Gerry's Grill is easy to find right off Sam Houston Parkway, and there's plenty of parking, which is always a plus. The place is clean, and the staff is super friendly, though I'm pretty sure our server didn't realize I'm Filipino because she kept asking if we liked the dishes like we'd never had them before. It cracked me up lol! Most of our cravings were definitely satisfied. I was disappointed they don't serve sago with the gulaman anymore, and the crab fried rice didn't seem to have actual crab in it. I could smell it, but I couldn't see it. The pork BBQ sticks were huge and flavorful, while the inihaw na pusit was on the smaller side, but dipping it in their vinegar sauce made it extra good. My husband tried pork sisig for the first time, and the server explained it's best eaten while drinking, aka as a "pulutan" which again confirmed she didn't realize we're Filipino. The halo-halo was perfect for cooling off in this Texas heat, though I remember the serving being bigger when they first opened. We ordered the Crispy Pata, Kare Kareng Lechon Kawali, Sizzling Pork Sisig w/ Egg, Pancit Bihon w/ Crispy Pork, 2 serving sides of Garlic Rice, and for dessert, a HaloHalo. Everything was super delicious and flavorful. The lechon and pata had great texture. A small portion of the pata was a little dry, but overall, tender and juicy. Pata was lightly seasoned so dipping it in the shoyu sauce is recommended. The Kare Kare was perfect and the Halo Halo was refreshing. The staff are very friendly. Lots of tables to dine at and lots of parking. This is a huge restaurant with a stage where they have scheduled live music entertainment. They have a full bar as well with a pretty good selection of liquor. To be honest, probably the fancier Filipino restaurant that I've ever eaten in lol. I have never have felt more unwelcome and unwanted in a restaurant in my professional career as a chef I'm sorry I came in by myself and was not a table that wanted to pound down drinks. I was asked to sit at the bar, which I had no problem with. The chairs could not have been any more uncomfortable to be at a bar. When the bartender asked me what I wanted to drink, I said, I just want water and a hot tea. She literally rolled her eyes. Walked to the end of the bar started speaking and Filipino I will assume and then laughed. It's a shame too this restaurant came highly recommended. I would like to give a 5 star reviews since I am a Filipino and love our foods but lately the foods is not as good as I remember compare to a few years that I have been here.First the service is quite slow but the server are always friendly,smiling and attentive to what the costumers needs.The crispy pata that I ordered is good along with adobo fried rice but the pinakbet that I ordered is a little salty. I had no idea today was closed off for a private event but really cool of them to still accommodate us. This was our first time here and it was live. We were greeted at the door and explained what our options were prior to getting seated. The place looked much bigger than expected and very culturally decorated. It was fun, inviting, clean and spacious. We got a couple things from the menu after our waitress explained some of the items and gave us ample time to order. All the food was great, it came out quick and we were excited to give it all a try. The service was great and the food was really good. Craving for Filipino food here in Houston and happy to see Gerry's Grill is 20 minutes away. Ordered sinigang short ribs, sisig bangus, pork sisig and sago and gulamab. Short ribs sinigang did not disappoint although the price was $40 for one order. The fish sisig was too salty which is the reason why I'm not giving a 5 star. Pork sisig is excellent. Gerry's Grill was my first introduction to Filipino food, thanks to my boss! It's a very casual restaurant with lots of seating. I found out that I love Pancit Palabok. So flavorful! It tastes so good that I know that it cannot be healthy for me haha. Great choice of carbs, but you're in the mood for rice and you like garlic, they have garlic rice or adobo rice. We had the Tokwa't Lechon Kawali. I love pork belly, however they made it a bit tough. I wish it were easier to chew. The fried tofu was good with the vinegar dipping sauce. We also had the Chicken Pork Adobo; it was very flavorful, and tastes very homey. I enjoyed the meal, and will return if I am feeling Filipino food again. If you have a full day ahead of you, be warned that the pancit palabok might make you sleepy. So good, but it makes the meal very heavy lol. read more

We went on Sunday lunch and was pretty crowded. There were multiple bands plying raising money for a fellow band member so a bit noisy. This is normal on Friday and Saturday nights but not on Sundays. Luckily, we were able to grab a table and got seated right away. We ordered 3 dishes... grilled squid, beef karekare and pork sisig. Grilled squid was delicious. One of our go to items to order. Restaurant is well known for the grilled items so can't go wrong. Beef Karekare is beef oxtail cooked with peanut sauce and vegetables (bok choy, eggplant, long beans). It comes with shrimp paste. This is a must. Tip: do not order if you don't like shrimp paste. Last is the pork sisig. It comes on a sizzling plate and was still sizzling when served. This goes very well with beer or with rice. It is a bit salty. Meat is crispy from the hot plate. We had ordered it with egg that offsets some of the saltiness. Restaurant offers delicious Philippine/Filipino dishes. I love Gerry's but every location I've been to either in Manila or LA has felt distinctly different from each other. This was my first time going to the Houston location, and I had a super fun experience. We went on a Friday night, which is when they have live music followed by open karaoke. It made it really hard to hear my friends at our table, but the energy was good. The restaurant is roomy with high ceilings, more modernly furnished than other locations I've been to. The service was also friendly and there was usually always someone nearby if you needed anything. Highly recommend their sisig, pancit palabok, and adobo rice. My friends got a huge variety of food for the table, but I was a little too late to the hangout to get to try much more. I was looking forward to ordering some Red Horse beers too, but was pretty disappointed when I found out they weren't available. Not sure if it was temporary or if this is an ongoing thing, but I hope they'll be in stock next time I go back. read more

Took my non-Filipino friends here to try Filipino food for the first time! We came on a Sunday right before the church crowd came in. The place was busy but we were able to get seated quickly. We ordered the lumpia, pork bbq, Kare kare, and the palabok. It was family style and that was a good amount of food for 4 people. Had to get the rice separately. The servers were nice and friendly and the staff was quick to pick up any done dishes. However some of our dishes did come a lot later than the others. The food in terms of taste was okay!
