We came back! My husband and I snuck away just us for dinner. We were able to get a seat quickly because it was the two of us. We sat on the porch, which was a bit warm. But they did have a ceiling fan. It was weird because we sat between two large parties that apparently or together, so that was a bit awkward, but we were wrapping up our dinner so it all worked out. The server was super nice. He went out of his way to make sure he recommended his favorite dishes which by the way we did try. Here we were in Florida and we actually got pork chops instead of seafood. It was a chef special that night and it was so delicious. I ended up getting the servers recommended dish of the shrimp which was spicy and very delicious. we loved coming back and reminiscing about the times before we could not believe how much has been built up around this restaurant we almost drove right past it. This was my second time eating at George's and overall it was a good experience! I went with my friends for a bachelorette party. We had six people and the wait was about 45 minutes on a Saturday around 8. Food: We got the calamari fries and feta board for appetizers and I highly recommend both. The feta board was definitely my favorite. I got the yellowtail for dinner. While the flavor was amazing, the portion size was truly so small. I think they might have been running out by the time we ate because I had seen photos of the dish before and it looked like a much bigger filet. I swear I had about 5 bites of fish by the end of it. Service: Overall, the service was great. I will say the outside bar was a little bit slow but they only had one person manning it, and she was working as quickly as she could. Our second large group visit was excellent, but not quite the experience the first one was a year and a half later. We lined up about 4:40 and didn't get seated until after 6pm, so if you miss the first seating, prepare to wait. Service was great, however the fly infestation at our table was disgusting. Worrying about flies on your food every second is not the most appetizing way to fine dine. The calamari was still outstanding. The salt and pepper shrimp went from incredible last time to mediocre this time. The snapper was said to be a hit. You can't go wrong with the Goo dessert. Our meal here was good. The calamari fries were my favorite dish. The dipping sauce was delicious and the calamari themselves were soft and not chewy at all. I had the fried fish of the day which was good. I wouldn't go back for it nor would I crave it. My husband had the Jerk Snapper and he thought it was good too. The drinks here weren't good. Food which is normally excellent was fair. Grouper tacos fishy. Original serving of black beans and rice arrived cold and beans appeared dried up. Requested additional serving and both arrived hot. It has been a few years since I ate at George's and I was disappointed enough that I won't go back. It is no longer worth the wait. The food quality is lacking. Not the best service and we were seated in an inside spot next to a table of people so loud that we could not have a conversation. While the restaurant can not control a group of loud talkers, there were plenty of tables in other more desirable areas. Ordered the lobster quesadillas as an entree, to my surprise there was barely any cheese and the quesadillas were instead full of seafood, I can't say lobster here because it was full of only a few pieces of lobster, the rest being shrimp and crab. The combination of all of these three was odd and didn't taste good. The total of 4 people was 130$ which is pretty pricey for a disappointing lunch. We loved our dinner at George's this evening! We started with drinks: a glass of Elizabeth Spencer and the George's Southern Peach Tea cocktail. Both were perfect! We skipped appetizers and went straight to entrees. We ordered the Jerk Crusted Gulf Snapper and George's Famous Shrimp plate. The snapper wasn't a 10/10, but the shrimp plate certainly was! Lastly we ended with the iconic Warm Chocolate Toffee Goo dessert and it was everything and more! So so so good. The service is excellent, Aleksandra was our waitress and she was so kind and quick to get everything we needed. There were quite a few flies, which I get is somewhat unavoidable, but the staff brought out two fly fans that were covered in grime, honestly worse than having no fans at all. Many friends recommended George's and boy did it not disappoint! My husband and I arrived for an early dinner at 5.15pm with no wait at all. (For reference we're visiting during Halloween week so not considered "in season"). I was pleasantly surprised to find they had a table for six available when we arrived, as they don't accept reservations. George's is praised for its coastal cuisine, fresh seafood and being locally sourced. It opened in 2008 in Seagrove Beach and moved to a stunning beach cottage in trendy Alys Beach. As this was our first visit, we saw most guests were enjoying wine. But we were happy to learn they have several craft cocktails available each evening. We started with the tuna tartare and the lobster quesadilla. Both were exceptional. Being a big fan of ahi, you can guess which was my favorite. For entrees, the spicy salt & pepper shrimp was calling my name. It is served with charred brussels sprouts, snow peas, melon and basmati rice. It was a large portion perfect for my large appetite. Other diners ordered the Caprese Pasta with shrimp and raved about the bucatini and heirloom tomato pomodoro. Unfortunately with the little people getting anxious we had to depart before having dessert. We ate at George's on a Thursday night as a group of 7. They don't take reservations but we arrived around 5:30 and were seated right away at an outside table. Our server was excellent and knowledgeable. I personally had the snapper and the rest of the group has a mix of other fish plates and pasta. Every meal was plated beautifully and was equally tasty.
