This is absolutely the worse moving/storage company in Boston. Me and my roommate have had an awful experience with them. We scheduled our move on June 29th and I was told the movers would call me at 7am to give me a time window for when they would come. By 3 pm I still had not heard from them and my phone calls kept getting ignored and I had a flight that afternoon. Luckily, a friend of mine was able to let the movers in when they finally arrived at SEVEN pm. -They charged me 2,000 dollars for the move, apparently it took them nearly 8 hours to move all of our stuff into their truck (2 bedroom small apartment). and they LEFT 2 small boxes behind. -I tried to complain and get some of my money refunded, as their pricing was unreasonable, but they were impossible and would not follow up with me. -We also provided the company with both mine and my roommates card information so they could split it, but apparently that was even too difficult for them since they charged the whopping amount just to my card. -Now they charge us 400 dollars for monthly storage (when we were originally told it would range from 150-200) -This month they never sent us the receipt to pay and now they are trying to charge us a late fee. There are no words to explain what an AWFUL company this is, I don't understand how they can run a business and be okay with providing such TERRIBLE service to their customers. Its impossible to contact them, nobody ever answers the phone, the lady in charge of accounting can barely speak/understand English and everybody else I've spoken to has been rude and extremely unhelpful. Although I had a good experience with movers, office was horrible. They gave me a price for 2 guys and a truck. On the moving day, they changed the deal on me and gave me more expensive option with 3 guys. I told them. 1- I don't have too much stuff. 2-I will help them out. I will carry small stuff. Didn't make any difference. They think that they change the deal on me. I used this company before, even I ask their services when we were moving our company office, but no more. I am done with them. AWFUL! STAY AWAY! It takes a lot for me to complain, but this company is CRIMINAL. After taking our deposit, they were suppose to show up at 3pm. We never heard anything and after repeated calls to them, they finally admitted they overbooked and forgot about us. Finalyl they sent a van at 10pm that was already packed with someone else's stuff whose order they were supopsed to deliver earlier that day (so someone else got screwed too). They also showed up with only 2 guys instead of the requested three guys. The movers were screaming at the owner over the phone for messing up, they then told me that the owner of the company is awful and that I should not even trust giving him my stuff. I got on the phone with the owner (named Abi) who yelled at me and told me to move my own stuff using profanity. The call center staff was incredibly rude too. We were stuck without a moving company. HORRIBLE! They arrived 4 hours late to the pickup. They were supposed to arrive between 7AM and 9AM. They arrived around 1PM. When they got to our apartment, one of the movers said they called at 8AM, but no answer. My husband and I were both home and did not receive a call on any of our phones. We checked our phones and we didn't have any missed calls. When they unloaded our boxes and furniture, they damaged a wall in the living room, cut our couch, and lost a box with several items including dishes and a handbag. In addition to the damages and missing items, the cost was well above what we were quoted. The sales rep told my husband we would be reimbursed a portion of what we paid; however, that never happened. We did receive a check for a measly $100 to cover the cost of the missing items. Then the bill came and I may have had a heart attack not only did they try to charge me for packing my boxes, which they didn't do, everything was packed before they got there, and sealed with tape. Horrible experience... I was told that Gentle Movers was based out of South Boston and that they would be coming from southie (I live in southie and was moving a few blocks) and they start charging from when they left. I got a call at 9:10 in the morning saying that they were leaving from Hyde Park... what?! So, long story short, I had to pay 3 men to tool around in a truck for the hour that it took them to get from Hyde Park to South Boston (It doesn't take an hour). By the time they had shown up at 10:15 (an hour later), it was too late to cancel my move and change plans. So having to go forth with Gentle Movers, I ended up paying $365 for about an hour and a half of moving time. They did NOT tell me when I booked them that they charge 2hrs minimum. Would have been nice to know that. DO NOT BOOK through them. They will give you hell and then only make up for it with a half an hour of reibursement for the hours of hassel it took for me to get in touch with someone. They said "we will have someone call you back within the hour, I promise". Three hours later, I called back and demanded to speak to a manager. NO, NO a thousand times NO! Do not under any circumstances use this company, they are dishonest crooks. I was given an estimate of 3 - 4 hours with 2 movers. On the morning of the move they called and "suggested" that they bring 3 movers as it would lessen the time. Of course this was at a higher hourly rate but if it lessened the time than OK. Then they show up late and boy, do they take their time. The movers spent more time wrapping items and wasting material than anything out. Not to mention, the 3rd guy they brought was limping and not worth a dime. We moved about 1/8 mile down the road. At the destination, they weren't even bringing the stuff into the house, simply putting it into the garage. Guess what, they billed me for 6 hours!!! I then spent way too many hours on the phone with them being lied to over and over. Each person there told me they would take care of it and, needless to say, they didn't. Of course, they have your credit card so they bill you anyway. Bottom line, the office personnel lie and are incredibly rude and the owner, of course, is never available. Take my and everyone else's advice DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY they are awful!!! I only wish I had checked YELP before I used them. read more

It's been a year since our move and the bitter experience is still fresh in my mind. We thought we were calling Gentle Giant ... our mistake ... and it ended up being a big one. It is such a long story, but I will try to make it concise. We were moving the contents of a four-bedroom home and put some boxes and furniture in storage for a few months ahead of the actual move. The men who showed up were very polite, but consistently late ... by hours each time. They were also hungry and thirsty and asked to be fed. The day we moved out, they left a trailer on what was no longer our driveway overnight. The new buyers of our home were not appreciative that they could not move in to their new home the following morning. The next day, we moved in to our new home. Again, arrived late and this time short-handed and tired from the day before! As they were backing up one of the trailers, it got stuck in the mud. Yes, it started snowing. Four men sat around for four hours trying to move the trailer instead of calling for a new cab. Again, hungry and thirsty. By the time a new cab came to help with the stuck trailer, it was really snowing. They had to leave the second trailer on the street (which could have been unloaded by now if they had not been fooling around with the first one). It was so miserable out and so late, that all the men could do was just pile everything in the garage and my husband and son had to move it all inside. My new walls were ruined, new floors ruined, and almost every piece of furniture was damaged. We put in a claim, but a year later have not heard from them! We were promised a $1500 credit to compensate for the difficulties, but it was never issued. Because they already had our credit card information from the storage, they just put the whole amount through. This was one of the worst experiences we have ever endured with a service company. I warn you to stay away from this company! By the way, we ended up calling Gentle Giant a few days later to help with what Gentle Movers could not complete, and we found them to be a top-notch company...highly recommend the right "Gentle" moving company! read more

I would give zero stars if possible. I was recommended by the sales rep to hire three men for a very basic 1 bedroom move w/ no dining room to help make the move as fast as possible at 144/hr and that I would only be charged for the actual travel to/from their base in Hyde Park. I had every single item in my apt. packed (about 30 small-medium boxes) with very basic furniture and moved during non-rush hours in the middle of the week (starting at 10a.m.). The movers were nice men but the management was non-existent. I am non-judgmental but one mover was overweight and was unable to move quickly (spent two hours wrapping my couch and a few glass tops to my side tables and dressers???). I too often found the other mover standing around doing nothing at all. I was moving a total distance of 12 miles to the next town (it was a 20 minute drive). The total estimated time on mapquest for the drive from Hyde Park AND back was 50 minutes. Not only did they move exceedingly slow (6.5 hours), they then stated they had to charge me an eta of 2 hours for the local drive to and from Hyde Park (a complete lie and misrepresentation from what was communicated over the phone). I honestly had to resist the urge to step in and just do the work myself (since doing so would result in loss of insurance coverage). I've moved my belongings faster with just me and my sister (and we are both small people). I would recommend moving yourself over hiring this company. They charged me 8.5 hours for an otherwise decent job that should have taken much much less time. I also have made attempts to contact them seven times (email and phone) with only one response saying they will look into it. They have failed to give me a reason for the excessive charges and I am now being forced to contact the attorney general's office, filing a complaint with the better business bureau and if there is no resolution, filing a small claim. I used Gentle Movers in September 2010 and once about a year earlier. Fortunately, they didn't make me write them checks and give them money orders, but it was still a horrific experience. First, the movers were late during both moves. This presents obvious problems of aligning your schedule and constraints with theirs. Financially, they have a incentive to show up late because the hourly rate you pay starts accumulating rom the time the truck leaves their facility. Second, as previous reviewers have stated, they nickel and dime you. When I moved, they would conclude the move with a call to their office to determine the amount you owe them. The amount will always be much larger than you expect. For a simple one bedroom move, expect the total to be $900 - $1200 instead of the $600 it should cost for 3 movers. Finally, and the most absurd, during the second move, one of the movers (who I believe had an old Lincoln Navigator or similar sized green SUV) got a parking ticket and they made me pay their parking ticket!!! The client should not be responsible for the choice of the movers to park their personal cars illegally! Shame on me for using them a second time. Don't make the same mistake as I did by using them at all! If you insist on using this moving company, I recommend negotiating a rate up front so there are absolutely no hidden costs. If that is not an option go elsewhere to avoid a nightmare. The woman on the phone and the company as a whole seemed to be unwilling to stick to an agreement even if it's in writing. They want the ability to maximize the amount you have to pay while misleading you to use them, Don't give them this option and instead negotiate an hourly rate that applies during the time the movers are there and actually doing work, not the time it takes them to get to you with their truck. If they hold your belongings hostage, immediately call the police and then get a lawyer. In that case, make sure you move your most valuable small items yourself so you can part with your other furniture until you go to court and sue them. Moving is always stressful to a certain extent, but Gentle Movers made moving as stressful as possible. I am writing this review after having recently moved with another company in another city and realizing moving does not have to be that stressful. read more

I wanted to express my utter dissatisfaction with your company and customer service that I received on my move this past Wednesday, December 31st. First of all your movers were two and half hours late. I kept calling and was told false information that they were reviewing my paperwork and leaving in 5 minutes, I was told this for two hours. At 10 am it was disclosed that your truck was not working. I find it hard to believe that a national company has one truck. I was told at 10:10 that your truck left the facility in SOUTH BOSTON and would arrive at my home in 5minutes. They showed up at 10:45 and said they were lost, I live down the street in South Boston. I was charged for your drivers being incompetent and not looking up directions to my home. Your movers damaged my goods and were not professional. I was charged for two hours when they did about 45 minutes of work. I did all the moving and packing and unpacking from home to home. I would never recommend your company to anyone. I hope that you will take this email and make some necessary changes to the way you do business and treat your customers. read more

They showed up extremely late (5 hours) and the operations manager literally yelled at me on the phone when I called to see when they would be finally getting to our house to move us, and said " what would you like us to do? Do you want us to not come at all?" They know you need them at that point and that you have no other option but wait for them to show up whenever they want. By the time we had everything unloaded in our new home it was past 11PM. They ruined what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of our families life together, our first home! Never use the company!!! That was a horrible experience! I moved from 1br apt to a town near by. These 2 guys-movers took almost 6 hours to move my stuff, they did it slowly on purpose to get paid for more hours. I had to unload the truck too because they did it very slowly. After my stuff was finally moved, they charged me not only for ridiculously long time of moving, they also charged me for extra 2 hours!!! They explained it as a charge for the travel time from their location to my place which is only 20 min away! Plus they charged me $60 "for packaging materials" - 7 paper boxes and 4 rolls of tape that they gave me! All together it came up to over $1200. When I called to complain to a manager, he refused to refund the overcharge. After multiple complaints and long times on hold, I finally got $115 back, which was for the difference in "estimated" and actual driving time from and back to their location. They refused refund overcharge for boxes and tape, and they still kept the money for "on the way' time. I wouldn't mind to pay money for a great service. Moving is a stress, and the reason I hired movers was to reduce the stress. I really wanted them to help me to install furniture in my new place, but seen their slow job and carelessness I changed my mind. What was the point to keep paying for low quality services! They also damaged my office table and was not careful with other stuff. My bed frame was broken apart and never put back together. I used movers before, and there are great companies out there. I used Gentle Mover two weeks ago. Before getting an appointment for moving, they asked me to deposit $164.00 by CC. The appointment was set up to move in the morning. That morning, they called at 8:30AM and said they're on the way, but did not show up. They called again at 12:30PM and finally they showed up at 1:30PM. They quoted me $164.00 for 3 staffs but in reality, only two did the work and the other just stayed around with the truck. After the move, they ended up charge me the total of $470.13. Checking my CC, there were to charges, one for $164.00 (my depodit) and one for $470.13 (actual charge). I called Gentle Mover manager, the person who set up my appointment, and he promised to return my call right away and let me know what's going on. To my surprise, he never called back. I then emailed him and never got a response. I ended up file a dispute for the amount $164.00 with my CC. read more

What to say .... it took them 2 hours to drive the 6.44 miles from the facility to the apartment. Keep in mind you pay from the moment they leave the facility. So that meant a charge of $308 ($154 per hour for 3 men) before they even started working on the move. I've always moved the big items first so they can be secured in the truck by the small boxes. Nope. You have to picture a big, burly guy coming out of the building carrying - wait for it - two boxes of tissues. After about 50 minutes of my daughter and I hauling drawers, chairs, and a box spring down three flights, it occurred to me that the mattress, couch, cabinet, exceedingly heavy table and small fridge still sat there waiting for attention. I pulled one of the guys aside and told him that they had 15 minutes to load the rest of the stuff and move on to the new apartment. That gentleman, despite the fact that it was his first day, was with the program and made everybody get moving. The move-in was similarly nightmarish as the gentleman I spoke to (A) got paired with the driver (B) - who spoke zero English (the supposed reason they were two hours late - he couldn't understand directions to follow) and B decided to move things one-handed. He nearly crushed A a few times. It was not a pretty sight. He also simply dropped the mini fridge when he got upstairs, but my husband caught it. The leader of the crew WAS experienced and DID know what he was doing. Things were wrapped well, if somewhat excessively, adding to the time. Mover A listened and learned well and read the frustration on my face and really dug in. Mover B ... drifted. The move leader realizing that the move had been a disaster from start to finish negotiated with me for a fair amount of time that took into consideration his crew's inexperience and exceedingly late arrival. He also insisted on moving in all the stuff on the truck although we asked that they only do the large items to save time. He did this as a courtesy because as soon all the small boxes were off the truck and on the ground, torrential rain started and the boxes began disintegrating. Lastly, during the final bill settlement, the rate suddenly went from $154 to $174 an hour. My advice, is to smile, take a seat and say, "Tell the guy on the phone that I agreed to $154 an hour. That's what you're getting. Take it or leave it. Your choice." They took it. Pro: The move leader who took the initiative to negotiate a FAIR amount of time. (I paid 4 hours - it could have been as high as 7) Pro: The guy on his first day - strong and sensible - willing to work with you. Con: The driver ... nothing more to say Con: No GPS on board the trucks in a city like Boston is an egregious mistake. Con: Hourly rate change after the move is completed. Called bait and switch, that is something you can fight legally. Call the Attorney General's Office. You make your own decision, but if I have to assist with another move, I'm renting a U-Haul, hiring a couple of friend's sons, and getting a prescription for muscle relaxants ahead of time. read more

The worse moving company. I wish I can give them zero. I have moved from one city to another many times, even overseas. So I have a quite a bit experience in moving & relocation. I have not come a cross bad experience like this time. This time I picked Gentle Movers thinking that a large company will make my life easier, unfortunately, I had the worse & stressful experience. 1) Robbery, robbery, robbery, they make whatever to rob you. Starting from the salesman (Tom) to the foreman (Bobby). I have moved the same stuff just a year earlier using a different company, it costs me $600, this time Gentle movers billed me $1880 for the exact no. of hours & job. 2) Disorganized, paperwork not clear and a miss, not professional at all. 3) I have told them from the begining that my sister will move out the stuff from the storage, I wrote her name on the papers. When my sister contacted them, they denied it, then they asked for more paperwork and power of attorney, ... 4) the branch manger is another stupid guy !!!, I contacted him after I had so much trouble, he asked me "If I have contacted the credit card to ask why they charged me this amount of money" WHAT??? what the credit card has to do with the issue, you guys have billed me $1880. 5) They were trying to charge my sister 2 hour labor fee a head of time before they release the storage. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! They scammed me out of $120. When I first contacted them I was told that it would be $134/hr for three movers or $154/hr for four. I requested four movers & then I had to put a deposit on my credit card. When Marwan (the person I spoke with on the phone) finished what he needed to do regarding the deposit I was told I'd see a $134 charge. I questioned that amount and reiterated that I need four movers. He told me not to worry about it, I was signed up for four movers. The night before they were supposed to arrive I got a confirmation call from the company. I was told that I three movers scheduled to arrive the next day. Again, I corrected him and said I needed four. The next day they arrived with four movers. However, when I got the bill I was being charged $164/hr rather than the $154/hr I was originally quoted. When I called to complain about this I was told that because I had asked for a fourth mover after originally booking three, the cost would be an additional $30/hr per mover. Thus the charge of $164/hr. However, I STATED RIGHT FROM THE START I NEEDED FOUR F**KING MOVERS! This is how they screwed me out of $120. On top of that, they failed to move multiple items from the house (a few chairs, some rugs, other misc. items). read more

Gentle Movers are the most horrible company you can ever employ for moving. They simply take advantage of you. They overcharge. They raise the price by a large amount over the original quote. They all of a sudden demanded that money be bank transferred. They don't give you any delivery schedule. They are always late. They rude, crude and unprofessional. If you want to add stress and frustration as well as get ripped off, then Gentle Movers is the company for you. They will show up with very unprofessional movers, who will milk the clock, and even take 30 to 40 minute smoking breaks and stop at fast food restaurants during the move while keeping the clock ticking. They will take twice as long as they estimate even at the start of the day, and then demand payment in bank checks without ever telling you this through the sales team. They will also break your furniture and not offer any compensation for this, even though they misrepresent the fact that they take special care to secure your belongings. read more

Gentle Movers did a great job of moving my furniture and communicating with me to make sure the move occurred effectively. This moving process was occurring while I was out of town, and that just goes to show how honest, trustworthy, and reliable these movers were. They called me to let me know when they arrived and made sure to listen carefully as to how and what things I wanted. There was also an instance where the movers found that they were unable to move out my full size box spring using the stairs since the staircase at that house was too narrow. They called me to ask how they should move the box spring out and I told them to throw it down from the second floor balcony to the first floor balcony because that's what the movers who moved the box spring into the house had to do. When I arrived to my new apartment, I found my box spring undamaged and great condition even after it was thrown down from the balcony! In addition all of my items had arrived in perfect condition and nothing was lost. I was also pleasantly surprised to see the mattress all wrapped up cellophane and the wooden sticks to be taped together. It was great how they used their resources to make sure nothing became dirty! We used this mover to move 1 desk approximately 8 miles. First off, they showed up late with no phone call and said they were lost. Next, they brought 4 movers - we were told there would be 2. They actually billed our charge card for 3 movers and 4 hours to move this one desk. - $432!!!!! Since they had our charge card # they were able to bill it directly. Unfortunately for us this was a business move and we signed the document before the final delivery was made because we could not be at the destination (about 15 minutes away from the pick up spot). they told us they would issue a credit for half of the bill and DID NOT - I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MOVER. TERRIBLE HORRIBLE EXTORTING THIEVING BASTARDS Prior to today I did not have a yelp account but I've been waiting for 5 hours now for my movers and am taking advantage of the wifi in my old apartment since I have missed the cable appointment I had at my new apartment. These movers are citing that all trucks are occupied and I've spoken to two rude women (Marianne and some other lady) and some strange/Sketchy men (ron and Tom moore.) The excuse is that the person before me had too much stuff. The review from Priya S. and Melissa are spot on. Anyways, I've been in communication with the Boston police and they said I could keep in touch with them if I am threatened. We shall see how this unfolds...I will update probably from a hotel or Starbucks tonight since I won't have wifi post-move no thanks to Gentle movers. UPDATE as of 9/02/2012: NIGHTMARE: I ended up waiting 6-7 hours for these guys to come. Once the movers came they explained to me the situation of a ridiculous schedule and then I wasn't mad at them, but furious at TOM MOORE and the office. These negative yelp reviews are right, Gentle Movers has been extorting every single customer at the end of their move. The movers are nice guys and they do the moves quickly, for me they loaded/unloaded in 30 mins. THEN, they are required to call the office and the office adds on an extra 2+ hours out of nowhere onto a moving time quote and the default excuse they cite is "travel time." FUCKERS. I spent probably an hour screaming on the phone in the middle of the street that I would call the cops on Tom Moore and take him to court if he tried to extort me. Eventually I think they gave in, but I'm waiting to see my credit card statement and will call my company for fraud if they charge me more than 2 hours. These people are criminals and I have already reported them. TOM MOORE you are a SOB and I want my money back. You made me wait 6-7 hours for my move and then harassed/ tried to extort me on the phone. I'm glad I read these reviews and took action (already have contacted Boston Police, Boston GLOBE, BBB, local news, and Martha Coakley (MA attny general and consumer rep http://www.marthacoakley.com/contact). I have my lawyer on this too. UPDATE as of 9/03/2012: Called my credit card company and was notified that Gentle movers have overcharged my credit card. I have notified my credit card company that this is a fraudulent charge. I will take this to the local news. Justice and and a full refund need to be served. Do NOT to use this company. We engaged Gentle Movers this past fall for a local move here in Boston. Their sales agent responded promptly to our initial contact to schedule the move, and offered a quote that was high but not unreasonable. We decided it would be worth the extra cost because our initial experience suggested they would be "professionals". Unfortunately, beyond the sales agent, the service we received was anything but professional. Our credit card was initially triple charged. After persistent outreach, we eventually reached someone to resolve the matter. At both the move-out and move-in locations, the moving staff was inefficient. They exceeded the time allotted by the experienced property managers at both locations, to move in/out of a 1-bed apartment. This incidentally resulted in the total move cost being significantly more than the initial estimate. The moving staff was unprepared. They arrived without adequate moving tools (straps, dollys, carts, etc) to provide professional moving services. The moving staff was obviously inexperienced. Items were stacked, loaded, and moved in a slapdash manner. Boxes and furniture were dropped, banged into walls, etc. There was significant damage done to our possessions and furniture (broken stereo components, a wracked cabinet and coffee table, multiple scratches and dents, bent handles and broken off furniture feet). Well over 1/2 of our boxes were bent, punctured, or crushed. And the movers left scratches on the wall in one apartment and a dent in the building hallway that we had to fix. Again, after persistent outreach, we were able to submit a well-documented and (frankly) conservative, claim for almost $1000 of damage. We were compensated for less than 1/3 of the claim (the minimum amount due under their basic insurance). I wish we had gotten additional insurance, despite their declaration that their basic insurance would "cover everything". But what I really regret is hiring Gentle Movers. Their sales agent was nice, the rest of our experience with this company was unprofessional, costly, stressful, and completely disappointing. read more

Worst moving experience ever! The movers are unmotivated, inefficient, and milk their time because they get paid by the hour. The customer service department, specifically Alba is just as unhelpful as he is incompetent and did not recognize the problems with his movers or the lack of service I received. This is the worst moving company I have ever dealt with. I would give this company 0 stars if there was an option to do so. DO NOT, under any circumstances, book with this company for a move. I've never had any trouble using moving companies until I booked with this one. If you want to pay over $1,000 to move a bedroom (dresser, clothes, desk, nightstand, clothes) then feel free to use them because that is what this move cost me. First off, they were over two and half hours late getting to me, and nobody called to let me know that they were running late. I called the dispatch number and got no answer until a half hour before the movers were scheduled to get to me. The two movers were obviously extremely tired from the move that was scheduled earlier that day. One was very nice, but the other one was extremely rude. They ended up moving so slowly that I started taking my boxes and bags down myself into the truck . Additionally, they took 45 minutes to "wrap" my bed in tape to protect it--I don't understand this process, since other companies I've moved with had blankets that were just thrown and taped over the item. It was probably to run the time up on the clock so that I would be charged more money. I had the movers follow me to my apartment, and I asked them if they knew how to get there, and they said they did. I lost them at a light and I waited for them at my new apartment. After I didn't see them for 10 minutes, I called them to ask them where they were. They said they had gotten lost, told me where they were and asked me how to get to my apartment. I gave them explicit directions--they should have gotten to my apartment in 5 minutes tops. Thirty minutes later (after me calling them multiple times) they showed up to my apartment, saying they were sorry and that "the gps took them crazy ways". (Um, hello, I gave you explicit directions to my apartment that consisted of go straight, make a right, and another right to get to my apartment). When all was said and done, they charged me for two extra hours for travel time (where exactly were you traveling from and going to?) And I noticed that the company had already debited my account over a thousand dollars before the movers had even left. I called the company back to complain, and the salesperson said he'd give me back two hours of the time charged because he agreed that I shouldn't have been charged for the movers mistake and sluggishness. He even said to me, "I shouldn't be saying this on a company line, but you should have used a different company." That was over two months ago, and I still haven't seen the credit in my account. I've been calling back to ask to speak with the salesperson, and the new people have told me that he has left the company. I am also transferred from person to person when I ask to speak with a manager, and they say that the manager "is not in the office right now." No!! Wish we'd checked Yelp before we booked Gentle Movers. They showed up at 1:00 p.m. for a "mid-morning" move. They sent 2 guys instead of the 3 that we asked for, which took more time and cost more than it should have. They also tried to charge us for 2 hours of driving time (for what should have taken about 40 minutes). They credited us for 30 minutes, but not the full hour extra. They were extremely rude when I tried to deal with these issues over the phone. By the end, they said "honestly, we don't want your business again". What kind of customer service is that?!!! Stay away from gentle movers I just saw their name and decided to come forth with my story. They bought two small trucks instead of a big one causing a delay in the moving process and I was paying by the hour mistake number one ,mistake number two is they didn't do all of the packing and they walked off with one of my 35mm cameras which was loosely placed in a big box. mistake number three they didn't move my refrigerator properly and they squashed the condenser causing my refrigerator to break of course they did not admit any wrongdoing. they were the worst stay away from them. I had a HORRIBLE experience with Gentle Movers. As other review have mentioned, they were very friendly on the phone- but the movers were extremely unprofessional. They were 2 college students who clearly had no moving experience and no idea what they were doing. They got lost on the way to my apartment and arrived an hour late. I only had 9 items to move (all small furniture) which I had already prepared for the move- I had taped all the drawers shut, etc. My new apartment was a half mile away- and it took them SIX hours to move the 9 pieces. That averages 40 minutes per item, which is ridiculous. They charge by the hour and were clearly taking their time with the move so it would cost more money. The only reason this company could get two stars from me is the polite and helpful moving consultant and the movers that came to the house. Don't give them your credit card. You will find ridiculous charges on the next statement. I was over charged by more than $1100.00. I booked Gentle Movers do to a recommendation. First mistake, they claim they would arrive by 9am but showed up at 11:30am. They proceeded to take all day to move my stuff. then leave with the intent they would call me with the bill, but what they did was go to my credit card to make take payment without a bill...but it gets better, they will damage your good and lose them, so my support to you is STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM GENTLE MOVERS. now when its time to get my belongings back,they pull the famous I want a money order before I release ur belongings. They will take full advantage of your situation,deceit and unprofessionalism you will get from this moving company. they are rated F by the BBB and now I know why. Wish I had read these reviews before I experienced my nightmare with Gentle Movers today. I won't bore you with the details, which are all too familiar in others' comments. Luckily, I had flexibility. I fired them before they even arrived since the stress and inconvenience of waiting and waiting was more than what I could bear. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY! They are a complete scam. My husband and I used them to move our stuff and they were terrible. Once we arrived at our new place, they said they would leave with the truck unless we got them a money order or certified check for an amount that they just determined. The job wasn't even finished and they were going to just charge us for 11 hours of work. Also it was 5pm on a Friday and there was no bank open to get a certified check. They refused to open the truck unless they were paid up front even though they had already charged my credit card for the initial payment. We were forced to sign a paper saying we agree to pay these charges and would not dispute them! Please don't use this company! Trust me you will regret it! read more

If you have to load everything into your car yourself it would be a better move than hiring this company!! They show up late ( 7hours ! ) are not prepared ( had no tools ) and are so unprofessional its scary!! Then when you try and reach the company ( and i use that word loosely ) you will never hear from them!! I am still trying to repair the damage that was done when they left my home!!!
