant is roomy with high ceilings, more modernly furnished than other locations I've been to. The service was also friendly and there was usually always someone nearby if you needed anything. Highly recommend their sisig, pancit palabok, and adobo rice. My friends got a huge variety of food for the table, but I was a little too late to the hangout to get to try much more. I was looking forward to ordering some Red Horse beers too, but was pretty disappointed when I found out they weren't available. Not sure if it was temporary or if this is an ongoing thing, but I hope they'll be in stock next time I go back. read more

I am half Filipino so any chance I get to be in touch with my moms culture I take it, and I had never been to Gerry's, we were near by shopping so stopped in for my birthday we got the lumpiang for app, my dad got a grilled chicken dish, I got the beef tapa, my mom got pork sigsig, and we got halo halo for dessert. I was very happy with everything I ate. The server was pleasant and something about being in a building with all Filipinos around me warms my heart reminds me of my childhood. Crab rice was delicious, but not much crab meat in the dish. Pinakbet had a variety of veggies, but I was not too crazy about this. Crispy Pata (pork) was delicious! I would order again if I go back to dine at Gerry's Grill. Crispy short rib was savory but a little oily/greasy. Inihaw na pusit (grilled squid) was tasty! Sizzling pork sisig was ok. Adobo rice (w/ small pork bits) had a lot of flavor; a tad bit salty though. Pancit palabok was ok; not savory enough imo. Buko pandan had very subtle pandan taste; likely overpowered by coconut shreds. However it was a refreshing dessert overall. Took my non-Filipino friends here to try Filipino food for the first time! We came on a Sunday right before the church crowd came in. The place was busy but we were able to get seated quickly. We ordered the lumpia, pork bbq, Kare kare, and the palabok. It was family style and that was a good amount of food for 4 people. Had to get the rice separately. The servers were nice and friendly and the staff was quick to pick up any done dishes. However some of our dishes did come a lot later than the others. The food in terms of taste was okay! The lumpia and bbq were probably the best, as for the Kare Kare and the palabok I've had better. It did scratch the itch of missing my mom's cooking. read more

Came to Gerry's grill with a big group of friends so we could try many different dishes as this was our first time here. Also got the famous iced tea based on the reviews, and it was so delicious with a fruity hint! We ordered the crab rice, lechon, crispy pata, grilled squid, chicken inasal, pork sisig, chicken skewers, and some garlic rice. The crab rice was delicious with lots of flavor. The lechon and crispy pata were a little to dry and crispy for my taste. I didn't go back for seconds. The grilled squid was pretty good with good amount of squid and was more tasty with the sauce. The pork sisig was perfect with the garlic rice and was a good amount of savory and rich. I was suprised that the garlic rice was just garlic and rice since I've had it more flavorful at other places but it was a good rice to pair with the other main entrees. The star of the show for me was their chicken dishes, which I was suprised about. The chicken inasal and chicken skewers were SOOOO delicious. They were so well flavored and the chicken was very tender. These were definitely the 2 standout dishes to me and the dishes that I would get when I go back. Sadly, we were way too full for dessert at the end but I want to come back and try those as well. All in all, I had a great time eating here!! Just made a temporary move from California to Houston a little over a month ago, since I was craving filipino food we decided on Gerry's Grill. After getting lost and stuck in traffic for 2 hours we finally made it. Gerry's Grill is hands down the best filipino food in town. We ordered an array of filipino food from seafood to meats and we can't forget about the appetizers and desserts. It was an experience dining here at Gerry's Grill. We had an amazing time. We met up with my cousin who suggested this place and we pretty much ordered a lot of food, kinda ordered what looked good on the photos. The food tasted good and honestly I cannot say anything negative as everything was great. They even have a full bar and live band, which we missed since we had lunch instead of dinner. The halo-halo was good and the gelatin drink was good too! We will definitely be back. We had loads of take-away and the food was good the next day. Delicious!
