First off the hostess and bar tender were great! Friendly and helpful. We sat at bar on Thursday evening and were greeted right away. We ordered a lemon drop and an ice tea. The lemon drop was underwhelming - not much flavor. The shrimp cocktail was very good. As for the iceberg salad the dressing was way too over powering. Strangely our resy that we confirmed just an hour prior was no where to be found but they found a spot for us for an early dinner and we were seated without issue despite being fully booked for the night. We stopped in for dinner at Citizen and the service and food were both excellent. They are located in the town square area with some patio seating out front. For apps we had the whipped feta with naan and oysters and both were awesome. For dinner we had short rib , the filet and snapper. Pricey oysters for happy hour ($32 for a dozen), but very tasty and fun to sit at the oyster bar and watch them shuck on the spot. They serve the oysters with various sauces to try and horseradish to ask separately. Overall, nice environment for a chill oyster experience. read more

I really enjoyed this establishment. I felt it delivered exactly what I was expecting. Great atmosphere at the seafood bar for a martini and of course we needed to order oysters and they were perfect. We continued with the she crab soup, soup and pasta with mushrooms and pork belly. We said we reserved our table for happy hour and then when we got there, they sat us in another room and then they told us to go to another room and then we had to keep switching And we ordered ceviche the fish and when we were eating it, there was a dead fly in it, and our kid was eating. The adults can drink alcohol to sanitize yourself, but the kids cant the people who don't drink alcohol can't like the moms. I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The service was extremely poor from beginning to end. Our waiter was inattentive, rarely checked on our table, and made us feel completely ignored. What made the experience even worse was finding a fly in my ceviche, which is a raw fish dish. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the restaurant's hygiene and food safety standards. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. I had a reservation for The Citizen last week for a large group that the whole group was very excited to try. Unfortunately, while in route to the restaurant, our ride caught on fire on the side of 98. We immediately ubered in 2 vehicles. We attempted to call for about 20/25 minutes and no answer from the restaurant. We arrived at The Citizen about 12/15 min after our reservation. Upon arrival I saw our table that was set for 10 of us with no one seated. After about 10 minutes of talking with hostess and manager, they ultimately said they cancelled us because we were to late and then walked a walk-in to our table. As someone that has worked in the industry for 10+ years cancelling a large table without so much as a phone call and then not having anyone answer when someone calls is wild. But then the lack of customer service from the manager that we talked to was wild. read more

We had a lunch reservation, and once we were seated, we experienced a 90 minute wait to receive our sandwich order. Ambience and overall aesthetics are gorgeous. Other than our martinis being luke warm and our sandwiches and fries being cold, the flavor was good. I imagine it would have been delicious if it was served in a timely fashion. Pork shoulder was tender, juicy, and well-seasoned, cheddar biscuits would've been amazing alone and were a glorious choice for the bread base, perfectly cooked eggs, and a tangy hollandaise...amazing. Aside from that gem, the overall menu looked similarly excellent, lots of choices for lots of tastes. Cocktails were quite enjoyable. Ambiance is comfortably elegant--bright and welcoming (I see where one reviewer commented on acoustics, and I could see that as an issue with a crowd, but it was fine while I was there). The manager wasn't any better. Customer service reviews are poor for this restaurant and now I see why. Very disappointed with behaviors of management and if that's the first impression you want your business to have that's quite sad. Your restaurant was basically empty, we had reservations and kept them knowing the rain may come, the behaviors from your hostess were unfortunate. Sebastian and David were beyond hospitable and had so much authentic enthusiasm explaining the menu offerings and all things Alys Beach. Mint Ty cocktail with three different rums was distinctive and so very good. Hats off to the chef. I'd recommend the shrimp ceviche with Gulf prawns, a smattering of mango, shallots, and peppers, served with the most comforting and delicious warmed buttered saltine crackers. WOW! The mocktails were amazing for this pregnant lady. I got the dupe of an Aperol Spritz and it was even better than an alcoholic Aperol Spritz if I'm being honest! The food was incredible. My husband got the summer pesto pasta and got shrimp for the protein. I got the she crab soup with a wedge salad and it was also incredible. The ambiance was modern yet cozy. So good, that we could have just ordered several more of those and skip the meal. For the meal, we ordered Avocado Toast, Short Rib Hash, Charred Avocado Salad. The Avocado entrees were very good. Loved the apps, the shrimp and whipped feta being a clear favorite and a nice spread of dips. For an entree I tried the fish and brisket and loved both. The citizen is our favorite spot in 30A. Located in stunning Aly's beach, there's a chic indoor and outdoor seating available as well as bar seating. We opted for bar seating since we wanted more apps & drinks tonight. Service is always great. And the menu changes often seasonally. I absolutely loved the fleur de vie cocktail, will be ordering every time from here on out! We also always order the whipped feta as an appetizer, which is deliciously paired with honey, pita, and rosemary almonds. Other appetizers we've enjoyed in the past include the blue crab beignets and the cheddar biscuits. Tonight, we decided to try their specialty seasonal dessert - pumpkin spice tres leches. It came with a thick layer of mocha chantilly cream which I felt took away from the tres leches, but the dessert was still enjoyable.
