Second time in, must see place when visiting the area! Cool quaint place, bustling with people who want great food. Let me just say, it's worth the wait. No reservations;/ Parking is down the road, and there is a shuttle to bring you to the restaurant. We both got the Grouper Special on a grit cake with sautéed spinach, the fish perfectly cooked and that grit cake was to die for! Loved the crunchy edges and soft grit center, yummy! We split a piece of Key Lime pie for dessert which I'm glad we did, it was a large piece, definitely shareable. Good graham cracker crust, nice lime filling, not too tart, just right! I cannot believe this is the first review I've written for The Red Bar. The Red Bar isn't just a restaurant you "try." It's a place you return to. Over and over. It's the dim lights, the walls covered in art, the music that makes you stay longer than you planned. And the food? Always worth it. Always memorable. Some places are good. Some places are trendy. The Red Bar is a tradition. If you've been, you already understand. If you haven't -- go experience it for yourself. Just don't wait as long as I did to write about it. We went last night and overall the experience was great, as usual. The Red Bar continues to be one of our go-to spots. My friend ordered the chicken dish and loved it (she's had it before and it never disappoints). I ordered the tuna dip and a salad -- both were delicious and exactly what I was hoping for. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly done. I was sad to miss out on the crab cakes this time, but that just gives me a reason to come back. The only downsides: our waitress didn't mention that it would have been less expensive to pay in cash and my top-shelf margarita just wasn't great. For a place that does so many things well, that cocktail missed the mark. Overall, still a strong experience and a place we'll absolutely return. Booked a reservation due to an announcement for a "new menu". Turns out the menu was still the same. We had the Penne Chicken, Shrimp & Crawfish, Crab Cakes, and the Blackened Grouper. Most came with a house salad and bread. Fish was cooked well and hearty portions were served. The menu isn't extensive, so be prepared to choose from the five items listed. The back room was very loud with parties seemingly yelling at each other across the table and for the whole restaurant to hear as well. We attempted to get drinks at the bar prior to sitting, impossible to get through on a Friday night, but our waitress got our orders in and served quickly once we were sitting. Note: this is very much a dive bar scene where the booths were covered with duct tape to keep together and other booths appearing to be reused airplane seats of some sort. read more

I've been coming to the Red Bar for decades, and it's been consistently excellent. The food is always delicious, the service is good, and the atmosphere remains just as unique as ever; even with the addition of more outdoor seating. Grayton Beach has grown up around the Red Bar, and honestly, when you think of Grayton Beach, you think of the Red Bar.our server tonight was Jaquiline and she was fantastic. There's only 6 or so entrees on the menu so food comes out super fast. On this visit, we had the fresh grouper, signature crab cakes, and eggplant stuffed with shrimp and scallops. Everything was outstanding, as usual. The only thing that's really changed over the years are the prices...($48 for crab cakes now); but it's still absolutely worth it. To top it off, we shared a slice of key lime pie, and it was one of the best I've ever had! It was tart, light and topped with fresh whipped cream. Graham cracker crust was perfection. Such a great spot and well worth the wait! It was very crowded, even late on a Wednesday night. We added our name to the wait list and waited at the bar. I tried one of their cucumber martinis and one of their fresh squeezed margs. Both were just okay. The marg in particular was poorly balanced, and I was unable to finish it. I wouldn't recommend that one. My husband got a beer, and it was served completely flat. Kind of odd. He didn't finish this either. Once seated, we had a great server! He was attentive and helpful. We got the fish dip to start. OMG this was crazy good!!! I couldn't stop repeating how great it was. Highly recommend this. It had a kick to it, which I loved and was not expecting. I have been to Red Bar before, but I think this was my first time sitting in the main dining room for dinner. There were five of us squished in a small booth and it was very busy, of course because it is such a good restaurant in a popular location. We really enjoyed the food, but our service was kind of slow at times. We got our food before we ever got our drinks. In addition, our servers pen exploded on him which also happened to get on my friend, of course it was all an accident, but just very unfortunate. It was very busy, but the staff definitely tried to get us seated as soon as possible. Since it was summer, there were definitely a lot of bachelorette parties and things like that. Overall, we had a fairly good experience, it just is a little more hectic on a Saturday night. We were staying in one of the apartments above the Zoo Gallery and the gallery owner recommended The Red Bar and we are so glad we listened. Just walking by we could feel the fun, welcoming energy. The eclectic decor, cozy lighting and upbeat atmosphere drew us in right away. We went in on a Monday around 5 and despite it being pretty packed we were seated right away. The vibe inside is quirky, clean and inviting. Definitely a place with personality. Our server was awesome and it was fun seeing them bring a huge poster sized menu to the table. The menu is small, but everyone in our party found something they were looking forward to trying. My husband and I started with margaritas. They were freshly squeezed and super refreshing. For dinner, I had the Grouper Special: blackened grouper served over a bacon cheddar grit cake with a side salad. It was phenomenal! I would come back to Grayton Beach for that dish alone. Our daughter had the Shrimp and Crayfish. She couldn't stop raving about it. My husband had the Mahi with citrus beurre blanc. It was flaky, flavorful and cooked to perfection. This place has it all. Yesterday we couldn't find a spot to park but the Chiringon had a spot so we had lunch there BUT we had to come back and try again the Red Bar and omg no regrets this place has it all Ordered the Poboy and I am no kidding there is enough food for two finicky eaters or one hungry dude My only complaint is that the chlorine that they serve has some water in it but it is not their fault but the City of Grayton proper, horrible water but ended up ordering beers for both Service was excellent, not very many people at 1:30 so it worked out very well. Experience just getting there! Was told ahead of time to take the "tram" as there is no parking at the restaurant. Arrived by 4pm, promptly greeted by friendly staff & seated on a patio outside as requested (party of 6 adults + 2 kids). Happy to be seated on the patio in the open air, only a drink menu with a few appetizers given. That's strange! No true food menu? Then waitress brings a chalkboard with the menu of 4-5 options... that's it! Thank goodness there were kid options available, that she verbally told us. Orders given. We wait. And wait. And wait. Shouldn't be hard... there's only like 5 various & variations of those meals (fried/blackened/grilled) being served from the menu, most of the apps aren't made in house, come frozen. Yet, we wait. Still waiting with 2 toddlers. Finally the apps come, wait even longer for meal... Adult meals were "good" or "ok", pasta was just blah, nothing special, seafood was the WINNER! Went to The Red Bar last night for a bachelorette dinner and it did not disappoint. They didn't take reservations but we only waited around 30 minutes for a group of 12. They sat us outside all together. Inside they had live music and a super fun environment. Our waiter even let us take pictures on the beach after we sat down, which is walking distance from the restaurant. Our crew also takes food super seriously and The Red Bar really came through. Ok, I love this place because of the cool vibe and food. I have been coming here over 20 years or more, even when the clear shower curtain was on the Lady's Bathroom door! If you decide to come here they do not take reservations. But they now take Credit Cards! Ok, this is hard for me to say. This is first time that I was not impressed with something here... I had 2 different types of Margaritas and both were terrible, they looked good but they were very bad tasting. Louis, you need to invest in new bar tenders or train them more. On to the food! Glad they still use the chalkboard! I started off with a cup of Gumbo, great Cajun Flavor, maybe the best in the area!!! For an Entree I got the Shrimp and Crawfish pasta, amazing!!!! What a wonderful meal! We arrived just as seating started. The vibe is fun, cluttered and colorful. Trevor, our server was A+!! He helped us with our decisions as this was our first visit. The menu is small... well, the literal menu is LARGE, a chalk board that each server carries to their table, but the selection is limited, which was fine by us! My husband had the Mahi Mahi and I had shrimp and crawfish pasta! Both were great. Trevor offered us additional sauce if desired and I took him up on it. For dessert, we split the bread pudding which was amazing. One thing to be aware of, there is no real parking in the immediate area. They have a trolly, but I'm not sure where the designated spot is if there is one. We drove around a while and lucked out finding a spot on a side street but they are few and far between. For 30 years, I have had many fish sandwiches here and they are always great. They are awesome and have added on several pounds to this 6'5" body. The fries are just as addicting! Almost as good as the double fried Dutch fries that people line up for hours to consume! Nothing on the chalk board is not excellent and service is always five star. What I cannot understand is why the 1.5 hour break between lunch menu and dinner. Ollie is the best business man on 30A but I just cannot understand why they cannot solve that long break between services. I think the fish sandwiches should be served from morning till closing. The ambiance is amazing, they have great staff and always do their absolute best to accommodate everyone that walks through the door! The live music really makes the experience and they have great cocktails, especially their martinis! In the last 10 years Grayton has gained a lot of traction and I think they do their absolute best to accommodate the volume of people that come through! If you drive be prepared to take the shuttle! It's great! If wait times are long pop over and get a cocktail at Chiringo and order some Campesino rum! It's a local brand and some of the best rum I've ever had! I had a delightful dinner recently at Red Door Cafe. Parked at the shuttle parking area down the street and enjoyed the ride in on the shuttle bus. The drinks were well made and refreshing. For dinner I had the baked eggplant stuffed with shrimp and scallops it was incredibly delicious. The staff couldn't have been nicer, super attentive without hovering. Total gem- can't wait to go back. Note: the place gets very crowded, parking can be difficult if you try to park around the building, go to the off sight parking down the street. Perfect amount of crisp and the tater sauce was great. For dinner, I recommend starting off with an espresso martini to energize yourself. Live music, beach crowd and fantastic decor. We came in around 9pm on a Tuesday and the tables were pretty packed, we put our names down and waited, got a drink at the bar, and then were seated after around 20min. We have been going to Red Bar since the mid nineties but it's been 9 years since we've eaten there so we were excited to see if it was as good as we remembered - and it was. Got there on a Friday afternoon when they opened so no wait. Started off with the tuna dip and it was fabulous. 3 of us had the crab cakes which were as good as we remembered. It seems like they are smaller than they were years ago but it was more than enough food. My son had the blackened grouper which he and I shared (along with my crab cakes) and it was outstanding - probably one of the best grouper I've had.
