Just love this gem of a restaurant! George's never disappoints. It's bright and inviting, weathered beach white decor, driftwood clad mirrors, sweet wrap around porch outside seating. We had the Mock Mojito, Mock Lemon Thyme and the Lobster Quesadilla. These were hands down the best mocktails I've ever tasted. They actually were yummy, refreshing and just the right level of herbs added. The Lobster Quesadilla was a big hit and the ambience and relaxed staff make you want to sit and relax from shopping for a while. We went fathers at 2:30 pm and it was perfect for the lull between the lunch crowd and before the dinner crowd arrives and the line wraps around the restaurant outside at 4:30 pm or so. George's in 30A was definitely a HIT for me! Parking was seamless, and since they don't take reservations, we decided to try our luck. Surprisingly, we were seated within minutes! Our server, Jerome, was also amazing and added to the experience. After a long day, I started with a cup of hot coffee to give me a little boost, but then I switched over to a refreshing mocktail--and it was SO refreshing! Definitely a wonderful choice. For appetizers, I tried the calamari fries, which were a hit, along with the summer salad. The fresh fruit was bursting with flavor and created the perfect balance. For my entrée, I opted for the chef's special with shrimp, mussels, squash, and green peas. The sauce was absolutely delicious and brought everything together perfectly. We also ordered George's fried basket, which came with shrimp, fries, hush puppies, and slaw. Of course, I wanted the full dining experience, so I had to end with dessert! The banana pudding shortbread cake was a wonderful choice and the perfect way to wrap up the meal. We had heard great things about George's and really wanted to give it a try while on vacation. The wait was definitely long, but I'm glad we stuck it out because it was absolutely worth it. We were able to grab a table at the outdoor bar and have some drinks while we waited, which made the time go by pretty easily. Once seated, we decided to go with appetizers and drinks and had a great experience. The lobster quesadilla and calamari fries had both been recommended to us before our trip, and they did not disappoint. Both were great, but the tuna tataki was easily my favorite thing we ordered. Great food, drinks, and atmosphere all around. Absolutely phenomenal, our family of 4 enjoyed everything we ordered and cleared our plates. Calamari, tuna poke bowl, burger, and hot honey chicken sandwich. We've been coming to the area for a while now and have always passed by George's and they always have such a long line around dinner time, I now understand why! I knew this place was popular but still very surprised to see a line out the door when we arrived a little after 5 pm on a Friday night. They have a little bar waiting area though and we didn't have to wait for too long. We ordered the lobster quesadilla as an appetizer and it was so delicious and cheesy. I got the shrimp pesto fettuccini as my main course and was not disappointed. We were also glad that they were able to accommodate our friend who has a dairy allergy with the jerk crusted snapper. Our server was very sweet! The ambiance was nice and upscale. I loved the outdoor dining option. We shared a bottle of white wine for our friends bachelorette which was delicious. Honestly this was the best meal we had in the area!!! Was very happy we gave it a try and would totally come back if I were to visit Florida again. The salad and shrimp were good, with the pesto coming in shortly behind that. Potatoes were just okay but glad we got them to balance out everything else. Excellent food! We came here one night of my sister's bachelorette trip. Unfortunately, they have no reservations and you must physically show up to put your name on their list. Then they give you an estimated wait time and you must show up within 10 minutes of that text. They told us we would have an hour wait and then texted us before the runners even got back from the Airbnb. We got there in 12 minutes and because we were 2 minutes late, they bumped us. Ended up waiting about an hour on the sidewalk in the humid heat. Thankfully the food was good! read more

The good: service was excellent, very helpful and was happy to walk through the good and bad of the menu (well, not "bad" per se, but he was honest as to which dishes he didn't like as much). Location is lovely and conveniently located. Pleasant dining space indoors and outside. The food was fine, which was a little disappointing from reading other reviews. Fish was a little dry and could've used a little more sauce (possibly due to its being a bit dry, I suppose). It was a good portion size (better be for $28, after all), and I saw potential, just wasn't an A-game delivery. The fries, I must say, were excellent. Drinks were also just fine, nothing really stood out about them. All told, I'd go back, just wasn't the knockout experience others seem to have had. read more

To keep it short, we went so that my husband could try the salt and pepper shrimp. I ordered the sea scallops. I have never left a plate untouched, but here I ate 1/4 (one bite) of a scallop and my husband tried 1/4 and that was it. Awful. My husband said the shrimp was OK. Not bad, but not good enough to go back. To top it off, our server could see I did not enjoy my meal, seeing as I really didn't touch it, and never offered any solace. I'm not the type to look for a comp, but I do believe in seeking feedback to improve and here they didn't seem to care. I have never had a scallop taste like that. The food was underwhelming and varied in quality. The reports of the steak ranged from okay to excellent. The crab cakes were good but the sauce on top was not much different from a tartare sauce. The swordfish was overcooked and salty at times and the quinoa and edamame were under-seasoned. I would say this was 3.5 stars. We were seated quickly outside under a patio heater, which was great. We were expecting a wait, so that was a bonus. It was quiet and easy to converse with our group. Our server stopped by immediately and was very attentive throughout our meal. There were 2 mocktail options (the lemon thyme one was pretty good) and an NA beer available, which we always appreciate. The food came out very quickly while we were still eating our salads. It was good - not mind-blowing, but good. Some dishes were over seasoned or nondescript, which was a bit of a bummer (the grits were crazy salty, the chickpeas were super spicy, the potatoes with the waygu steak were kind of mushy and tasteless (duck fat potatoes that are kind of crispy are so good!!!). The steak, for the price, was a bit underwhelming - very tender, but not a ton of flavor. The portion sizes were nice for all of the dishes (just add a few more stalks of asparagus to the Waygu ribeye please). For dessert we had the key lime (was not our favorite - so sweet) but the chocolate toffee "goo" was delicious. Overall, though, we had a great evening and enjoyed our time at George's. We tried an appetizer and an entrée each, but nothing really stood out. I was excited about the lobster and shrimp quesadilla, but it ended up being the biggest letdown. Looking back, I probably should've gone with the burger. Prices were on the high side for what we got, which might just be because of the location, but still felt steep. We each ordered "cocktails", I got a mojito and didn't taste a drop of rum--It came in a small bourbon glass that was loaded to the brim with ice.... My husband got an old fashioned, it just tasted like straight cheap bourbon. My husband got shrimp and grits, the meal came dowsed is whatever vinaigrette they put on the salad. He is the least picky person but he had to force himself to eat it. I got the red snapper. It was the furthest from fresh. It was dry, and overcooked. It honestly tasted like they reheated a frozen meal. My husband and I agreed the coconut molasses that it came with was incredibly gross. The black beans had no flavor. We both ate off our kids chicken finger plates since we couldn't finish our own meals. This was the most expensive place we went on our 4 day trip, hoping for a good seafood experience. Love this place! Their fish tacos are the best I have ever had as they are so fresh and vibrant even though I get them fried. The cilantro lime rice is earthy and somewhat sweet with the corn. Their cucumber salad has so much vinegar and cuts through the rich fried fish. Come for the fish tacos and stay for the key lime pie! read more
