Now known as One Shot Pocha. Booking process is through a link that can be found in their Instagram. It is pretty cool that they will give a free hour with an F&B minimum. There is a good amount of parking in the big strip mall lot, but it gets very packed on weekends as there are many popular restaurants here. We got a room with a 15-top and were brought in promptly on time. We planned out our food/drink order ahead of time to meet the F&B minimum for one extra free hour. We also made a YouTube playlist ahead of time to allow people to choose songs to add and make sure everyone got at least one song they wanted on the list. Food came out really quickly, with banchan coming in about 5-10 minutes and food coming out anywhere from 15-30 minutes after (the military stew took the longest). Food-wise: Banchan: 3.5/5 Pretty much has all the staples Chicken Wings: 4/5 Nice and crispy, good flavor, good sharable portion and we ordered the Whole Chicken Seafood Pancake: 3.5/5 Pretty hefty and comes with a nice sauce, a little light on the seafood Kimchi Pancake: 4/5 Nice crisp, good dipping sauce, would get again Corn Cheese: 4/5 Looks small, but actually quite sharable and filling LA Galbi: 3/5 Many recommendations for this but I found it to be small and kind of chewy, no better than other KBBQ I've had and quite pricey Cheese Tteokbokki 3.5/5 Also larger than expected and very filling. It's VERY cheesy. Army Hot Pot 2/5 Hard to share, not worth the price as there wasn't that much in it. I think if it were $10 cheaper at $30 instead of $40 it'd be worth it. One big downside is that one of our microphones was not audio adjusted well - it was barely picking up and the other mic was clearly stronger. Maybe this lends itself to a supporting duet. Different ownership, different vibe, some good, some bad. Heard the place was under new ownership and wanted to see what the new menu items were like. LA Galbi was very very good. Probably the best LA Galbi I've had in a while. The meat came in big and thick slices. Extremely appetizing. Cheese omelette was fluffy and flavorful, oozing with melted cheese inside, perfect with the dipped ketchup. Rose tteokbokki made a good first impression. The size was almost for an army, loaded with ham, rice cake, and chewy noodles. Upon further eating, however, you realize the sauce was very cheddar heavy. It tasted straight up like broccoli cheddar soup. They also used Bologna for ham and I feel it cheapens the dish. Overall tastes like an amateur attempt at a Korean bar classic. Soondubu jigae (not pictured) was the worst dish we ordered. Tasted like an entire bag of gochugaru, some soft tofu, and an egg. You will not have an inkling of suspicion you are eating soondubu jigae. Also not a fan. Minor plus is that they added a live DJ. This place is no longer called Soju Blue. It's now One Shot Pocha on Bellaire. We celebrated my friend's birthday here, and they even let her bring her own DJ, which made the night extra fun. The vibe was perfect--chill but hype at the same time, and honestly great for all ages. The food was really good, and the service was solid. Karaoke is lacking!!! I went when they first opened and it was so much fun with the Korean system where you get graded for your singing...now all they do is ask you to connect your phone to tv and go to YouTube to find karaoke videos to sing along to. There's also no way to control your mic or song volume, reverb, key change, etc as is typical with most Korean karaoke rooms. I was charged $40 an hour which is pretty pricey given they no longer provide or have to pay for that Korean karaoke service. I've been to a few other karaoke places around town and this is no longer on my list nor will I recommend for karaoke unless you don't care that it's all YouTube. If you're going for the food, I didn't try any, so I'd say give that a try. read more

The wife and I stopped in on a Sunday late afternoon after watching some YouTube mukbangers throwing down in here. We were the only patrons when we walked in but maybe 5 tables had been taken by the time we left. Service: On point. They don't bother you and you press a button on your table when you need something. They responded a bit slowly to this but by then we were tipsy and didn't care. Food: We each had a bowl of ramen, one with cheese and fish cake and the other with fish cake + spam and sausage. We also shared an order of beef bulgogi and wings, which we didn't know also came with fries. Everything on the table was !! Ambiance: Smallish dining room with rather short tables and short chairs. Comfortable if you're maybe 5'9" or shorter. Otherwise, you may need to stand ever so often. They have maybe 4-5 private back rooms to be used for parties or karaoke. Drink: Soju Soju Soju! We're not new to Soju but never went anywhere with such variety. I'm talking like 15+ different flavors. We had yogurt and watermelon (naturally right?). Both were delish! The very first time I visited this place, i was so impressed with the food and atmosphere. I knew this was going to be my favorite pocha in town. The next time when I came.... it turned into a hookah bar, waiters didn't care about the Korean button to call system (you don't need to wave them down!), music was so loud that i couldn't hear coversations. I felt completely abandoned that I just walked out without ordering anything. No one even stopped us nor cared about us leaving. This was the worse experience I've had and this no longer feels korean at all. I'm not sure if they are running a hookah bar or a korean pocha. I am truly disappointed in my experience here and I DO NOT recommend coming here. My birthday was basically full of frustration and tears. First, you have to book a reservation on OpenTable. I booked a month in advance for my party of 18 people for a large karaoke room. I clearly read the directions on OpenTable, I put my card on file and stated in the comments to the restaurant how many hours I needed the room. My party gets there and we get sat at a small table in the middle of the restaurant. They expect all 18 of us to sit here. I go up to the waiter and show him my reservation for a room. It specifically said on OpenTable it was for a standard room. There was no other options when booking for VIP or whatever he said. He made it seem like it was my fault on how I booked it. Then proceeds to say that it happens all the time. So If it happens all the time, then why is the management not doing anything about it?! Anyway, he was going to take care of us by giving us the VIP karaoke room but the party inside was going to be there until 10pm. So we drink, eat and make the best of the situation. Then 10pm comes along and we're told that we can longer have the room because the party is going to stay longer which is absolutely ridiculous. How are you going to tell us to wait until 10pm for the room, then tell us at 10pm that we have to go to another smaller room and charge us $70 per hour! After some arguing with the waiter the manager FINALLY gets involved. He ended up taking care of us because all 18 of my party was getting frustrated because they saw me getting upset and mind you, I have not been out of character like that since my 20s. There was absolutely no communication from the restaurant and believe me, I tried. I messaged them on their socials and all they told me was to go to OpenTable and ignored my questions. You would think that for a party of 18 someone would reach out, but no. Bad business service, communication and management. There are other better Korean karaoke options that I have been to. One Shot Pocha was such an awesome experience and I was expecting something close to it from Soju Blues but it was NOT that. It really gave me the blues and I was completely over it. They need to work on their customer service, reservation system and attention to details as well as communication with their patrons. My friends and I will never be coming back here. read more

Soju Blues is the newest Korean karaoke spot in Bellaire. Located next to San Dong Noodle House, R&B tea, and Sunright Tea Studio, this shopping center can get really crowded on the weekends so be prepared for that. Walking in, this place was very lively and energetic. There's a huge screen showing kpop on the wall, full bar available, a big food menu, and private karaoke rooms as well. Service was very fast here because they utilize the button on each of their tables. You just push the button if you need anything, very efficient. As far as the food, we tried their bulgogi kimchi fried rice, seafood pancake, soy garlic fried chicken, and plenty of soju of course. The seafood pancake was by far our favorite thing here, definitely get it! Soju is a must here as well because Korean karaoke isn't complete without it. If you're looking to have a good time with friends, Soju Blues is a great option for Korean bar food and karaoke. I will say it is slightly more expensive than the other pochas in Houston, but the ambiance is nice so can't complain too much. Parking is really the biggest issue here during peak Bellaire times. Love the atmosphere of this place. Came here with a group of 9 and had a great time. Very upbeat with vibrant lighting all around. Huge projector screen on one wall that usually displays Kpop music videos. We had to combine 2 round tables together to accommodate our large group and a result, it was somewhat hard for one side to communicate with other. This place would benefit from having at least one long table in the main room for parties of 6+. This is more of a hangout place. Don't come here for the food. The spicy ramen is just the Nongshim instant noodles you get at any Asian convenience store, except it's upcharged to $10. We also got the tteok-bokki which wasn't bad by any means, but nothing special. Of note, it's not actually as glaring red as in the picture I posted. We were right next to the music video projector so the color just seems off. Bathrooms were clean. Each table has a call button with quick responses (waiters/waitresses came within 1 min). I attended their grand opening event last week. I didn't know Soju Blues has been open for few months already. I wish I would have known about their karaoke rooms. Everything looked so clean and neat. The hallway to the rooms was kind of dark, especially with the mirrors. I felt a little dizzy at first. I guess all karaoke bars are like that. The round tables in the main dining area were shoved to the side to create few long tables for guests. That gave the restaurant a huge space for presentation. I really like about the movable tables. I could imagine how busy this place could be during weekend nights. They open from 5 pm to 2 am next day every day. I guess it's also standard for karaoke bars. The karaoke menu looks more modern and songs can be changed to different languages. Except the menu remains in Korean. The employees were somewhat helpful. I went back after my karaoke party to see I could possibly host my next party here. Unfortunately, the employee was very pushy and kept asking me if I was ready to reserve the room. The only reason I would reserve is to play YouTube directly from the smart TV and use the karaoke microphones to sing. Because I don't read Korean. I wish they have room rates written down somewhere, like a sign or online. Here is what I remembered. Small rooms can fit up to 8 people and was $40 per hour with 2 hours minimum. Medium room was $70 per hour. Not sure about if need to order food on top of that. Then, there's a special, if you order $100 worth of food and drinks, the first hour is free, for a limited time. The rose tteokbokki was not very creamy and mainly just tasted spicy. The rice cakes were also a bit over cooked. Great inviting atmosphere fun place to bring friends probably not the most inviting location for children just due to the louder ambience however it's a karaoke bar so I think it's fun for all that decide to get involved. Food looks tremendous freshly prepared. Didn't get a chance to taste it as the networking event that I was at for the Korean American Chamber Of Commerce and the Korean American Society of Houston it was already gone, but everybody seemed to really enjoy it Would highly recommend as a fun place to go and hang out. Parking can be tough, just due to the popularity of this area of Chinatown. The restaurant was clean inside, although I didn't visit the restroom. Me and some friends came in on a Thursday to have a little hangout. First off I do wanna say service was excellent. We really didn't have to wait for longer than two minutes for service. However, I do believe the price to food comparison was concerning. Paying $21 dollars for 5 pieces of chicken wings is absolutely absurd. Mind you the size of the wings were that of like wing stop. We also paid $28 dollars for maybe 10 thin slices of their bossam stir fried in some veggies and greens. Seeing how its one of the only pochas in bellaire it would be good as a last minute resort. Went on a Thursday evening around 7 pm, and there was one other large party at the restaurant. The ambiance is concrete with a huge screen loudly blaring K-pop music videos. Bar on one side with karaoke rooms lining either side of the bar and running behind. Service was really SLOW. We ordered seafood scallion pancake and it took 30 minutes to arrive. It should be called only squid pancake since there were no other types of seafood in there. Seasoning and texture was good though. The buldak ramen was OVERCOOKED, our rice for lightly seasoned pork belly and spicy boneless chicken feet only came to our table after we asked a second time. All the food took another 30 minutes to arrive. The taste was decent on the pork belly and chicken feet. They did not refill our waters even though they were literally walking by us and all 7 of them were sitting and taste testing alcohol drinks at the bar and chatting away. Pretty standard setup, big are out front for open karaoke, and bar. Private rooms in the back. The rooms were clean, a giant table surround with bench seating facing a big screen, and a smaller monitor. You can select your music via monitor, or connect your phone to their system, and go through YouTube. That one gear grind point, if you are putting us on YouTube, which we could do at home, at least have the pro version that does not have commercials. Ambience is great, sometimes you want to be out to enjoy your night, and YouTube has limitless options and is usually a million times better than most establishment's available playlists. But now you are wasting my time, that I pay for, with commercials. That is a no-no. Meet me halfway here. Aside from that, I did like their lighting setup, and overall look of the rooms. I didn't spend time in the main area aside from walking through it. Moving on! Food was good. We had honey butter fried chicken, soy garlic, Seafood Scallion Pancake, Spicy Stir-Fried Squid, Fried Rice with bulgogi, Spicy Pork Bulgogi, and some other things. Everything was solid. Am I saying it is the best, no. But absolutely solid for a karaoke joint. It is pricey in my opinion, but again you are paying for the experience more than anything. Go out in group format and split it up. Everyone goes home happy. Soju ran about $16 a bottle, again pricey, but you are not at home. Staff was very quick, and efficient. So that was nice. Me and my friends we were a group of 11 people. We were there on Sunday night and there were 2 female servers, the taller one was aggressive toward us in which even we dont even know why, meanwhile we was really polite toward asking her anything. When she was walking out she even slammed the door several time. Came here on my last day in Houston to celebrate with a group of friends and share one final karaoke night together. Unfortunately, there were multiple problems. First, the karaoke sound system wasn't working properly. It kept blasting at full volume and hurting our ears. Some of my friends had to leave early because it wasn't fun. Using YouTube for songs made queuing awkward, and when we asked the staff for help with the audio, they weren't helpful or didn't seem to care. Other rooms were open, and switching rooms might have been a solution, but that wasn't offered. We ended up spending most of our two hours trying to fix the sound and navigate YouTube ourselves. It felt like wasted time with an apathetic staff. Second, we had come in a few days earlier on Thursday to check out the rooms. A staff member recommended the medium room for our group of 12-15 and said it was $70 per hour. She even encouraged and suggested us to bring up to 20 people. Since it was my last day, I invited a few more friends and we ended up with 20 people total. At no point were we told there would be an additional charge for that. Then, the manager tried to charge me $100 per hour for having 20 people, saying it counted as a "VIP" group even though we were in a smaller room, not the extra-large "VIP" room. We would've been happy to book that larger room, but it wasn't available at our preferred time. I was shocked. Not only was our karaoke experience frustrating and disappointing due to the sound issues, but now they were asking me to pay more? Most places would have been accommodating or at least understanding, maybe even offering a discount since we barely got to sing. Instead, we were charged extra. I've been to many karaoke places and lived in Korea for 3-4 years, so I've had plenty of amazing karaoke experiences. Sadly, I can't recommend this one. If you're looking for a great Korean karaoke spot, I suggest checking out Bar.Kor.D or One Shot Pocha instead. My friends were really disappointed, and I doubt any of us will be back. My experience here was decent although it didn't leave me with any urge to go back. The food was good, but higher in price than it should be. For example, the price of cheese corn in double digits is a bit ridiculous(it's just canned corn kernels, kewpie, and mozzarella). The service was fine, as was the interior decor and cleanliness. The music was a bit too loud to converse comfortably. My biggest ick was the lack of Korean drink options. I've definitely seen other places in htx that offer more drink mixes/flavors. So it's only real differentiation point that it markets off of is the interior decor, that attempts to portray itself as a cool, social, clubbish soju bar that you'd see in Korea. It doesn't reach that vibe though for a variety of reasons. It's more of a restaurant with dark lighting and loud music. So if that's what you're looking for, then yes I recommend! I think there's a few ways that could help create a more lively experience. But overall I'd say the location wasn't particularly memorable, but not bad though. Too loud and dark to be a restaurant. The main reasons I'm leaving this review are: rude and dismissive staff, the premium karaoke room was extremely hot/stuffy and too small for 15 people (not worth $70 an hour), and there were endless issues with the karaoke mics and volume of YouTube. At a karaoke place, the least you need is for the microphones to work... we asked several times for troubleshooting but could barely hear each other sing. We are all tech savvy but still struggled all night with the song/ad volumes on YouTube, with little help from the staff. The food was tasty but expensive. And they slapped a 20% service charge on, which I understand is common for large parties but all they did was bring food into the room and leave us alone the rest of the time. And they seemed so annoyed when we asked them to fix the karaoke machine. So a 20% service fee on top of it all (food/drinks/karaoke room) for 15 people was $140. Unreal. I tried Soju Blues for the first time with a friend after a Wednesday evening of pickleball. Overall, I enjoyed my time here and would return. Disclaimer this is the type of establishment you come to for the vibes, not the food. The inside of the restaurant is dark and largely lit by the bright lights of the screens projecting K-pop performances. The servers that attended to us were friendly. They informed us that Wednesday is ladies' night, so we got some free soju! The food was good overall. I wouldn't recommend coming if you're in search of the best Korean food, but the food is quite serviceable for the pocha vibes. The spicy pork bulgogi was decent. The kimchi fried rice bulgogi was a bit overcooked and stuck to the hot plate but still good overall. My favorite food dish was the seafood scallion pancake. I was pleasantly surprised with how good it was! A lot of seafood pancakes are too doughy or not cooked all the way through, but this one was nice and balanced. On the whole, I'm definitely down to return to try more foods, vibe with friends, and try the karaoke. read more

I had high hopes for this place, especially after hearing good things and planning to bring my friends for a fun night out. Unfortunately, my first visit will also be my last. It was a Sunday night, and the place was practically empty, which should have been an opportunity to deliver great service, but it felt like the bartenders and staff were just going through the motions. First off, if you're going to have a time limit in the karaoke rooms, let your guests know upfront. A friendly reminder goes a long way, especially when people are enjoying themselves. No one wants to feel rushed, especially when they're paying for the experience. Speaking of paying, I had a almost $400 tab, and honestly, it wasn't worth a dime given the terrible service. The servers didn't seem to care at all--incorrect food orders, items I didn't even ask for, and a general lack of attentiveness. I don't mind paying for a good time, but when the staff can't even get the basics right, it's hard to justify. The karaoke room itself was disappointing. It definitely didn't live up to expectations. Overall, this place could have been great, but the service was so bad that it ruined the entire experience. Came on a Saturday night around 8pm and was seated immediately for a table of 4. The inside is pretty spacious with lots of tables; they have private karaoke rooms on the sides as well as seating at the bar. I like how they have a button you can press on the table to signal a server so that you don't have to try to flag them down when it gets busy. We ordered 5 different food items and were surprised to find out that their portion sizes are quite large, unlike at other late night Korean places I had been to before. Once i stepped in there this middle eastern guy/Indian with a beige collared shirt got into my face and instantly assumed i was NOT 21 before i could even show him my ID!! He went so close to my face i could see his pores, i told him to back off that he was too close and he just in my face said "SO ARE YOU NOT 21??" He did NOT look like a body guard or a worker in general. That made me extremely uncomfortable so I immediately left. The owner needs to hire a better and more welcoming staff. I showed up with three other people on a Friday night at around 10pm. There were 6 other tables with customers and 2 people at the bar. We ordered one bottle of soju and were planning to get more but the service was absolute shit. I pressed the button four times and ended up having to stand up and wave my credit card in the air for one of the five servers to bring the check. All the servers were too busy taking shots and giggling behind the bar to pay attention. The time we were there was less than the time it took for me to finally wave down a server. Parking is overcrowded on a weekend night. The setup was pretty good too. It was busy, but the service was prompt and attentive. We got a private room, and you need to reserve them ahead of time. There's a button by the door to call service if you need them, and they provided everything we needed. It was overall a fun experience. Wednesday's are Ladies Night! You get a free bottle of Soju we've been seeing this place pop up on instagram and decided to give it a try. The sky garlic chicken was so good and crispy. The mussel soup was a great addition. This bar is very cute, comfortable seats and concept, and very fun environment. They have a big screen playing kpop music videos and they also have karaoke rooms! Would be fun if they had nights where they did karaoke in the main room. We definitely will add this place to our go to's. read more
