I came back because of my inKind deal but they didn't redeem themselves unfortunately. I got the kinilaw (tuna ceviche) and the tuna pieces were grey-ish and I got horrible food poisoning the next day. The sizzling beef platter is not great, the meat is a little tough with a lot of fat. The pork silog was decent although the sweet seasoning was still too strong. The brussel sprouts were good! The restaurant's music volume was thankfully lower this time. Service was quicker! Food was prepared fast.
I got the pork silog, kinilaw (ceviche) and adobo chicken. The kinilaw was good but not my cup of tea as I'm used to ceviche being citrusy and there was no citrus to give it a zing. The adobo chicken, was not super flavorful beyond being a little salty and the rice portion that it came with was not large. Most of the flavor was in the broth at the bottom but it was so runny that it would have made my rice too soggy to try and eat it alongside the chicken. The pork silog was my favorite the egg on the top was good and there was a decent portion of pork over the top, but it was pretty greasy. All in all everything was pretty good and I could totally seeing this be someone else's comfort food but it was personally not for me!

There is plenty of parking available up front. The interior is a bit less modern and more weary than expected; the booth seats cracking at the seams and look fairly tired, to start. Our group came in for lunch and was and remained the only group that came for lunch service; that was a bit surprising. We ordered family style and got a few dishes including adobo, kare kare, pancit, lumpia, cola adobo, brussel sprouts, and Filipino BBQ (beef short ribs). Overall, the food was fairly average. Kare kare ranked the lowest out of everything we ordered, fairly bland, presentation wasn't exactly super appealing, and just missing flavor and seasoning. The pancit was alright, again, just tasting like a stir fried noodle dish. Some of the dishes came out in what seemed like a microwaved fashion, and overall, we felt everything was okay but not fantastic and flavorful.
After many years, we finally had a chance to come try BMP. In short, we'll be back! This morning was some brunch, and we both had the BMP breakfast featuring two eggs, bacon, one house made longannisa, garlic rice, and ube pancakes with coconut syrup. The eggs were great with a sublime runny yolk, bacon was a little on the limp side, longannisa was unique and less sweet than normal, and the garlic rice was yummy with a definite butter undertone. Star of the breakfast was the ube pancakes though and that coconut syrup was reminiscent of Singaporean Kaya spread. Oh, and we also tried the crispy fried musubi, which we both enjoyed. The only downside, besides the limp bacon, was not letting us know that the diced Thai chilis would be a $1 charge. I don't mind the buck, but would be nice to let folks know up front.
When I want to go back to my roots, I always visit here. I really love this place and it's a vibe. The decor is so cute!! The wait staff is always super nice, and very helpful. Everything that I have eaten here has been very delicious and I always look forward to trying something new. Last time I was here I had the crispy spam musubi, S. C. C. L. B. F. R with shrimp, and my favorite the SISIG. That one is truly an amazing dish. They also have very cute karaoke rooms that I have used for meetings with friends or work meetings lol but during the day when they weren't busy.
Be More Pacific, a Filipino American café in the Heights on Yale, is a place I've had on my list for a while. I was intrigued by the idea of a more contemporary spin on Filipino cuisine. I've tried Jollibee before, but somehow I think that doesn't really count. Haha. From the outside, the place looks interesting with cool signage and outdoor seating. The seating outside wasn't occupied at the time, of course, because it was way too hot outside--95 degrees plus, with humidity off the charts. Immediately upon walking in, I was thrown off by two things: the dim lighting and the unoccupied and un-staffed bar situated right next to the door. Having stood there for a while (3 minutes plus, I would say), I wondered if this is the kind of presentation the owners want. I literally did not see any other staff initially aside from the one waiter on the floor. But on to the food: Lumpia (Shanghai) [3/5]: I thought the Lumpia (shrimp and pork), described as the Shanghai variety, was good, but instead of 6 full pieces, it was really more like 4 full pieces with two halves. The sauce is rather sweet with a kick. I tend to prefer savory sauces, but I did enjoy this sauce. Crispy Spam Musubi [4/5]: I love Spam Musubi and was excited to try Be More Pacific's take on it. The Musubi, which appeared to be deep fried, has the following ingredients: a house-made version of Spam, rice, nori and Panko crust with Musubi sauce. I thought this Musubi was kind of on the dry side in the interior and it seemed to be missing flavor. The sauce is good but could use either some kick or another savory dimension. This version, while I liked it, convinced me I just prefer regular Spam Musubi, which tends to be juicier. Overall, I would rate Be More Pacific as 3/5.
Went here again for a friend's graduation and was anticipating a similar experience from my first time and guess what chat...they definitely cooked (this is good). We had the karaoke room rented out and it was private area sealed off from the rest of the restaurant which was really nice! The equipment inside wasn't horrible and worked fine but the quality of the equipment could be updated maybe in the near future. There was a mic that was held together by some tape but hey, it worked so what more can I say. Let's get to the food, so last time I raved about the crispy pork belly, but this time I wanted to try the marinated pork, the tocino! And oh my goodness gracious, the PORTION of meat they give you should seriously be given an award cause it was glorious. Shimmering, well plated, and filling. Mixing it up with that egg, and garlic rice just really hit. Gotta say that add that in with the family style eating environment just adds to the overall experience. Service again was fantastic and very caring and attentive for our needs. Just awesome. Look I've might of only eaten at two Filipino-based establishments but give me a air horn and flag cause I am a certified fan of the food and honestly makes me want to try even more restaurants!
We went here for a birthday party for karaoke and dinner. Our extremely large group was shown to a room in the back with one large table with a large tv screen mounted on the wall at one end. Two mics were provided and in the following hours almost constant service was provided. The employees were courteous and the service was great, though sometimes took a while, which was to expected with such a crowd. The cocktails were tasty and the main dish I ordered, the adobo, was delicious. The chicken meat was succulent and the gravy with the rice was rich and aromatic. The karaoke part was nice too, though it seemed more like an add on to dinner. A great experience overall!
Be More Pacific's "Kamayan" dinner was truly an experience from start to finish! My whole family enjoyed everything. We even did karaoke in the private room to end our dinner. Service was great and food is always good. Thanks BMP for modernizing and increasing the popularity of Filipino food and culture in the Houston area!
Not sure why I had not came to this spot before! Came here on a lazy Sunday and it was a bliss, just a few people there but I enjoyed the calm atmosphere at least that day. Instead of giving my filipino ex a second chance, I decided to give Filipino food a second chance--and honestly, best decision ever. Kilawin (Filipino Ceviche) - 5/5 A total flavor bomb! The tangy, citrusy kick of the ceviche paired with the salty crunch of shrimp chips? Chef's kiss. This dish alone makes me wonder why I stayed away for so long. Adobo Chicken - 5/5 I knew adobo was a staple in the Philippines, but I wasn't prepared for how much I'd love it. Rich, savory, slightly tangy, and absolutely perfect with rice. Hands down, my favorite dish of the night. Daing na Bangus (Fried Milkfish) - 4/5 Crispy, flavorful, and served with garlic rice and a fried egg--solid combo. While it's well-executed, I'm just not a huge fish person, so this was more of a me issue than a dish issue. Pork Sisig - 3/5 This dish pulls no punches--it's crispy, fatty, and packed with flavor. But wow, is it greasy. I could feel my arteries protesting with every bite. Tasty, but definitely a once-in-a-while indulgence. Halo-Halo - 5/5 I've always wanted to try halo-halo, and this did not disappoint! Sweet, creamy, and full of textures. If you're Vietnamese, think Chè Ba Màu but on steroids. My only complaint? I wish there were more toppings! Would I come back? Absolutely. Filipino food got the second chance my ex didn't--and I have zero regrets.
10/10 for the Adobo chicken. The flavors were highly enjoyable. The crispy spam musubi was great especially with the dipping sauce. The ribeye was also good but didn't compete with the other elite menu items that were ordered. The price point is decent for what you get. Would definitely come back and try their drink menu and desserts.
Came in on a sun night and was seated immediately Food 5/5: Got the chili wings, ribeye, egg noodles, lechon and the short rib. Everything tasted excellent, my personal favorite was the chili wings, incredibly crispy yet very saucy at the same time. Can't go wrong with anything tho, ribeye was not as tender as I prefer but very flavorful Service 5/5: gave fantastic recommendations, friendly, and food came out quickly Ambiance 4/5: casual relaxed ambiance with a bar, clean, well lit. Came here on a nice Wednesday night weatherwise. Their happy hour is all day on Wednesdays which is a plus and they have a number of bar bites discounted $3-5 dollars. My BMP calamansi margarita was distinct in its tanginess. Tried the veggie lumpias and brussel sprouts. The lumpias had tangy dipping sauce that might have been dominated by calamansi. More tang than savory. The brussel sprouts were standard but had a good portion. I tried to detect whether they used fish sauce but I couldn't tell. Ordered the daing na bangus (milkfish) as my entree. They gave me the whole fish and it threw me off that it was mostly deboned since I kept looking for the bones with my tongue and teeth. Fish was nice and crispy and the dipping sauce was more savory than what came with the lumpias. The garlic rice that came with the dish was smoky from that wok hay. Probably could have used a little more soy sauce for flavouring. My favourite dish was the turon dessert (fried bananas) along with the ube ice cream. The coconut sauce they used seemed more like caramel. I haven't eaten much Filipino food so I wasn't sure how authentic the dishes were. I was expecting a little more intensity in the flavours, and I don't know if it was toned down for their customers. There were around ten customers that night. The inside was beautiful and they have a two level patio that is perfect for nights like these. The service was very nice and the kitchen was faster than I expected. read more

Restaurant is never busy, ambiance is cool with the bar and open patio area. Beyond that, food and service wasn't the best. Waiting staff was short and uninterested throughout our meal. Took my card to the back kitchen for some reason to pay. Food is labeled as homestyle authentic Filipino food but honestly just felt lacking in quality ingredients and flavor. I do love that the dishes themselves are authentic options but the execution lacked here. Has a lot of potential to be so much better with limited Filipino spots in the area. read more

Plenty of parking out front. Nice clean restaurant with cute decor. Tuesday thru Friday they have happy hour drinks and food from 11am to 6 pm. Server was friendly. I ordered the happy hour bbq/ short ribs, and my bf ordered the longonisa tots and the fried banana eggrollsx2. Also ordered the happy hour Lychee morejito. The? Monitor was refreshing and not too strong, the bbq was delish but you only get like 1 strip of short ribs. Rice bowl was an added cost. The longonisa tots were tasty but also a small portion FYI. We ordered the fried banana and they gave us veggie eggrolls by mistake. The veggie eggrolls and fried banana were delish. We even ordered a second order of fried bananas, they had jack fruit in them and were drizzled in a sweet sauce. I feel like the food is pricey but the quality is good. First time in here. Just curious so me and hubby tried the food. He ordered sisig bistec and it was great but very fatty. I ordered daing na bangus but I was disappointed the belly wasn't included in the Bangus. The Bangus tastes great but they just didn't include the belly. Love the belly part of Bangus oh well. We ordered Ube ice cream for dessert but the ube doesn't tastes like ube at all. I don't know it felt like made up ice cream with purple color but it wasn't a real ube flavor. Service was ok and ambiance was nice. Restroom needs cleaning thou. The paper towel was at the diaper table because the automatic machine for paper towels doesn't work or it's empty inside. read more

Came here to enjoy the weather on a sunny day a few weeks ago. I had the beef short ribs, cucumber salad, and garlic fried rice and one of their frozen drinks (I forget the name of the drink I ordered). Everything was delicious! Service was good and the ambience is nice too. read more
Solid 3. Def needs some improvement but great food. Could have been an off day. Food: the food is def four stars. The short ribs are amazing and full of flavor. I will say this, though the dishes is quite short, a few rib ribs very small portion for the price. However, the flavor is amazing and I would order that again. The side of fried rice was OK. It was quite dry actually. The eggrolls were decent just fried and a lot of grease. Other than that. I really enjoyed those. The pork belly that my girlfriend got was really good. Great flavor. Things to work on: they were short staffed so we waited a little bit at the host stand to get seated. Then the two people work we're passing by us left and right he finally had a flag someone down and said hey can I get some menus and a drink order going again it's not their fault. They're simply shortstaffed. These are the things to work on though ASAP. Your soda machine even your own staff said the soda machine isn't good. You charge 3 to 4 dollars for a soda. Why can't you get that right. That just simply neglect. It doesn't take that much effort to make sure your soda is mixing properly. Also, I think the portion size for the rib could use a few more pieces of rib. Other than that we were pretty happy with overall flavor of the food. Maybe I caught him on a bad day for the rice, but it was dry, which is weird because I've never had dry rice. I'll definitely come by and give them another shot. Solid three stars. read more

Really great restaurant with good vibes, good food, and friendly staff :) I saw this place featured on an episode of Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives and knew I had to check it out when I was in Houston. I was not disappointed. The food was solid, with a great modern fusion take on Filipino food. The crispy tots with the crumbled meat and cheese was a delicious appetizer. The Garlic Rice with spiced ham and Longganisa was delicious. The sausage had a great snap and was both sweet and savory. The spiced ham added a great savory note. Overall, fantastic restaurant that I hope continues to have a lot of success :) read more

We had lunch on a Friday. 2 pm. We were the only diners the entire time. Nice table, good service. Husband had pancit. It was very good. I had my test dish. Chicken adobo. Different. Not my favorite. Maybe someone else' favorite. Not mine. Rice was great. I suspect it lacked garlic. ? Apple cider vinegar. ? As someone said: not my cup of tea. We also had flan. It was different than what I preferred. Can be appreciated. It had coconut milk. Flan I prefer is creamy and flavored with lime, lime zest. Pleasant restaurant. Nice restaurant. I've not written B M P off. There's much to try. Comfortable, nice restaurant. Service very good. We were checked on often. Food very well presented. read more

Ordered sisig and lechon kawali kare kare but when the order was delivered no meat at all on kare kare. I paid extra for the lechon kawali but only received veggies on my kare kare super disappointing. We lived pretty far and I was not about to drive there to complain. read more
We went during happy hour and ordered off that menu. We got the baby repolyo, lechon kawali, crispy spam musubi, tacos, longganisa tots, chickcharon, and cucumber salad. Everything was just ok. I enjoyed the lechon kawali, longganisa tots, and cucumber salad out of everything. read more
Coming from New Orleans there zero Filipino spots so I took a chance to jump on one when I found one in Houston. Be more pacific filled the craving. I had the Sweet garlic fried rice with shrimp down Shanghai Dynamite lumpia and the chicken skins with the spicy vinegar sauce. They were all delicious. The sweet garlic rice definitely was flavorful. Decided to get the egg scrambled which wasn't my choice. I prefer the runny egg but it was still good. Either way, the spicy Dynamite definitely live to the name that soriano pepper hits. And the spicy vinegar sauce with the chicken skins was definitely a great compliment to the appetizer. The server was very attentive and explained the menu if you had any questions and the ambience of the spot was very nice. They even had an outdoor seating option available for when they have happy hour and events during the weekdays and weekends. I definitely would try to spot again to explore the rest of the menu when in Houston. read more

I went here Sunday over the July 4th weekend. First off, the decor (and the t-shirts) are quite "punny," especially if you're a Filipino. The place was lively, loud, and busy, but not overbearingly so. I ordered lumpia. I'm quite familiar with it, having eaten it many times, here, there, even over there in Manila. These are among the best I've tried. Double-wrapped, and perfectly crispy. The taste of the filling is balanced. It's good on its own, with sinamak (I like the Mama Sita brand), or with their own spicy banana ketchup! The service is fast. The staff is polite, and from what I could see, the bartenders were attentive and efficient. Speaking of the bar, they offer calamansi-based drinks. They have two karaoke rooms, but there wasn't any karaoke going on while I was there. read more
Very good food at this place, I've been here twice, the staff is nice. The food comes out fresh and hot from the kitchen. The service is not very fast even if it's not busy so definitely come when you have time to lounge around and just enjoy the vibe. There is lively music playing Outside and inside. It's not so loud that you can't have a conversation. But if you're on the phone, it may be a little bit difficult for them to hear you period I had the Brussels sprouts in the veggie egg rolls this time.. Both were delicious.The brussels sprouts were so crispy and selled in such a sweet awesome sauce that I dipped my egg rolls in that sauce is well l o l. Came in on a Sunday around 6:45-ish - there was no wait and it was not busy at all. The music can be/was quite loud, so keep that in mind. Our server was helpful in suggesting what dishes we should try given our dietary preferences and there are clearly-marked vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free options on the menu. We got the Tuna Sisig as an appetizer, the Seafood Sinigang (a tamarind soup with mussels, prawn, salmon, and vegetables) and Daing na Bangus (milkfish with garlic rice and fried egg) as our entrees, and the Halo-Halo for dessert. The portions are good for sharing. All the food came out at the appropriate temperatures and in a timely manner. The tuna in the sisig was tasty, but we both felt that the bell pepper in the dish really stood out - it was tender, crunchy, and carried the sauces well. Our favorite dish was definitely the milkfish, which was cooked well and went excellently with the paired garlic rice. I quite liked the Halo-Halo, especially with the ube ice cream. The evaporated milk with the shaved ice and all of the toppings are so good combined! I do wish there were more bits of the leche flan, particularly as it was a shared portion. This could be a personal preference, but the white beans have a different bite to them than the red beans which were softer. The white beans were a bit harder so it was a bit odd - I am not sure if that is how it is supposed to be though! We really liked the mango and the coconut, especially the flakes on top. Nut allergy friendly: I think some sauces have nuts but we had no issues with any of our dishes. Order-to-Entree: 10 minutes after 9PM. We got here pretty late, around 9:20PM Saturday night. Still a good number of people there and both Karaoke rooms were full of people. With three people, we decided to share these dishes below. Sadly, our rice came out undercooked on all dishes, and we reported this to the kitchen when we got checked on. Scores below are assuming the rice isn't undercooked. Tosilog (5/5): All of us unanimously agreed it was the best dish here. The portions of meat are appropriate. Spamsilog & Longsilog (3.5/5): One sausage and two pieces of spam felt a little light. The spam was seared nicely. The sausage flavor reminds me a lot of Chinese sausage. Tapsilog (3/5): I felt that the amount of ribeye was not enough compared to the rice. There was cartilege in some ribeye pieces that made them hard to eat. The sunny side up egg on all silogs were perfect. Leche Flan (2.5/5 - 3.5/5): Reviews varied in our group. Ultimately, we felt that it was more of a creme brulee than a flan. The top is flame burned like a creme brulee. The flan wasn't that flavorful without the caramel. Unfortunately, they were out of the Halo Halo and Ube ice cream. Overall disappointing considering those are half of the options for the Restaurant Week menu. Overall, I would come back for the Tosilog and try the happy hour, but it was disappointing. 4/5 with -1 for the undercooked rice but +1 for the fantastic tosilog, but I look forward to revising my rating with other dishes here. read more

BMP is a great place to hang out, especially for groups! I've done karaoke here a couple of times and have had a lot of fun. They have two karaoke rooms. I've only been in the larger one. I would estimate that it can accommodate about 10-15 people comfortably. They have an extensive song catalog which you can access via QR code. It's very easy and straightforward to use. The dining area is a moderate size and they have a nice patio out front. The staff has always been very friendly and attentive. They have reverse happy hour on Fridays after 9 pm. Drinks: Some of the cocktails that I've tried are the GQCucumber, the Red Panda, and the Sunset in Sulu. They also have mimosa and beer towers. On one visit, the server brought us a water tower which was so convenient for our large group. Food: The one dish that I've tried a few times and have consistently enjoyed is the Veggie Lumpia. The Brussels were too sweet and had way too much sauce. The Cucumber Salad is okay. It's tart and vinegar forward. It's not a salad, it's more like marinated sliced cucumbers. The Chickcharons aren't bad, but they are very greasy. Some pieces were a little too chewy for my preference. BMP shares a private lot with a few other businesses. There's a decent amount of parking and I've never had trouble getting a spot. There's also some street spots on 5th as well as Yale right in front of the shopping complex. We ordered this on uber eats months ago when we were here. So this time we went to have it fresh. The atmosphere was amazing, the service by Allison's service was above par. She made amazing recommendations, could pronounce the dishes correctly, and ensured we were taken care of. We will definitely be back again this place was awesome! read more
The location of this place is off the Waugh exit and at the cross streets of Yale and 5th street. It's beside "The Teahouse" and 3 stores beside "Parlor Donuts". A well-known, rare Filipino Fusion Restaurant location in Houston, that Guy Fiere and other celebrity Chef's and entertainers visit when in town. The food is a delicious fusion wherein your mouth will say, "mmmm" with a surprise! I'm also Filipino and their food has a twist that's literally mouth watering and unforgettable. The waitress, "Lesley" is not only a naturally pretty face to greet you, she is engaging, professional and as lovely a person to converse with at the bar. Your time here will be well-spent! They offer private karaoke rooms, minimal requirement to spend $150 per hour of food/drinks. There's also an open karaoke in their restaurant, once a month. Call them beforehand, to find out when it's open karaoke. They offer all drinks with the trending "hugely decorative ice cube"; you can request for a smaller ice or none. San Miguel beer? Instead, they provide you with alternatively "just as delicious beers". The vibe here is family friendly seating, to a bar atmosphere. The first Top Gun movie filmed a bar scene, where the bar sits as the main attraction, this place reflects design. You'll definitely not want to miss this spot! Came here for reverse happy hour recently (prob my third visit overall). Drinks were good, but the food left a lot to be desired. The spam musubi was half of the normal portion and not worth. We also had the burger but I wasn't a fan...I love grilled onions but there were WAY too much in the burger. It just didn't mesh well with all of the flavors. I'm glad that I tried Filipino food again. I had been trying 3 restaurants before and didn't like it all. But finally I found the one that I like. Food was better than I expected. That crispy pork was so good. It's similar to the Vietnamese crispy pork . Staff was also good. They have a cute patio outside for warm weather. read more

Yes. If you sit outside. You probably already know this, but just just have your dog relive itself on the outside of the restaurant and not the seating area. Just be a good pawparent which you probably are Bc you wanna bring your four legged kid. 😊
I have a big group coming in for dinner. Is it possible to make reservations?
If you have a very large group I would recommended to call ahead and make reservations. As for the restaurant is the busiest on weekends and happy hour times during the week.
