Stopped by for a dinner with kiddos. We got outdoor seating and it was well heated. We got a serving of the bread. It was warm and nicely wrapped in napkin. Kids loved it. It came with herbed butter. I started with a glass of brut... but it showed up suspiciously looking like rose. It was okay. Caesar salad to start. Love the anchovies in the salad. Dressing was okay. Kids didn't like the salad and we went with fries. It was crispy and well balanced. I got the blackened salmon for main and got bolognese for kids to share. I like the herb crusted salmon with the texture and the flavor. Kids' pasta has a good bite and good flavor. They loved the bread with the texture. I got the toffee date pudding. It was delicious. But I didn't feel good after. Lactose intolerant is a real problem. My older daughter got the banana pudding sundae and she loved it. My younger daughter ordered opera cake. I'm a fan of the pastry chef, so I had to stop by here at some point. I came by for lunch since Maggie's pasta also sounded interesting, and it was spectacular. If I recall correctly, it was a linguine puttanesca, and it absolutely showcased each of the flavors. I loved it. I got the black & blue sundae for dessert and it was rich with flavors and textures. You can try any of the components separately or have them together, and it's delicious no matter what. read more

We came here on Christmas Day for dinner. Even though the staff were running ragged, they all took great care of us and made our holiday special. An elegant restaurant in the former home of Father José Manuel Gallegos (1815-75), with a lovely courtyard filled with scriptures and a fountain, and indoor sections. Santacafé in Santa Fe is a stylish, tucked-away spot near La Fonda that feels a bit more polished and quiet than many of the livelier places in town. The ambiance is chic, the service was warm and friendly, and they had a very nice wine and drink menu. That said, while the setting felt upscale, the food didn't quite live up to the price for us. Went here on a Saturday night. We were sitting outside. It was a beautiful evening. We had the dumplings and elk carpaccio for starters. The dumplings were great, but the carpaccio was too thin and turned into a glue-like substance. For the main course, we had a rack of lamb, beef bourguignon, fried red fish, and salmon. The lamb was overcooked, but they comped it. For dessert, we had the fruit ice cream. The service was good, but slow. They offered us champagne if we returned due to slow service. I totally get the mixed reviews - lots of hits and misses happening here. PROS - *Cue holy choirs* The Bakery Basket with the BEST RASPBERRY JAM Dip the vanilla scone and chocolate palmier in it - De-lightful! - Raspberry tart -- the basil!!! It was such a good mix, even the strawberries on the side had some light sauce on it that was divine. - The service overall was truly lovely. - Summer Rolls were standard and tasty. - Very cute atmosphere - likely a great date spot specially on a quieter day. CONS - Dirty glasses (just straight up lipstick marks ) - Reserved a table but were seated 30min after the reservation. (It was Mother's day and wildly busy but a reservation is a reservation for a reason.) - Salmon dishes were overtly average for the price point. - The pork dumplings were extremely dense and not very flavorful; I've never seen them quite so raw but some people are fine with that. SIDE NOTES: - Beautiful patio but go on a less busy day as when its full its too chaotic. - The earl grey cheesecake I expected the cheesecake to have a heavy taste of earl grey and its still a lovely cheesecake but I couldn't taste that at all which was a bummer but it was still good! read more

I've been to Santacafé twice now and the first time was phenomenal. The second time was great but not fantastic. We showed up at 6:20 for a 6:30 reservation and were told the table wasn't ready but we could wait at the bar. Took about 15 minutes for the bartender to get our drink order and the norteño I got was delicious. Our table still wasn't ready but we were finally seated after asking again at 6:50. My mom and I shared the mushroom soup appetizer and it was amazing with great depth of flavor. I ordered the maitake agnalotti for my entree and it was good but not great. It was a small dish for a main and there wasn't deep mushroom flavor like the soup had. My mom got the lobster salad which was super fresh and the dressing was delicious. My brother and his girlfriend both got the vietnamese lobster and loved it! My other brother got the miso cod which had the perfect texture and flavor. We finished dinner with the lemon cake which was tasty and they brought us a complementary chocolate torte (i assume because of the 20 minute wait for our table). A very well rounded, upscale dining experience that could be better with a few tweaks. read more

I have been to this restaurant several times and it never disappoints. The service is exceptional! However, it is the food that keeps me coming back for more! We were seated in the patio next to the beautiful holly hocks. I ordered the salad with salmon. The fresh greens with the light vinaigrette were a perfect portion for lunch. The menu offers both lighter fare and hearty food for the big appetite. Highly recommend reservations. The decor achieves a balance of feeling elegant without being fussy , cozy while still being light and uncluttered. The entire staff feels attentive and eager to please without being over bearing. The bar sets the tone with its warm onyx filtered light . My heart always races a little on the walk to the restrooms while peering into the void of the old well shaft safely underfoot, while stepping on thick slightly scratched plexiglass. So many delicious dishes , yet over time , the bolognese is the one I have ordered most often.
