Patio
Destiny L.

Ok so I was really hesitant to give this spot another try after getting food poisoning the first time I came when they first opened. They have a really cute patio and all, but again after the first and only time I'd visited going so poorly, they just haven't been on my try again list. Anyways for my recent visit, I was enjoying the beautiful weather with friends and we really wanted to enjoy some drinks on a patio. A friend suggested Damacios and I was hesitant but it was just drinks.. so why not? We walked over and got in line, apparently they were doing some special event or something requiring reservations in the back patio area but did have open seating in the front patio area. Anyways so we are in line when it's our turn the guy asks us if we have a reservation, we don't and say if possible we just want to get drinks on the front patio. He offers a table inside and we clearly state no, we literally only are interested in outside seating and if not it's cool we will go somewhere else. He's says he's going to go check and confirm there's a server that can take us. Never comes back. We are just kinda waiting for ten, fifteen, twenty minutes. Honestly at that point we should have just left but eventually another woman comes out and says very uncertainly that it might be a 15+ minute wait for a table. This was when we decided to leave and not play some weird waiting game. Don't waste people's time, just say no if the answers no. We ended up at a brewery and it was a much better vibe.

From the vibe I think Damacios is more a bar than a restaurant and I can't say what they're like as a bar. But for brunch I was disappointed. The fellow at the host stand was taking quite a while to seat people and was noticably more friendly to the partiea ahead of me and the one behind me than he was to me - not a fan of solo diners? The outdoor patio was perfectly pleasant and my server was very friendly but when my food arrived it was lukewarm and the bacon the menu said my dish came with was nowhere to be seen. The cocktail I ordered hadn't arrived yet when I was 3/4 done with my food so I just asked to cancel it. Again, very friendly and apologetic server, but he definitely seemed overtaxed. I might have just caught them at a bad time but there's too many other places in town where I have had a better brunch for me to feel like coming back.

Damacios is a very interesting experience. The food is good, I really didn't like the menu but my boyfriend has always wanted to try beef wellington and they had it as their steak special. The steak Wellington was pretty good, I also got the bruschetta and the stuffed mushrooms and they were good, not anything special. The music... many have said it, they play loud shitty techno music which really kills the vibe for me personally. I know they are attempting an upbeat party vibe but the ambiance of the place doesn't match that. Just kinda odd. I will go and try their brunch forsure but I think for a birthday dinner it was a little meh.

The food and drinks were fantastic. We were a little apprehensive at first because we were the only ones there. But everything was very tasty and fresh. Some how our waitress got fired in the middle of serving us.

Such a cute atmosphere. It's one of the perfect places for girly brunch! I just think they should have more menu items and more caffeine options. The food is good but not to the point of amazing. The service is okay as well.

How pretty is this place!!! I loved the outdoor patio and sitting outside on summer evenings, but the wind picked up and we had to move inside. Only, to discover how pretty the dining area is. We had a server who was attentive, positive, and cheerful. The cocktails were delicious and the fried stuffed mushrooms were mouth-watering. The only con was that my husband was disappointed on the small portion of his chicken pasta. I think it was probably only 1cup, if I had to measure. Other than that we enjoyed the food, drinks, and atmosphere. We will be back!

As usual had another great experience at Damacios. I love how I can text a reservation and they accommodate my large parties. Usually go for brunch but finally went to happy hour. Got one of my fav dishes beef carpaccio. It was so good. Highly recommend.

This was my first time here since they bought put Capos. The baked brie was so good. The bloody Mary's were spicy and delicious. We tried Kevin Hart's tequila which was surprisingly smooth. The Mahi Mahi with asparagus was cooked well and the sauce had a wee kick to it. Sydney was our server and she was great. Chris and Alicia were super cool too. They kept a lot of the charm from the old place. All in all I loved it.

It always looks like there's going to be a wait, but there never is. You go to the counter, place your order, find a table, and they bring the food right out to you. This place puts a unique and delicious twist on classic breakfast dishes, and everything we tried was outstanding. You can immediately tell they know exactly what they're doing. They even make their own English muffins, and they are to die for -- fresh, flavorful, and perfectly made. We loved them so much we even bought a bag to take home. I also had a blood orange Jr. mimosa, which was off-the-charts delicious. Everything here is fresh, fresh, and more fresh. The bacon deserves a special mention -- phenomenal, cooked to perfection with amazing flavor. Whether you're craving something sweet or leaning toward the savory side, you're completely covered. If you're on the fence about coming here, don't be -- you will not be disappointed. Before leaving, we stopped to share our experience with the manager. I was really happy to see that the menu clearly marked the gluten-free options. Unfortunately, the girl taking our order said they were, so I switched to the huevos rancheros. She wrote on the ticket that it was a gluten allergy so they would take extra precautions and prepare everything separately, which I really appreciated. My husband ordered the duck hash and said it was absolutely delicious! My son and his girlfriend got a burger and a Cubano sandwich, and they said both were amazing, they especially loved the French fries! My daughter ordered the Americano with a gluten-free waffle and loved it. My huevos rancheros were just okay, I wasn't too impressed. Definitely something I would not get again. The area looks old and poor, but near the restaurant, we didn't see anything sketchy. When we were leaving, we did see some homeless people at the main intersection, but we didn't see anything we'd describe as sketchy. We did notice there is a mobile home park behind the restaurant, but there is a wall between the mobile home park and the restaurant parking lot. Even if there were police surrounding the mobile home park, we'd still venture inside to eat. The food is that good. We shared the cowboy breakfast burrito and the Santa Fe pancakes. Both were filling and ridiculously good. The Santa Fe pancakes made with blue corn, roasted piñons, green chili, and cheddar jack cheese were different than anything else we've ever had. I'll admit I didn't love my first bite or two, but the more I ate, the more I wanted. The pancakes are dry, but if you drizzle some syrup, it's the perfect match. The accompanying eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. The cowboy breakfast burrito is massive, filling, and worth every calorie. Even though we were stuffed, we had to get the peach with green chile turnover. We asked if the turnover is served warm and our waitress replied that she could warm it up for is. I'm not sure that it is normally served warm, but I highly recommend it. The turnover flaky, the glaze was silky once warmed up and the peach with green chile was unique and delicious. Five star service and food. I highly recommend Vick's Vittles and hope that I'm in the area again so I can try more of this delicious food.

And plenty of ways to customize your order to taste and for the size of your appetite. The main drawback, as others have noted, is that the location where they've been for decades has grown steadily bleaker, with a sketchy feel even during broad daylight. I say this as someone who lives in a rural setting but who has lived in some of the biggest cities in the world and as a person who's not easily scared off by "rough" neighborhoods. It's perfectly safe, but you want your wits about you as you come and go. Service is fantastically efficient, friendly, and thorough. Really good food, based on my single experience -- I had a pancake, an egg, and sausage along with coffee, and I ordered the "Santa Fe" style pancake. It's made with blue corn meal in the flour, along with piñon nuts and a little cheese, and it's a very satisfying meal in itself. I left full and ready to go back if I find myself in that part of Albuquerque again with an empty stomach.

There were many picnic tables to eat outside and it was a small building, so most people were eating outside. The Inside When I first walked in it felt nice, people were talking Luckily not too loud. Then I looked around for where I placed our order and I easily found it. *It was right in front* Ordering So then I ordered the item "Just buttermilk and cream", and then I asked for a side of syrup and bacon. And I got an orange juice for my drink. Then I walked down to the patio, it had lots of greenery. Which was nice because the patio wasn't so exposed, and it had some sort of glass which blocked out the sun which also was very nice. And they gave me my orange juice right when I ordered it which was different in a good way. The Drink So I found a table where I sat down and sipped my drink ,unfortunately the drink was a bit cooler than room temperature. But I wanted it to be colder than it was, however the plastic that they used was hard and secure which felt nice in my hands. And at the near end of my experience it was getting pulp in it which was not pleasant. The Service My food came out in about 4 - 8 minutes. The food And when it did come out it looked really good. It was a big belgium waffle which had tons of whipped cream and strawberry slices, and the bacon looked nice. My first bite was of the bacon, unfortunately it was a lot more chewy then I liked my bacon. And then I grabbed my fork and cut a piece of my waffle, dipped it in some syrup, and then I took a bite. It was AMAZING, it was sweet but not too sweet. The syrup with the softness of the waffle was so good, and the waffle was easy to cut. The VALUE So what I got with the item was a big belgian waffle, lots of whipped cream, and over 15 strawberry slices for $10. I would say it's worth it. And I am pretty sure that I've seen smaller waffles items for the same price at other restaurants. Conclusion Overall, It was a Really good experience. Good value, Great food, Great service, and an okay drink. I would go back to Waffletopia. My only Suggestions are :If you come expect a big portion and don't get the orange juice Which leads to my star ranking. 4.5 Stars

The blue corn is just a tinge sweet so was an interesting mix. The waffle is a decent size but is super filling and dense. I'll have to try some sweet waffles or some different waffle bases next time! That said there are lots of gluten free options as well, so if that's for you, then don't hesitate to come check it out you won't be disappointed. There is indoor and outdoor seating, though in general the place is small-ish and can get crowded during busy times. Parking is also a bit of an adventure, but so is anywhere in that area. The staff is super friendly as well. All in all a great experience and I will be back. I can't believe it took me so long to get here in the first place!
