Shrimp Scampi 9/10 I chose to have the shrimp grilled, they were cooked perfectly, juicy, and a great flavor too. Probably some of the best cooked shrimp I've ever had at a restaurant. Pasta was cooked well. The scampi sauce was a good flavor. Adding the juice from the lemon made it even better. I love tomatoes in my scampi so that would be my only suggestion to make this a 10/10. read more

Ate here several times over our 3 week stay in the area. Happy hour oysters every time and every time they were great. Nice Budweiser tap special, but for me I appreciate their selection of IPAs. Seafood gumbo was good. The hush puppies are addictive. Tuna dip is delicious. Ruben sandwich was ok. Fries were good. I did notice on two occasions we were seated by the hostess at a table that needed to be wiped off. Even though there were several empty tables. The last time here the same hostess sat us at a dirty table, we told her about it, so she seated us at another dirty table. Complained about that but she would not wipe the table so we sat in a totally different area. That's just inexcusable laziness. (hear that management?). My family and friends had a great afternoon at Austons on 98. The food was delicious!! We had oysters on the half shell x4, smoked tuna dip, crab claws, hush puppies, and Gouda cheese grits. We all enjoyed all of the dishes. Two of us had the blood orange sour beer. My husband had Dankside and Divide and Concur Ipa beers and he liked both of them. This was the only casual place we could find that had a decent rating and seafood. On our way back from paddle boarding. I had crab claws, very small, and 2 sides. The sides were really good - mac n cheese and lima beans Just don't order a cocktail. I tried to get one 3 different times because every one they brought me was worse than the last! I don't ever send drinks back, but these weren't drinkable! Stick with something in a bottle or can and you should be ok. One of the best places I've been for great seafood. My wife and I hit down today and being from Indiana , couldn't wait to get fresh seafood. Had the raw oysters, shrimp cocktail, and crab claws. As a food/ beverage professional I used to love this place, still like the food yet with the exception of 2 bartenders and 2 servers( all four who have been there since opening) the severs and bartenders are awful, to concerned with either leaving at end of shift or socializing with wait staff while not even aware of guests standing there. Also found it a little silly to have a whole wall of televisions with only one screen showing an actual live sporting event. Still keep going back but the last few times have not left happy. Improve the wait and bar staff, a 'warm body' place filler is not the way to go. read more

Every time I visit Florida, I must order crab claws. They are a staple and so good! It was no different when ordering here. Their crab claws were drenched in a garlic butter with a lemon wedge. We also ordered the charbroiled oyster sampler. Every single oyster was a total hit! The oysters came with some bread to dip into the sauces and we used it for our crab claw butter. When visiting Destin/Miramar Beach area we try to get to Auston's. Our third time here this year. Tonight we got a dozen oysters, dry rub wings and fried pickles. The oysters were phenomenal as always. Had them with a squeeze of lemon, saltine crackers, cocktail sauce, horseradish and the Auston's Habanero Garlic Hot Sauce. Everything was great. For beer, I had Ghost in the Machine by Parish Brewery in Louisiana. One of the top double IPA's out there. Live music by Wes Herndon was definitely a plus. This place was great and the service staff are all great people. This area can get overrun by tourists with bad attitudes and everyone working here are still good people! Spring break just ended so these guys have been working hard. The entire place was clean and welcoming. Food selection is great and everything we ordered was amazing. The large open bar is great for parties of just a few and the open floor is great for large parties. They have indoor and outdoor patio seating. The menu contains something for everyone and even kids. They have 30+ taps on draft giving several choices for every beer lover. Austons 98 is a great place to catch an NFL Sunday football game if you're in town on vacation or if you live in the area. With being how busy they were the food and the service didn't disappoint. Our waitress was always checking in on us if we wanted more food or drinks. The restaurant was decent size and had plenty of tvs for all the games that were going on, so everyone was able to watch the game they wanted too. The totchos I would like to compare to Poutine. The tater tots were cooked perfectly and they were coated with the beer cheese. I got mine with Nashville Chicken which did pack a punch. The broiled oysters were very flavor and the smell of garlic and Parmesan made my mouth water. Will definitely order both again. read more

We were looking for a place close to the outlets that had some good seafood. A quick search took us to Auston's Oyster Bar. We don't like oysters, but we loved Auston's. The vibe was an island vibe with a great selection of seafood. I had just the tried and true fried shrimp with some cheesy grits and cole slaw. It was great. The table got the smoked tuna and it was delicious. We arrived right at 5 pm and did not have to wait to get in. Check out Auston's, you won't be disappointed! read more

If you are looking to grab a meal near Miramar beach this is not a bad option. I would rate them 3.5 and edge to 4. In general the food and service was good, however the drink prices is a little high just like most of the places in the area. I say look to head in during happy hour for some discounts, however even with the HH drink discounts they are still a bit much. The venue is large and there was plenty of seating for big parties. They have their own hot sauce! it was a nice vinegar based sauce with a nice touch of heat, I recommend you try it out. Our table ordered several different items ranging from the fish of the day to oysters to salad and appetizers. I had the Kickin Grilled BBQ chicken. Kickin Grilled BBQ Chicken: The grilled chicken was both juicy and grilled nicely. the BBQ sauce was tangy and all in all a nice piece of protein. If you are looking for something that is not seafood I would recommend. Cheese Grits: All the grits I had in Florida were more smooth/finer ground that what I am used to in Texas and La. There where the same. They were good, but not great. Mac and cheese: Lots of cheese sauce. They had a very creamy texture, but a little bland on the flavor. Broiled Oysters Sampler: Not bad for a nice variety of Oysters. They come with several different toppings and is a good starter to share. Austons on 98 is worth a try in you are in that part of town. A hidden gem! This place was great! Food was delicious and service was top notch. Went on trivia night, which was fun and entertaining. Oysters were delicious,except for the periodic grittiness. This is the reason for the 4stars, other than that it definitely would have gotten 5stars just for service alone!!! I stopped in here out of the blue one day and ordered a cheeseburger with french fries and it was one of the best burgers I've actually had down here. Way better than some other sports bars I've been to. So if you want a good sports bar experience, I highly recommend this one over a couple of the others in the area plus it has a nice beachy vibe. There are TVs everywhere - if you want to watch a game they have it. they have all the stuff, live music, trivia, etc. . The other bars others offer this too, but not the trashy vibe, the staff is nice and the food is good and their menu is great. Look at it. Check it out. What a hidden gem! We came here for dinner on the last night of our vacation--only regret is not discovering it sooner. The food and service were both exceptional. Waiter was very friendly. The place was fairly average as far as ambiance. If you're looking for a bar setting with finger food frozen from a bag, then it's ok. If you're looking for good seafood, look elsewhere. It's also expensive for frozen food, but it may be the location near the beach. Would we come back..probably not. read more
