Ok so I was really hesitant to give this spot another try after getting food poisoning the first time I came when they first opened. They have a really cute patio and all, but again after the first and only time I'd visited going so poorly, they just haven't been on my try again list. Anyways for my recent visit, I was enjoying the beautiful weather with friends and we really wanted to enjoy some drinks on a patio. A friend suggested Damacios and I was hesitant but it was just drinks.. so why not? We walked over and got in line, apparently they were doing some special event or something requiring reservations in the back patio area but did have open seating in the front patio area. Anyways so we are in line when it's our turn the guy asks us if we have a reservation, we don't and say if possible we just want to get drinks on the front patio. He offers a table inside and we clearly state no, we literally only are interested in outside seating and if not it's cool we will go somewhere else. He's says he's going to go check and confirm there's a server that can take us. Never comes back. We are just kinda waiting for ten, fifteen, twenty minutes. Honestly at that point we should have just left but eventually another woman comes out and says very uncertainly that it might be a 15+ minute wait for a table. This was when we decided to leave and not play some weird waiting game. Don't waste people's time, just say no if the answers no. We ended up at a brewery and it was a much better vibe. read more

From the vibe I think Damacios is more a bar than a restaurant and I can't say what they're like as a bar. But for brunch I was disappointed. The fellow at the host stand was taking quite a while to seat people and was noticably more friendly to the partiea ahead of me and the one behind me than he was to me - not a fan of solo diners? The outdoor patio was perfectly pleasant and my server was very friendly but when my food arrived it was lukewarm and the bacon the menu said my dish came with was nowhere to be seen. The cocktail I ordered hadn't arrived yet when I was 3/4 done with my food so I just asked to cancel it. Again, very friendly and apologetic server, but he definitely seemed overtaxed. Damacios is a very interesting experience. The food is good, I really didn't like the menu but my boyfriend has always wanted to try beef wellington and they had it as their steak special. The steak Wellington was pretty good, I also got the bruschetta and the stuffed mushrooms and they were good, not anything special. The music... many have said it, they play loud shitty techno music which really kills the vibe for me personally. I know they are attempting an upbeat party vibe but the ambiance of the place doesn't match that. Just kinda odd. An unforgettable experience... for all the wrong reasons. We went to this restaurant to celebrate Mother's Day a day filled with love, meaning, and the intention to honor the most important woman in our lives. What we got instead was a complete disaster. We arrived early, full of excitement to treat my mom to a beautiful breakfast. We were among the first to be seated. One by one, every table around us was served. Plates of food, hot coffee, warm smiles everywhere but our table. Not a single plate, not even an apology, not a word. My mom sat there, hungry, heart slowly breaking... on HER day. We asked for sugar for the coffee. Guess what? That never arrived either. Who forgets the sugar on Mother's Day? Who? Minutes passed. Then an hour. People laughed, ate, clinked glasses, while we sat there invisible. Her breakfast never came. We finally stood up, completely disheartened, and told them how terrible the service was. Not even a sincere apology. We walked out no food, no kindness, no respect. This place ruined what was supposed to be a beautiful moment with my mom. And yes, it was unforgettable... but for all the worst reasons. Never again And if you value your family, your time, and your dignity run. Run far from this place. read more

We sat on the patio and there was club music playing so loud it was impossible to have a conversation (and this wasn't even late at night.) The service was painfully slow; we waited an hour and a half for basic tacos, and they weren't even busy. When the food finally came, it was just average.. truly nothing special at all. How pretty is this place!!! I loved the outdoor patio and sitting outside on summer evenings, but the wind picked up and we had to move inside. Only, to discover how pretty the dining area is. We had a server who was attentive, positive, and cheerful. The cocktails were delicious and the fried stuffed mushrooms were mouth-watering. Went to Damacios on a Thursday evening after work for happy hour. From what I recall, their happy hour used to be so much better - more food selections and better pricing on drinks. We ordered the cheese board and spicy fried pickles from the happy hour menu. My friend ordered a High Noon seltzer and I ordered a mule. The cheese board was decent for $10. The spicy fried pickles were good, but here was so much batter that you could barely taste the pickle. My mule was a little too sweet, but good and the presentation was very nice, but when the bill arrived I saw that I was charged the $11 price but and extra $6 was added. When I ordered the mule I was offered three types of tequila to choose from so I chose patron. I was not aware they would tack on an extra $6 for that. In the past I've always ordered the mule and have never been asked what type of tequila I wanted, so that was disappointed. We order the baked brie from the regular menu and it was totally different from what I had ordered in the past. According to the menu the baked brie I ordered was supposed to be topped with honey and walnuts and served with apple slices and baguettes. When the brie arrived it looked like a piece of pie and there were no apples or baguettes. We asked the waitress and she said they had changed the recipe and it was not baked in philo dough. I wish she would have told us that before we ordered it......very deceptive. Another friend ordered the green chile and pepperoni flatbread which she said tasted like a frozen pizza. Our experience was not what it has been in the past so unfortunately this will not be a stopping place for us anymore. Such a shame because we love the patio. read more

This was my first time here since they bought put Capos. The baked brie was so good. The bloody Mary's were spicy and delicious. We tried Kevin Hart's tequila which was surprisingly smooth. The Mahi Mahi with asparagus was cooked well and the sauce had a wee kick to it. Sydney was our server and she was great. Chris and Alicia were super cool too. I ordered the avocado toast and friends and I shared the pitcher of mimosas. The avocado toast was delicious and a good amount of food. The other items on the brunch menu were pretty small portions and that wasn't clear from the menu. The other thing that wasn't clear was that their regular menu was not available during lunch time. Damacios is a great place to dine and relax. We go for breakfast/brunch after the downtown growers market at Robinson park. They have several patios, and we always ask for the patio on the north, right across central from growers market so we can people watch. All of the tables have shade, and there's a cooling fountain in the center. Every time we've been there (a few times now) , the service is very good. Hayden was an excellent server who kept us happy with beverages. Another park which I really appreciate is they bring you a large bottle of water for the table initial full water glasses are provided. The food is delicious and very fresh. We've had avocado toast (comes with egg, bacon and chipotle aioli), caprese avo toast, and classic 2 egg, meat, toast breakfast, and everything was very tasty and fresh. They also offer many other options such as pancakes, etc. Many people here seem to get champagne buckets for mimosas, but we haven't yet tried that. They do offer several signature cocktails and a full bar. We park in their lot, go to growers market across central, and finish with a delicious, relaxing brunch. Our go-to on Saturdays! read more

We sat outside on the patio (ground level) for brunch one Saturday. Service was friendly, maybe not as attentive as it could have been but it was a farmers market day and it looked fairly busy (didn't notice what the inside seating looked like but our server seemed to vanish a lot so I figured she had tables inside too). When I asked how many servings were in a bucket of mimosas, I was told about six. While technically correct, explaining that it's a bottle of bubbly and two little bottles of juice probably would have answered the question more clearly. We got orange and mango juices. Since you're making your own mimosas at the table, it's on you if you mix it wrong. I think more juice would have been useful but strong mimosas are fun. The food was disappointing. The brunch menu sounds like individual dishes, but some of them are kind of tapas-style, but the portions don't really lend themselves to sharing, so it's all just weird. I ordered the loaded potatoes and regretted it - the dish was dry, the green chile "sauce" looked like chopped chile, and the plate was the temperature of the sun, probably due to aggressive use of a lamp to melt/toast/dehydrate the cheese on top. It also wasn't really enough food for a meal, so I ended up splitting the huevos rancheros "cupcakes" with a friend. Those were better, though I'm glad we got the red chile on the side - it tasted like tomatoes were involved and was not great. There is no allergen labeling on the brunch menu, I was told the chile sauces were both gluten-free but would suggest doing more investigating if an exposure would be dangerous for you. I also suspect the fryer was shared. I did go inside briefly to use the restroom, and it was the darkest bathroom I've ever seen. I would hate to have to use it at night when people are drunk. read more

This was my third time here and I wasn't as impressed as I was on my first two times. We had dinner in the main front interior dining area and it was extremely dark. We were unable to read the menus, see our food, or enjoy our company during dinner. We asked if the can turn some lights on but they mentioned the lights were very small and most burned out. We had to ask them to light our table candle and we had to use two cell phone flashlight functions as light for our table. It was odd and I didn't enjoy my dining experience. My mom made reservations here for my birthday at 12:30. We arrived around 12:15 for the Mean Girls brunch. It was one of the worst restaurant experiences ever. Firstly, there was a man who refused to check us in unless we stepped 10 inches to our right, by the dusty velvet ropes. I guess he was trying to pretend it was a nightclub atmosphere, even though there was no one in line at the time. We went inside and everything was dirty. The only "Mean Girls" part of this event was the little pink fringed decorations on the ceiling purchased from Dollar General and some cheap stickers. The man who checked us in said the people at our table were still there so they were going to find another seating arrangement. They gave us a small booth for our party of 5, and made one of our family members sit on a chair at the edge of the table while everyone kept brushing up against him. They also only give you two hours from your reservation start time to stay for your brunch. The server we had, we didn't even hear complete sentences. We had to guess what she was asking. And then it took 30 minutes just to get some warm plastic liquid pouches they called Adult Capri Suns. I've had Adult Capri Suns before at another restaurant, and these were not good for the price, it was warm in the pouch and tasted like powder pink lemonade and like a shot of something. We were about 45 minutes into our reservation without a food ticket even being submitted to the kitchen. The most mind boggling part was: there was a man with a white lap top in his hands, walking around like he was doing important "business" or doing "computer stuff" that never materialized into any type of assistance. People were wondering if the man with the white lap top was just pretending to type on this laptop--maybe to act important? We waited for our server to come back to our table so we can pay for the drinks and leave. We try our best to give Albuquerque restaurants some leeway on service. We know it's a little city and some mom-and-pop businesses are trying their best to stay afloat and they have good hearts and it's noticeable when they try their best. Not today, not at Damacios. Today was so horrible in all aspects of customer/food service (wait time, attitude, service, cleanliness) it made us think the owners have no background in the food service industry. A friend told me about her experience here and how slow the service was for their big group. I was hesitant as we also had a big group (10), but figured to give it a try just for some Bloody Mary's after the farmers market mainly for the patio vibes. We were crammed in the patio in the worst spot next to the corner of the fountain/entrance. The fountain pump was so loud and sounded like it wasn't getting enough water. It took 10 minutes to get water and 30 minutes to get a drink order in. All in all it took 2 hours and was the most basic overpriced Bloody Mary I've ever had. Lets cover the good first, The back patio was quite nice looking somehow had never seen it when it was Capos, and had only eaten indoors.. although id love to eat up on the balcony sometime. get a closer look at some of the fun art-deco architecture. Loved the touches with the fake greenery walls. and the waterfall. and most importantly the swamp coolers over the cabana style seating areas. The food was also good. it being a tapas place i was not expecting big portions like a previous reviewer, but it was late Sunday and they were on the brunch menu, so i was unsure if it was going to be overpriced tapas, or more meal like servings.. so we ordered both Avocado Toasts they offered, and a 3rd item the loaded potato dish. all three were well constructed and super tasty. and all entree sized, We did also opt to share the only desert they still had, which was a caramel drizzled cheesecake, which was delicious. It was late in the afternoon on a Sunday and the front patio was fairly full everywhere with shade but the back patio only had us and another table. But This Is where the bad starts, both the front patio and back had a ton of speakers bumping out Super Loud Club Dance music at a volume well above the ability to hold a non shouting conversation. We tried to mitigate the discomfort, by picking a table way off near the server entrance/exit and it was indeed a little bit quieter but still had to shout our orders, and could not really have a conversation with my companion. After a while we were the only ones on the back patio, and i asked the server if they could turn it down a bit. She looked a bit sheepish and said she would check.. it went from a deafening 11 down to about a 10 after a few minutes. (so Kudos to her for trying) but was still uncomfortably loud. And while i don't mind songs about butts, and thongs, and having sex on the dance floor.. Its not something i would want to blaring out at such a volume. Especially if i were to try to brunch with a family member or someone I actually would like to talk to. So yeah.. 4 star food, 4 star looks and visual ambiance. (i did get a look in the dining room and that looked good too but was closed). but negative several stars due to the volume of the booty shaking "music". read more

I ordered the breakfast tacos and all you get were three flat small tacos and I was hungry still afterwards. Me and my girlfriend decided to split the huevos rancheros cupcakes which again was small but it gets served with potatoes and two eggs which finally filled me up. My family went here for Sunday brunch around Christmastime. The drinks were excellent but it was a full hour before the wait staff took our food order. They were very overworked! There was a DJ who played the music so loud we couldn't hear ourselves or the waiters, and it felt more like a rave than a Sunday brunch.
