Great service and great food. First time to Santa Fe and this place came highly recommended and didn't disappoint.

Again, another good argument for Yelp allowing 1/2 stars. I would give them 3 1/2 stars but I just can't bring myself to give them 4. A pretty good high-end restaurant but not what I expected and I've been to much better. Our wait was not long but the lounge is ridiculously cramped and crowded. I had to move around the small area a lot to seat my wife and allow for other guests to get out of the lounge and into the dining room. The lounge is tiny and dimly lit but has a cozy fireplace and way too few tables and a bar that will only seat 5 or 6 comfortably. My wife had a ridiculously overpriced house Pinot Grigio and I an American Paulaner (not the German bottle) served in a completely wrong glass for a weiss beer. Others have mentioned that they only seem to have one type of wine glass--the same is true of their beer glasses. The dining room is much less cramped but the tables were still pretty close together. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and professional. As others have mentioned, the wine list was not impressive and the prices were pretty appalling. We settled on a half bottle of a quite good Syrah that still ran $55. The least expensive bottle on the menu was $55 for an average Sangiovese. Many of the items on their online menu and dishes that they are known for were not on the menu, which the waiter explained is printed nightly. No pork belly, no Hamachi, no shrimp soup. I had the sticky duck salad, my wife the $15 onion soup (!!!) The duck in the salad was very good, perfectly cooked and sat on a very tasty sweet potato cake. The salad component was quite good except it had a sour citrus bite (it may have had grapefruit or some other element to it) and the raspberry dressing drizzled on the plate didn't go with the duck or the salad at all. I'm still trying to figure out what part of the salad was supposed to make it "sticky." My wife's onion soup was okay, had a lot of onion in it, but the broth didn't taste much different than a very strong Lipton Onion Soup mix. The slice of baguette and the ravioli set into the soup were quite good. Surprisingly there was no cheese to speak of, just a creme fraiche. We both decided we've had better onion soups for a lot less than $15. I ordered the Miso Sea Bass on the waiter's recommendation, my wife ordered the elk which the waiter ranked second. (Side note: Here's a big beef I've had about the last couple of high-end restaurants I've eaten at: When the waiter brought our entrees over he didn't describe them at all--just set them down, asked if everything was okay, and left. This is a BIG negative in restaurants where the structure of the dish is just as important as the dish itself. I've had to refer to the online menu to write this review.) My sea bass was generously portioned and perfectly cooked. It sat atop a bowl of very tasty homemade ramen noodles and an incredibly rich and flavorful miso. The trumpet mushrooms and even the basil were lost in the flavors of the noodles and miso. Honestly i think I liked the noodles and miso more than the bass itself. The elk was striking; much different than either of us had anticipated. Imagine an elk being raised like a veal calf; unable to move and fed a diet of porridge and butter. That's what the elk brought to mind. Buttery soft, very rich, not in the least bit gamey, melts in your mouth. Not even any real toothiness to it to speak of. Honestly it's hard to say whether I found it good or bad. I guess I'd been expecting some boldly flavored, wild, sink-your-teeth-in piece of meat but it seemed to be more like eating a filet mignon but with less "beef" flavor. Still a fine cut of tender and nicely flavored meat though. Very rich and tasty mashed potatoes and bits of smoky bacon to add a nice depth to the dish. We didn't get dessert, we were full. It's hard to gauge this meal. Nothing about it stood out or wowed us. For this type of restaurant you would expect that either some dish or the whole meal would be spectacular and memorable. No part of our meal really could make that claim. Overall very good but not great. At this price point and at this kind of place, I'm expecting great. read more

It's all about sublime food for me and despite the excellent service, the luxurious space, the food was exceptional. I had a Caesar salad and a seared tuna main course. Both were, at the same time, familiar and totally transformed. The Caesar had a horseradish dressing and rice croûtons. The tuna was perhaps the best I've ever had - seared perfectly, melt in your mouth smooth and the flavor! On a wonderfully complex bed of garlic mashed potatoes with bok choy and over all a lovely soy-based sauce. Good wine pairings by the glass, but the list was beyond our means. Although we did quite enjoy our location by the kiva and the kitchen entrance, for the hustling of the staff was worth a separate admission charge as entertainment, others might find the pace a bit frenetic and should ask to be seated away from that location (there are several rooms) Valet parking is essential but done with style too. What a great evening! My boyfriend had flowers delivered to Geronimo for our dinner which they brought over shortly after we were seated. They also brought two glasses of champagne over for our anniversary toast. The dinner that followed was fantastic, I had an Asian inspired sea bass and my boyfriend had the salmon. Both were prepared perfectly and delicious! We shared the flourless German chocolate cake for dessert. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly, checking in with us to see that everything was as expected...Perfect evening! read more

We visited Santa Fe on our way back to Arizona and I had heard how good the food was at Geronimo. We picked Geronimo to celebrate our anniversary, Unfortunately for us , we had a cooking demonstration at the Santa Fe School of Cooking the same day which included lunch, so we were not particularly hungry in the evening. But this was our last night in Santa Fe, and it was or anniversary! Brenda kindly found room to change our 6:30 reservation to 7:30, and we were seated in the main room in a lovely banquette table. Our waiter, Brook, brought complimentary flutes of Gruet Sparkling Brut for a toast. We chose a bottle of Ponzi Pinot Gris which was moderately priced, an Oregon winery we were familiar with, and it didn't disappoint! GB had the Wasabi Caesar salad and I selected the Asian Pear Salad. What wonderful flavors..........Brook let us pace our meal as we liked, as they seem to not be concerned with turning the tables, as some restaurants are. I really wanted the Tenderloin Steak Frites and GB the Elk, which are their signature dishes, but we were just not that hungry! So I chose the Roast Chicken and GB had the Maple Glazed Salmon. Frankly, the chicken was unremarkable but the Salmon.......ohhhhh. His eyes glazed over! The Israli couscous were so creamy, it was decadent. I do not eat anything that swims (except Costco canned tuna), but he enticed me to try the Salmon, and it was so delicious, I would order that myself. No room for dessert, but we will come back when we can order their two specialties and one of their fabulous looking desserts. read more

Polished, in all respects. Very assured service that knows the food and the wines -- and doesn't presume that you need their first names in order to order dinner. Beautiful, quiet surroundings with plenty of superb artwork from the galleries on Canyon Road. Assured cooking, European in style -- i.e., not over the top but balanced -- and the best dessert my wife and I had in our 4 Santa Fe nights: a lemon cream pastry to justify another thousand mile trek to NM. Not a vegetarian, I nevertheless chose the 4-course mushroom dinner, which was delicious even while I almost gagged on the surfeit of shrooms. After being on a road trip throughout New Mexico (on a diet of literally McDonald's and top ramen), I decided to indulge myself while in Santa Fe. I had heard about Geronimo for a couple of years now, but I had never been. Made reservations for 6:30 on a Saturday and got there just around 6:32. The hostess wasn't around, and servers kept walking by without any recognition of my party. Off-putting. My friend joked that the hostess was going to the bathroom, which seems feasible looking back at it. Finally we got our table. I ordered the duck spring rolls appetizer and the elk main. The spring rolls were very disappointing, one-note in flavor and overall just lacking. It was not at all worth the $18 price. And they were soaking in agave sauce, which made them messy and hard to eat as they collapsed apart. So far, it wasn't looking very good. The bread was more promising. The flatbread was nice, but the green chili bread was very tasty. I could go for some right now. And then we got the elk main, which redeemed the whole trip. Every ingredient in the dish played a role, working harmoniously together. I had never had elk meat before, but this left a good impression. Very strong dish. My party passed on dessert. The prices at Geronimo were a tad higher than I'd prefer for what you get, but the main dish was quite good. Service, other than the beginning, was attentive. Another thing worth noting is that this was the fastest fine dining experience I have ever had. Very speedy with coming out with the dishes. I doubt I'll ever go back only because I don't think I'll be in the area, but if you like fine dining and are in Santa Fe, Geronimo is solid. read more

Fantastic restaurant! I was in Santa Fe for a weekend holiday trip with my girlfriend at the time and we made reservations here for dinner. It was truly incredible, I had the elk tenderloin and my date had a dinner special with lobster and filet. They were both delightful. The ambiance is great, little side rooms and bar area off the main dining room and friendly staff. The drinks are fantastic and the food is even better. It is a bit pricey so be prepared to open up the pocket book on this one, but it is worth every penny! read more

Very unique experience. Located on Canyon road, it feels like a very quaint Santa Fe version of Rodeo. Eclectic decor and food to match - interesting variety from MD blue crab to New Mexican elk. What an absolute delight, to eat at this place. Even though we were dressed a little casually for such a fancy place, we were treated with utmost respect and consideration by every member of the waitstaff. The food and cocktails were DIVINE. I didn't even realize a margarita could be that special, but mine was amazing. The elk was perfection. The endive salad was light and tasty. The miso sea bass was so fresh and delicate. And to finish it off, one of the absolute best desserts of my LIFE, was that lemon crepe creation. We loved the atmosphere -- a truly classy, cozy place, with impeccable service. Had a great meal here to celebrate my 40th Birthday. Started off sharing the Miso Caesar with my wife which was really one of the better Caesar salads I have had at a restaurant. She then had the Seabass for her main, while I had the elk. Both used top notch ingredients and were perfectly prepared. Wine list was heavily lopsided towards ridiculously pricey offerings, but there were a couple of high-value gems to be found. Lastly, our server was professional but rather cold until I made an effort to engage. Afterwards she was a bit warmer. Decor is cool southwest shabby chic, with clean lines and warm colors and textures. Dessert was hilarious. We always like to clarify if the restaurant is gonna comp a dessert when celebrating a birthday so we don't over order. When my wife let the hostess know we were celebrating my Birthday, the hostess responded "that's great, we'll put a candle in whatever dessert you order. Hah! read more

Had an excellent dining experience here for my dear friend's birthday. We are both from San Francisco so we know from good food. Our waiter was perfect (Jay? Jake?) the food delicious, and the ambience warm and cozy. They seat couples next to each other, not across and that was something new. The walk along Canyon Road is part of the fun seeing all of the galleries. Highly recommended. read more

I must admit that on particularly cold evenings in Santa Fe I die for a warm fireplace. A pal and I sauntered over to Geronimo on Saturday night, narrowly avoided a close encounter with the vile valet Don Juan, and squeezed as elegantly as possible into the tiny yet wonderfully warm sidebar. The bottles of Veuve Clicquot are really quite affordable and so obviously necessary. Especially considering the fire was so luxuriously warm I could even strip down to a simple cashmere underthing. I suppose I will have to try the food next time....update to follow, then. However, one thing for sure: BEST FIREPLACE IN ALL THE LAND! read more

One of the best restaurants I've ever experienced. The customer service was excellent, the serving staff was really on point and dedicated to mine and my partner's culinary ride! Sadly, my partner came down with altitude sickness (we were visiting from Maryland!) and the staff were extremely accommodating and sympathetic. The food we are (then and later the next morning) was absolutely DIVINE. I've never had a lobster chowder where the broth had such a hardcore lobster flavor. My mushroom prix fix was AMAZING and my partner and I obsess over the Meyer lemon curd crepe (I'm a pastry chef and so would love to stáge just to learn the secret of their buttery rich lemon curd, hahaha, I wish). Again, the best restaurant you'll find in New Mexico and the west. So happy we went there! read more

ABSOLUTELY fantastic. We arrived for our reservation and were greeted with flutes of champagne (it was our anniversary). that was just the start. Our waitress Dinka was superb - pleasant, prompt and very knowledgable. she knew the menu completely and was not afraid to recommend, and dissuade from certain items. she was also well versed in the wine list and made excellent reccs. the bus boys and other staff were just as accommodating and seemed to genuinely love their job. We started with the seared tuna and tuna tartare app. Both were superb as was the wasabi ceme fraiche accompanying sauce. unfortunately the tuna portion was too small. we also got the soft shell crab BLT. the crab was large and meaty, the bacon crunchy and lean, and the bread light with a good crust. oh yeah, the initial chili rolls were warm and crusty. Now dinner was the real masterpiece. the wife had the white mexican shrimp. served in a napoleon style, the shrimp were plump and moist. they were served over a crusted jasmine rice cake and yuzu basil aioli that stood on its own. however, the elk tenderloin, which was rated very highly by others, exceeded all expectations. although elk is a lean meat, the texture was smooth and the meat super tender and flavorful. one of the best pieces for meat i have ever enjoyed. the creamy brandied mushroom sauce only served to enhance an already perfect entree. if the rest of the menu disappeared, i would come back for the elk alone (except i live in New Jersy, so that's not going to happen!). when i could not decide on a red wine, Dinka brought a sample tasting of 3 to choose from. of course i went with her recommendation. We finished with capaccino/espresso and shared the orange creamsicle cake. it was sweet, moist and a wonderful finish to a fantastic meal. read more

From the moment we sat down, to the desert course, the service was perfect. We did have a long wait after our reservation time, though. Our party of five enjoyed some of the best steaks and tenderloins we have had. We are from Chicago, and we know steaks! The veggies were also done to perfection. Geronimo is a "must-spurge while in Santa Fe" evening. It is one of the best restaurants in town. We sat on the patio and enjoyed people watching and night breezes. Take time to walk around the area (Canyon Road) as it is full of art galleries. We had the Wagu beef carpaccio, ahi sashimi, salmon and lobster. We ended with the lemon crepe, a must try. It was amazing. They have a nice wine menu and the staff is very attentive. It is definitely worth the money, bring a lot! read more

Wow. The best meal we had on our Santa Fe trip. Excellent service, everyone was very nice and helpful. We got to sit out on the portico, which was a great place to be. The wait staff was on top of everything and engaging and gave excellent recommendations. I started with the ahi tuna starter which was delicious and had the sea bass for an entree. Loved everything, it was flavorful and fresh, just as good as anything I've had in OC or LA. We ended with the lemon crepes which were amazing and were highly recommended by the wait staff. We went here for my husband's birthday celebration, and came out really happy with the quality and taste of food, hospitality and ambience of the place . Our server, Frank from France was absolutely brilliant. He got us free champagne and port wine for my husband's birthday - absolutely delish. I got the miss bass dish - which has the miso soup with ramen noodles and book choy. The bass fish had subtle flavors of pesto. It was a delicious dish, and the best part was that it felt quite light to eat. My husband got the four course vegetarian meal, and it came with a salad, bisque, main course and dessert. We split the mushroom bisque, and I am still craving for the lingering truffle taste in my mind. I don't know the name of the vegetarian main course but it was orgasmic, and I had to really focus myself on my food, and not devour my husband's meal, lol. Frank let us replace the fixed dessert item with anything from the dessert menu, and we got the German chocolate cake. It was a bit sweet for me but the variety of textures rendered by vanilla ice cream, oreo mix, berry compote and caramel sauce made it wonderful, and to top that Frank got us free port wine. I completely forgot to mention the warm bread that the place offers- sourdough, chilli and lavash. My favorite was the chilli bread, yummy. For drinks, we got the Granada Martini and the Boreregas(something that rhymes with this) Margarita. We loved the Margarita as it had a subtle chilli flavor. Last but not least, use OpenTable for making your reservations. Have fun! read more

This is an issue with reservations and a lack of communication or courtesy on the part of Geronimo. We're celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary in Santa Fe this weekend and we had made reservations at Geronimo. We explained to them that I'm in a wheelchair, so the restaurant needed to be ADA compliant. They said 'no problem, we're accessible'. So we made the reservation on Open Table, per their instructions. Today, on the advice of a friend, we called Geronimo to confirm they were ADA. This time we were told no, they were not ADA compliant. The only ADA access was an outside patio and it was already booked by a large party. Then they said, "you made the reservations, you should have known." So they lied, refused to help in any way and then blamed us for being inept. What kind of place blames their customers for their own mistakes??!! No apologies, no offer to rebook at a discount; just blame us and say it's our fault! I don't care if they're selling Kobe beef for the price of a Big Mac, there is no way Geronimo is ever getting our business. If you want courtesy and consideration to be a part of your dining experience, don't bother with Geronimo. They obviously can't be bothered to do anything unless it suits them. read more

My husband and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary and from the moment we arrived it did not disappoint. The valet guy was the friendliest we have ever met and the hostess was also a wonderful welcome. Our waiter Grant is one of the best servers we have ever had - and we go to a lot of really nice restaurants. He was so friendly and personable, attentive, knowledgable about the menu, and made us feel special knowing we were celebrating our anniversary. The food was DELICIOUS!! Simply the best. We split the wedge salad and the mushroom truffle gnocchi as appetizers and both were delicious. The gnocchi was expensive for an appetizer ($60) but it was actually an entree that we made into an appetizer, and it was honestly the best gnocchi I have ever had. I traveled to Italy to attend the truffle festival there a few years back and this was even better than what I had there. My husband ordered the elk for his entree and said it was one of the most delicious meals of his entire life. I chose the sea bass which did not disappoint. It has an Asian twist to it - served with ramen noodles and bok choy, and it was amazing!! For dessert we got the ice cream and gelato trio - all homemade and sooo good!! The service is the best I have ever had and the food is also at the top of the list of one of the best meals I have ever had. The ambiance also did not disappoint. It's a cozy restaurant with nice decor, great lighting (bright enough to see but soft enough to be romantic). This is my first time in Santa Fe but I may visit again simply to eat at this restaurant. It is a must for anyone visiting the city! People complain about the pricing on here but we didn't find it to be that bad. Sure the gnocchi was expensive but...we got 2 appetizers (one of which was $60 itself and technically an entree), 2 entrees, and a dessert all for under $200. Had we skipped the gnocchi it would have all been around $125 which is unheard of for a place this nice. My husband recently took me to at a Michelin star restaurant in Los Angeles and spent over three times the amount of money on that meal than we spent here but we loved the food at Geranimo WAY more. While visiting Santa Fe we had an absolutely amazing meal here. The restaurant is a series of cozy room that have somewhere between 4-7 tables each, which is nice, gave it a romantic feel.
