BEST beach bar we encountered at PCB. The view, sand buckets (ask your bartender, she'll hook you up!), and the service is perfect for vacation-mode. Our bartender was incredibly cool; made us feel like old friends and offered everything to make our time there extra special. She gave us tips for the best pizza in town to order and places the locals go so we can get the full experience (we were NOT here on Spring break, so were looking for a different vibe) Beautiful inside and out. Thank you for a relaxing, sweet experience. We can't wait to go back! I almost didnt want to write a review because I feel like this place is a well kept secret.

So much to love about his little spot! The bartender during our mid July visit was not only an amazing bartender but her personality is great! We tried several of the menu drinks during our visit. She created a few things for us to try after she learned what flavors we liked. The location is great if you are staying at the hotel or chilling on the beach nearby. They also have snacks and basic beach essentials which is very helpful. There are two large bathrooms in side and seating near huge windows if you need a break from the heat or beach.

First of all, this is a hotel bar, which I thought would be awkward, but it's not at all! Perfect setting right on the edge of the beach. The bartender Susan was so sweet & helpful, easy to talk to. I got the Kiss on the Lips & was truly satisfied. It was to die for! They had music and plenty of seating with outside options, although the outside seating was not very lit as we went after sunset. They have a pool and spa right there for guests too. If you want to walk in the sand after you drink they have a rinse station at the bottom of the stairs. You can park in the hotel's lot & they have an extra lot across the street for busy nights. Super fun, friendly, & great location! Only reason to give 4 stars is they closed at 8 on a Saturday night. Not sure because it was Labor Day weekend or not.

First visit and we'll definitely be back…read more This was our first time at Shades Bar & Grill, and it was a great experience. We went with a group of seven and everything from the atmosphere to the food made it a really fun night out. The location and vibe are fantastic -- lively but relaxed, the kind of place where you can easily settle in with friends and enjoy a good meal. We started with appetizers for the table: calamari, onion rings, and volcano shrimp. All three disappeared quickly. The calamari was really good and normally comes served over jalapeños, but since I don't eat them the kitchen kindly put them on the side for us. The onion rings were fantastic, and the volcano shrimp had a little heat (which the spice lovers at the table really liked). For dinner I had the hibachi steak over fried rice with yum-yum sauce, cooked medium. It was excellent -- tender, flavorful, and a generous portion. Others in our group ordered the same dish and loved it as well. The chicken nachos were huge (normally an appetizer but easily a full meal) with really tasty queso that had a bit of spice. The burger and flatbreads at the table also got great reviews. We also tried the chocolate dessert bomb at the end (not sure of the exact name), and it was fantastic -- chocolate mousse and cake inside a chocolate shell with whipped cream. Definitely worth sharing. The drinks were great, the service was friendly, and the whole place had a welcoming feel. One thing we really appreciated as well: they offer a military discount, which was a nice touch. We're locals and this was our first visit, but it definitely won't be our last. Highly recommend if you're in the Panama City Beach / 30A area.

The ambiance is wonderful! Solid menu... a little something for everyone. So happy our friends…read morebrought us here! The service was problematic-- no single person to blame, though. It was a chain reaction. They were debuting a new menu, so the kitchen was a bit slow. Our server was either being trained or training someone new--not totally sure. The appetizers were brought out after our entres. However, the food was fantastic as were the views and seating options.

Someone pointed me to the Mandy Burger - 8oz Brasstown beef patty, pepper-candied bacon, Boursin…read morecheese, tobacco fried onions, toasted brioche bun. Well, it was worth the trip. Cooked perfectly and a melody of tasts coming together in every single bite. Service was attentive and the decor was spot on that vibe from Havanna. However, I looked at the wall seeing the famous mug shot of Frank Sinatra from Bergen County NJ and wondered what was that all about? So, I "searched" on AI and discovered something I didn't know before: The Havana Beach Bar & Grill draws its inspiration directly from El Floridita, a legendary bar in Havana, Cuba, famous as a hangout for Ernest Hemingway and emblematic of the city's vibrant mid-20th-century nightlife scene. This ties into a broader theme of celebrating Cuba's golden era of cocktails, cuisine, and revelry, with menu influences from Caribbean and Gulf Coast flavors that evoke that spirit. Frank Sinatra's inclusion in the decor isn't random--it's a deliberate nod to his well-documented ties to Havana during the 1940s and 1950s. He visited Cuba multiple times, performed at iconic venues like the Tropicana and Hotel Nacional, and was part of the celebrity and mob-influenced social scene there. Notably, in February 1947, Sinatra traveled to Havana for what was publicly a gala event but was actually a cover for a major mob conference attended by figures like Lucky Luciano and the Fischetti brothers; he even arrived with a suitcase of cash and entertained at the gathering. Places like Havana's Hotel Nacional still display photos of him today as a famous visitor from that pre-revolutionary period. The specific use of his 1938 Bergen County mug shot (from an arrest on outdated charges of "seduction" involving a married woman) adds a layer of edginess, fitting the restaurant's evocation of Havana's glamorous yet gritty underworld vibe during the mob's heyday in Cuba. It's an iconic image often used in vintage decor to highlight Sinatra's rebellious early persona, which aligns with the era's celebrity lore that the restaurant channels amid its otherwise Cuba-focused elements.
