This review is solely based on customer service. I totally understand that in Utah on a Sunday, options are limited because most establishments are closed. So when I located George's, I was excited! I was in a group with a little one who was craving pancakes. And if you know kids, once it's in their heads, it's pretty much impossible to change it. The online ordering system was unavailable so my husband went inside to place a to-go order. To our surprise, they refused to let us put in a to-go order. We were given two options: eat there (which had a huge line) or go somewhere else. My husband even tried to reduce the order to just get the pancakes but still they refused it. I have never been to a place where they so rudely refused business. I get it...Sunday mornings are a busy time anywhere, and even more so in Utah. I also get that every business has a right to refuse business. But the customer service needs help especially if this is probably the case every Sunday. read more

Substitute mushrooms in place of cucumbers and add Pepper Jack cheese to the Lamb Burger....10 out of 10 Staff is super friendly. Even helped pick a campsite nearby. Parking is limited and the wait for a table upstairs was a bit long, but the downstairs bar area was very open, lively, and seating available. read more

This spot is super cute and so many good options to choose from on the menu. They offer Indoor & Outdoor seating options and plenty of complementary parking. I ate here twice on my visit to St. George and both times the service was great, everyone is so friendly. I ordered 1 Mahi Taco & 1 Shrimp Taco with the side salad which I would recommend - I'm not a huge fan of side salads but this one is probably the best I've had. From the moment we walked in, the vibe at George's Corner was fantastic. The staff was super friendly, and the atmosphere really hit the mark. The live music was a nice touch and added to the overall experience. This place is always busy--being in a tourist town and all--but despite the rush, the service was outstanding. We grabbed a table outside, and though it was a bit chilly for our kids, our waitress immediately noticed and brought them blankets. Talk about going above and beyond! As for drinks, I tried the Bloody Mary--definitely an interesting twist with Guinness, but it missed the mark on garnishes. As a Bloody Mary enthusiast, I'd give it a 4/10. The Jalapeño Mojito? Now, that was something special. Starts with a sweet, classic mojito flavor, then finishes with a nice little punch of jalapeño heat. I'm not usually blown away by mojitos, but this one was a game-changer--9.5/10. For appetizers, we went with the Fried Pickles, which were crispy and packed with flavor. The dipping sauce was creamy with just a hint of spice, and the pairing worked well. Solid 7/10. The Fried Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Coleslaw came highly recommended, and I had high hopes. As someone with a Southern mother-in-law who makes fried chicken that's practically legendary, I wasn't sure what to expect. But this chicken--wow. Easily in the top 5 of the best I've had--9/10. However, we didn't get the mashed potatoes. Apparently, our order wasn't taken correctly, and we ended up with fries instead. Not the end of the world, but I'm definitely looking forward to trying the mashed potatoes next time! The Lamb Burger with Fries had a great concept, and the flavors were spot on. The lamb was tasty, and the veggie-sauce pairing was on point. My only issue? The burger was a bit dry--probably because of the lamb. But still, it was good enough for a solid 6.5/10. The Kids Buttered Noodles were a win--they loved them, which is the most important thing. And the Kids Burger and Fries? Bigger than expected--more like a medium-sized burger than a mini, but that's a good problem to have. Had we ordered two, we'd probably have ended up with way too much food. I really wanted to give George's Corner a solid 4/5 stars because the food and atmosphere were great, and the service was incredibly friendly. However, the experience was marred by a few missteps. We didn't get the mashed potatoes due to an order mix-up, and we were initially brought the wrong drinks and order a couple of times. Unfortunately, due to how popular the restaurant was, we weren't able to correct these mistakes right away, and service was a little slower than expected. That said, when the service did arrive, it was great. Given these issues, I have to drop my rating to 3/5 stars. read more

We had the best dinner in St. George at George's corner! We had our pup with us and they sat us on their cute and cozy patio and even brought out a water bowl! The food was phenomenal, we ordered the salmon special and the Dixie cheesesteak and the seasonal bread pudding for dessert. Start to finish, deliciousness!! The beverage options are extensive and we had a kombucha and a beer - both so good. Shaylynn made us feel right at home with the best service and a refreshing warmth we never feel in California. I didn't have high exceptions for this place- but it did surpass those expectations. We did have to wait about 10 mins for a table, but then were seated at a hightop in the bar area. We ordered the fried chicken plate and the taco salad with pork. They were both good and super generous portions. The "salad" only had about 10 pieces of lettuce and a ton of pork. I wish there had been more lettuce. There was plenty of leftovers. We definitely fell for a tourist trap here. Place looked good on Google, looked fine on yelp, but in reality, the food is so beyond mediocre, it's bad. The restaurant is very American food vibes, and the waiter was fine, nothing to complain about there. However, the moment our "fried" pickles came out, my husband and I both said uh oh. They were barely fried, and the Sriracha aioli was nothing more than mayo with barely a hint of Sriracha. I got the jalapeno margarita and all I could taste was jalapeno, including huge chunks in the drink. My buttermilk fried chicken was basically the quality of Walmart, and the sides were actually the best part, with good fries and ok Mac and cheese. Start to finish, what a delightful meal! Started with the Dusty Rose and Old Fashioned cocktails. Balanced, not overly sweet. Then on to delicious and perfectly crunchy fried pickles. Husband and I had the smoked turkey club and the burger with blue cheese and bacon. There was an unexpected pop of flavor in the club and my medium rare burger was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Ordered biscuits and gravy. They give biscuits with a touch of gravy. Imagine eating sawdust. It was cold when I got it but that's whatever. We asked for more gravy which they are happy to charge for. Feels like they create a problem to charge for the solution. This was my first experience with them so maybe they have better food. I usually start my review with pros - but not this time. Cons: strange entrance, not on the street (a corner) but at the back parking lot. Pay parking - unless you are lucky enough to get a place on the street. Very crowded, tables close together. We were seated right away, but waitstaff was busy. Over 10 minutes to get a cold drink. We ordered nachos because we didn't want to wait for something more complicated. I've had better nachos at taco bell. Lots of chips (bagged and somewhat stale), very little cheese (velveeta?), and the tiniest bit of salsa - which was piled with cilantro even though we asked for no cilantro. By the time they brought more salsa, we were finished eating and then they brought our refill beer. Pricey for the value. Maybe don't order nachos at a non mexican restaurant. read more

Georges corner is forever one of my favorites when visiting St. George, their prices are so affordable, they have a great selection of cocktails and beer and they're open until pretty late compared to the restaurants in town. I came to George's corner alone. The hostess asked if it was just me and then sadly proceeded to tell me that my only options were that I could either sit at the bar or at a small table. It felt like I was being downgraded because I was not with a partner or a friend. I'm a widow and I enjoy my own company. I like to go out for a meal occasionally. This may not be the social norm in St. George. It may not even be acceptable in Mormon territory that I eat alone as a woman, but my suggestion is to retrain the hostess at being more sensitive and keeping her own personal feelings neutral. It would've been fine if she said, "would you like a table or a seat at the bar " in a friendly voice. None of the other employees expressed concern about my aloneness, thankfully. And the food was OK ; although I think calling it a strawberry rhubarb pie when it's just rhubarb and strawberry in a small soufflé dish with a square of puff pastry on top is not what I consider a pie. This restaurant is charming but it was crazy busy so we ordered takeout. If there's anyone on the planet who doesn't appreciate creating their own grilled cheese sandwich, I haven't met them. The basic sandwich comes with beautiful, thick cut bread. Then, you add whatever you like. Bacon? Grilled onions? Avocado? It's a simple and winning concept and the result is delicious. St. George may not be Philadelphia but the Philly cheesesteak here is also excellent. It comes on a soft pretzel roll--definitely not traditional but who cares--and pretzel rolls are always fantastic. Great thinking. The meat is cubed and not shaved but so what. The sandwich is terrific. The fries were good but the onion rings were better. Free parking in the lot or free street parking. We had to hoof it a bit on a Friday night. Excellent food! read more

We had originally intended to dine at Hive 435 Tap House across the street so it was disappointing to find out our daughter was too young to enter. However it may have been a blessing in disguise because we stumbled upon George's Corner. George's appears to be a happenin' spot and we witnessed this firsthand because the restaurant was packed by the time we departed and there were plenty of customers waiting to be seated. They have outdoor seating and plenty of indoor seating spread across two floors as well as a full bar. They also have a good sized menu and serve up social plates, small bites, greens, sammies, burgers, hunger pangs (entree sized plates) and so much more. George's even has local artists play live music a few times a week. Abigail was our server and she was both friendly and helpful with her recommendations. After some deliberation, I opted for the Dixie Cheese Steak Sandwich with house salad and a Zion Kolsch to wash it down with. I brought my appetite that evening so I was still hungry after. Instead of ordering a dessert, I decided to go with Cheese Fries instead because why not? Everything I tasted hit the spot. I remember this being a framing/photography shop about 20 years ago. Ancestors Square has undergone many changes over the years. Anchors such as Painted Pony and Benja's are still resident mainstays. Given the history of George's Corner (conveniently displayed all over restaurant's interior) it's nice to see it returned to it's original location. Nestled politely on the outer corner of Ancestors Square (St George Blvd & Main St) it has wonderful outdoor covered seating facing the interior of the square which was surprisingly quiet from the street noise. Parking takes perseverance but is doable. They don't take reservations but lunch was not a wait (1 p.m.). Food consists of many selections from simple salads, sandwiches ( with a little flare) lobster roll was on my dining day's menu, to burgers, and a fish and chips (choice of "chips") ordered by my dining companion. We started with margaritas to celebrate a birthday and nibbled on buttermilk calamari (perfect with nice spicy ketchup dipping sauce). Other items to put on the "next time to have"...lamb burgers ( haven't had since the late 60's but can taste them now). George's serves breakfast too with an extensive morning's offerings. Don't overlook the bbq baby back ribs, grilled ribeye, finger lickin fried chicken, oh there is a pulled pork sandwich which is going on my list. My waist reminds me the salads (and only a few soups) are filling too (full plate...caeser, tostada, green, chef's choice, and a 'tavern chopped). Vegans should be able to make adequate selections and requests from the extensive menu to satisfy their dietary requirements. Coffee was spot on (I am a coffee drinker and realize this is Utah and it's all relative). While the menu is huge, the dessert selections are not. George's has a full bar of beer, wine, spirits, and mixed drinks. I daresay there is something for everybody at George's Corner along with a taste of history. Add this one to your list. read more

The wait was long without a reservation (and a party of 7), but it was so worth it! Friendly hostess, wonderful waiter, and awesome food! Due to the long wait, we opted to sit on the patio which was pretty chilly but the heaters worked wonderfully, it was comfortable with enough space, and we weren't forgotten! We ordered: garlic bread with goat cheese and honey (so good!!), house made chicken noodle soup, battered fish with onion rings, george's cheeseburger, and the chocolate caramel custard. I've gone to George's three times and had two different experiences. When going during brunch, it was delicious and a fantastic service. We were able to have our large dogs sit on the patio with us. The server, gave them a bowl of cold water and then a plate of whipped cream each, they were in heaven. Haha. I had the salmon Benedict because I had been craving a Benedict for awhile. It was DELICIOUS! The smokiness of the salmon with the creamy hollandaise sauce was tops. The peppered tomatoes was the perfect compliment to it. The second time I had gone was for a "goodbye" party at night, service was awful. I understand a place being busy, but when a mojito comes before a simple shot of tequila is just sad. My man had to wait for a glass of coke and his tequila in the rocks over 30 while my friend got her mojito in two minutes. Also, the gave him a shit of tequila instead of in a rocks glass with ice. Refills didn't happen for about an hour as well. We almost didn't want to come back again after that incident. Our food also came soggy and Luke warm at best. We didn't even want to bother complaining because we knew it would take another 45 minutes to get anything. It was quite the disappointment. The third time we went was about two hours before closing and everything came out almost instantly. We sat downstairs next to the bar and it felt like drinks flew off the counter to our table. Our server was attentive and we were able to get our food in a decent amount of time. It tasted delicious and we were quite pleased. I understand completely when a restaurant is busy, but when we went the second time, our server barely acknowledged us. That was our hugest issue with it all. At least check on us while we wait. We found this spot on Yelp as we were traveling into the area for the holidays, and we were so happy with it!! It was about 7pm on 12/23 and there were people waiting to be seated, but they were able to accommodate our party of 6 right away if we sat on the patio. The heater was warm, we had great local beer, and the food was excellent! Our server, Dupree, was great. He answered all of our questions and provided great service with good recommendations. My husband and I shared the Dixie Cheese Steak sandwich and fries and the sandwich was so good with plenty of meat, and the fries were perfect! I came with my in laws for dinner. My FIL wanted country fried steak and the reviews said they had it. We came during winter break so the wait was long for a Monday night-about 45-50 minutes before we were seated. The restaurant was a cozy warm which was nice on a winters night. Sadly, the country fried steak was only a breakfast item and they refused to make an exception. That's the only thing that would've made our experience better. That being said-their fried chicken was so stinking good! It came with 5 pieces of chicken and 2 sides. Everyone at the table mentioned how tasty it was and how we would come back for that alone. I suggest not ordering the mashed potatoes for a side as it was only okay. I ordered the seasonal salad that came with arugula, sweet potatoes, nuts, and I added the salmon. It was very delicious and I would 100% order it again. I also appreciated the portion size of the salad. We were so lucky to stumble upon George's Corner on our drive from California to Alpine. The food was refreshingly delicious and the ambiance is so quaint with a vintage farmhouse feel. Paul was our server and he was so helpful! He was so thoughtful to bring a dog water bowl for our furry girl. He made sure to accommodate our kids with our high maintenance order of 1/2 water and 1/2 lemonade to limit their sugar intake. Paul also made sure to request a table next to us for my in laws who were caravanning not far behind us. Before they arrived he had water waiting for them all. Paul's service was above and beyond and we will definitely be back to this adorable spot. Thank you for the gorgeous views of the fall trees, delicious food and overall warm hospitality. read more
