Almost 12 years ago, when my husband was trying to convince me to move to GA for his job, he took me here to the Georgia Diner. I had the most delicious, huge piece of cake ive ever had! Yep, we moved here and have been to the Georgia Diner countless times including today!. Was a bit worried when covid hit but was just so glad they managed to pull thru and really enjoy the uber eats and other app based delivery systems that came out of that. We have never had a bad meal here. The burger meat and sausage links especially are so flavorful. We have always been treated so well here. It is a true americana diner. Popped in for a quick bite with the family. Ambiance was family friendly and there was ample parking. The menu offered a vast variety of choices... from breakfast favorites to specialty pastas. We settled on the Salisbury steak, cheese burger, catfish and shrimp. The Salisbury steak and cheese burger were fair. The catfish and shrimp were saturated with cooking oil. I stopped by there yesterday afternoon because I wanted some home style cooking. I was not disappointed. The dinners come with choice of soup or salad and two sides. I had Salsbury steaks and mushroom gravy with chicken noodle soup, mashed potatoes, green beans and sweet tea. The staff was polite and friendly. The food was simple and good, fresh and hot without a long wait, and much more than I could eat even though I came in quite hungry. I recommend them. read more

I didn't physically go to this restaurant, but ordered on Uber Eats under the name Hot Skillets. I ordered the corned beef hash, so hard to find places that serve it. The food is always good - we have visited here many, many times over the 20 years we've lived in Gainesville. This is a traditional American diner with a comfortable ambiance. However, last night , my husband and I stopped by for some Matzo ball soup and a side salad. We got the bill, and our 2 bowls of soup and one side salad totaled $29.00! There was a $4.95 charge added to the bill for EACH Matzo ball! So, the $6.95 bowl of chicken noodle soup ended up costing $12.00. The service there is always excellent also and the server is really friendly and always remembers me even if its been a long time since I've been there. We were in the area looking for a good breakfast joint! Georgia Diner fit the bill. I recall eating here (probably over 10 years ago)! I recall a large menu. Yep, still there. The restaurant is decorated for Christmas, I really like that! We received a warm welcome by the hostess and were quickly seated and greeted by our server. Wow, i ordered the Georgia Diner Special - lots of food at a great price! I think it was only $8.95. 3 pancakes, 2 eggs, home fries, 2 bacon and a sausage. We took the pancakes to go as i was stuffed. Oh my, i am picky about sausage, and i am happy to say I really liked their sausage. It was in link form, kinda plump, juicy and had a yummy flavor. It was not overpowering. Home fries are hard to find these days, so that was a treat as well! Hubby had eggs, grits and corned beef hash. He really enjoyed his as well. Although his only complaint was that the grits were cold. I told him to send them back, but he didn't. He said they were not gritty, nice and creamy. I wish he would have sent them back, as i would have loved to try them. Will definitely be back. Wood like to give the lunch menu a try. Had breakfast here one cold, rainy, winter morning. Ordered an omelette with spinach, mushrooms, onions, and cheddar cheese, plus a side of bacon and a glass of water, and a cup of coffee. I'm definitely late with this review...I visited this restaurant in June it was close in proximity to the hotel I was staying at. Upon entering was greeted by who I will assume was the owner. Super friendly we had about a 5 mintue wait if that and we was seated right away. The food was decent typical dinner food, The coffee was really good. The waffles was really good. Our waitress was nice although I did notice she alone was taking care of many tables meanwhile other employees were just sitting on their phone. I came here with two others during a Saturday night. The other restaurants in the area appeared to be very busy and not following safety guidelines, specifically, social distancing. I was relieved to see masked employees and customers seated apart from each other. The server was nice, as well as the other employee who was helping in the kitchen, who appeared to be a manager. I personally ordered and ate the chicken noodle soup and chicken Alfredo. The chicken noodle soup tasted homemade and was delicious, but I know it had been reheated since the cup it was served in was extremely hot to the touch and the contents not as much. It was microwaved. When the chicken Alfredo arrived, it had a very distinctive smell. It wasn't pleasant. I was reluctant to eat it based on the smell, but it looked okay. I took a bite and it hit me. The smell was that of canned Alfredo sauce. Bertolli, to be precise. The noodles were cooked perfectly with a slight bite, which I wasn't expecting from a diner. The chicken tasted kind of sweet. And it hit me. This dish is what I made when I lived in a budget. The chicken had that flavor of being from the prepackaged grilled stuff from a grocery deli aisle. It shouldn't be hard for a diner to grill and slice up a chicken breast. I hate to say it: I could have gotten better food from Olive Garden for the same/cheaper price. Diners are 24 hours/7 days a week and gives you that homely feel. My family and I love Metro Diner in Stone Mountain where we usually go after hiking Stone Mountain Park. We pass by Georgia Diner all the time and finally decided to have our family lunch there. It is much smaller than I would have thought. It's more crowded in terms of it looking uncomfy. Staff is really unfriendly and unattentive. No one is wearing their uniform so you do not know who works there or not. When you say thank you, you do not hear you're welcome. Also, if you're not using anything at your table, the waitress will just come to your table and take it to another table without saying anything. On top of that, it's hard to flag your waitress and when you do, she will order someone else to do her job at your table. Oh yeah, if anything cost extra, she will not tell you and just let you pay for the extra charges. Now, don't get me wrong, our waitress IS nice, only nice enough to not but her to come again to check up on you. In addition, she is not attentive and don't care to come fill up your drinks and check up on you. I paid at the cash register. What gets me is the lady up front, stared and make sure I tipped and watched me put the amount and me sign. I tipped more than I should have for a crappy lunch. Such an mediocre place. I'd say this place is a step up from Waffle House. The few perks: open 24 hours with an array of brunch items. Service wasn't terrible. The waitress did come by and checked on us. The food was by far nothing my friend and I couldn't make at home ourselves--french toast with ham, bacon, and 1 sausage. It was super plain, and a tad overly salted. There is a dessert display if you still want to hang around after the okay meal. Oh. And you pay at the front register even though the waitress does bring you the check. Don't just sit there and wonder when the waitress is going to swing by to get the payment. lol. A mac & cheese delivery option! I ordered their 3 cheese mac & cheese & onion rings. The menu explicitly stated the type of pasta & sauce with a picture. What did I get, you ask? Stouffer's mac & cheese. Plain elbow macaroni in a processed orange cheese sauce. No evidence of 2 other cheeses or the correct type of pasta. The only reason this isn't a 1 star review is I happen to like Stouffer's mac & cheese. However paying $11 + tax + delivery + tip was 1000% not worth it. I order via Doordash on a weekly basis from this restaurant on behalf of my mom and the most tackiest thing happened. She asked for one side of blue cheese dressing and somone from the restaurant had the audacity to put a note in the bag refusing to give her the dressing and that if she wanted it, she would have to pay for it. Ok..so I checked the app and finally found an option for extra dressing. You can't select which dressing you want, but you can pay .90 cents for unspecified dressing. Anyway, my issue is that times are really that hard and you couldn't spare a spoonful or so of salad dressing? Could you have given her a courtesy dressing for customer service sake, but then stated that there is an option to order dressing and charges apply for future orders? Absolutely tacky!! read more

Went here for dinner this week to give it a try. I like the other entities like Marietta Diner, Landmark Diner and Pastabella. This place was similar with the menu being large and having a wide variety of options. Unfortunately, the food wasn't that great of quality and the service was really awful. When my date and I sat down a lady took our drink order and delivered them quite quickly. Then another lady came to take our appetizer order. After waiting for some time, another lady came to take our real orders. After the food came out we ate our food and non of the three servers checked on us. We had to get up and find them to close out the tab. Then after the receipt was brought no one came back to get the card. We had to then find them for that too, so we just decided to head out. On the way out we finally got their attention again to run payment and sign receipt. As we waited for that all servers were watching Law & Order on the diner TV and rolling silverware. My friend and I wanted to try a new breakfast spot so we ended up choosing the Georgia Diner. We were seated quickly and assisted by the waitress shortly after. I ordered the waffles with Canadian bacon which tasted good and was very filling. The house fries that my friend let me try we're very tasty so I wouldn't mind coming back to get more of that.
