The last time I dined in at a cheddars was 2014, and I never returned after I learned they removed the Shepherds Pie. Last Friday, I came in to eat with my girlfriend on our date night and was amazed at how much hadn't changed with the decor and interior, in a good way! It was exactly like I remembered it, fish tank and all, and I was very nostalgic from the get go. We wanted to get the app sampler but it didn't have the option to come with onion rings so we ordered the Spinach dip and the Onion Rings on their own. Both were fantastic choices! Very flavorful and great texture for both! We also ordered the Presidente Sangria and their most popular drink, the Painkiller. The presidente tasted more like strawberry lemonade with a slight alcohol aftertaste, so expect it to be very sweet. The painkiller was great for me, but I can see it being a very strong drink to a lot of people, it was for my girlfriend and she was fine with one or two sips max. For dinner she ordered the beer battered Fish and Shrimp platter and asked for Fries and coleslaw as her sides. She absolutely loved it, and the tartar sauce and cocktail sauces were absolutely delicious. She said it was the Best coleslaw she's ever had and wants it to be a permanent choice for her side when we come back. I ordered the New Orleans Pasta and was also very happy with my choice! Where Her food was bright, citrusy and full of texture, my dish was smoky, deep and rich as a good pasta dish should be. The sausages and shrimp were great and the chicken was a little on the dry side but I will say it made up for it in flavor. Everything totaled to just below $75, which is a great price point for us after getting two appetizers, two entrees and two cocktails. We took the leftovers home and enjoyed it even more the next day. Our server was great too, I didn't catch his name but he was attentive and always relayed any delays from the kitchen and kept us updated on anything if we were still waiting. I heard they had a dish called a spasagna which was kind of like a baked spaghetti with piles of cheese. Who could say no? So I had to go give it a try. Little did I know there would also be complimentary honey butter croissants. These were incredible! I'd go back just for them and perhaps forget about my meal at that point. That said the spasagna did hit the spot and was a pile of cheesy goodness. The service that day was a bit off, I don't know if they were understaffed or our server was new. It took a very long time to take our drink order and then another long time to get the drinks and take our food order. Not sure what the hype is about this place, but it certainly wasn't worth waiting 40 minutes for a table. I was disappointed by the menu selections that seemed more attractive in theory than in reality. Anyway, despite the long wait, we finally got seated and ordered the famous chocolate cake slide that my best friend swears is the best thing ever. Turns out, he wasn't kidding--the cake is incredibly creamy and rich, and the ice cream makes it the perfect combination of flavors dancing in your mouth. The fried apple pie is a must-try. The Santa Fe spinach dip was my favorite appetizer--it's definitely one of the best dips I've had in a while. Rich in creaminess and cheesiness. As for the entrees, options are limited. We chose the buffalo chicken wraps and the homestyle meatloaf, since they sounded appetizing. Let's just say, while the desserts are top-tier, the rest of the food felt like comforting home-cooked dishes--nothing special that couldn't easily be made at home or ordered elsewhere without the wait. Wife and I went to have a drink and couple of appetizers. We ordered the combo, (Chicken strips, Artichoke and spinach dip and queso with ground beef) We also ordered their buffalo shrimp. Order took quite some time to get delivered to us. They didn't give us the queso, gave us fried cheese curds. We told them and they got us a queso with ground beef. The bad: Chicken strips were dry AF. Cheese curds not Queso and Queso was just what comes out of a can. The artichoke dip was cold. The salsa that came with the chips was just canned tomatoes with some diced onion. The service was sub par, took long to get an order in, an order out and they never did come back to check on us. I had to flag the waiter down to get us another round. They tried to charge us for a side of queso even though it was their screw up. The Good: The shrimp and the restaurant appeared clean and had good music. The wife and I had a bad experience about two years ago but since it was only once, we thought we would go again. We got here late for a Friday evening, and a place is packed! Nonetheless, we were seated with friendly staff, and our drink and food orders taken right away. An excellent cocktail menu with a lot to choose from! The food menu has a lot of comfort type food and reading it all makes my stomach growl and anticipator hunger! The food did not take long to come out, and there was plenty of it! We shared the Monte Cristo and the chicken pot pie and let me tell you, both were extremely tasty and bountiful! Me and my sister decided to come to Cheddars because she was craving the Pot Pie and I was craving their Monte Cristo so it was the perfect spot for both. We arrived shortly after opening so we were seated immediately by a very nice gentleman who also brought us our drinks and then ended up being our waiter. I wish I would have caught his name because he was very friendly and attentive. While waiting for our food he brought us out some complimentary sweet croissants which were delightful. We also ordered the Queso with the ground beef which is always delicious. Our main dishes did take a little longer than usual but when my Monte Cristo arrived it was just as good as always. I have had a lot of Monte Cristo Sandwiches around town and Cheddars has the best one hands down. My sister also enjoyed her Pot Pie. She said it was very comforting, buttery and warm. He was a nice man and took the appetizer off our bill. About our appetizer even though it was free, they forgot the chips and didn't bring any type of dipping sauces but we didn't complain. We waited 35 minutes for a table. As soon as we got to the table, we ordered an appetizer and our food. We got the cheese curds, which was gross tbh. When we got our food, the steak was RAW! I ordered it cooked medium. The pasta was also stale, and the green beans were nasty. We called our server and showed her, she said it was the 3rd time it happened that day. She took the steak and said they would remake it. We called her over and told her to take it off. She then said "I wish you would've told me before I sent it back" in a very passive aggressive way. And she then claimed she wanted to give it to her dog. After that, we asked for boxes and the check. They didn't take it off, only gave a $10 and $3 discount. The steak was 14.99 and we showed her. Let me start off with saying our waiter and trainee were really good. I ordered the steak and chicken tenders with hot honey sauce and side broccoli cheddar casserole and corn. My partner got ribs with chicken tenders (same as me) with baked potato and cheesy fries. This was probably one of the worst meals I ever had. My steak didn't look "real" no grain to the meat what so ever and looked like the synco meat (meat glue to make it look like steak). The broccoli casserole was real dry and not cheesy at all. Corn is corn so that was good. Also the spinach dip love that so please don't ever change what's going on with that. The place itself is real nice like the dark vibes and the presentation. This was my first visit to this establishment on April 8, 2025. A friend and I met there for lunch. It was busy and crowded at lunchtime, but we were seated right away. There is ample parking. There is very nice ambient light. The decor is relaxed. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The menu is long enough to have many good choices. First time at Cheddar's and the server (I believe Nadia) made it great! Got the spinach dip as an appetizer and it was amazing. Ordered ribs and shrimp with a side of broccoli and a baked potato. My partner ordered the country fried chicken with gravy with sides of mashed potatoes and a broccoli and cheese casserole. We were impressed and able to take food to go because it was so filling. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and had a good crunch. The baked potato could've been better but that's my only complaint. Came for a late lunch around 2:30pm on a Mon and was so glad we did as it was not busy at all. Our meal started with the warm croissants and melted butter on top. At first I thought it was going to be sweet but if anything it was a light honey butter. In any case, it was good but not piping hot out of the oven (probably just kept warm). Ordered the 6 oz steak with mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and the broccoli casserole as recommended by my friend. All was tasty but not spectacular. Portions were smaller than expected but that was perfect cause it was just the right amount of food. Also ordered the "watermelonvodkarita". Huge drink and thought what the heck did I order but it was not strong at all so don't feel intimidated to order it. Service and value is where this place shines! Dear Jermaine, I'm writing to express my disappointment with the customer service I received at Cheddar's regarding a coupon for a free appetizer. Before coming in, I called the restaurant and explained that I had the coupon. I was told to go ahead and pay for the appetizer and that I would be reimbursed when I arrived. Based on that assurance, I did exactly that. However, when I got there, I was told, "Sorry, we can't do that--you can use the coupon on your next visit." That is not what I was told on the phone, and it put me in a very frustrating position. Being given one set of instructions and then having them reversed at the restaurant feels misleading and unprofessional. From my perspective, this came across as a bait-and-switch, and it left a very bad impression. I'm asking that this be made right--either by reimbursing me for the appetizer as promised or honoring the coupon as it should have been in the first place. More importantly, I hope this can be addressed so other customers don't have the same experience. I've always expected better from Cheddar's, which is why this was especially disappointing. Our waitress Danielle was so patient and catered to my 11 month old grandson nicely. The complimentary glazed croissants were so good. We started with the queso which came with salsa too. The chips were thin and crispy and the queso was good. The salsa was tasty and not too hot (my daughter appreciated that). She got the salmon and loved it. I got the fish and chips. The fries came out cold so she brought me some more. The fish was nicely breaded and flaky. We got the strawberry lemonade which was refreshing. Pieces of strawberry made it more delicious. My work partner and I went to Cheddar's last night. It was near our hotel and open. That's the only good thing I can say. We sat at a high top in the bar area to avoid a wait. Service was horrendous. I could see staff trying to hide and just chit chatting. We were near the side door so we could see staff go out to smoke and vape. Our salads came after entree. Our food- horrible. My steamed broccoli was old and not even fully heated. Even trying to pay. We had to wait as our waitress disappeared. The manager and most of the night crew should be fired. I was in town visiting my brother & we went out to have a bite to eat. I usually don't try chain restaurants in Albuquerque due to all the great local choices but my brother likes Cheddars & it was open. We were sat next to the bar, which was a little dark for me, but fine. Service was good & the server was very friendly. We ordered the croissant & onion rings as an appetizer & they were awesome! I could actually taste the sweet onion rather than just the breading. The croissant was flaky on the outside & tender on the inside. So delicate & the slight sweetness of the honey butter... yumz. For the dinner selections my brother ordered their chicken strips meal & they were another great hit. Tender & juicy with just the perfect amount of breading/batter. I had the meatloaf dinner & was very happy with my choice as well. You won't believe how many times restaurants get the meatloaf so wrong but not Cheddars. I would order it again for sure. In the end our tummies were satisfied & our tastebuds very happy. I guess I'll have to make Cheddars one of my "must stop" when I'm in ABQ again. read more

It had been a while since I visited Cheddar's. I thought about going somewhere else to eat because my last visit there the food was lackluster. I sat at the bar for lunch. My waitress was very attentive and cordial. Ordered Lemon pepper grilled cooked, red beans and rice, green beans, water. Knowing that I had completed a great workout week I ordered 1 strawberry swirl frozen margarita. Absolutely delicious!!!! Since there was only 1 of me dining I got my food pretty quickly. Food was much better this visit. Love the complimentary croissant (no honey butter). My grilled lemon pepper chicken was moist and flavorful. The shrimp were great. Perfectly coated and fried - they were not overdone. The shrimp sauce was a great compliment as it was flavorful and delicious. The sides were what you would expect - nothing fancy or disappointing here. The burger was too chewy. The baked potato was hard and undercooked and tasteless. The croissant was not light and flaky but dense and heavy and too chewy. Overall everything was disappointing. While traveling back to Albuquerque from Santa Fe shopping we decided to give this place a try. I have eaten at several cheddars in Texas and it has always been consistent to say the least . It was a little busy around 4 pm, we waited to be seated for about 10 minutes. Once we were seated I overheard the waiter telling a table next to us several items they were out of. French fries, as well as several other items. When the same waiter came to our table, I asked exactly what items they did not have so we would not be disappointed when we placed our orders. Three of us ordered sweet iced tea and I ordered draft beer. I was told they were also out of draft beer. My wife ordered the steak bites over mashed potatoes which was supposed to be prepared, medium rare. The steak was like jerky, well done and not seasoned. My cousins and I ordered the fried fish dinners. The breading was not seasoned at all and just slid off the fish. The shrimp appeared to be undercooked with similar breading. The fish obviously was wet before the batter was applied. The sweet tea had an off taste and was not sweet according to my wife and cousins. The only bright spot of the meal was our waiter, I apologize for not remembering his name. He was upbeat, courteous, and continuously apologizing for food items they were out of. No we did not send anything back, you get one shot with me. Ether I tolerate the food or request a refund and leave. Needless to say I will not be returning to this Cheddar's location. read more

The server came out, super sweet, said our order was ready but they were waiting on fresh croissants and it would be about five minutes. We did not order any croissants but ok, five minutes. Twenty minutes later they come out to inform us a food bandit stole our whole order, and they are recooking our order. WTF?! But ok... thirty minutes later, over an hour after the initial order was supposed to be ready we received our food. Chicken and shrimp, a bit more than room temp, gross fries and a flat DrPepper. ALSO THE CROISSANTS AREN'T SHIT. The only reason I give two stars is the server was apologetic. No offer of a discount, no extra shrimp.
