We tried Cheddars for the first time today. It was fun to see the "home cookin" approach, quite honestly. Sometime my husband and I want less frill and fancy and just crave a good home cooked meal. He chose the chicken pot pie: he said good flavor , great crust, but filling too watery. I chose the salmon entree, blackened. I had green beans and broccoli. It was very good all the west around. I'm kind of picky about how it's cooked. This was a little under done - but I'll know what to ask for next time. Inside was dark/warm. Clean. Service was friendly. Left for under $50. It's been a while since we have been to Cheddars. The last time the menu was smaller and they took off a few of our favorites. The menu is updated and has all the favorites back! The service was good. We had a little wait to be seated due to not enough servers. Mitch was good. He checked in on us often and he was friendly. We started with the croissants and some spinach dip. Both were hot and great. Then I had the meatloaf and my hubby had the chicken tenders. I was really happy that all food was served hot. The meatloaf was very flavorful and the chicken tenders were lightly battered and fried just right. We get the buffalo sauce on the side because we don't like them drenched. The decor was typical Cheddars. It was clean and classic. The music was a little loud. And then as more people came in the ambient noise was a bit loud. First timer, I rarely leave reviews but this restaurant is in an area where there are pretty nice restaurants so I came with an expectation and I was disappointed since I walked in, it looks dingy specially the glass surrounding the eating area so dirty, I sat a the booth the wall and booth super dirty and there was a pile of mixed sugars just sitting on the table. I went to Cheddars the other day for lunch. First time. It was really good with quite the menu. The croissants were fresh the burger was great and the beer was cold. Not only that, but I had a wonderful server named Cara. She was sweet and kind and very attentive. I had special requests because of my diet and she was right on point with everything. Dessert was offered but I was full...I told her I'd take a rain check. Cara checked on me regularly and thats really what did it for me. Service, in general, has gone down hill. Food is marginal; mostly fried or microwaved, lacks anything special. Nursing home food, maybe a step up certain items. It's the vibe that's off-putting. Not only does the staff wanting to be elsewhere, but the crowd is that of silence or worse kids screaming. Again the nursing home thing (Cheddars demographics per the Darden website). I really expected the worst but we really enjoyed our time as well as our server Esther. We shared the full slab, which was outstanding, along with the baked and mashed potatoes for our 2 sides. Our server seemed dry and serious at the beginning, but she checked on us at least 5 times, and we even shared some laughs before we left. Thank you for that. Was my first time there and I went with 11 friends. They don't take reservations. They do have a way for you to put in a wait request when they're super busy. Fortunately we came on a Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. so even though our group was sort of large it only took a few minutes for them to get a seating. I do have to compliment The Hostess because she actually showed me the seating chart and told me that she would see this at a table and a booth together. That worked out fine for a group. We got a wonderful server named Brittany. She was accommodating quick and had a great sense of humor and a wonderful smile. In this day and age customer service rates a lot almost as much as the quality and taste of the food. A group ordered a number of cocktails beverages of other types and our server brought water in those items first before taking our orders. I did let her know we would mostly need separate checks and she said that was not a problem. I always like getting that out of the way in the beginning so there's no confusion when it comes time to pay the bill. As for the food everyone was happy with their meals for the most part. A friend of mine and I both ordered something from the menu and what we got was not quite what we thought we ordered but we accepted it made it anyway to make things easy. Pricing is okay the sides by the way were pretty extensive. I opted for the red beans and rice sort of Cajun style and I have to say the beans are definitely made from scratch. The coleslaw was very good as well. One lady got green beans and they were definitely overcooked. Overall, we had a really wonderful time we didn't feel rushed. I've never been to a Cheddar's before and I'd describe it as a cross between Cracker Barrel and Chili's. My waiter brought a frosted croissant as soon as I sat down and I ordered the Trio Sampler to start but it wasn't very good. The chicken tenders were the best part and everything else was disappointing. The spinach dip came in this large dish but it had no taste. The dollop of sour cream (?) in the middle didn't even have any taste. The queso was really watery and all the fillings sank to the bottom of the cup - onions, tomato, peppers, etc. I didn't even know they were in there until half the queso was gone. The watery salsa looked and tasted like it came straight out of a can. Some of the chips were dry and tasted a bit stale and some were saturated with grease. The New Orleans Pasta was my main dish. It tasted ok but the preparation was weird. There were about half a dozen cooked shrimp but some had their tails and others didn't. The chicken pieces were really tough and some were much larger than others. I think there were only three pieces of sausage in the bowl. There were a few burnt pepper and onion chunks floating around. The pale orangish-pink sauce was so watery that it was practically a soup. The slice of garlic toast was the best part, sadly. I looked at a picture of this dish on the website and it looked nothing like what I was served. It was supposed to come with a sprinkle of parsley and grated parmesan cheese but they didn't include the cheese. I paid using the tablet on the table and the total was about $35 including a tip. Is everything really better with cheddar? Well, that's to be debated. But, everything is EXCELLENT at Cheddar's. Made 30th birthday plans for this spot and it didn't disappoint. Let's start with the overall feel and decor. They are spot on! So warm and inviting from the outside to the inside. The color palate and textures are phenom. The hosting staff was pleasant and super efficient at working through the dinner rush crowd. Great start! Our waitresses were also super attentive and friendly. We mentioned it was a birthday dinner and the meal was completed with a handwritten card and two warm chocolate chip cookies. How sweet was that? Pun totally intended. Because it was our first ever visit, we received two complimentary Honey Butter Croissants. Light, fluffy, airy and mildly sweet. Very tasty. We split a Cheese Curd appetizer. WOW! So very crispy. And the homemade ranch? SCRUMMY. Our meal was a New York strip (cooked to a perfect medium rare) with 4 grilled shrimp as well as four sides (sweet carrots, broccoli casserole, steamed broccoli and southern style green beans.) This was our first time here. We arrived at noon and it was pretty busy, but we got seated within 5 min. We ordered the chips and queso appetizer. It was good and what we expected. It was served with salsa, which was nice break from the rich queso, but the salsa was a tiny bit sweet for our tastes. Still, very good. My husband got the chicken tenders with two sides. It came out with a very crispy crust and very tender and juicy interior. Husband approved. I got the chicken fried steak. I don't eat fried foods often, but when I do eat it, I want it to be crispy and crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. My steak was fried to PERFECTION! It completely satisfied my fried food craving. This might be my new go to for when I crave something fried. The service was efficient and the restaurant was large, but still had a cozy feel. Everything felt clean as well. The reason I gave it four stars was because the salsa was a little sweet and the green beans weren't very flavorful. I've never had a bad meal here. That says a lot about the place! I had the lemon pepper chicken which is only 520 calories and comes with 2 grilled breasts and 2 sides. I always save the second breast for the next day and I leave very satisfied and not heavy. They have a good variety on the menu and the atmosphere is ok and not too loud. We usually eat in the bar area so we can see whatever sport is on. I recommend trying it! read more

I waited over 30 minutes for a Chicken Pot Pie by the time it came to me I had to go to work. Even though the Server was nice he did not even offer to do something about the long wait. Dirty restaurant. Ripped booths. Ripped carpets. Dirty bathroom. Restaurant is not taking care of. Needs TLC! Needs inspection! Plates ordered: country fried chicken, baked potato and Cole slaw; salad and shrimp. Potato, slaw, salad and shrimp weren't bad. Chicken was on the dark side (old oil maybe) but those that ate the chicken were sick. Now Let's talk about the young hostess. The skinny, curly haired very long nails young lady. She really needs to be put in the back. She has no customer service skills at all. We watched her try to seat a family with a mom in a wheelchair at a booth in a very busy area. There was no compassion or care for the lady in the wheelchair. The family was trying to figure out how to put the wheelchair in so it wouldn't get in the way of the table across from them with a high chair and not block the walkway. The hostess dropped off menus and rolled napkin silverware and said "well this is your seat" an walked away as the lady in the wheelchair was embarrassed and cried. They ended up leaving the restaurant. It was a sad situation and could have been easily fixed by the hostess. Do better Cheddars! read more

When visiting New Mexico. My family was excited to take us to Cheddars. At first I was skeptical to have a pause in my Mexican Food Eat Fiesta but Cheddars impressed. I cannot believe food this fresh, with such large plates, is so affordable. I got the steak and veggie plate (for only $12), my hubby the seasoned salmon. My steak was massive, cooked perfectly medium, with the most delicious seasoning. The flavor boldness was lick the plate delightful. The veggies were smothered in a butter sauce, so I ended up trading them for hubby's rice. The salmon was a thick, juicy chunk, with bursting juices of flavor. We also tried the honey butter biscuits-very much worth the calories. We had the friendliest waiter, very attentive. And we had the most beautiful table, with the plant decor, hanging lights, and light music creating a delightful ambiance for the evening out. I've eaten a few times at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen. Each time the food has been plenty tasty plus being strong in the comfort food direction, portions hugemungously large, prices reasonably cheap (especially considering the size of the portions), and staff really good about periodically checking to insure all's well with the food and nothing is needed in the line of refills, napkins, or desserts. I intend to keep eating here every once in a while and easily recommend them to all hungry Burqueños on the hunt for flavorful & filling chow at decent prices. read more

I have been here for both lunch and dinner and I like the prices of the lunch more, super affordable! The pictures that I posted are from my most recent dinner visit. I got a top sirloin steak with shrimp with a side of a loaded baked potato and a salad. The salad was great, and the entree was pretty good. The sirloin steak was a bit over cooked which I did not ask for. I asked for medium rare. It was also dry and sorta burnt on the outside. I didn't tell the server anything because it was fine, but I would have preferred if my steak was cooked correctly. Everything else was great, the server was super nice! Since I had never been before I had a hard time choosing what to order. The lighting at the table for the middle of the day was a little dark so we had to open the blinds. He was VERY friendly, personable, made eye contact and readily answered our questions about menu items. Many servers in other establishments should be schooled by Dion! He is great!! Our drinks and appetizer came quickly, Our meals arrived within the perfect amount of time and were delicious, cooked to perfection!!!
