    Jumbo Lump Crab Cake ($65)
    Samantha G.

Nice ambiance. Good service. Not worth it food. We went on a Wednesday evening because of the jazz music. Reservations recommended. $32 for a gin and tonic. $20 for the Steel Magnolia cocktail. Crazy prices for below average cocktails. Deviled eggs were bland and boring. The devils on horseback were yummy. Our dining mates likes their fried chicken and gumbo. Both of which were $30-some dollar entrees. The $65 jumbo lump crab cake and $41 devil shrimp were completely not worth it. The best thing was the aoili sauce that came with the crab cake. Neither dish has much flavor. And both were rather dry. The mac and cheese was meh. The fries were ok. The other sides went basically untouched. Very disappointed in those massively overpriced entrees. In sum, not at all worth the cost. If the prices better matched the food quality, it would've been ok. Thankfully, the service and ambiance helped. So it evens out to 3 stars.

Georgia Brown's is a true soulfood gem! I stopped by with some of my colleagues and we had a grand ole time! For my drink, I ordered a thirst quenching Southern style sweet iced tea. It truly soothed my soul and tasted like pure bliss. For my appetizers I ordered calamari and also fried chicken livers. Unfortunately, the calamari did not make the photoshoot! It was simply too delicious! The fried chicken livers were like dynamite with each bite! So flavorful, especially dipping into the honey mustard! The seafood penne was filled with scallops, shrimp, and crab meat! Wow! A medley of scrumptious goodness! Hints of lemon juice? olive oil, and other goodness. After a while I realized all of the food had simply disappeared. The ambiance is classy and relaxing with dim lighting. Our waiter was on point and tended to our every need. Cheers to good eats!

I see why reservations are needed and the line was long! I heard about this place on TV and never thought I'd make it. On a visit to DC, our friends had made us reservations. We had a late afternoon reservation and that was perfrct timing as the crowd showed up shortly after. The atmosphere was nice with some old school RnB playing in the vackground. It was a bit loud which made us speak a bit louder than preferred. The drinks were great! She had the peach martini and I had the old fashioned after i had my usual. For appetizers we shared the fried green tomatoes. They were good. Others at the table also had them and enjoyed them. Our entrees were excellent! I had the lambchops at med well temp with greens and mashed yams. Wow! She had the jerk catfish with greens and mac n cheese! We both enjoyed our meals. Nene was our hostess. She checked in often but wasn't annoying. She got all of our orders correctly and made suggestions where needed. This place is a bucket list item checked off and I'd definitely come back if given the chance.

I was in DC visit for a few days and this experience was sooo good! From the food to the vibes and service 10/10! My friend and I made reservations prior to visiting. We were greeted by the hostess and walked to our table. We had brunch reservations and the options were pretty amazing

    Seafood Penne

I was recommended GB by a family member who loved their happy hour specials. I visited during restaurant week, so I tried to give as much slack as I could to the employees. It was PACKED with people and good conversations The good: FOOD. The food here saved this review ten-fold. I had the seafood penne and it was delicious. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. The bad: Slow service. We had a reservation for 7:45 and didn't sit until 8:20. Once seated, everything took forever. The pacing was awful so there were lots of moments of us just sitting around. And I'm not sure why because I never saw a hectic employee running around. I just believe everything was slow, which again, might've just been because of restaurant week. I'd love to come back another time and see if the wait times are better. Because the food was really good, and I'm from Southern Louisiana!

    Omelette

Wow I haven't been here in probably a decade. It has definitely changed, but the food was still good. It's not unlimited brunch, but it is a four course meal for $60 which isn't a bad deal at all, because theyll give you a box for what you can't finish. The live jazz started at 10:45am or so and they played for a bit while we were there from 10-12. They took awhile to bring us the main courses, which was interesting because the restaurant only had maybe one other table occupied. Cornbread for the table: I wasn't a big fan of these, they were a bit dry/hard. Omelette: while we were waiting for food we went to the make-your-own omelette station. Not too many protein options but you can actually add as many ingredients as you want so it was nice. The omelette itself was delicious! Really liked how they made it. Appetizer: I got the fried green tomatoes-- the bed of tomato and onion salad underneath wasn't that great. And I thought the tomato itself also was a bit on the hard side. The batter was super thick. Main: I got the grilled catfish but I'm pretty sure they brought me the blackened one. It was really good. Fish was moist and flaky, and I liked the bed of peas and the scoop of grits. It didn't feel super heavy. Desserts: for 6 of us they brought 2 plates of 3 small slices of dessert to share. The pecan pie was ok-- more nuts than filling but appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet; the sweet potato cheesecake was my favorite--very mild, and I liked the texture; the lemon cake was a bit dry and gritty... Didn't really like that too much. Overall, I was surprised that the restaurant was still largely empty by the time we left at noon. The food was pretty good and the live jazz was nice. It's definitely a different vibe than years ago but I wouldn't mind coming back!

    Thanksgiving Day menu
    Danielle H.

This is a Thanksgiving edition review. For Thanksgiving this year we chose Georgia Brown's to dine. Booking reservations on Open Table was easy. We were seated in a timely manner. The normal restaurant menu is unavailable for holidays. There's a three course holiday menu available to choose from. For appetizers are table picked cranberry meatballs, fried devil eggs, and fried green tomatoes. The highlight of the appetizers was the cranberry meatballs. For entrees, we ordered the fried turkey option (dressing, collard greens, mash potatoes, and cranberry sauce), the halibut, and the vegan option. The dressing was the best but it's a limited portion. The restaurant is upscale with an intimate dining experience. The only negative was the service was slow. The kitchen became overwhelmed and it slowed the time to receive your meal. Overall it was a 3.5 stars. Tips for holiday dining: Book reservations on Open Table at least 3 weeks beforehand. Valet is offered but research parking in advance. Remember the menu is limited for holiday service. There is a kid entree option available.

Came here to meet up with a couple of the girls for happy hour. We came 30 minutes after opening so seating was available at the bar. The bartenders took care of us very nicely. The vibes inside are very nice it gives chic and upscale but homey. The food was delicious. As well as the drinks. HH here is giving regular prices at an average restaurant. Definitely a place I would keep in my books for the future.

The best brunch in DC. I also enjoyed their live jazz performance during brunch. The buffet brunch offers everything from breakfast items to dinner items. The french toast was buttery and sweet. The catfish and grits were seasoned to perfection. The fish also tasted really fresh. I enjoy the drinks. Parking isn't the best since it's in DC so I recommend catching the metro. Customer service is also great. The staff is very accommodating and great with recommending good food and good drinks to try.

Came to Georgia Brown's for a friend's birthday dinner and had a lovely time! Beautiful ambiance that is photo worthy at every turn. I got the Seafood Penne, a cheesy mixture of shrimp, scallops, and crab all bound by a flavorful Cajun cream sauce. Would come back just for this! The service was speedy despite it being such a packed night. Appreciate the staff's kindness and dedication to ensuring we were all satisfied with our dishes! Fantastic place for a fancy dinner experience!

We had a great time for my husband's birthday celebration here at Georgia Brown's! The food was wonderful and the service was impeccable! They saying happy birthday to him and that was a highlight! I thoroughly enjoyed our celebration here and so did our family and friends! I highly recommend this place for brunch and for dinner!

This was my second visit and it was a solid experience. Will try some other menu options on my next trip. Great staff, great vibe, and good menu options. Fully stocked bar, and central location.

I thought it was okay but nothing to rave home about. The service was standard. I ordered the seafood penne and my friend got a shrimp dish. We finished our meals and felt that the dishes were pretty standard. The seafood penne itself, the noodles I felt were too soft due to the sauce vs. being more al denté. I did enjoy the amount of crab that was in the dish and I thought the flavors weren't too overpowering. Now was it enough to make me want it again? No, but it did the job for the time being. I will say the portions are also pretty big for the price which is nice. Random observation, but super cute bathrooms!

What an...interesting experience…read more This bar sits on top of the Moxy Hotel, which is a sleek, modern spot in downtown DC. Unfortunately, getting to the rooftop was one of the most frustrating parts of the night. Access is only through the lobby, and the security team handling crowd control was completely disorganized. We were constantly being redirected with conflicting instructions: told to line up around the bar, then yelled at to move to the wall, then called to the elevator, then scolded for approaching it. It felt chaotic and unnecessarily hostile, like we were being managed instead of welcomed. To make things worse, IDs were checked multiple times (3-4 times per person) because there was no clear or centralized process. We were attending a birthday party that the venue itself had advertised on Instagram with ~75 guests expected at 9pm. When we arrived, we were told the rooftop was "closed" until 10. After waiting an hour in the lobby bar and dealing with the confusion above we finally got upstairs...only to find it already packed with people who had clearly been there for hours. The "reserved section" for our group was extremely underwhelming: a small space directly in front of a very loud DJ booth and a cold back corner where the heat lamps didn't work (and staff said there was nothing they could do). Service was just okay...no one was particularly friendly, but orders were eventually filled. The bar was oddly limited (only one beer option: Michelob Ultra), and some bartenders seemed unsure about basic drink requests (like a vodka soda with pineapple). The biggest issue came when we asked for the birthday cake we had given to staff earlier for storage. No one knew where it was. It took over 30 minutes and multiple staff members to locate it, and when we finally left for the night, the cake box was damaged beyond use with no remorse. Overall, this is much more of a crowded, club-style rooftop than a place for a planned event, dinner, or even conversation. The view is nice, but the experience didn't match the hype. If you go, expect a party vibe and minimal service and be prepared to navigate some very confusing (and inconsistent) security direction.

They gave us the two-hour heads up, which was totally fair. The outside seating area was closed off because of the weather, but honestly it didn't even rain. That didn't kill the vibe AT ALL though! We started with 4 orders of chips and guac and omg the guac had this perfect little spicy kick to it, chef's kiss! Everyone ordered something different and the carne asada was a total crowd favorite. My sister got the barbacoa tacos and was obsessed. We also got the elote with chips (didn't snap a pic but I'm STILL thinking about it). And there's this salad with strawberries and chicken that I was NOT expecting it to be that good. Now let's talk about the PALETA SHOTS - you HAVE to try these!! We kept ordering round after round. Also had some Espolón Blanco. For dessert we went all in with churros and tres leches cake and I have zero regrets. The DJ was killing it all night, playing r&b and taking requests! They even gave my cousin a birthday shoutout which made her whole night. The staff was on point, the energy was unmatched, and honestly I can't wait to come back. If you're looking for a fun spot with amazing food and good vibes, THIS IS IT! Highly recommend.

They have a large beer, wine, and liquor list (although not nearly as many English beers as I expected from a place called Crown & Crow). I won't deny that I wasn't a fan of either of the mixed cocktails I had, with both (including strangely a smoky drink) being too sweet. But the beer was expertly poured and the wine was a very generous serving. The prices are also more than reasonable, which is great for a DC bar. But what really elevates this place is the service. By late night, the place was jam packed. But each and every bartender was extremely friendly and they expertly worked the crowd, getting drinks served quickly (which too few places manage to do) and swiftly clearing off tables of dirty glasses. I also greatly appreciated the free goldfish that they happily dole out to the patrons. The staff made this a really good time.

The bartender in the main room was great, he was very friendly and once he started a tab for me he said I could use the other bar too, I guess he wasn't aware the bartender at that other bar already told me she wouldn't help me. Regardless, the drinks we had were decent. For small bites, they only had gold fish crackers, I wish they would have had more to nosh on while drinking. Overall, not a bad visit.
